Geraldine McConnell Hight Hamer
Geraldine McConnell Hight Hamer, 93, of Little Rock passed away July 13, 2003. She was born February 24, 1910 in Neosho, Missouri to Franklin M. McConnell and Hattie Ramey McConnell. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester F. Hight, who died in 1933, and Curtis Hamer, who died in 1959. She is survived by a sister Ruth McConnell Hunter, two children Aline Hight Brown of Wimberly, Texas and Dr. Chester F. Hight of Little Rock, Arkansas, 5 grandchildren: Mark Brown, Bethany Brown Lott, Dana Brown Scaief, Tracy Hight Sykes, Karen Hight Russell; and 8 great grandchildren: Christopher Lott, Caitin Lott, Cameron Lott, Lindsay Scaief, Kevin Scaief, Brian Scaief, Courtney Sykes, and Taylor Sykes.
She grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas and later relocated to Little Rock. She was an active member of Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church. Mema, as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, was a strong woman with a very dry wit. Her family loved her dearly and will miss her very much.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Alexander with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating.

Robert Harrison Hays
Robert Harrison Hays, age 47, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003. Robert was born in Evanston, Illinois, attended Little Rock schools and graduated from Little Rock Central High School. He later graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BA in business. After school he worked in Fayetteville for five years with the University Administration, payroll division. Moving to Little Rock he worked for T.R.W. Corporation and later Fairfield Communities computer department.
Robert is predeceased by his father, E.T. Sonny Hays who died in 1998, and is survived by his mother, Jo Clair Armstrong Hays of Little Rock, one sister, Ann Hays Cain and husband David and their children Mark and Matthew of Pine Bluff.
There will be a memorial service Thursday, at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in the Chapel officiated by Reverend Jeannie Burton. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home,
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
Virginia Mae Hetterick Haustein
Virginia Mae Hetterick Haustein, 80, of Little Rock, died Saturday, February 22, 2003. She was born in Little Rock to Conrad and Lena Maack Hetterick. She was a graduate of Little Rock High School and in 1947 she and Raymond Haustein were married
.
She had been a member of First Lutheran Church in Little Rock. Virginia loved to walk, walking three to six miles a day with her neighbors. Survivors include her husband, Ray, and eleven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and two sisters. The family would like to thank all of her neighbors for their generosity and kindness. A graveside funeral service scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Hills Memorial Park is cancelled.
Graveside funeral service for Virginia Mae Hetterick Haustein is rescheduled for Thursday Feb. 27, 2003 2:00 pm at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski Co. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home.
Stella L. Hood
Stella L. Hood, 87 of Little Rock passed away Tuesday (Nov. 25, 2003) at her home. She was born July 7, 1916, in Jackson, MS to the late George Washington Gardner and Alma Ethel Buntyn Gardner. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. (Bill) Hood. Mrs. Hood was a graduate of Cotton Plant High School and Draughan School of Business. She was president of Hood and Company Real Estate. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church of over 60 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean Vernich; one sister, Jewell B. Carlock; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday (Nov. 28, 2003) at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church.

Laura Woolridge Hopson
Laura Wooldridge Hopson died in a local nursing home on November 22, 2003. She was born in Little Rock on June 14, 1905, to Robert d'Orsay and Sophia Hotze Wooldridge, both deceased. She was educated in the Little Rock Public Schools, and graduated from Wellesley College. Through Wellesley Alumna affairs, she became a close friend of Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, a friendship lasting a life time. There was a touch of irony in the friendship as her late husband, Colonel William D. Hopson, was an early and distinguished member of the Flying Tigers stationed in China in World War II.
Mrs. Hopson was married
to Colonel-Hopson in the Hotze House where she had resided from birth. She took great pride in the home which was a residential showplace in the early days of Little Rock.
Mrs. Hopson is survived by three nieces of her husband, Marie Taylor and Jane Ward of Little Rock, and Carolyn Rosenfield of River Ridge, Louisiana.
A private family interment was conducted at Mt. Holly cemetery, Little Rock, on December 2, 2003. Memorials may be made to Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts 02482, or to a favorite charity.

Yvonne Dell Hylton
Yvonne Dell Hylton of Little Rock, died Sunday, September 14, 2003. She was the daughter of William Wesley Hylton, Jr. and Alladean Delores Corbin Hylton.
Yvonne was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. She graduated from Arkansas Tech and pursued her dream of becoming a social worker. As a child care specialist she dedicated more than three decades to the protection of the least - and the most important - among us: the children.
She is survived by her brother, William Wesley Hylton, III and his wife, Marsha Clark Hylton, two nephews, Brandon Todd Hylton and William Scott Hylton and a grand nephew, Nathaniel Wesley Hylton.
Graveside services will be held at I p.m. Wednesday, September 17th at Riverside cemetery, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.

Douglas Leroy Johnson
Douglas Leroy Johnson, 80, of Little Rock, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 4, 2003. He was born in Gering, NE and during high school joined the U. S. Army. He served in the Aleutian Islands during WWII as a First Sergeant. On December 29, 1949 he and Peggy Jane Hewett were married
. After his discharge, he went to watch repair school and moved to Stuttgart where he worked for Denman's Jewelry. In the early 1970's he started Custodian Supply, Inc. retiring in 1992. He was a founding member and one of the first congregational presidents of First Lutheran Church in Little Rock, later he became a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church. He and his wife were members of the Square Rounders Square Dance Club for over forty years. He is survived by his wife, a son, Steven Johnson, a daughter, Pamela Johnson Hooper and her husband, Dr. Sanford Hooper all of Little Rock, a sister, Gladys Stewart of Gering, NE, and granddaughters Michelle Hooper of Little Rock, and Sarah Hooper of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2003, at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Jilg officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Hazel Craig Jordan
Hazel Craig Jordan of Little Rock, an educator retired from the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, died March, 8th 2003, just 9 days before her 95th birthday. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Mark T. Jordan, with whom she co-founded Cantrell Cardens.
Mrs. Jordan was reared in Strong, the eldest of eight children. After her mothers death when she was fifteen, she assisted with the rearing of her brothers and sisters, still finding time to pursue her studies, be an active 4-H Club member, state and national winner, and – in 1929- a member of the first Arkansas group to attend a national meeting in Washington D.C.
Mrs. Jordan taught school and did other jobs to earn money to extend her fathers assistance so that she may attend college. She started her college work at the two year Agricultural and Mechanical College in Magnolia and earned her Bachelors Degree in home economics and her Masters Degree in sociology from the University of Arkansas. She did graduate work at the Universities of Arkansas, California, and Wisconsin and at Columbia and Cornell Universities.
Mrs. Jordan was employed for 35 years in the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, starting in 1934 as Home Demonstration Agent in Howard County. Later, she was Home Demonstration Agent in Miller County, Northwest District Home Demonstration Agent, State Home Demonstration Agent and State Leader of Extension Home Economics- the position from which she retired in 1969.
Don Douglas LaVoy
Don Douglas LaVoy, age 78, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003. He was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army 36th Infantry Division in Europe. He was a member of Markham Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by two step-daughters, Sheila Lynn Mory of Little Rock, Charlotte Ann Bauer and husband Don of Bentonville, Arkansas, one brother Bryon LaVoy of Arkadelphia, and brother-in-law Bill Harris of Little Rock, five step-grandchildren and two step, great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, followed Saturday at 2 pm with a graveside service at Forest Hills cemetery officiated by Mr. Frankie Long
Frieda Eileen McClure Lowe
Frieda Eileen McClure Lowe of Little Rock died Friday, April 04, 2003, at the age of 86. Her husband, Chester C. Lowe, Sr. and her parents, Jane and H. Major McClure, predeceased her. She was a bookkeeper, homemaker and a former member of First United Methodist Church. A son, Chester Lowe, Jr. and his wife, Janie and a daughter Diana House and her husband Carl, all of Little Rock survive her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called her Dot Dot. Four grandchildren, Brad Eberle and his wife Diane, Mandy Eberle Rash and her husband Jim, all of Little Rock, Catherine Lowe Reber and her husband Kevin of Tulsa and Mitchell Lowe and his wife, Ann of Little Rock also survive her. Six great grandchildren survive her, Parker and Patrick Scoggins, Brandon, Rebecca and Rachael Eberle and Miriam Jane Reber.
The family will greet friends at Ruebel Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4:00 p.m. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Roselawn Memorial Park, by Dr. Karen Akin. Herbert Alfred Kiecker
Herbert Alfred Kiecker, age 81, of Little Rock, died July 24, 2003. Mr. Kiecker was born May 31, 1918 in Rochester, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. Returning to Minnesota he obtained a teaching position in ice-skating in Akron, Ohio for 2 years. In 1940 he began working for Prudential Insurance Company holding numerous positions before his retirement in 1976.
One sister Margaret Walczak of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and several nieces and nephews survive him.

Merlin Joe Kilbury
Merlin Joe Kilbury, M.D. of Bigelow, Arkansas, died Friday, January 10, 2003. He was born in Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock High School. He later graduated 3rd in his class at Vanderbilt University and graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Center in 1945, serving his internship at St. Vincent Infirmary. He entered the service serving in the U.S. Army as an officer in the Far East. He returned to be Assistant Resident of Surgery at Barnes Hospital from 1951-52, and Co-Resident in surgery from 1952-53. He was a member of the American Board of Surgery Fellow, the Pulaski County Medical Assistant Society Boss of The Year in 1971, Chairman of the Regional Advisory Group in 1972, and from 1978 thru 1990 served as Chief Medical Officer at the Little Rock Military Processing Station. Merlin was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where he served on the Vestry and also in the position of Senior Warden, and he was the President of the American Cancer Society of Arkansas Division from 1965, 66, 67. Merlin was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and during his college years a Southwest Champion handball player.
He is survived by his wife Patsy May Kilbury of Bigelow, three sons Merlin Joe Kilbury, III and wife Diane of Tulsa, Robert Farabee Kilbury and wife Gale of Sherman, Illinois, David Graham Kilbury and wife Brenda of Little Rock, two daughters; Julie Hawkins and husband Carroll of Little Rock, Stella Mullins and husband Ronnie of Morrilton, Arkansas, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
There will be visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 P.M. at Ruebel Funeral Home, followed Monday with 11:00 A.M. funeral service at the funeral home chapel officiated by The very Reverend Henry Hudson.
Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
