Rita Marie Pozzi Kyle (Dee-Dee)
Rita Marie Pozzi Kyle (Dee-Dee) passed away July 3, 2003. Mrs. Kyle was born May 22, 1913, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and was a devoted Catholic. She was educated in Philadelphia where she attended Mater Misericordia Academy through finishing school and received a registered nursing certificate from Misericordia Hospital in 1936. In 1941 she married
Slater George Kyle who passed away in Hot Springs in 1959. As a single parent with 5 children, ranging in age from 13 months to 11 years, she stressed to them the importance of education, herself returning to college and earning a Bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Texas at Dallas at the age of 65. All five of her children graduated from college and four obtained post graduate degrees.
Her children, Dolly Kyle Browning (Robert) of Dallas, Walter Kyle (Deirdre) of West Barnsstable, Massachusetts, Bill Kyle of Little Rock, Rick Kyle (Catherine) of Rogers, and Dorcy Kyle Corbin (Justice Don) of Little Rock survive her. Dee-Dee is also survived by her grandchildren, Paula Hastings, Teresa Hastings Keathley, Leesa Hastings Watkins, Anthony Pearson; Robert, Tori, and Ryan Kyle; Stephanie and JoAnna Kyle; Elizabeth Kyle; Kyle, Jennifer, Allison, Slater, and Ashley Corbin. One great-grandson, Collier Scott Watkins, also survives her.
There will be a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Little Rock with Monsignors Scott Marczuk and David LeSieur officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary cemetery in Hot Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Bessie Stathakis Lytle
Bessie Stathakis Lytle, age 85, of Little Rock, died Monday, February 24, 2003. She was born in Little Rock where she graduated from Little Rock High School. She later became a teller for First National Bank for over 40 years. She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. She is predeceased by her husband, C. J. Lytle who died in 1978.
Mrs. Lytle is survived by 2 stepsons Jack Lytle and wife Lori of Little Rock, William Lytle and wife Marion of Huntsville, Alabama, one sister Christine S. McKinney of Little Rock, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
There will be a visitation Wednesday, from 6 to 8 pm with a 6:30pm Memorial Prayers service at Ruebel Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church officiated by Reverend Doctor Nicholas Verdaris. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Lt. Col. Norman Porter Magers, Jr.
Lt. Col. Norman Porter Magers, Jr. USAF (ret) Age 84 of Little Rock, died of congestive heart failure at home on July 18, 2003, surrounded by his loving family.
Norman "Tony" Magers was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 13, 1918. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and studied Electrical Engineering at Iowa State College in Ames. He was drafted into the US Army in 1941. He graduated from Officers' Candidate School and Provost Marshal General School. As a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps he was assigned to West Point in 1942. He served in the European Theater in World War II and the occupation of Germany 1944-1947. He was Headquarters Company commander in the 831 Aviation Engineers and Security Officer during the construction of the Rhine Main Air Force Base near Frankfurt, which was used as the main airport for the Berlin airlift of 1948.
Norm was discharged as a Captain and a decorated war veteran in 1947. Three years later he was recalled into the Strategic Air Command and assigned to Ben Guareeer Air Base in Morocco. He later served at March Field in California (1852-58), England (1958-59) and Little Rock Air Force Base (1959-64) as Base Deputy Commander for Security and Law Enforcement. His service at Little Rock included special security responsibilities in Central Arkansas during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1964 he was transferred to Offutt AFB, Omaha, Nebraska, headquarters of the Strategic Air Command, where he commanded the SAC Elite Guard. He was greatly respected by his men, and the members of the Elite Guard gave a special farewell parade in his honor upon his retirement in July 1966. At that time he also received the Air Force Commendation Medal.
After retirement from the Air Force, Norm returned to Little Rock where he worked for ten years as vice-president and audio-visual specialist with Educators' Service Center. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Heights Optimist Club. After his second retirement, he focused his energies on his hobbies of carpentry, gardening and travel. He remodeled his house, built custom furniture, and delighted his granddaughters with hand-made custom-designed doll houses. Norm and his wife enjoyed their travel abroad and in all 50 states. In 1997 he attended the opening ceremony of the American Air Museum in Duxford, England, as a founding member of the museum, which honors American airmen who served their country in Britain during World War II.
Norman is survived by his wife Bea Fugua Magers; his sons Norman P. Magers III (Altlanta, GA), James B. Magers (North Little Rock); his daughter Pamela C. Magers (San Francisco, CA); his step-son Richard Hegenberger (Charleston, NC); step-daughter Carla Fishman (New Orleans, LA); and nine grandchildren.
There will be a private family interment. The memorial service followed by a reception will take place at 3 pm Sunday, July 20, at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church, 4401 Woodlawn, Little Rock. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church.
Shirley Dee Maxwell
Shirley Dee Maxwell, age 87, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2003. Born in McRae, Arkansas February 27, 1916, she was the daughter of Roxie Dura and Paul A. Drake. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family and friends will cherish their memories of her witty sense of humor and compassion for others.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Otis Maxwell, and her daughter Paula Dee Maxwell Hubbard. She is survived by her two grandsons Alan Hubbard and his wife Jan; John Paul Hubbard and his wife Anna; three great-grandchildren Alex, Max, and Hannah; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Shirley retired as secretary from the U. S. Army Little Rock District Recruiting Command. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. She earned an associates degree in music from the University of New Mexico. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, U. S. Civil Service Commission, and American Legion Auxiliary.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Tuesday June 24, 2003 at 10:00 am with interment to follow in the columbarium. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Mississippi, Little Rock, or your favorite charity. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.
Ruthie Bee Turnbow May
Ruthie Bee Turnbow May, beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister and helping hand to many, passed away while asleep in her home in Little Rock on March 25, 2003. Ruthie is survived by her wonderful young son, Kevin Joshua Sullivan, 5 years old, her parents, Daniel L. and LaVena L. Turnbow, one sister, Jeanne Turnbow Knox and her husband, Jim, two nephews, James E. Knox III and Daniel Knox all of Little Rock.
Ruthie is preceded in death by Kevin's father, Timothy Sullivan of the home, who died January 31, 2001. She held joint degrees in Psychology and Biology from Hendrix College of Conway and U.A.L.R. of Little Rock, all attained with admirable grade standings.
Ruthie Bee was a kind, caring and concerned person alarmed by the many needy, homeless and generally forgotten people of our life today. She never turned these away and helped them in everyway she could throughout her short life. She also attracted stray and helpless animals and cared for them as well. In this way she left this troubled world better than before she came.
We, her family of loved ones, will miss her, her charming face and her beautiful blue eyes all the years of our lives.

Ann Presley Pittman
Ann Presley Pittman, 89, died April 9, 2001 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born April 11, 1911 in Marble, Arkansas, daughter of the late Ordie M. Presley and Mattie Elizabeth Hudson Presley. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Pittman, and her son, Judge Mermon H. Potter. Mrs. Pittman is survived by a daughter-in-law, Anna Vrantsinas Potter of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and a granddaughter, Angela Pittman Potter of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be Thursday, April 12, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Roselawn cemetery. The Reverend Larry Benefield officiating.

William Evans Place
William Evans Place, age 78, of Little Rock died Monday, August 20, 2001. He was born in Gillett, AR to Ralph and Evans Barnes Place. He was a 1945 graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and first taught school in Gillett before moving with his parents to Parkdale, AR. He joined the Postal Administration and became the Postmaster at Parkdale. Mr. Place was an administrator for the Arkansas Rehabilitation Administration in El Dorado, AR before he and his late wife, Vera Warfield Place founded Place Nursing Home in Wilmot, AR serving one term as President of the Arkansas Nursing Home Association and also serving on the State Board of Nursing.
He was elected Mayor of Wilmot and served for over twenty years. In 1986 he married
the former Sally Smith McGaughy and moved to Little Rock in 1989. He then worked for the Arkansas Department of Human Services in the Long Term Care Division for over ten years, until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church, where he served as a Stephen Minister and as an usher. He was also an avid Razorback fan and long time member of the Little Rock Razorback Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sara, one son, William Evans Place, II and his wife Susan of Ann Arbor, MI, one daughter, Wendy W. Place of Little Rock and step-daughters, Leslie Turley and her husband Rex of Rogers AR, Linda Inebnet and her husband Tommy of Hot Springs, Cindy Harris and her husband Mike, and Ginger Townsend and her husband Mike all of Little Rock, one grandson, Daniel Place and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and a daughter, Susan Warfield Place.
A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m.Wednesday at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a visitation from 6:30-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church with burial of cremated remains at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Wilmot cemetery, Wilmot, AR.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic School or the Monsignor Allen Trust Fund.

Socorro Matew Plumey
Socorro Mateo Plumey, 85, of Little Rock died Tuesday, July 24, 2001. She was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico and was married
to Angelo Plumey, Sr. After living in New York for several years Mrs. Plumey moved to Little Rock in 1986 after the death of her husband. She did volunteer work for SCAT and loved to quilt and do needlepoint. She was of the Catholic faith.
Mrs. Plumey is survived by a daughter, Rosemarie Nunn and her husband, Dr.Gary Nunn of Little Rock and a son, Angelo Plumey, Jr. of Chicago, IL, brothers and sisters in Florida and grandchildren, Gary Nunn, Jr., Angelo Plumey, III, Ricky Plumey, Tony Plumey, and Angela Plumey.
There will be a Rosary held at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a graveside funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1101 W. Markham, 72211.

Albert Sidney Pollard III
Albert Sidney Pollard, III "Sid", 57, of Little Rock, died June 6, 2001, after a lengthy illness. Although unable to speak, Sid communicated his love for family and friends through his engaging smile and expressive eyes. Sid loved being at home surrounded by his family and participating in family gatherings. He was honored to be the first wheelchair student to graduate from Little Rock Central High in 1965. He will be remembered for his loving, giving nature by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Hart Pollard. Survivors include: his father, Albert Sidney Pollard, Jr.; brother, Hugh Hart Pollard (Amy); sisters, Nancy Blackstone (Jack) and Alice Ahart (Larry); and nieces, Julie and Elizabeth Foote.
Graveside services will be Saturday, June 9, 2001 at 2:00 PM in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Television Ministry at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church or a favorite charity. Family visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 7, at Ruebel Funeral Home.

Nancy Ann Popperfuss
Nancy Ann Popperfuss, 73, of Little Rock, died Saturday April 28, 2001. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Henry John and Nancy Key Popperfuss, and the niece of the late Mabel Key and Frank John Wassell. She moved to Little Rock with her mother where she graduated from Little Rock High School attending Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and later graduating from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a B.A. degree in English in 1949. She returned to Little Rock where she began teaching English at Little Rock Central High School and Hall High School. She also received her Masters degree in English from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Nancy's excellence in teaching was recognized by her being selected to grade advanced placement and college entrance examines on a national level. She was a member of the Aesthetic Club, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Little Rock, a member of The Arkansas Arts Center, and a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Nancy is survived by first cousins John L. Brockenbrough and wife Hanna of Houston, Texas, Barbara Wickell and husband Dan of Chicago, and Betsy Goldsmith of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
There will be a funeral service Tuesday, May 1st, at 1 P.M. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson. Burial will follow services at Mount Holly cemetery.
Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
