Norma C. Thompson
Norma C. Thompson, passed away in a Little Rock nursing home on Friday, March 16, 2001 five days shy of her 85th birthday. She was a life long resident of Marked Tree and Poinsett County until moving to Little Rock in 1995 to be near her family in the later years of her life. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Little Rock. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband of over forty-five years, W. H. (Bill) Thompson, who, at the time of his death in 1981, was the senior member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, having been first elected to the House from Poinsett County in 1953. In a special election called to fill the vacancy created by his death, Mrs. Thompson was elected to the House in 1981 to serve the remainder of Mr. Thompson's term through 1982. Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker, an avid reader, enjoyed travelling here and abroad and visiting her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, William Powell (Bill) Thompson and his wife Marianne of Fort Smith, AR Michael Greenwood Thompson and his wife, Suzanne of New Orleans, LA and Charles Nicholas (Nick) Thompson and his wife Mary of Little Rock and two daughters, Nancy Marie Herdlinger and her husband David of Sea Island, GA and Janet Pierce Berry of Dallas, TX. A third son, Norman Patrick Thompson, preceded her in death in 1977. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Marked Tree cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Little Rock, or Arkansas Hospice, Bldg. 66 R.65, 2200 Ft. Roots Dr., N. Little Rock, AR 72114.

Mary Holt Truemper
Mary Holt Truemper, age 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at her daughter's home in Charlotte, NC, following a brief illness. There will be a memorial service Saturday, June 16, at 10:00 am, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. The interment will be private at Roselawn cemetery. The family will be at the home of Lyda and Tom Samuel, 173 Pleasant Valley Drive in Little Rock.
A native of Little Rock, AR, Mrs. Truemper was the daughter of the late William and Lyda Reid. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Judge J. Frank Holt in 1983. Ms. Truemper is survived by her husband Joe B. Truemper of Little Rock, AR. After graduation from Little Rock High School, she attended Little Rock Junior College (UALR) and later the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she majored in business. Mrs. Truemper was a former State Chairman of UNICEF, a volunteer with the Red Cross as well as a former member of the Junior League of Little Rock. Mrs. Truemper was the wife of a lawyer-politician and the mother of two girls, but she still found time to open her own dress shop in Little Rock, The Clothes Horse, which she ran successfully for many years. In 1979 she was elected to the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis on which she served for over four years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Truemper is survived by her two daughters, Lyda Samuel and her husband, Tom of Little Rock, AR, and Melissa Vandiver and her husband, Tom of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Chris and Andrew Samuel of Little Rock, AR, and Ben and Kate Vandiver of Charlotte, NC.

Grover C. Tuley, Jr.
Mr. Grover C. Tuley, Jr. 85, of Little Rock, AR died Sunday, April 8, 2001. He was born in Obion, Tennessee. As a boy Mr. Tuley loved to build amateur radios and went on in life to do service work on radios, TVs and electronic organs. He could repair just about anything that had wires and most enjoyed his work on church organs, doing work for Colaianni Piano and Organ Co. as well as other individuals around the state. He retired in 1986. While a young family man he lived in Miami, FL and served in the Civil Service.
He was married
to Gladys Ross Tuley, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Patricia Burkin of Fayetteville, Janice Heflin, of Arlington, TX and Jerry Tuley of Albuquerque, NM, brother, Jimmy Tuley, of Little Rock, and ten grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 9-10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. His body will be cremated and burial of remains will be at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.

Lora E. Thibeault Turgeon
Lora E. (Thibeault) Turgeon, 82, of 45 Singletary Road, died in her home on Thursday, May 10, after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 56 years, Paul A. Turgeon; two sons: Paul A. Turgeon, Jr. of Northbridge, MA, and Bernard J. Turgeon of Little Rock, AR; a daughter, Denise A. Kilfoil of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Norma C. Benoit of Worcester, MA; 3 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A sister, Ann M. Thibeault of Millbury, died in 1995.
She was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Alphonse S. and Evangeline M. (Brouillard) Thibeault, on August 15, 1918. She was a lifelong resident of Millbury and graduated from Millbury High School in 1938.
Mrs. Turgeon co-owned and assisted in the operation of Turgeon Funeral Homes of Millbury and Northbridge for many years.
She served the town of Millbury as secretary of the Board of Selectman, secretary of the Rationing Board during World War II, as an assistant Tax Collector, and as a Registrar of Voters for many years.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, it Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, and its St. Anne's Guild. She was a member of the parish choir, and the parish council for many years. She was a member of the Millbury Women's Club, the Franco-American Progressive Club, Millbury, and the Cercle Jeanne Mance, Worcester.
The funeral will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 15, in Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 10 Waters Street. Burial will be in Central cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, May 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm Members of the St. Anne's Guild will meet at 7:30 pm on Monday, May 14, in the funeral home to conduct their ritual. Lacrecia Ann Marie Uptain
Lacrecia Ann Marie Uptain, age 4 years, of Little Rock, died Friday, July 6, 2001. Lacrecia was born in Little Rock December 17, 1996. She will be missed and loved dearly by her family. She will always be their sunshine and precious angel. She is survived by her parents Dale Uptain, Jr. and Charlotte Chism Uptain both of Little Rock, one brother Steven Uptain of Little Rock, her maternal grandparents Patricia Button and Jurda Holland, her paternal grandmother Virginia Trice, and she was predeceased by her paternal grandfather Carl Trice, Sr. who died in 1997.
There will be a formal visitation today (Sunday) from 4 to 6 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Monday by a service in the Chapel of the funeral home at 9 A.M. officiated by Pastor George Strickland. Ross Bingham Vandever
Ross Bingham Vandever, 85, born July 30, 1915 in Fredonia, Kansas, son of the late Charles DeWitt and Dora Bell Bingham Vandever, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at his home. Mr. Vandever graduated from high school in Kansas and attended Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, graduating in 1937. He worked for Orbit Valve Company in Little Rock, retiring in 1980 as a Vice President and Chief Engineer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy where he was a pilot, flying in the South Pacific. Mr. Vandever was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine E. Vandever of Little Rock, two sons, William R. Vandever of Ward, Arkansas, James S. Vandever of Little Rock, two daughters, Linda J. Maxwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Laura L. Bingham of Denton, Texas; a brother, Rollin Vandever; grandchildren, Carolyn Maxwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, William Ross Vandever, II and Allison Vandever both of Ward, Ryan Bingham and Alissa Bingham both of Denton.
Services will be Friday, June 8, 2001 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Vic Nixon. Inurnment will be Monday, at 11:00 AM in Fredonia cemetery, Fredonia, Kansas by Timmons Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Gerald "Buddy" Lee Waddell
Gerald "Buddy" Lee Waddell, age 87, of Little Rock, died Saturday, January 13, 2001. He was born in Osceola, Arkansas where he graduated from high school. Having served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II he later became a retail merchant owning and operating Waddell Jewelry and Gift of Osceola which he maintained for over 30 years. While in Osceola he was very active at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Rotary Club International, Kawanis Club, The United Way, and the Osceola Country Club. In 1998 he and his wife moved to Little Rock residing at Pleasant Hills Retirement Community. In Little Rock he was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. Buddy was thought of as a kind man. His hobbies were helping others, and being with his grandchildren, and it was often said that he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Rose Williams Waddell of Little Rock, one daughter Gay Anderson and her husband Bob of Little Rock, one sister Anna V. Hudson of West Memphis, three grandchildren Heather Brown, Robert and Chris Anderson, 4 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Kat, and Brennan Anderson and Robert Shaw. There will be Mass of Christian Burial at Christ The King Catholic Church at 11 A. M. Tuesday, followed by burial at Roselawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Marjorie Virginia Sharp Wage
Marjorie Virginia Sharp Wage, age 76, of Little Rock, died February 25, 2001. She was born in Little Rock where she graduated for Little Rock Central High School. She was graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville receiving her degree in business administration, and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Returning to Little Rock she married
James Martin Wage in 1948. After raising two boys she worked for Western Paper Company retiring after 20 years. Mrs. Wage was a member of PEO, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and a past President of the Little Rock Bridge Association, receiving her Life Masters in duplicate bridge. She also enjoyed directing games.
She is survived by one son James R. Wage and wife J. B. of Lewisville, Texas, one sister Beryl Jones and husband Ken of Sachse, Texas, and one granddaughter Emily Wage. She is preceded in death by a son, John S. Wage who died in September of 2000, and her husband James who died January of 2001. There will be a memorial service Thursday, March 1st, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church officiated by The Reverend Edward Morgan. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Sue Ellen Jones Walker
Sue Ellen Jones Walker, age 84 of Little Rock, Died Saturday, May 26, 2001. She was born in Hope, Arkansas. Mrs. Walker graduated from Hope High School before attended the University of Arkansas in Magolia, and later graduated from Draughon Business School. After her schooling she became a legal Secretary of A.F.C.O. Steel in Little Rock, retiring after 20 plus years of service. She was a Methodist.
Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by her husband James Woodis Walker who died in 1995. She is survived by two daughters Judy Lynch Smithy and husband Woody of Sheridan, Arkansas, Carol Walker of Little Rock, one sister Freida Hill of Venice, Florida, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside funeral service Monday at 1 P.M. at the Rosehill cemetery in Hope, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lucy Mae Battle Weedon
Lucy Mae Battle Weedon, of Little Rock, died Saturday, July 28, 2001. She was born on May 27, 1909 in Muldoon, TX to Mae Jones and Richard Brundridge Battle. She was the widow of John W. Weedon. She is survived by two sisters: Myrtle B. Stacey of Waco, TX and Edna B. Fleming of Little Rock and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Carleen B. Huitt, Lena B. Blackburn and Virginia B. Garvin and a brother, William B. Battle. Mrs. Weedon graduated in the first class of Little Rock Senior High in 1928. She was a life long member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church where she was active as a Sunday School Teacher, Girls Auxilary leader and Church Secretary. She was retired from Union National Bank.
A service of celebration of her 92 years will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at the Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, by Dr. Randy Hyde. A private burial will be held prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice or Pulaski Heights Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
Bernard P. Whetstone
Bernard P. Whetstone, age 88, of Little Rock, died Thursday, February 22, 2001, after a long illiness. He was born in Crossett, Arkansas the son of the late Bernard Pugh and Ally Patterson Whetstone. Mr. Whetstone graduated from Crossett High School before graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, receiving his Bachelor of Law and Doctorate of Juris Prudence. He began his practice in 1934 in El Dorado, and at the time the youngest lawyer practicing in Arkansas. He married
Carolyn Dill in 1940 beginning 60 years of marriage. They moved to Little Rock in 1968 continuing his law practice and in 1969 his son Bud joined him in the practice. Mr. Whetstone retired in 1999. He was a twenty five year member of the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado teaching Men's Bible Class. In Little Rock he was a founder, charter member of St. James United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Dill Whetstone of Little Rock, one son Bud Whetstone and wife Julie of Little Rock, four daughters Ruth Wagner and husband Bill of Tampa, Florida, B.K. Wetstone Smith of Houston, Texas, Martha Whetstone of San Francisco, California, Becky Whetstone Gonzalez and husband Congressman Charlie of San Antonio, Texas, 9 grandchildren Tracy Thompson Nonweiler, Caroline Thompson Logan, Lee Whetstone, Whet Smith, Benjamin Schmidt, Casey Marie Schmidt, Annie Zanobini, Kate Zanobini, 3 great-grandchildren Jake, Dalton and Sophie Nonweiler, and is predeceased in death by one grandson Dalton Whetstone who died in 1997.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 P.M. today, Friday, at Ruebel Funeral Home. There will be a private family graveside service officiated by Reverend Betsy Singleton Bauer. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
