Esra Samuel Cook
Esra Samuel Cook, age 96 of Little Rock died Tuesday. He was a member of Pulaski Heights Methodist Church and was serving as a member of the Board of Stewards at the time of his death. A 33rd degree Mason, he was a longtime active member of many Masonic organization of both the York and the Scottish rites and won highest honors for his devoted service. He retired as office manager and accountant for F. Strauss and Sons in 1982 and as accountant for Hall's Drug Store in 1990.
Born on September 18, 1907, in Wiville, Arkansas, the eldest son of Esra Samuel Cook, senior, and Cora Robertson Matkin Cook. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Daphne Terrell Cook, brothers Wyatt, Nicholas, Ernest Bo Matkin, and Fred Cook, and by sister Katherine Cook Kincaid of Tampa, Florida. He is survived by a brother, Francis Cook of North Little Rock, daughters and sons-in-law Rose Lynette and H. Delano Black of Memphis and Mary Diane and Gerald R. Wachholz of Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren Scott Neal, Dylan Black, Stacy Riebel, and Leslie Black; and by five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 26 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church with the graveside service following at 3:00 p.m. at Murfreesboro cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Louise Emma Coxon
Louise Emma Coxon, age 96, of Little Rock, died July 29, 2003. She was born February 23, 1907 in Belleville, IL. to Rose Sir Louis and Adolph Knebelkamp, Sr. A devoted wife and mother, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Josiah Coxon and brother, Adolph Knebelkamp, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Robert L. Coxon and daughter, Judith A. Young and husband Jimmy R.; grandchildren, Susan L. Young Allen, and husband Scott, and David Alan Young and wife Mary Maurice; and great grandchildren, Emma Bryles Allen and Henry Jackson Allen.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2003 at Ruebel Funeral Home with graveside services immediately following at 11:30 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park with the Very Reverend Henry Hudson officiating.

August Ewin Cravens
August Ewin Cravens, age 70, of Little Rock, formally of Newport, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003. August was born in Newport, Arkansas where he graduated from Newport High School, class of 1952, later graduating from Arkansas State College in 1956. He served three years in the U.S. Army with duty in Okinawa, Japan. After the service he returned to the States teaching school for several years retiring from Cheyenne Industries. August was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Newport, Arkansas.
He is survived by his sister Betty Cravens and husband John, "Chuck" of Little Rock, one brother, Lewis A. Cravens and wife Anna Rae of Jonesboro, 2 nephews Price Gardner, and Brooks Cravens, one niece Lisa Gardner Ring, 2 special grand-nieces and 2 special grand-nephews.
There will a graveside memorial service Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Sand Hill cemetery in Auvergne, Arkansas officiated by Reverend Alan Ford. Local arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Lucile Critz
Lucile Critz, age 94, of Little Rock, died Saturday, January 11, 2003. She was born in Harrison, Arkansas. She was the owner of Critz Chevrolet serving as president of the company during World War II. She was one of the founders of the Civil Air Patrol, Arkansas Wing, and hosted some of the meetings of the original nucleus of the group. She was graded C.A.P. 1st Lieutenant, and assigned as Transportation Officer, Group 741. She was a member of the Country Club of Little Rock, an avid golfer and followed the Arkansas golf circuit for several years. She was a member of First Christian Church. Lucile was a very popular socially and was known for her sense of humor, which often added spirit to the lives of others.
She is preceded in death by a brother John M. Critz and survived by his widow, Jane H. Critz.
She is also survived by a brother, Robert L. Critz and wife Joy of Lahabra, California, four nephews; John M. “Martin” Critz, Hall, Rogers and Stephen Critz, three nieces Jane Anne Smith Jerry Lu Wagnon and Jennifer Fisher.
There will a visitation held Tuesday from 4 to 6 P.M. at Ruebel Funeral Home followed Wednesday at 2 P.M. with a graveside funeral service at Roselawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Judy G. Crume
Judy G. Crume, age 62, of Little Rock, died May 24, 2003. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Judy graduated from Hall High School before attending Hendrix College in Conway. After school she married
having two children, Michael and Catherine. She enjoyed writing, gardening and reading. Her working career included secretary in the marketing department of Union National Bank and in 1982 she joined the staff at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as secretary to the Managing Editor. Raised in the Jewish faith, Judy later became a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church.
She is survived by her mother Cody Lawrence of Hot Springs, one son Michael W. Crume and wife Naomi of Little Rock, one daughter Catherine C. Wallace and husband William of Wilson, North Caroline, one brother Richard Green of Sherwood, and two grandchildren; Keaton and Alyssa Crume.
There will be a visitation Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at Ruebel Funeral Home, followed Thursday with a graveside service at the Oakland cemetery, Jewish Section at 11am. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Fred K. Darragh
Fred K. Darragh, age 86, of Little Rock, died March 20, 2003. Retired Chairman of the Board of Darragh Company Agribusiness, Fred attended the University of Pennsylvania, and the Wharton School, class of 1938. He was also on the board of directors of J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. and Skyway Commuter Airlines until it’s sale to Midwest Airlines. He was an Episcopalian having served on the Vestry of Christ Episcopal, St. Mark’s Episcopal, and St. Michael’s where he was once Senior Warden. He also was on the board of Camp Mitchell, Standing Committee of The Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas, member of World Mission Committee, and Deputy to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church: South Bend, Louisville and Houston. Of all of the many civic offices held he was most proud of his military experience which included being one of the pilots that flew “The Hump” during World War II. A Major in the Army Air Corp, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, and in 1988 presented a pair of Pilot Wings from the Chinese Air Force. In 1962 he was honored as Pilot of The Year by the National Pilot’s Association, and in 1999 he was inducted into the Arkansas Aviation Hall of Fame. Other honors bestowed Fred included the Humanitarian Award of the Arkansas Council of The National Conference of Christians and Jews, Arkansas Civil Libertarian of the Year by the ACLU, and the Fred Darragh Center of Intellectual Freedom at the Central Arkansas Library System, which is a meeting room at Library named for Fred, with endowed yearly lectures.
Fred is survived by his brother, Ted Darragh and wife Babs of Little Rock, and 7 nieces and nephews.
There will a visitation of friends from 2 to 5pm Sunday, at Fred’s home, #6 River Mountain Road.
There will be a memorial funeral service for Fred Monday at 10am at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church followed by burial of Ashes at St. Mark’s Episcopal Garden officiated by The Reverend Susan Paine. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
Charles Richard Dillon
Charles Richard Dillon of Little Rock died Sunday, December 7, 2003. He was born in England, Arkansas on October 26, 1926 to Giles Werdna Dillon and his wife, Sarah Frances Millen. Charles spent his childhood in Morrilton, where his parents owned a men's clothing store and the "Star Shop" Cleaners. Upon High School graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army during WWII. He participated in the Army Specialized Training Program at Oklahoma A&M. While in basic training at Fort Hood, TX, he gained the honor of Officer Candidate for training at Fort Benning, GA. Upon the death of his father, he was discharged from the military to return to Morrilton to take care of his mother and run the family business.
The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville was where he earned his Business Administration Bachelor's Degree, happily as a Kappa Sigma Fraternity member. He retired after 45 years as an insurance executive. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hunt, and play golf. He was an active member at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Lion's Club and the Razorback Foundation. He was a very loving and wonderful husband and father, devoted to his family. He and Deane celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in October.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, of Richmond, VA, two daughters, Deborah Gentry and her husband Trip, and Charlene Kane and her husband Steve all of Little Rock and four grandchildren, Christian Lauren, Katherine and Chris and numerous friends and relatives.
A visitation with the family will be held at the family home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday in Elmwood cemetery Morrilton, officiated by Deacon Larry Jegley. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Cremation services arranged by Ruebel Funeral Home.
Margret Manees Eastham
Margret Manees Eastham, of Little Rock, died June 14, 2003. Margret was born June 4, 1916 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to E.O. and Alma Manees. She was a graduate of North Little Rock High School and Central Baptist College. Margret was married
for 47 years to the late Clark Eastham.
Mrs. Eastham was a proud member of The Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon, elder, and President of the Women of the Church. She also served on the teaching staff of the church where she delighted in teaching preschool children for many years. She was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club where she was chairman of the 9th Hole Woman's Golf Association.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward O. Manees ; her sisters, Elva Tolbert, Louise Willbanks, Mildred Cameron Harville, Martha Morley, and Jayme Dreher Mouser. Also preceding her in death was her first husband, J.B. Reaves., who died in 1943.
Mrs. Eastham is survived by one sister, Julia Gentry of Carmel, CA.. She is also survived by her nieces, Julianne Honey, Janet Jones, Betty Ketcher and Mary Gayle Williams; her nephews, Allen Cameron, Jack Gentry, Jay Gentry, Henry Allen Dreher, Edward Dreher, Dick Morley Dreher, Randy Carter, and Bill Curry. In addition she is survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 16, 2003 at The Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church with Rev. Floyd Whatley officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Charles Shaver Ellis
Charles Shaver Ellis, age 89, of Little Rock, died of a heart attack Thursday, June 12, 2003 at UAMS Medical Center. Charles served in World War II as a Chief Warrant Officer and an assistant to the Chief of Staff of the 20th Armored Division. His unit was one of the first to enter the Berlin at the close of the war. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service.
Mr. Ellis was a very popular court reporter for over 35 years, traveling to five counties in Central Arkansas.
Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patsy Sue Ellis; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. C.S. Ellis of Lonoke; brother, Van Ellis of Walnut Ridge. Survivors include a sister, Mary Morton of Florida, nieces Ginger Murry of Little Rock, Marguerite Dory of Cabot, nephews Charles Ellis of Clinton, Micheal Ellis of Southlake, Texas, Larry Morton of Little Rock, David Morton and Tommy Morton of Florida. Mr. Ellis is also survived by a host of Great Nieces and Nephews and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
Although he lost his beloved Patsy, the last year of his life was happy, thanks to his excellent caretakers ; Anita Gorham, Paula Gibson, and B.J. King. The family wishes to thank UAMS, his doctors and nurses and the Reynolds Center where he enjoyed exercising with the trainers.
There will be a graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Park at 11:00 am Monday, June 16, 2003 . There will be a gathering of friends at his home following the service. Memorials may be made to the Pulaski Humane Society or your favorite charity. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.
Ethel Marie Evans
Ethel Marie Evans, age 87, of Little Rock, died Friday, January 3, 2003. She was born January 12, 1915, in Garland County. She was a long time member of Al-Anon Family Group. She was a graduate of Little Rock High School and a Presbyterian.
She is survived by her husband Jack O. Evans, Sr., three sons Jack O. Evans, Jr. and wife Mimi, Jerry W. Evans, and James S. Evans all of Little Rock, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grand-children.
There will be a memorial service Monday at 3 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend B.J. King.

Miriam Frances Glover Fagan
Miriam Frances Glover Fagan, 74, of Little Rock, died Thursday, February 27, 2003. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. Frances was born November 30, 1928, in Lonoke, Arkansas. She graduated from Lonoke High School in 1946 and attended Hendrix College in Conway.
Frances was active in her church and many civic and charitable organizations. She served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Second Presbyterian Church. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, PTA President at Pulaski Heights Junior High School, and she was a past junior board member of the Florence Crittenden Home. Frances was an early volunteer for the Little Rock Civic Ballet, the fore-runner of Ballet Arkansas.
For many years Frances was involved with American Field Service, a foreign exchange student program, which led to a joyful, decades long relationship with Else Hope Kobbe of Bergen, Norway, whom she regarded as a daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Smith and Edna Gilbert Glover of Lonoke as well as her grandparents, S.S. and Charity Lou Glover, early members of the Lonoke Community, and Fred and Savannah Gilbert who settled in Lonoke from Minnesota.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ellis M. Fagan III; two sons and daughters-in-law and one daughter and son-in-law: David and Nancy Fagan of Scottsdale, Arizona; Fran and Joe Holmes and Warren and Pam Fagan, all of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Anna Mabrey of Tempe, Arizona, and Winston and Carter Fagan of Scottsdale, Arizona.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock by Dr. Karen Akin. Private burial will be at Roselawn cemetery.

Julia Jane Norton Flack
Julia Jane Norton Flack of Little Rock and Heber Springs, died at her Eden Isle home on June 13, 2003. She was born April 27, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Amelia and Richard Norton. During her eight-year battle with ovarian cancer she remained very active and always focused on the positives in life, especially family and friends. Her courage and strength in facing her illness was a true inspiration of the human spirit to everyone who knew her.
Jane grew up in Blytheville, Jonesboro, and Little Rock. She was chosen as a 1952 Greater Little Rock Rose Festival Princess and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1952, where she was a member of the Southernaires Club. She attended Hendrix College in Conway and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Jane was actively involved in her community through out her life. She was president of the 20th Century Club and Arkansas Children's Hospital Auxiliary. She served on the board of C.A.R.T.I. and was an active volunteer with St. Vincent's Infirmary Reach for Recovery program for victims of breast cancer. She was a member of the Marketers Investment Club, Scattered Seeds Garden Club and the Country Club of Little Rock. In 1980 she co-founded New Traditions, a women's clothing boutique, where for 15 years, she helped to develop it into a thriving Heights Institution.
Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Dr. James V. Flack of Eden Isle and Little Rock; her son, Dr. Jim Flack of Houston, TX; two daughters, Laura Flack of Austin, TX, and Cathy Murphy and her husband Warren Murphy of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Jay, John and Mark Murphy. A sister-in-law, Mary Bess Flack Mullholan of Hilton Head, South Carolina, also survives her.
"Lady Jane" as many knew her, loved cooking, entertaining, gardening and interior decorating. She was a woman of quiet elegance, poise, beauty and kindness who will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.

Marian Thorpe Flake, age 93, of Little Rock, died, Wednesday, March 5, 2003. She is survived by her sister Helen Hoke of Little Rock, a brother Clifford Thorpe of Little Rock, a son Morgan Flake of Little Rock, three daughters, Sue Kochel and Husband Guy of Jonesboro, Ruth Healy and husband Joe of Little Rock, Trisha Norton and husband Bob of Benton, 6 grandchildren; Kerri Garrison, Kristy Kirby, Charles Kochel, Mike, Kevin, and Brian Norton, and 6 great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, March 8th at 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverend Howard Gordon.
