Ellen Johnson
CLARKSVILLE — Ellen Lorene Daniel Johnson, 85, of Lamar died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Lamar.
She was born Nov. 24, 1924, and was an Avon representative and raised cattle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton Johnson; her parents, Seldon Daniel and Ada Reynolds Daniel; and sisters, Helen Colvin and Ruth Cowell.
Survivors include two sons, S.D. Colvin and Charles Colvin of Lamar; a daughter, Teressa Shaw of Lamar; a brother, James Daniel of Lamar; three sisters, Louise Miller of Clarksville, Anna Bruce of Bloomfield, Mo., and Mary Causey of Sikeston, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Holman Free Will Baptist Church at Lamar with the Rev. Geno Johnston and the Rev. Herbert Tilley officiating. Burial will be in Holman cemetery. Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral home.
Pallbearers:
Active — Darrell Shaw III, D.J. Shaw, Daniel Shaw, Kenny Colvin, Kevin Colvin and Aaron Cole.
Honorary — Leon Bachus, Marty Wilkins, Donald Wilkins, Steve Crotts, Gary Crotts, Brian Hale, Kevin Colvin II, Matthew Colvin and Zac Colvin.

Geraldine Moran
Geraldine Elouise Moran, 86, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010.
She was born July 16, 1923, in El Paso, Ark., to Harvey B. and Elizabeth Lindsey Smith.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, W.E. “Buddy” and Elaine Moran of Cabot, three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Tom Plunkett of Dardanelle, Janie and Raymond McGhee of Bryant, and Willa and Jerry Pinkerton of Little Rock; three sisters; four sisters-in-law; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Oak Grove cemetery in Austin.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home.

Evelyn Brooks
Evelyn Brooks, age 94, of Russellville died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 10, 1915, at Dover to Claude and Eula Leavell Hottinger. She was a member of North New Hope Assembly of God near Dover, and was also a devoted Christian and loving mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlin P. Brooks; one son, Donald W. Brooks; two grandsons, Shelby Brooks and Bobby Zeringue; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons and three daughters-in-law, Myrna Brooks of Dover, John and Joann Brooks of Covina, Calif., and James and Nancy Brooks of Dover; two daughters and one son-in-law, Laura and Bill Vinson, and Barbara Zeringue, all of Russellville; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Helen Hottinger of Dover; one sister, Maryzell McClendon of Russellville; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at North New Hope Assembly of God near Dover with Rev. Dean Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in North New Hope cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

William Wright
ATKINS — William “Bill” Oscar Wright, 78, of Atkins died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
Born Dec. 13, 1931, in Atkins, he was the son of the late Earnest Oscar and Olgie Jackson Wright. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Wright, and a daughter, Helen Ann Frith. He was a member of People for a Better Atkins and served with Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wright of Atkins; two sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Barbara Wright and Daniel and Marilyn Clark; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Campbell; sisters, Georgia Haralson, Janette Haralson, Lavern Massingill and Louise Rachel; grandchildren, Dani Campbell, Joseph Campbell, Cassie Campbell, Steven Clark, Harrison Clark, Allison Clark, Jane Park, Theresa Ferrara, Sheri Dombrow and Brian Humphries; and great-grandchildren, Amanda Dombrow, Theresa Dombrow, Aedan and Riley Ferrara, Calla and Elsa Park, and Padraig Humphries.
The family will have private memorial services at a later date in California.

Georgia Haralson
ATKINS — Georgia Mae “Dixie” Haralson, 84, of Atkins, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at her home.
Georgia was born March 27, 1925, in Atkins, and was the daughter of the late Earnest and Olgie Jackson Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil “Bob” Haralson; a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Kaylin Goates; and two brothers, David Wright and William Wright. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Atkins Extension Homemakers Club and Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert S. Haralson of Atkins, and Philip D. and Deidre Haralson of North Little Rock; a daughter and son-in-law, Ramona K. and Jerry Trew of Little Rock; three sisters, Jeanette Haralson of Atkins, Laverne Massingill of Morrilton and Louise Rachel of Kissimmee, Fla.; grandchildren, Kimberly Standridge, Melanie Ward, Rowdy Sweet, Delaney Haralson, Mike Durden and Jimmy Robinson; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 608 tonight.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of the Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Memorial may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2405 E. Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, AR 72802

Marvin Emerson
Marvin Eugene Emerson, 85, a resident of Oceano, Calif., who had been living with his daughter in Russellville for the past year, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 30, 1924, at Bakersfield, Calif., to Elmer and Berna Roderick Emerson. He retired from Texaco (Chevron) after 35 years and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in California and was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois Emerson; and a brother, Loren Emerson.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Edna Lou Smith Emerson of Oceano, Calif.; a son, Gary Wayne Emerson of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dennis Wright of Russellville; a stepdaughter, Susan Wright of Oceano, Calif.; two grandchildren, Amry Still and husband, Tim, and Denise Peiffer of Richland, Wash.; four great-grandchildren, Dominic, Kayla and Cyndal, all of Richland, Wash., and Kyle of Colorado; and other relatives and friends.
There will be a memorial service held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Steve Barnham
Steve Barnham, 56, of Russellville, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2010.
Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Mary Plugge
CLARKSVILLE — Mary Josephine “Jo” Scott Plugge, 85, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.
She was born July 29, 1924, to George Scott and Jessie Ball Scott in Tulsa, Okla., where she spent her early childhood. As a young girl she moved with her family to Hartman where she met her future husband and companion of more than 50 years, Wilfred R. “Fred” Plugge. They were inseparable as they traveled and explored the world together. Returning to Tulsa after retirement, they were members of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Jo later attended St. Benedict Church in Broken Arrow. Jo will be remembered for her spirit, her contagious smile and her courage as she battled many health issues these past years. She was an inspiration to her family and friends who will miss her.
Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel.
Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery at Hartman.

Arvil L. Chancey
Arvil L. Chancey, 82, of Russellville, formerly of Ozark, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at his home.
The son of Lloyd and Gladys McKenzie Chancey, he was born Dec. 20, 1927 in Cecil, Ark. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Arvil was of the Baptist faith and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Darlene Chancey.
Survivors include son, Edward Chancey of Russellville; three daughters, Susan Campbell of Russellville, Gaile Kendrick of Russellville and Karen Greer of Dardanelle; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sherman Chancey of Ozark and L.D. Chancey of Pixley, Calif.; and three sisters-in-law, Vera Bramlett, Bea Gossage and Wanda Gossage all of Ozark.
Service arrangements will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Bud Hancock
DANVILLE — Bud Hancock, 86, of Danville died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville.
He was born July 29, 1923, in the Ranger community to Joe and Ila Bailey Hancock. He worked in the hardware, appliance and building supply business for 52 years and was a member, deacon and retired Sunday School teacher for the Danville First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge 41 for more than 50 years, a 32nd degree Mason and past master, and past active member of the Danville Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Norma Lee Hancock; brother, Gerald Wade Hancock; and sisters O’Neita May and Velta Joe Hancock.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mildred Stroud Hancock; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Jim Douglas of Clarksville; son and daughter-in-law, J. E. “Jim” and Sandy Hancock of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Neal and Kim Douglas of Clarksville, Julie Douglas Currier of Clarksville, and Madison Bailey and Bentley James Hancock of Hot Springs; great-grandchildren, Alex and Elizabeth Currier and MaKenzie and Morgan Douglas, all of Clarksville; brother, Richard Hancock of Belleville; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and A.D. Morris of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at the Danville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Staley and the Rev. Keith Kluthe and with Masonic Rites. Burial will be in Earl Ladd cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville.
Pallbearers include Joe Taylor, Tom Gray, Doug Miller, Dr. Forrest Moudy, Waymon Sides, Pledger Ball, Tom May and Glenn Mott.
Honorary pallbearers include Tom Gray’s Men 5 Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2009.

Rex Callan
DARDANELLE — Rex Lamont Callan, 81, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Brearley cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
