Becky Gaines

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Becky Gaines, age 60, of Franklin, formerly of Memphis, died Dec. 14 at Williamson County Medical Center.

While in Memphis, she was the 1996 chairwoman of the Memphis Heart Gala. She was a member of the Episcopal Church at Franklin.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today in Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be from 9-11 a.m. today.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Kenneth Gaines of Franklin; three daughters, Shelly Dugger of Benton, Ashley Scatamacchia of Memphis, and Quinn Breckenridge of Franklin; three sons, Phillip McMaster of Franklin, and Neil and Logan Gaines; grandchildren, Kelsey Dugger of Benton, and Austin, Alec and Baylor Breckenridge, and Mallory McMaster, all of Franklin; mother, Jean Quinn Baehrel of Jonesboro; mother-in-law, Geraldine Gaines; and brothers, Wade and Ed Quinn of Jonesboro.

Kathelene Glenn

FISHER -- Kathelene Glenn, 90, of Fisher died Tuesday at Rose SkilCare Nursing Center.

A lifelong resident of Fisher, she was a member of the Fisher Church of Christ and the Fisher Home Demonstration Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Glenn; a grandson, Wesley Glenn; two brothers, Lloyd and C.M. Dodd; and a son-in-law.

Survivors include three sons, Clyde Glenn of St. Charles, Mo., Bob Glenn of Boonville, Mo., and Bill Glenn of Fisher; two daughters, Wanda Ferguson of Jonesboro and Mary Ann Jungling of Aplington, Iowa; one brother, James Dodd of Webster Grove, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Fisher Church of Christ. Service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Fisher Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be sent to the St. Bernard's Hospice, Fisher Church of Christ or Paragould Children's Home.

A.L. Hoaney

JUDSONIA -- A.L. Hoaney, 71, of Judsonia, formerly of Evening Shade, died Thursday, Dec. 15, in the White County Medical Center at Searcy. He was born Aug. 4, 1934, at Evening Shade to Columbus Shelby and Bunis Rogers Hoaney.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday in the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel at Cave City with the Revs. Larry Morris and Johnny Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery located north of Evening Shade with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today.

John Randolph Osment

FORREST CITY -- John R. Osment, age 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the First Baptist Hospital at Forrest City.

He was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Macy. He lived in Jonesboro during the early years of his life, graduating from Jonesboro High in 1940. He was a member of the Hurricane's Run-of-State Championship in basketball in the late 1930s and was chosen for the All-State team for four years, in ninth through 12th grades.

Osment went to Arkansas State University for one semester before being called to active duty with Battery C, 206 Artillery Battalion of the Army during World War II. He served in the Aleutian Islands and at posts in the United States from 1941-1945. After discharge, he worked for Reliable Insurance Company and served as district manager in Stuttgart, Little Rock, and finally Forrest City, where he retired. Osment, a Freemason, was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Forrest City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Osment of Jonesboro; three brothers, Barney, "Hot" and Lyle Thorn; and two sisters, Mildred and Hettye. He is survived by his daughter, Terry Boudreaux and her husband Dave Tolley of Houston; his son, Michael Boudreaux and his wife Phyllis of Lynchburg, Va.; and two sisters, Marye Osment Bishop of Jonesboro and Sue Osment Jones of Conway.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today graveside in Oaklawn Cemetery at Jonesboro. Visitation was held Friday. Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home.

Robert Gene Williams

MARKED TREE -- Robert Gene Williams, age 58, of Marked Tree died Dec. 15 in NEA Medical Center at Jonesboro of a pulmonary embolism.

Born on May 30, 1947, in Beedeville, he was a foreman at Ritter and Co. farm shop and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben Williams and Elsie Brush. Survivors include his wife, Connie Williams of Marked Tree; two daughters, Kim Perkins of Naples, Fla., and Misty Cantrell of Trumann; three sons, Lonnie Eugene Williams of Missouri, and Casey Timbs and Ben Williams of Marked Tree; one sister, Mary Jo Thompson of Trumann; one brother, Wesley Williams of Black Rock; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday in Wilson Funeral Home at Tyronza with Mark Constant officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home.

Lorene Baldwin

PARAGOULD -- Lorene Baldwin, 90, of Paragould died Dec. 16 at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 26, 1915, in Paragould, she was a retired housekeeper for the C.B. Smith Hotel and a member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Helen and Glen Lamb of Paragould, Shirley and Jerry Swain of Marmaduke, and Karen Close of Quail Valley, Calif.; seven sons and five daughters-in-law, Leon and Shirley Baldwin of Marmaduke, Donald Baldwin, Richard Baldwin, Gary and Charlotte Baldwin, Cletis and Billie Sue Baldwin and Tommy and Theresa Baldwin, all of Paragould, and Jim and Donnie Baldwin of Florissant, Mo.; one sister, Estella Johnson of Oak Grove; 12 granddaughters; 11 grandsons; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; a dear friend, Bob Pickens of Paragould; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae Phillips; her husband, Floyd P. Baldwin; three sisters; and one great-grandson, Bradley Pillow.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Wooldridge officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Baldwin, Ted Lamb, Alan Baldwin, Robert Pillow, Scott Baldwin, Junior Baldwin, Anthony Baldwin, Bobby Edgar, Bob Pickens and Justin Baldwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Baldwin and Nick Baldwin.

Ernest Blair

JONESBORO -- Ernest "Ernie" Blair, 92, of Jonesboro died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at his home.

He was born in Woodside Queens, N.Y., and moved to Jonesboro in 1957, moving here from Elyria, Ohio.

He was retired from Colson Casters as an administrative assistant to the vice president and general manager of Colson. He was a volunteer for the United Way, a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Scout Master for Troop 7 of the Boy Scouts of America and the Order of the Arrow. He was a volunteer at AHEC Medical Library and a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Wilson Smith Blair; two brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include wife, Peggy Blair of the home; sons, Robert Blair, Little Rock, Roger Blair, Corning, and David Blair and Richard Blair, both of Jonesboro; stepsons, Rick Smith and Ronnie Smith, of Jonesboro; daughter, Susan Erwin, Corning; stepdaughter, Joyce Seabaugh, Jonesboro; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Schaller officiating with burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers are Stephen Blair, Shane Davis, Colin Blair, Michael Lair, Ben Erwin, Jacob Smith, Alex Smith and Mathew Tonymon.

Honorary pallbearers are Ed Gill, Paul Rothgery, Fred Sitz and Dr. Donald Guinn.

For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family requests consideration of the NEA Humane Society, P.O. Box 1042, Jonesboro 72402, or the First Presbyterian Church, PMB 405 Southwest Drive, Jonesboro 72401, or a charity of your choice.

Willie Lee Bond Sr.

OSCEOLA -- Willie Lee Bond Sr., 74, of Osceola died Dec. 16 at SMC Regional Medical Center in Osceola.

Born Dec. 12, 1932, at Brownsville, Tenn., he was a retired construction worker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Green of Brownsville, Tenn., and Donna Hampton of Osceola; two sons, Willie Lee Bond Jr. and William Alex Bond, both of Memphis; a sister, Fannie Mitchell of Osceola; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Carney; his parents, Willie Houston and Bessie Patton Bond; and a brother.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Osceola with Dr. Moses Black officiating. Burial will be in Whiteside Cemetery at Osceola with Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Glenna Aline Caruthers

SALEM -- Glenna Aline Caruthers, 75, longtime resident of Salem, was born Glenna Aline Holder on Aug. 14, 1930, at Union Hill. She died Dec. 17, 2005, at her home.

She was united in marriage to Orbie McCullough in 1962 at Coloma, Mich. He preceded her in death in 1988 and in 1993 she married J.B. Caruthers. She retired from Heath Company in St. Joseph, Mich., in 1976 and moved back to Salem. She enjoyed sewing, collecting antiques, going to auctions and dancing with her late husband, J.B. Caruthers, who preceded her in death in March 2005. She also enjoyed many wonderful friends and special family gatherings where her brothers and sisters would sing and play music.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha Jane Falcone of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; her granddaughter, Tracy Lyn Spenner of Berrien Center, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Lyn, Steven Rex, Rebecca Grace and Natalie Aline; six stepchildren, Eddie Guy McCullough of Indiana, Roger McCullough of Florida, Linda Louthen and Carol Henry, both of Indiana, Bill Caruthers of Chandler, Ariz., and Fran Foltz of Evansville, Ind.; 26 stepgrandchildren and 29 step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ules Ray Holder of Lake Ozark, Mo., I.J. Holder of Trumann, and Larry Holder of Indianapolis; six sisters, Ellen Dean Gentry of Walnut Ridge, Flossie Jane Smith of Cash, Freda May Rhodes of Otwell, Mary Ann McCurn of Indianapolis, Carolyn Ann Russell of Greenfield, Ind., and Sharon Kay Huskey of Swifton.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a sister, Hazel Rosetta Sisk in 1965; a brother, Otis Lee Holder in 1998; her father, Isaak James Holder in 1976; and her mother, Martha Bell Headley Holder in 1982.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cox-Blevins Chapel with burial in Morriston Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
