Mr. Jimmy Moorehead, 70, of Newport died Friday, July 2, 2010. He was born August 25, 1939 at Newport, the son of Jim and O’Neal (Malone) Moorehead. Mr. Moorehead was retired from the Jackson County Landfill, and a member of Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and telling stories. Mr. Moorehead was preceded in death by his parents; on brother, Major “Red” Moorehead; and one granddaughter, Jessica Moorehead. He is survived by his wife, Reda (Mullins) Moorehead; one son, Jack Moorehead of Illinois; four daughters, Lesia Lamastus of Springdale, Teresa Czekalski of Killeen, Texas, Nicole Davis of Junction City, Arkansas, and Melanie Story of Bradford, Arkansas; three sisters, Jennie Ward of Searcy, Wilma Whaley of Griffithville, and Thelma Clemons of Newport; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Albert Mullins and Bro. Thom Stapleton officiating. Interment will be in Lampkins Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Clemons, Johnny Arter, Ferrell Whaley, Terry Whaley, Rodney Moorehead, and Alvin Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby McDougal, Greg Dunahay, Jimmy Dunahay, Morris Dunivan, Jimmy Prine, John Clemons, and Ernie Skinner.

Annie Maye Elder died July 2, 2010 in Newport, Arkansas after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Eastlake and worked at J.J. Newberry Department Store from 1968 to 1986. She was preceded by her husband, Leon K. Ann was beloved by all that knew her. She is survived by her sons, Leon K., Jr. and James A.; four grandchildren, Sherry Bartlett, Kenneth Elder, James A. Elder, Jr., and Buffy Elder; eight grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Monday, July 5, 2010 at Jackson's Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 9 at Western Memorial Garden Cemetery
in Chesterland, Ohio. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Mr. Bobby Junior Mann of Newport, Arkansas departed this life on Monday, July 5, 2010 at the age of seventy-five. He was born May 6, 1935 in Indianola, Mississippi, the son of Mr. Ernest Preston and Mamie Mann. Mr. Mann was a retired farmer, a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, and was involved in the Newport Senior Citizen’s Circle. He loved John Wayne westerns, and enjoyed John Hagie Ministries. Mr. Mann spent his free time deer hunting, duck hunting, fishing, and spending time with his brothers, cousin Bill, and family at the shop. He cherished his time with his children, grandchildren, and his wife, Mrs. Shirley Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Ernest Preston Mann and Mrs. Mamie Mann; and his brother, Wayne Mann. Mr. Mann is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Mann of Newport; three sons, Bobby Mann, Ronnie Mann, and Donnie Mann and wife Rhonda, all of Newport; four sisters, Maxine Miller of Newport, Judy Carlisle of Heber Springs, Brenda Martin of Cherry Valley, and Marlene McWilliams of Buckeye, Arizona; four brothers, Cecil Mann of Floral, Neal Mann of Newport, Albert “Jody” Mann of Remmel, and Jimmy Mann of Beedeville; eight grandchildren, Ricky Burress of Bradford, Jim Burress of Judsonia, Ashley Shows of Conway, Brandy Young of Lexington, Kentucky, Preston Mann of Texarkana, Arkansas, Greg Wagster of Newport, Luke Wagster of Newport, and Britney Mann of Newport; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many family members and friends.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ernest Evans officiating. Interment will be in Balch-Johnston Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Geneva (Thompson) Morrison, 93, of Newport died Friday, July 09, 2010 l She was born September 30, 1916, of Hickory Grove, Arkansas, the daughter of Everett and Pearl (Bengel) Thompson. Mrs. Morrison was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and flower gardening. Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Samuel Morrison; one son, John Roy Morrison; three brothers, Everett “Buddy” Thompson, Stanley Thompson, and Bill Thompson; sisters, Dorothy Sutherland, Jean O’Banion, and two infant sisters. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Hart of Bradford, and Mildred Beck of Monticello; one grandchild, Rhonda Yates; one great-grandson; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Bennie Willis Daniels, 85, of Newark died Friday, July 9, 2010. He was born January 7, 1925 at Guion, the son of Charley and Maude Marie (Landers) Daniels. Mr. Daniels worked at Victor Metal over fifty years, and was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved riding horses and participating in horse shows. Mr. Daniels loved to dance, and danced actively at the Silver Moon until he was eighty-four. He had a dance partner for fifteen years, and together they won many contests. He especially enjoyed dancing a waltz. Mr. Daniels led an active life, learning to water ski in his fifties. He also learned to fly, and enjoyed gardening, providing vegetables to his friends and neighbors in Newark. Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his parents; and twin sisters, Ena Price and Lena House. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Helen (Gardner) Daniels; one son, Perry Daniels of Little Rock; two daughters, Catherine Kramer and husband G.L. of Memphis, Tennessee, and Teresa Crotts of Newport; one sister, Bobbie Tate of Newark; six grandchildren, Stephanie Howell and husband Mike, Jennifer Lisenko and husband Vladimir, Trey Crotts, Shad Crotts and wife Marla, Marissa Crotts, and Vanessa Tharp and husband Brayden; seven great-grandchildren, Abigail and Audrey Howell, Michael and Kyle Lisenko, Liam and Nevin Crotts, and Kylee Crotts; and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 1:30 p.m. until service time.

Mr. James A. Anschultz, 59, of Newport died Sunday, July 11, 2010. He was born February 14, 1951 at Grubbs, the son of Rube Allen and Della (Bradley) Anschultz. He was a self-employed carpenter, and was a member of Central Baptist Church at Newport. Mr. Anschultz enjoyed fishing, hunting, hunting arrowheads, and collecting antiques and coins. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Airman First Class Ashley Anschultz; and his parents. Mr. Anschultz is survived by one son, Kaleb Anschultz of Grubbs; one daughter, Misty Corner of Benton; two brothers, Lannas Anschultz of Alveton, Kentucky and R.K. Anschultz of Grubbs; three sisters, Loretta Lindeman of Seagoville, Texas, Dot Nicholson of Newport, and Sharon Clausen of Newport; and four grandchildren, Michael, Shawn, Brittney, and Jasmine.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Anna Ruth (Smith) James, 89, of Swifton died Monday, July 12, 2010. She was born June 3, 1921 at Swifton, the daughter of Vena and Homer Smith. Mrs. James was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading and working cross-word puzzles. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence James; and three brothers, Junior Paul Smith, Marvin Smith, and Jerry Smith. She is survived by one son, Samuel James and wife Kay of Brighton, Michigan; one daughter, Suzy Dunlap of Swifton; two brothers, Shelby Smith and wife Debbie of Houston, Texas and Benny Smith and wife Lola of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Shawn Carr and husband Brad of Boise, Idaho; two grandsons, Jeff James and wife Tammy of Dexter, Michigan and Douglas James and wife Laurie of New Boston, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Savanna Skeen, Cary Skeen, Dylan Carr, Colton Carr, Shelbea James, Mackenzie James, Owen James, Emma James, and Chloe James; and one great-great-granddaughter, Hayden Skeen.

Mr. Tommy Adams, 66, of Weiner, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010. He was born January 18, 1944 at Newport, the son of Charlie Lawrence and Mary Louise (Hallmark) Adams. Mr. Adams was a former farmhand, and of the Church of God belief. He was a United States Army veteran, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved to cook. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Adams; and eight infant siblings. He is survived by eight brothers, Lawrence Adams, Allen Adams, Jimmy Adams, Edward Adams, Lloyd Adams, Bennie Adams, Terry Adams, and Doug Adams; four sisters, Freda Thornton, Uvel Williford, Wilma Tubbs, and Shawna Pierce; several nieces and nephews; and one aunt, Ruby Whitney.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 12:30 until service time.

Mr. Elwood S. Vines, 90, of Grubbs died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Jonesboro. He was born December 14, 1919 at Melbourne, Arkansas, the son of John Thomas and Ruth (Gillihan) Vines. He married Miss Pauline Howard on March 6, 1943. Mr. Vines was a press operator at Victor Metal until his retirement, and a member of the Ballew’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. Mr. Vines enjoyed spending time with people, and working with the church. Mr. Vines was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Howard Vines; one daughter, Phyllis Dian Vines; and six brothers, Lawrence, Ralph, Theodore, Elton, Cecil, and Dearl. He is survived by two sons, Alvin Glen Vines and wife Sandra of Grubbs and Dr. Troy Alan Vines and wife Sharon of Jonesboro; one sister, Etna Ahart of North Little Rock; five grandchildren, Chris Vines, Patrice Anschultz, Shea Vines, Amy Shumate, and Eric Vines; and six great-grandchildren, Delaney Vines, Blake Vines, Kyleigh Vines, Braden Vines, Hayden Shumate, and Halle Shumate.

Mrs. Naomi Bradley McNutt, 96, of Tuckerman passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Newport. She was born June 29, 1914 in Charlotte, Arkansas, the daughter of Samuel and Viola Victoria Bradley. Mrs. McNutt was a member of the Church of Christ. She will long be remembered for her sweet and gentle spirit and a high degree of integrity and Christian love for others. She gave her heart and life to Jesus at an early age and lived all her life as a Christian example. Mrs. McNutt was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Andrew McNutt; an infant son; her parents; five brothers, Elson, Everett, Earnest, Claude, and Raymond Bradley; and one sister, Virgie Bradley Ballard. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara McNutt and Jane McNutt, of the home, and Mable McNutt Marlowe and husband Gerald of Russellville; one son, Jimmy McNutt of Tuckerman; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hazel Hall, 97, of Newport died Sunday, July 25, 2010. She was born December 22, 1912 at Independence County, the daughter of William and Ada (Brewer) Hines. Mrs. Hall was a homemaker, and a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking. In her younger years, she had enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Henry Hall; three sisters, Alice Hanley, Evelyn Lacy, and Agnes Johnson. She is survived by two sons, William H. “Bill” Hall and wife Betty of Newark and Jimmy A. Hall and wife Linda of Ruston, Louisiana; one sister, Ruth Hubbel of Newport; one granddaughter, Susan Hall Elledge and husband Alvis; three step-grandchildren, Betty Ann Wyatt, Linda Deason, and Carolyn Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Allen and William Elledge; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Edna Francis (Stone) Williams, 71, of Salem died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Salem. She was born April 28, 1939 at Tupelo, the daughter of J.B. and Donnie ( White) Stone. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist belief. She had volunteered at Lofin Middle School, and enjoyed watching her grandsons playing sports, and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Williams; her father. She is survived by her mother, Donnie ( White) Stone; three daughters, Lynn Largent Duke of Weiner, Leeann Largent Ferguson of Weiner, and R. Sue Sharley of Burleson, Texas; three brothers, John Stone of Salem, Richard Stone of Mechanicsburg, Illinois, and Roger Stone of Newport, Arkansas; one sister, Charlene Sockle of Taylorville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Braden Duke, Joe Ferguson, Shelby Sharley, and David Marsh; and her close friend, Brenda Jones.
