Thomas Gindler
CLARKSVILLE — Thomas Louis Gindler, 47, of Lamar died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Lamar.
He was born Oct. 4, 1961, in Los Angeles, Calif., and was chief engineer on a tow boat for the Corps of Engineers where he worked for 19 years. He served in the National Guard for six years and was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Grobark Gindler.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Gindler; sons, Chad Acord of Lamar, and James Randall and Mike Randall, both of Little Rock; daughters, Adrienne Gindler and Bridgett Reynolds, both of Lamar; father, Louis H. Gindler of Lamar, father, Delbert Wynn and wife, Charlotte, of Colorado; mother, Terri Eastman of Colorado; brothers, Randy Wynn, Rick Wynn and Rob Wynn, all of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Cathy Stalcup and husband, Benji, of Lamar, Jana Eastman of Denver, Colo., and Melissa Mendoza; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father William Wewers. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer cemetery by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include James Randall, Mike Bagley, Joe Palmer, Clint Vinson, Tommy Guther and Jason Rhinehart.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
B.J. Martin
B.J. Martin, 69, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, with his family around him.
He was born May 28, 1939, in London, Ark., to Ira and Clara (Eledge) Martin. B.J. married
Sue Lawrence on April 9, 1960. Two children were born to this union. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. In his spare time you would often find him enjoying a round of golf or a spirited game of pool.
B.J. is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sue; his children, Kirk Martin and his wife, Sue, and Kim Morris and her husband, Lloyd; sister, Joyce Srader; his beloved grandson, Joseph Martin; great-granddaughter, Danica Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Oklahoma City, Okla.
Ariel Saenz
Ariel Dawn Saenz was born and died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009.
Survivors include her parents, Joe and Katie Saenz of Russellville; a brother, Tattan Cummings; sisters, Kaitlyn Saenz and Grace Saenz; grandparents, Karin Scissel, Bonnie Saenz, and Cliff and Mary Cummings; great-grandparents, Howard and Dorthy Whooten; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Life in Jesus Trinity Church. Cremation arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
Velma Thompson
DANVILLE — Velma Dessie Thompson, 95, of Gravelly died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Mitchells Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Blackford to Grover and Mary Sutton Cost. She was a school teacher at Fourche Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Thompson; a brother, Alva Cost; and a sister, Bonnie Billingsley.
Survivors include a son, Buel Thompson of Gravelly; a sister, Elma Defoor of Desoto, Kan.; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Nola Church of Christ. Burial will be in Parks cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
Reba Boren
Reba Boren, 87, of Russellville went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center
Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Dardanelle First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Robert E. Adams and Rev. Eric Martin officiating. Burial will be at Brearley cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Van McAnulty
Lt. Col. Van P. “Mac” McAnulty (Ret.), 84, a resident of Russellville, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was born April 6, 1927, in Udall, Kan., to Merle Dowe and Eva Mae Fields McAnulty. He joined the United States Marine Corps and later graduated from Grenola High School in Kansas and from Kansas State University. He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force for 20 years and was a squadron commander upon retirement. He flew KC-135 refuelers and served in the Vietnam War.
He was best known for his indelible Irish humor, stubbornness and opinions and love of the outdoors. Among his greatest joys were a cabin he built in the Ozarks with family and friends. He was involved in several businesses and worked for Vinson Electric for many years. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the Kiwanis, where he was a two-time Kiwanian of the Year. He was active in the Boys and Girls Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Military Officers Association of America.
He was preceded in death by his parents, who lived in Grenola, Kan.; and a sister, Jean Ramsey.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna McAnulty of Russellville, originally from Howard, Kan.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Julia McAnulty of Muskogee, Okla., and John and Deborah McAnulty of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzy and Rusty Mullen of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Chase and Patrick McAnulty, all of Overland Park, Kan., and Chris and Ashley Mullen, both of Little Rock; a stepgrandson, Matthew Maul; great-granddaughter, Avery; and a niece, Cheri Carlisle of Las Vegas, Nev.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Shinn Funeral Service. All other arrangements are private and are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Paul Rachel
Paul N. Rachel, 94, a resident of Springdale, formerly of Lamar, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale.
He was born May 15, 1914, in Russellville to Walter Adam and Lillie Catherine Bramlet Rachel. He was a former sawmill operator for many years, operating in Pope and Johnson counties; was a former member of the Lamar Church of Christ where he served as elder and Sunday School teacher for many years; was a member of the Johnson Church of Christ in Johnson; and enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, playing cards and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mildred Lucille Pitman Rachel; four brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Vernell “Nell” Selby Rachel of Springdale; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Phillip Sanders of Springdale, Bonita and Alan Johnson of Little Rock and Joyce and Leon Strope of Fayetteville; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Ron and Lisa Selby of Sherwood; a sister, Sybil Lloyd of Georgetown, Texas; five grandchildren, Alnita Carroll, Stacie Holloway, Emily Johnson, Tammy Morrison and Kevin Strope; two step-grandsons, Jared and Joshua Selby; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Lamar Church of Christ with Mr. Dale G. Brown officiating.
Burial will be at the Lamar cemetery in Lamar under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers are Kevin Strope, Levi Strope, Russell Keck, Jared Selby, Phillip Carroll, John Holloway, Juuso Jankama and Joshua Selby.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Tanner, Selby Brown, Edwin Shinn and Gerald “Butch” Baurichter.

Rayburn B. Chronister, 82, of Russellville died Friday, April 10, 2009, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Rae Stockdale
CLARKSVILLE — Rae Jean Stockdale, 47, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her home.
She was born July 31, 1961, at Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Paul Willard.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Gilbert Stockdale; sons, Jason Stockdale of Clarksville and Matthew Stockdale of St. Joseph, Mo.; daughters, Daphne Kelly and husband, Kenneth, Amanda Hendrix and husband, Austin, Lisa Roman and husband, Paulino, and Marsha Stockdale, all of Clarksville; brothers, Kenneth Willard of Kansas City, Mo., Douglas Blackmon of Heber Springs and Ronald Blackmon of Kansas; sisters, Deborah Lyman of San Antonio, Texas, Linda Hill, Evelyn Pierce and Sandy Willard of Heber Springs, Mary Willard of Oregon and Tammy Willard of Kansas; 12 grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009, at the Church of Christ. Burial will be in Union Grove cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Michael Brown
Michael L. Brown (Mike), 47, of Russellville, formerly of Gillett, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
Mike was born Nov. 19, 1963, in Little Rock, to the late Lee Roy Brown and Flora Stene London Brown. Mike accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Saint John M.B.C. in Ethel, now Greater St. John M.B.C. Mike was educated in the Gillett Public School System in Gillett.
Mike served in the U.S. Army and received the Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, the Army Commendation medal, the Army Achievement medal, the Army Good Conduct medal, the National Defense Service Award, the Humanitarian Service Award, Non-commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Award, Overseas Service Ribbon and Drivers and Mechanic Badge W-Bar. Mike’s military education included, and is composed of, quality assurance evaluation course, contract officer, power generator and wheeled vehicle mechanic, TAMMS course, watercraft engineer and barge ferry engineer.
Mike later retired from active duty after more than 21 years and attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville where he received a bachelors degree in emergency and administrative management.
Mike was employed by the Boys and Girls Club of the Arkansas River Valley in Russellville.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Mike is survived by his wife of 22 years, Stephanie A. Freeman Brown of Russellville; one son, Jeremy Brown of Russellville; two daughters, Kenisha Brown and Brionna Brown, both of Russellville; four brothers, Mitchell (Sue) Brown and Gregory Brown, both of Gillett, Roy Brown of Little Rock, and Anthony (Daphne) Brown of Dumas; his father and mother in-law, Gaylon and Betty Freeman; two uncles, Willis and George; seven aunts, Pauline, Bessie, Betty, Atlouia, Lou Ella, Vernette and Alther Mae; three brothers-in-law, Mark, Gaylon and Tony Freeman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Fort Smith National cemetery in Fort Smith with Bro. Keith Kennamore officiating.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mt. Calvary M.B.C., located at State Highway 165 South in Gillett by McKinzie Funeral Home in Dewitt.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the L.V. Williamson Boys and Girls Club.
Jason Stringer
Jason Stringer, 40, of Russellville, formerly of Bentonville, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at his home.
The son of Melvin and Betty Stringer, he was born Dec. 27, 1970, in Jonesboro. He was a freelance graphic designer. He attended Washington Art Institute and was a poet, artist and a computer enthusiast. He was a member of the All Saints’ Episcopal Church. He enjoyed hiking, social networking, reading, poetry, art history and taking care of his cats.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Stringer; and maternal grandparents, Louie Burnett and Aletha Leona Burnett.
Survivors include his father, Melvin Stringer; his mother, Betty Stringer; his brother, David Stringer; his sister, Aletha White, all of Russellville; his grandmother, Faye Stringer of Little Rock; three nephews, Michael Stringer and Jake Stringer of Russellville and Ryan Ford of Jacksonville, Fla.; three nieces, Stephanie Tucker, Regan Stringer and Gabby Stringer, all of Russellville; and numerous, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Humphrey Funeral Service in Russellville. Pastor Johnny D. Minick will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
