Forrest Taylor
CLARKSVILLE — Forrest M. Taylor, 81, of Clarksville died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1928, at Clarksville, son of the late Argie J. and Mary Alice Evans Taylor, a retired peach and cattle farmer, and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include a brother, Troy Taylor of Clrksville; two nephews, Mark Taylor and Mike Taylor of Clarksville; six great-nephews and great-nieces; and an uncle, Alva Taylor of Clarksville.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Hardwicke Chapel with the Rev. George Willis officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery by Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Jay Potts, Larry Holben, Norman Sexton, Derrick Phillips, Bryan Rogers and Carl Rogers.

Victor Alba
Victor Luis Alba, 21 of Springdale died Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
He was born June 15, 1988, in Sacramento, Calif., to Victor and Frankie Kostic Alba. He worked for Tyson Ford Avenue and enjoyed canoeing and camping with friends.
Survivors include his parents, Victor and Frankie Alba of Springdale; two sisters, Dianna Alba of Russellville and Kristen Alba of Springdale; niece, Haley McGuigan of Russellville; nephew, Mark Aiden McGuigan of Russellville; several cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale. Interment will follow at Bluff cemetery.

Robert Bacon
DARDANELLE — Robert E. Bacon, 75, of New Blaine died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1934, in Connecticut and was a retired electrical worker in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Young Bacon; and a daughter, Klia Dangron of New Blaine.
Mr. Bacon donated his remains to medical science. Arrangements were by Cornwell Funeral Home.

Billy Smith
CLARKSVILLE — Billy Russell Smith, 63, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at his home.
He was born July 28, 1945, at Shinston, W. Va., son of Arnold Ruhl and Sybil Imogene Bates Smith. He was a retired truck driver and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lola Jane Searfose.
Survivors include two daughters, Summer Lloyd of Kosse, Texas, and Tracy “Sam” Smith of Austin, Texas; and two grandchildren, Sara Lloyd and Tyler Lloyd.
Cremation arrangements are by Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Donnie Williams
Donnie Paul Williams, 62, of Appleton passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at his home.
A son of the late Louis and Ada Williams, he was born April 13, 1947, in Arkansas. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jimmy Paul Jr. Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Williams of Russellville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Sammie and Debra Williams of Appleton, Joey and Julie Williams of Appleton, and Jimmy and Kitty Hamilton of Appleton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Beverly Williams of Russellville, and Patricia and Bert Watkins of Russellville; two sisters, Eva Snow of Appleton, and Shirley and Bob Hillis of Atkins; an aunt, Rachel McClain of Atkins; 13 grandchildren, Chris, Donnie and Tiffany Williams, Buba Gadberry, Shane Baker, Emma, Ethan and Waylon Hamilton, Marissa Hillis, and Kayle, Kasey, Mac and Liberty Watkins; six nephews; and a niece.
Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at White Oak Mountain at Appleton. Arrangements are by Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pete Vorster
Pete Vorster, 55, of Dardanelle died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at his home.
He was born Sept. 7, 1953, in Paris, Ark., to William Vorster and Anna (Rotert) Vorster Furstenberg.
He was a member of the Catholic Knights since 1954 serving on the National Board of Directors. He was a national boad member since July 2005. He previously served as branch president, treasurer, vice president and secretary as well as president and treasurer of the Catholic Knights state office. In the community, he served as a Eucharistic minister, usher and server for his church. He also coached his daughter’s softball team and was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was employed as an auditor with the Division of Legislative Audit for the State of Arkansas for 22 years and was a certified public accountant.
He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Vorster; a brother, Ben Vorster; and a sister, Kathy Vorster.
Pete is survived by his wife, Donna Carol (Ragsdale) Vorster; a son, William Vorster and a daughter, Laura Vorster of the home; his mother, Anna Vorster Furstenberg and stepfather, Adrian Furstenberg of Subiaco; a brother, David Vorster of Subiaco; two sisters, Debra Vorster of Subiaco and Joan Stone and husband, Howard, of Nashville, Tenn.; and numerous other family and friends.
Rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco. The body will be cremated under the direction of Roller Funeral Home-Paris.
Pallbearers:
Active — Larry Holman, Darrel Wheeler, Gary Eveld, Justin Robertson, Sam Forst and John Willems.
Honorary — Bill and Martha Hegeman, Carol Trusty, Legislative Audit, Catholic Knights and Larry Ewing.

Linda Day
Linda Jean Latham Day, 59, of Elberon, Va., passed away at home, with her family at her side, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in Pope County, Linda was the daughter of the late Grady L. Latham. Her mother, Marene Isbell Latham of Russellville, survives her.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and daughter.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of nine years, David L. Day; her son, Chad Duvall of Russellville; her daughter, Connie Williams and her husband, Jeff, of Morganton, N.C.; three granddaughters, Beth, Katie and Cassidy; and her brother, Carroll Latham also of Russellville.
Linda was a Dosimetry Technician for Bartlett Nuclear for many years. In her career she had the opportunity to travel the U.S. making friends all along the way. Linda was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and St. Joe Free Will Baptist Church in Atkins.
A service celebrating Linda’s life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at St. Joe Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor J.C. Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joe cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
There is no visitation planned.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, Cancer Research, 5349 Princess Anne Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502.

Irene Greathouse
Irene Greathouse, 89, of Wagoner, Okla., died Monday, July 27, 2009, at Wagoner Care Center in Wagoner, Okla.
She was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Monette, Ark., daughter of the late Iva and May (Thorn) Woodard.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Lynch of Dardanelle; grandchildren, Wendell and Frankie Lynch of Dardanelle, Angie and Barry Sims of Dardanelle, David and Penny Lynch of Prescott, Tina and Tim Davis of Morrilton, Shawn and Michelle Lynch of Belleville, and Lacy Lynch of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Wendy White, Zachary Lynch, Matthew Lynch, Skyler Lynch, Kirstie Williams, Kody Graf, Dustin Lynch and Ty Lynch.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, in Wagoner, Okla., under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home.

Velda McDowell
DANVILLE — Velda Louise McDowell, 69, of Oppelo departed from this life Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock.
She was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Havana, Ark., to Ray and Juanita White Spivey. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, a friend to all and a member of Downtown Church of Christ at Morrilton. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sammie Spivey; and a niece, Lisa Brown.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, James “J.W.” McDowell; son and wife, Jimmy and Beth McDowell of Tequesta, Fla.; daughter, Janet Marie Earls of Sheridan; grandchildren, Brooke, Brittany, Brye, Brenna and Beau Jameson McDowell; brothers and sister-in-law, Charles and Sue Spivey of Oppelo, Barry Spivey of Mt. Ida and Rickey Spivey of Havana; sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Charles Howell of Hot Springs Village; sister-in-law, Janet Spivey of Pea Ridge; many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Pallbearers include Jerry Smith, Terry Hitchcock, Eston Yandell, Don Burrows, Gene Morgan, Charles Greenlee, Rod Leslie and David Washburn.
Throughout her life, Velda was known for her keen sense of humor and her ability to make people laugh. Everyone who knew her well had a “Velda story.” She took delight in serving others, whether it was with her wonderful cooking, visiting the sick, cleaning houses or consoling people in need. She loved her family, friends and her beloved pets — especially her cats.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Western Yell County Church of Christ in Havana with John McCourt and Randy Rankin officiating. Burial will be in Havana cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight.
Memorials may be made to Southern Christian Home, P.O. Box 649, Morrilton, AR 72110.

Mary Nell Rice
Mary Nell Redding Rice, 95, of Morrilton died Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
She was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Paris, Ark., a daughter of the late Joseph N. and Emma L. Freeman Redding.
Survivors are sons, Carl D. Rice of Morrilton, Tommy Rice of Russellville, and Gary Rice of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Jean Epperson of Morrilton and Dee Netherton of Morrilton; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Bob Neal & Sons Chapel at Morrilton with John Martin officiating. Burial will be at Plumerville cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight.
