Daisy Briscoe
Daisy Virginia Duer Briscoe, 93, of Russellville, Ark., died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
The daughter of Alva Wayne “A.W.” and Rebekah Durkee Duer, she was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Sylvia, Kan. Before retirement, she was secretary of the History and Political Science Department at Arkansas Tech University. She was a member of the 5th and Greenwich Church of Christ. She served several years as treasurer of the local AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. “Bill” Briscoe; her parents; three brothers, Jonathan Harvey Duer, Marion Colten Duer and Victor LeRoy Duer; and one sister, Ruth Lorene Rothrock.
She is survived by two sons, William Martin Briscoe and wife, Patricia Murray Briscoe, of Russellville and Michael Duer Briscoe and wife, Cathy Sims Briscoe, of Russellville; four grandsons, William Murray Briscoe of Alexandria, Va., Charles Martin Briscoe of Greenbrier, Ark., James Robert Briscoe of Monterey, Calif., and Tyler Sims Briscoe of Russellville; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Haley, Garrett, Samuel and Avery Briscoe; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Oakland cemetery in Russellville with Richard Kirkland officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at Humphrey Funeral Service, 2801 W. Main St., Russellville.
Active pallbearers are Marty Briscoe, Michael Briscoe, Billy Briscoe, Charles Briscoe, James Briscoe and Tyler Briscoe.
Honorary pallbearers are retired instructors and staff of ATU History/Political Science Department.

Jewelean Seagraves
Jewelean Seagraves, 81, of Russellville died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center at Clarksville.
She was born Dec. 7, 1927, at Chickalah to Lonnie and Edith Utley Adkison. She was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church in Dardanelle and a current member of Fair Park Baptist Church in Russellville. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Seagraves; a brother, Everett Adkison; and sisters, Margarette Holman and Marie Norris.
Survivors include her daughter, Gladys Brown of Russellville; two brothers, Loyd Adkison of Dardanelle and Bobby Gene Adkison of Russellville; grandson, Jason L. Brown of Benton; granddaughter, Laura Treadwell of Russellville; stepgrandson, Bobby J. Brown of Atkins; three great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, William Norris of Dardanelle.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at New Hope cemetery in Dardanelle with Rick Balentine officiating. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.

Johnnie Shelton
Johnnie Murl Shelton, 66, of Russellville, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 14, 2009, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a long battle with diabetes.
A daughter of the late Pete and Johnnie Duvall McCurrie, she was born Nov. 7, 1942, at home in what was called the old Staffard house in Gumlog. She lived her entire life not a mile from where she was born. On Jan. 15, 1962, she married Allen (Spider) Shelton.
She worked for the Hudson Brothers egg farm and loved to camp with family and spend time with family and friends. She was a Christian and a member of Pine Hill Community Church where she enjoyed attending until she was no longer able. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a sister, Vida Pearl McCurrie Davis.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Tracy Shelton and Petey and Shelia Shelton, all of Russellville; a grandson, Russell Shelton of Russellville; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Destiny Shelton, both of Russellville; a step-granddaughter, Kimberly Langrell of Russellville; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Brenda McCurrie of Russellville; two nephews: Matt McCurrie and his wife, Clarrissa, of Russellville; and Carmon McCurrie of Atlanta, Ga.; two nieces, Joyce Laub and her husband, John, and Eugenia McCurrie, all of Atkins; three great-nephews, three great-nieces and many more family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Happy Valley Assembly of God, officiated by the Rev. Hank Duvall. Burial will be at Shady Grave cemetery near Atkins by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers are Gene McCurrie, Matt McCurrie, Junior Simmons, Clifford Duvall, Junior Taylor and John Laub.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Nathan Romine
Nathan P. Romine, 82, of Moreland died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at North Logan County Mercy Hospital.
He was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Pottsville, the son of James Harding and Lillie Edwards Romine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Romine; sister, Charlotte Woodard; and daughter, Edna Louise Romine.
Nathan was a retired labor superintendent in northern California. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Walker of Dover; son, James Romine of Russellville; brother, Bobby Romine of Russellville; sister, Louise Rone of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Sherry Tucker of Dover, Donna Earnest of Hector, Josh Romine of Russellville and Jacob Romine of Memphis; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Nora Earnest officiating. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lemley Funeral Service.
Members of the Rogers-Rye V.F.W. Post 2283 Honor Squad will serve as pallbearers.

Renee Davis
C. Renee Davis, 53, of Russellville died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at her home.
Daughter of the late Tommy Lee and Marjorie Eleanor Boyle Hicks, she was born Nov. 18, 1955, in Manitou Springs, Co. She was a former office manager, taught computer graphics and was owner of a computer site, the Yakker Friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Jack Davis, and a daughter, Amanda Jeanette Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Davis; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Cassy Davis of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Renee and Russell Reedy of Dardanelle; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Peggy Hicks of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Leona Mae and Ricky Plunkett of Tupelo, Miss.; and three grandchildren: Logan William Davis, Ariel Nicole Deckert and Maxwell “Auggie” Prince.
Service arrangements are private.

Mike Simpson
Mike Simpson, 59, of Casa died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at River Valley Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1950, at Beaumont, Ky., to Charles and Dolly Shives Simpson. He was a poultry farmer for Wayne Farms. He attended the Hickory Grove First Baptist Church and had his Pastors Certificate to preach nondenominational churches. He was a devoted Christian, a hard-working farmer, a gifted musician, a horseman, a beloved daddy, a treasured papa and a devoted husband and partner. Mike was always there to help his fellow man with a quick smile and an uplifting word. He treasured his family and thought his grandchildren hung the moon and stars. He was John Wayne in our eyes and left us way too soon. The world lost a great man, but heaven gained a perfect angel. Wait on us at the feet of Jesus. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Simpson, and a brother, Fred Simpson.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Minnie Simpson, of Casa; children and spouses, Janice and Hoss Yates of Rover, Jennifer and Jeff Little of Dardanelle, David and Trisha Simpson of Edmonton, Ky.; mother, Dolly Simpson of Florence, Ky.; sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Gary Gipson of Louisville; grandchildren, Drew Brent, Zachary Brent, Lucas Coffman, Kassidy Coffman, Cole Yates, Katie Yates, Samantha Little, Mirinda Little, Haley Simpson, Erica Simpson, Scotty Woosley and wife Jenny, Amanda Woosley; great-grandchildren, Kloie Yates, Katlen Walker, Anna Bell Walker, Emma Woosley; aunt and uncle, Joyce and Atwell Shives of Kentucky.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 17, 2009, at Hickory Grove First Freewill Baptist Church in Casa.
Cremation arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle.

Betty Elaine Mikles Singleton
(August 16, 1955 - February 15, 2013)
Betty Elaine Mikles Singleton, 57, of Buckley, Washington formerly of Booneville, Arkansas, passed away February 15, 2013 in Buckley Washington. She was born on August 16, 1955 in Frankfurt, Germany to Lowell and Ola Rea (Wingfiled) Mikles.
She is preceded in death by her father Lowell Mikles.
She is survived by her husband Milton Singleton and her daughter, Anna Singleton of Buckley, Washington and her son of J.P. Kopecky of Salt lake City, Utah. Other survivors include here mother, Ola Rea Mikles of Booneville, Arkansas; two sisters, Anna Taylor of Harmony, Arkansas and Barbara Brock of Fort Worth, Texas and a brother Lester Mikles of Memphis, Tennessee.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 25, 2013 at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville, Arkansas, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home. (There will be no graveside service)

Rheba L. Taylor
Rheba L. Taylor, 93, of Russellville, formerly of North Little Rock, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The daughter of Oliver and Nettie Gotcher Hollowell, she was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Cleveland, Ark. She was a graduate of Erskine College and the University of Arkansas, where she received her master’s degree. She was a life member of the Parent Teachers and Retired Teachers associations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Taylor; a brother, Othell Hollowell; and a sister, Velma Hollowell.
Survivors include two sisters, Esther Dennis and husband Bill of Pensacola, Fla., and May Wood of Birmingham, Ala.; two nieces; six nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pisgah cemetery. Kent Dollar will officiate with burial to follow by Humphrey Funeral Service.

Cheryl Virginia Grimes
(February 16, 1947 - February 19, 2013)
Cheryl Virginia Myers-Grimes, 66, of Greenwood, Arkansas, was promoted to an angel on February 19th 2013. She was born February 16th, 1947 in Houston, Texas to the late Marion (Suggs) Morse.
She was a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston, Texas and would later co-found several commercial businesses in Houston and Greenwood, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband Charles A. Grimes of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Grimes - Sullinger and her two sons Shane and Cade Sullinger; three sons, Haeath Grimes and his two daughters, Esther and Penelope Grimes, Wesley Myers and his daughter, Kelsey Myers, and two sons, Tanner and Ryan Myers, and Neal Myers and his daughter, Hannah Myers and son Ethan Myers.
Friends and relatives will celebrate her life, memories and passing, at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Greenwood, Arkansas with pastor Ronnie Deal officiating.

Lillie Tallent
Lillie Tallent, 81, of Russellville died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Ripley County, Mo., to John Dan and Nora Elmina Campbell Purdom. She was a member of Woodlawn Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and listening to books on tape. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman Ray Tallent; three brothers, Nathan Eli, Glenn Calvin and John Carl Purdom; and a sister, Pansy Elmina Kennedy Pond.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Keith Allen and Alice Tallent of Dodge City, Kan., Kent and Kay Tallent of Dardanelle, and Mark Steven Tallent of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a daughter, Charolette Ann Tallent of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tommy Purdom of Sikeston, Mo., and Raymond and Gloria Purdom of Licking, Mo.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alberta and Albert Emmenagger and Darline and Harry Long, all of St. Louis, Mo., and Joan Marie and Ellis Rhoades of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the Shinn Chapel. Mrs. Tallent’s children will officiate, and her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Lemay, Mo. Visitation was Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Free Will Baptist International Missions, 5233 Mount View Road, Antioch, TN 37013.

Boux Tristin Anderson, was born September 15, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas to Jimmie Anderson Jr. and Sandra “Dolly” (Mullins) Anderson. He received His wings August 8, 2013.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Jimmie Anderson Sr.; and his maternal grandmother, Sandra Mullins.
He is survived by his parents, Jimmie Jr. and Sandra “Dolly” Anderson of the home in Booneville; paternal grandmother, LouLine Nelson of Royce, Texas; maternal grandfather, Guy Mullins of Magazine; aunts and uncles; Robert and Shirley Anderson of Weatherford, Texas, Willie Bill Anderson of Bryan, Texas, Melanie and Charles Locke of Rockwall, Texas, Kelly and Karry Dickens of Wheeling, West Virginia, Juanita and Jeff Randall of Aluwee, Oklahoma, Tracy Lynn Mullins of Magazine, and Tava and Tracy Smith of Magazine; cousins, Ashley, Ila, Laura, Amber, Clayton, Samantha, Amanda, William, Leslie, Karry Jr., Kaston, Nathaniel, Emily, Ethan, Alyge, Layla, Levi, Maddison, and Hannah.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 A.M. til 12:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 P.M., Saturday, August 10, 2013, Diamondback Arena in Magazine, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
The honorary Pallbearers will be Kaston, Nathaniel, William, Levi, Clayton, Karry Jr., and Brant.
