Janet Leonard
Janet Leonard, 42, of Iowa City, Iowa died Jan. 5 at her home from a sudden illness.
She is survived by her parents, Benny and Mary Leonard of Bella Vista, Ark., sister Pat Leonard of Reston, Va.; two brothers and their wives, Tom and Kathie Leonard of Cape Coral, Fla. and Matt and Kris Leonard of Iowa City. Janet's twin sister, Julie, died May 9, 2002.
A celebration of Janet's life was held on Jan. 11 at Gay & Ciha Funderal and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Bella Vista Library.

Elaine Fasnacht Miles
Elaine Fasnacht Miles, 66, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 7, 2005, in Bentonville, Ark.
She was an elementary school teacher in Pomona, Calif., and Overland Park, Kan. Her shared passion for baseball with her husband, Jerry Miles, led her to be an administrative assistant for the two national baseball coaches associations. USA Baseball named her National Amateur Baseball Woman of the Year in 2000.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Jerry Miles; a son, Craig Miles of California; and a sister, Glenda Jimmink of California.
To honor Elaine's wishes, there will be no memorial service. Friends and relatives are asked to have a moment of silence to recognize her life.
Because of her love of nature and animals, a gift may be made to your local animal rescue organization in lieu of flowers.
Cremation arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Elmer Charles Robey
Elmer Charles Robey, 68, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 9, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale, Ark. He was born Dec. 4, 1936, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Elmer Q. Robey and Viola Cavanaugh Robey.
He was raised and educated in Dubuque. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958. He married Mary A. Konzen on May 18, 1957, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa. The couple lived in Dubuque and later in Warren, Ill. He was active in the Warren Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years. He helped form the Warren Ambulance Corp. and was one of its first trained EMTs. He served as post commander of the American Legion Post and president of the Warren Lions Club, and was active in the Warren Chamber of Commerce.
The couple moved to Belmont, Wis., where they lived until retiring to Bella Vista in 1995. He was a member of the Bella Vista Crime Watch and the Bella Vista American Legion, and was a Courtesy Van driver. He was also an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, bowler and card player.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Robey; and a nephew, Jim Robey.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Robey; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Robey and Colleen Robey of Plainfield, Ill.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Roxanne James and Randy James of Euless, Texas, Rosanne Donegan and Jim Donegan of Mount Morris, Ill., Joanne Poteet of Bella Vista, and Deanne Ebel and Mike Ebel of Kernersville, N.C.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Clarence Robey and Marilyn Robey of East Dubuque, Ill., Carl Robey and Del Robey, both of Dubuque, Iowa, and Don Robey and Karen Robey of Utica, Ill.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, La Vonne Mueller and Neilia Ball, both of Dubuque, and Lou Ann Richardson and Jim Richardson of Hazel Green, Wis.; and 11 grandchildren.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Jan. 15 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista with Father Andrew Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans Wall of Honor, in care of the Veterans Council of Northwest Arkansas, P.O. Box 3085, Bella Vista, Ark. 72715.

Elmer Winner
Elmer Winner of Bella Vista died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005. Arrangements are pending with Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Bentonville.

John L. Boles
John L. Boles Sr., 67, of Bella Vista, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale.
Arrangements are pending with the Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.

Janie C. Chapman
Janie C. Chapman, 85, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Innisfree Nursing Center in Rogers. She was born April 7, 1917, in Great Falls, Mont., to W.C. and Maude E. Miller Germain.
She married Douglas Chapman in 1939. Together they owned and operated movie theaters in Rushville, Neb.; Lemmon, S.D.; and Mobridge, S.D.
After selling the theaters, she moved to Bella Vista in 1977.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Chapman, in 1959; and one sister, Pauline Graybeal.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ben Fowler of Bentonville; a son, James Chapman of Henderson, Nev.; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Gloria Chapman of Bella Vista; three sisters, Helen Germain and Jeanne Germain, both of French Camp, Calif., and Melda Telford of Roseville, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Chapman of Bella Vista; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Bella Vista cemetery with the Rev. Mike Sinkler officiating. There was no public visitation.
Funeral arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3405 Bella Vista Way, Bella Vista, Ark. (72714).

Winnie Crabtree Brown
She attended Summit School, located between Bella Vista and Pea Ridge. She lived in California for 10 years before moving to El Dorado Springs, Mo., where she was owner and operator of The Yardage Shop from 1951 to 1971.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pea Ridge United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin "Doc" Brown, in 1986; two brothers, Frank Crabtree and Charlie Crabtree; three sisters, Mina Price, Pearl Givens and Mae Mitchell; and a son-in-law, Paul Vaughn.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Jean Vaughn of Fayetteville; three grandsons, David Vaughn and Craig Vaughn, both of Fayetteville, and Eric Vaughn of Goshen; a granddaughter, Avis Ruge of Fayetteville; a sister, Hazel Dryden of Pea Ridge; six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 12, at Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the Sisco Funeral Home chapel with Butch Bolinger officiating. Burial was at Pea Ridge cemetery.

Edna Paulina Cleve
Edna Paulina Cleve, 85, of Bella Vista, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. She was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Richmond, S.D., to August and Anna Hetrick Semisch.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista and Bentonville Chapter 195 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cleve, on March 5, 1986.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory in Bella Vista, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista with the Rev. Richard Jebsen officiating. Burial was at Bella Vista cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

R.W. 'Bill' Davis
R.W. "Bill" Davis, 81, of El Dorado, Kan., and formerly of Bella Vista, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado. He was born April 21, 1921, in Zeandale, Kan., to Howard I. and Frances Ayers Davis.
He graduated from Kansas State University at Manhattan and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a supervisor for out-of-state claims for Farm Bureau Insurance.
He lived in Manhattan, Kan., for 60 years before moving to Bella Vista. He had lived in El Dorado for the past two years.
He was a member of Bella Vista Community Church and the Elks Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Davis, on Dec. 25, 1998. The couple was married Sept. 7, 1946, in Haddenfield, N.J.
He was also preceded in death by a son and an infant brother.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and James Root of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Helen Taylor of Topeka, Kan.; and two grandchildren, William Root and Holly Root, both of Wichita.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Wichita.

Betty Louise Duermyer
Betty Louise Duermyer, 74, of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at her home. She was born Dec. 12, 1927, in Shelby, Neb., to James Wesley and Lena Preston Dobbs.
She moved to Bella Vista 14 years ago from Omaha, Neb., where she sold real estate. In Omaha, she and her husband were active over the years with square dancing, a gourmet club, couple's bridge and other activities.
In Bella Vista, she was a member of Calico Cut-ups Quilt Guild and the Busy Bee quilt group. She enjoyed nine-hole golf and bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Harry Duermyer Sr., on Jan. 6, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, William H. Duermyer Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Terry L. Duermyer of Omaha; a daughter, Gayle L. Wesley of Sacramento, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Dillon Duermyer, Alexis Duermyer and Elias Wesley.
At her request, no memorial service will be held. Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorials may be made to Bella Vista Public Library, 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista, Ark. (72714); or to St. Mary's Hospice, 1200 W. Walnut St., Rogers, Ark. (72756).

Shirley Mae Gardner
Shirley Mae Gardner, 63, of Bella Vista, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at her home. She was born March 24, 1939, in Aurora, Mo., to James Franklin and Jewell Garner Gardner.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of Bella Vista.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jewell Gardner; and a brother, Norman Gardner.
Survivors include four brothers, Ronald F. Gardner of Grove, Okla., Wilbur Gardner of Marionville, Kenneth Gardner of Springfield, Mo., and Gary Gardner of Aurora, Mo.; and two sisters, Sharon Adams of Kansas City, Mo., and Doris Mitchell of Springfield.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Marionville (Mo.) IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, 1200 W. Walnut St., Rogers, Ark. (72756).
