GEORGE R. ANDERSON
After a long battle with Alzheimer's, George R. Anderson, 85, one of the hardest working men in Arkansas, passed away the morning of Jan. 4, 2006.
He was born Sept. 6, 1920. Even though the last few years were a struggle, he continued to get up every morning and dress in his service station uniform complete with red bandanna and work at his desk. For over 50 years, he owned service stations and car washes throughout Little Rock. His interests included playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, and fishing. He was also known for his dry sense of humor and practical jokes.
He is survived by his wife Jerry Anderson of Maumelle, three daughters Donna Morrow and her husband Tom of Bauxite, Charlotte Garlington and her husband Roy of Cabot, and Janice Morley of Maumelle; his grandchildren Brandie Greer of Hollywood, Fla., Melissa Brown of Sheridan, Phillip Greer of Paragould, Kristen and Kaitlin Morley, both of Maumelle; and his great-grandchildren Dawson and Payne Greer of Paragould, and Brockton and Elisabeth Brown of Sheridan.
Graveside services were Friday, Jan. 6, at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth.

NORMAN HAWKINS
Norman Randle Hawkins, 74, of Bauxite passed away Jan. 2, 2006.
He was born Nov. 29, 1931 in Tulip to the late Raleigh L. and Maurine Elizabeth Calaway Hawkins.
He was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church and served in the Korean War as a United States Marine. He worked 35 years for Reynolds Metal Company in the Instrument Department.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Hawkins of Bauxite, sons Rodney Hawkins and wife Reba of Maumelle, Britt Hawkins and wife Lisa of Conway, Stewart Hawkins and wife Cheryl of Bauxite, Steve Hawkins and wife Karen of Benton, and Patrick Hawkins and Carla of Benton; daughters Kelley Thweatt and husband Rick of Benton and Roxanne Hawkins of Fort Smith; brother Lafayette Hawkins of Benton; and sisters Ann Gardner of Benton and Betty McCollum of Austin, Texas; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Chapel Services by Ashby Funeral Home were Thursday, Jan. 5, with Rev. Cornelia Delee officiating. Burial at New Rosemont.

DILLON ECKHOFF
Dillon Andrew Eckhoff, 15, of Haskell died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005.
He was born Nov. 29, 1990 in Little Rock. He was a ninth grade student at Harmony Grove and a Baptist.
Survivors include his parents Tad and Karen Eckhoff of Haskell, sister Michelle Eckhoff of Haskell, grandparents Jim and Myrna Eckhoff of Springfield, Mo., and Bill and Helen Watts of Benton.
Services were Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Holland Chapel Baptist Church with burial at Mt. Harmony cemetery, Bro. Kim Hammer officiating.

RAY D. HALSTEAD
Ray DeForest Halstead, 85, of the Sardis Community, a retired truck driver for ABF, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005.
He was born Aug. 4, 1920 in Vinton, Iowa. He was a Jehovah's Witness. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Charlotte McNeice Stadler of Malvern.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years Jewel D. Roberts Halstead; his daughters Bonnie Halstead of Alexander, Rheadene and her husband Charles McNeice of Sardis; three grandchildren Chuck McNeice of Little Rock, Chris McNeice and his wife Tamara of Sardis, and Melanie McNeice Gentry and her husband Shawn of Benton; a grandson by marriage David Stadler of Malvern; and great-grandchildren Ryan, Alex and Victoria Stadler of Malvern, Caitlin McNeice of Little Rock, Tyler Heifner and Christian McNeice of Sardis, Jordan and Abby Gentry of Benton.
Services were private. Cremation arrangements by Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Southwest.

Michael Steven Autry
August 3, 1953 - April 13, 2012
Michael Steven Autry, age 58 of Jacksonville passed away Friday, April 13, 2012. He was born August 3, 1953 in Little Rock to Charles Woodrow Autry and Mary Eva Autry. He was a United States Air Force Disabled Veteran. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Pat Autry and one granddaughter Anabel Fox. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife Lavada Ann Autry, his mother Mary Eva Autry, children; Michelle Fox and her husband Michael, Darby Morris and her husband James, Jason Sparks and his wife Trina, Stephanie Copeland and her husband Allen, and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock.

MARGE I. MORRIS
Margie Inez Morris, 90, of Alexander, a homemaker, passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005.
She was born on July 14, 1915 in Senath, Mo. She was a member of Hilldale Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Carrie Crosland and a son Shirley Wayne Morris.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years David Wister Morris of Alexander; three sons Wister A. Morris and William (Bill) Morris of Alexander and Gene A. Morris of Lancaster, Texas; daughter Dorothy A. Rooks of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was Monday, Oct. 17, at Hilldale Baptist Church with Bro. Hank Harrington officiating. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ashby Funeral Home.

JERRY F. PAUL
Jerry Franklin "Buddy" Paul, 64, of Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005.
He was born July 9, 1941 in Humphrey to the late Jasper and Gracie Mae Paul.
Surviving are his son Jerry Dale Paul of Bryant; brothers Jasper Paul, Jr., and Charles Paul; and sisters Susie May and Floy Holmes.
A gathering was held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Southwest. Cremation arrangements by Roller-Drummond Funeral Home.

James Carnell Walker
September 13, 1923 - April 9, 2012
James Walker was born September 13, 1923 at Murray, Kentucky to Jess and Lina Walker. At the age of six the family migrated to Missouri. Between the ages of six and twelve Mr. Walker worked in the cotton fields. When he was 12 he worked 12-14 hours each day for 37 ˝ cents each day if he was over 12 he would earn 75 cents for his day’s labor. He continued working on the farms until he was 20, then he joined the United States Marine Corps. While he was on medical leave he married his one true love Carma Francine Shownes on July 7, 1945. He continued his Marine Corps career until his retirement on October 1, 1970. He served in the Marines during World War II and Vietnam, where he received numerous awards, including a Silver Star, Bronze Star with a Combat Star, three Purple Hearts, for wounds received during the invasion of Tarawa, Siapan, Tinian, and Okinawa. His last tour was in Vietnam.
After retiring from the Marines, Mr. Walker moved to Jacksonville in October of 1971. After enrolling in the Real Estate School, he obtained his Real Estate Broker License, he and his wife Carma along with his son, Robert, started Modern Realty Company. After four years of selling real estate Mr. Walker branched out into building homes in the Jacksonville-Cabot area.
He retired from business in 1993, and he and his wife bought a van, and for the next eight years they traveled throughout the United States, covering 42 states and Canada. Because of various health problems his activities were curtailed. He spent the rest of his life working in his garden and visiting friends. On April 9, 2012 Mr. Walker retired for the last time, this time from life. He was 88 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Carma Walker, and two sons, Jim Walker and his wife Debra, and Robert Walker and his wife Sherrie, two grandsons Andrew Walker and his wife Megan, Blake Walker, one granddaughter Kerry Dunn, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Shownes officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

LUCY P. SHELTON
Lucy P. Shelton, 76, of Benton, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 in Little Rock.
She was born in Webster County, Ga. She was a Pentecostal. She was preceded in death by her husband Coy Leon Shelton; her parents Martin and Lula McCall; and two brothers Clarence McCall and J.C. McCall.
Surviving are three sons Ronnie Wayne Adams of Alabama, Charles Shelton of Conway, and Robert Eugene Shelton of Little Rock; her daughters Alice Shelton of Alexander and Mildred Augustine of Riverfalls, Wis.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a special friend Johnny Hill of Benton.
Funeral was Friday, Oct. 14, at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel, with Michael Burden officiating. Burial was at New Rosemont cemetery.

GLAYDS D. MOORE
Gladys D. Moore, 100, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005.
Surviving are daughters Arabelle and husband Richard Wade of Benton and Joy Bartley of Edmond, Okla.; one sister OreMae Gotcher of Clarksville; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Saturday, Oct. 15, at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Harmony. Burial was at Great Bend, Kan.
