As an early contributor to the organic and bulk food cooperative movement in northwest Arkansas, she learned to drive eighteen-wheelers and, in 1982, co-founded Southern Cooperative Express, a trucking company for which she drove for three years, bringing fresh produce and health foods to this area and to other food co-ops in the south. Cheryl was a drummer and loved bluegrass music. Her love of horses, all animals and children engaged her in many community activities.
