Gloria Ann Lux King, 82 of Fayetteville died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at her home. She was born August 11, 1927 in Newark, New Jersey the daughter of Leonard Lux and Mary McTigue Lux.
She married Albert King on July 10, 1946 in Newark, N.J. by St. Columbus Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Margaret Theresa York who raised her and was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Albert 'Gene' King of the home; 3 sons, Craig Eugene King of Portland, OR, Travis Dennis Glynn King of Fayetteville, Barry Williams King of Berryville, AR; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1:00PM, Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Beard's Chapel with Reverend Perry Hall officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville National cemetery at 2:00PM, Wednesday under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
No visitation is scheduled.
Family requests that memorials be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

On August 22, 2010, Jean DePriest Mahan of Fayetteville, Arkansas went to be with Her Lord and Savior. She was 83 years old. She was born on July 24, 1927 in Norman, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur DePriest, mother, Loda Mae Brunt, and stepfather, Henry Max Brunt.
She was a loving wife; mother, grandmother, and she loved the Lord. She was a retired telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. and the University of Arkansas. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church of Fayetteville.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Delbert M. Mahan of Fayetteville; son, Jimmie A. Moore and wife, Cheryl of Wichita Falls, Texas, daughter, Linda Kay Pena of Fayetteville; son, Marshall E. Mahan and wife, Carin of Farmington; sister, Shirley Hall and husband, Richard of Troutdale, Oregon; 2 granddaughters, Michelle Beard and Angie Guffey of Wichita Falls, Texas; 2 grandsons, Aaron Mahan and wife, Chasity and Matthew Mahan and wife, Mindy of Farmington and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Beard's Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove cemetery at Crosses, AR under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 7PM at Beard's Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2300 S.E. 28th Street, Suite 311, Bentonville, AR 72712.

Leon Martin 83, of Fayetteville, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was a Deacon at Sang Avenue Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife Bobbie Martin of the home, one daughter Shari Rickard of Fayetteville and one granddaughter Courtney Parks of Little Rock, Arkansas. Also one sister Greta Harbour of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and one brother Deion Martin of Greenland, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 5 to 7 PM at Beard’s Chapel.

Burial and graveside services will be in Eastlawn cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas at 4:00 PM on Friday, July 30, 2010.

Daisy Forrester Mayes

INTERMENT: Stuckey cemetery
Daisy Forrester Mayes, 93, of Johnson, went to be with her Lord Monday May 31, 2010 in Fayetteville. She was born February 21, 1917 in Madison County the daughter of William Denver and Bertha Ellen Phillips Forrester. She was retired from Forest Park/Allen Canning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe McKee Mayes, daughter, Connie Lou Byrd, infant son and sister, Cora Terry.
She is survived by son-in-law, Harold J. Byrd of Fayetteville; 3-grandsons, Terry D. Byrd and wife, Linda of Springdale, Timothy S. Byrd and wife, Cathy of Farmington and Tony C. Byrd and wife, Debra of Fayetteville; her special sister-in-law, Curmania Mayes of Johnson; many nieces and nephews; 10 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday June 3, 2010 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Burial will be in Stuckey cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 2, 2010 from 5-7 at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at North Hills Life Care and Rehab who was her adopted family.

Michael James "Mike" Middleton

Michael James (Mike) Middleton, 60, formerly of Memphis, TN, died on July 16, 2010, at Washington Regional Medical Center from complications related to diabetes. He was born on July 4, 1950, in Osceola, AR, the son of William Russell Middleton and Maxine Higgins Middleton Bryant, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William. R. (Rip) Middleton, Jr.
Mr. Middleton is survived by one daughter, Margaret O. (Maggie) Middleton of Jackson, MS and one sister, Cynthia R. (Cindy) Middleton of North Little Rock, AR.
He attended college at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and remained an avid Razorback fan throughout his life.
Cremation arrangements are by Beard’s Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville, AR. Memorials may be made to the Osceola Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 443, Osceola, AR 72370.

Raymond Dwain Mitchell

Raymond Dwain Mitchell, 78, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in Fayetteville,
Arkansas.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Daphina Mitchell; his son, Dwain Mitchell and wife Deanna Mitchell; his son, Dwight Mitchell and wife Brandy Mitchell; and one grandson, Jonathan Mitchell, all of Fayetteville.
Raymond was a charter member and deacon at Ridgeview Baptist Church and a life long participant and promoter of Southern Gospel Music in the region. He was a member of numerous quartets including The Ridgeviews, The Hartfords and others.
After graduating from Huntsville High School, he attended the University of Arkansas, earning a bachelor’s degree in Education. His working life after school was full of adventure, including being stationed in Alaska during the Korean conflict with the United States Air Force, teaching at Elkins High School, serving as a Washington County Deputy Sheriff, working for many years for Frontier Airlines, and finally retiring from a long career in oil and gas marketing in Northwest Arkansas that started with Mitchell Oil Company.
Raymond had a love for family and friends, always ready for his chance to entertain with stories and singing, and when away from those he loved he had a passion for his flowerbeds, spending hours working in his short retirement years in his gardens.
Visitation with his family will be held on Friday, August 6 from 5 to 7 at Beard’s Chapel, followed by a funeral at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7 at Ridgeview Baptist Church and interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Marie Foster Parnell

Marie Foster Parnell 88, of Fayetteville, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Washington Regional Hospital. She was born May 6, 1922 in Elkins, Arkansas, the daughter of Milton and Laura Moore Foster. She was a homemaker, worked for the Fayetteville School System in food service, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Shirley Parnell, two brothers Earl and Walter Foster and one sister Ruby Collins.
She is survived by her son, Larry Parnell and his wife Linda of Farmington, three sisters: her identical twin sister Mary Gilley of Fayetteville, Thelma Heckman and Sammie Williams both of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also two grandchildren; Lance Parnell, wife Suzy and children Courtney, Kennedy and Landrey Parnell of Cassville, Mo and Lindsay Ramsey, husband Hal, son Drew Ramsey of Brandon, Mississippi, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friend Jane Maloney
Funeral services will be Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. Visitation will be Thursday July 1, 2010 from 5 to 7 PM. Burial will be in McCord cemetery. Dr. Gene Fulcher and Rev. Phil Misenheimer will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1410 Porter Road, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72703, in memory of Marie Parnell.

Ronald Gene Paulk, Sr.

Ronald Gene Paulk, Sr., 62 of West Fork died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born May 28, 1948 in Pocatello, Idaho the son of Delmer O’Gene Paulk and Elaine Kummer Paulk.
He served in the US Marine Corp for 12 years having served during the Vietnam Era. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald G. 'Chopper' Paulk, Jr. and infant daughter, Tina Louise and infant son, Donnie Dean Paulk.
Survivors include daughter, Shelly Tapia and her husband, Jesus Cauy of Green Forest, AR; 2 sister, Carolyn Cartwright and her husband, Raymond of Springdale, Connie Napier and her husband Donnie of West Fork, AR; mother, Elaine Paulk of West Fork, AR; 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Kayla, Riley Rogers, Nicasia Franco and Shelby Paulk; nieces and nephews, Dawn and Michael, Tinker and David, Tommy and Brandi and Terry.
Graveside service will be 10AM, Friday, August 6, 2010 at Friendship Church cemetery (West Fork) with Brother L.V. Vickery officiating under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4PM on Thursday at Beard's Chapel.
A special thanks goes to David Jones from the family.

Barbara J. Pearce, 59 of Fayetteville died Tuesday, August 17, 2010. She was born March 19, 1951 in Omaha, NE the daughter of Albert Wojtkiewicz and Ethel Burkey Wojtkiewicz.
She married Tom Pearce on August 29, 1970 in Omaha, NE and was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald Wojtkiewicz. She dearly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid golfer.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Tom Pearce of the home; 2 daughters, Renee King and her husband, Bobby of Elkins, Andrea Woody and her husband, Allen of Elkins; sister, Liz Leach of Omaha, NE; brother, Rick Wojtkiewicz and his wife, Joyce of Omaha, NE; and 4 dearly loved grandchildren, Zach King, Robbie Woody, Tyler King and Joey Woody.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10AM, Friday, August 20, 2010 at Beard's Chapel in Fayetteville, AR.
No visitation is scheduled.
