Carla Kay Henson
Carla Kay Henson 23, of El Dorado, formerly of Clinton, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003. She was born in Conway, AR, October 12, 1979, the daughter of Larry Henson and Darla Hess. She was employed as a produce assistant for Wal-Mart. She is survived by her father, Larry Henson of Choctaw; her mother, Darla Turner of Wagoner, OK; a sister Delina Gray of El Dorado; a brother Dakota Henson of Choctaw; grandfather, Herman Henson of Clinton; grandparents, Effie and William Hess of Amarillo, TX; a nephew, Taylor Gray and a host of other relatives and friends.
There was a Candle Light vigil held Friday, May 9 at 8 p.m. in El Dorado, AR.

Marge Lott Leverett
Marge Lott Leverett was born, October 18, 1924 in Carol County Mississippi. She was united in marriage in 1943 to Raymond Corder. Raymond was killed in World War II. But to this union one son was born, Jerry.
Margie later married Bubba Leverett, to this union was born one daughter, Susan. Bubba had one son of previous marriage, Jesse. Margie loved him as her own.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a wonderful southern lady.
Marge was preceded in death by Bubba and one grandson, John.
Survivors include Jerry of Germantown, TN; Jesse of Madison, MS and Susan of Clinton, AR; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held Thursday, May 8 at 10:30 in Faith Baptist Church with Tom Jolly and Roy Archer officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Martin, don Nunley, Ray Swearingen, Mark Kirkpatrick, Willie Ray and honorary pallbearers John Hodges and Eric Burke.

Kenneth Homer Cook
Kenneth Homer Cook, 62, of Higden departed this life on May 5, 2003. He was born September 8, 1940, in North Little Rock to Thomas Homer and Margaret Cook.
Mr. Cook graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1958. He was in the construction business as a homebuilder and renovator for many years. When not working he could be found on the golf course or spending time with his family whom he loved very much. He will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred Cook.
Survivors include daughters, Kimberly Sharpe and husband Charles of Fayetteville, Melissa Inman and husband Kerry of Dewitt; brother Tom Cook of Little Rock; sisters Marilyn Cook, Katy Radcliff and Becky Cook of Little Rock; sister-in-law, Patricia Cook of Higden; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Friday, May 9th, 2003 also at the funeral home with interment following at Edgewood Memorial Park cemetery, North Little Rock, AR.

Robert Steele Jones, Jr.
Robert Steele Jones, Jr., of Higden, Arkansas, a longtime resident of Cleburne County, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home. Born January 25, 1935, in Weatherford, Texas, Mr. Jones was 68 years of age. He was the son of the late Robert Steele Jones, Sr. and Sarah Alta Hamilton Jones.
Mr. Jones was a thirty-year veteran of the United States Army, serving twice in Vietnam. He retired in 1985 as a Lieutenant Colonel with a Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, 24 Air Medals, two Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry, Silver and Bronze. He was Airborne and Ranger qualified and was a Master Army aviator with top-secret clearance.
Mr. Jones was active in Greers Ferry community affairs and was a Past President of the Greers Ferry Chamber of Commerce, Greers Ferry Optimist Club, and Cleburne County Equalization Board. He was a former board member of Community Water System, and taught Red Cross beginner swimming and canoeing for many years. He spent most of his time operating and maintaining the family retreat, Sandiff, Inc. He was a life member of the VFW and The Military Officers Association of America, as well as a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. Mr. Jones was a member of Holiday Hills Methodist Church.
He is survived by: his wife, Catherine (Cay) Hamilton Jones of Higden, AR; one son, Frank S. Jones and his wife, Debbie, of Birmingham, Alabama; one daughter, Julia N. Reynolds and her husband, Glenn, of Lake Wales, Florida; two stepsons, C. Michael Joyce of Abita Springs, Louisiana; and Christopher H. Joyce and his wife, Lisa, of Bartlett, Tennessee; one sister, Sara Jo Morse of Rogers, Arkansas and four grandchildren.
Mr. Jones is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at Holiday Hills Methodist Church with Rev. Denzel Stokes officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Woodland Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Douglas Crabtree, Carl Hamilton, Ben Traylor, Edwin Johnson, Edwin Williams, Larry Moody, Kenneth Carpenter, and Jimmy Davis. Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Cunningham.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Sheriff's Youth Ranch, P. O. Box 3964, Batesville, AR 72503; Holiday Hills Methodist Church, Hwy. 16, Greers Ferry, AR 72067, and Greers Ferry Ambulance Fund, P. O. Box 1264, Greers Ferry, AR 72067.
Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., 601 W. Main, Heber Springs, AR 72543.

Jimmy Ray Mallett
Jimmy Ray Mallett, 57, of Greenbrier, died Tuesday (April 22, 2003) in Greenbrier.
He was born in Cleveland, Arkansas on June 15, 1945 to Alton and Vivian Harris Mallett. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Rolling Thunder Bike Club.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Ann Mallett of Greenbrier; a daughter, Janice Underwood of Searcy; sons, Jimmy Don Mallett of Fairfield Bay, James Alan Mallett of Searcy, and Jonathan Ray Mallett of Greenbrier; his parents, Alton and Vivian Mallett of Dover; sisters, Linda Harris of Missouri, Shirley Mallett of Dover, and Vicky Mallett of Scott; brothers, Jerry Wayne Mallett of North Little Rock, and Ricky Mallett of North Little Rock; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday (April 25, 2003) at Roller-McNutt Chapel, Conway with burial to follow in Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock.
Pallbearers were Marion Hurst, Lynn Johnson, Danny McGinty, James Tomassi, James Stanberry, and Marty Graham.

Mildred Sue Roberts Beaumont
Mildred Sue Roberts Beaumont, age 67 years young of Shirley, AR, left this earth to reside with our Heavenly Father on April 26, 2003. She was preceded by her parents, Clead A. and Ellen Bland Roberts and her husband Jim Slegers. Sue is survived by her children: Deborah (Ben) Russell of Shirley, Robert (Jill) Porto of Little Rock. Theresa Herbert of Texas and Samuel J. Porto of Idaho; six grandchildren, Lacie (Gary) Ring, Krisie (Roscoe) French, Heather and Megan Porto, Eric and Derek Hebert; one grandson, Bradley French; four sisters, Pat (Ray) Nease of South Carolina, Joyce Bowers of Little Rock, Libby (Carl) Williams of Benton and Nancy (Jim) Haag of Mayflower and a special friend, Bruce Wells.
Sue brightened this world with her sense of humor, an amazing artistic talent, a love of life and adventure; because of this she amassed a host of friends. Sue will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Services were held April 30, at 2 p.m. in Roller McNutt Chapel in Clinton.

Jesse William Cain
Jesse William Cain of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Monday, April 14, 2003, at the Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in Richmond, Indiana, on April 11, 1926, Mr. Cain was 77 years of age. He was the son of the late Jesse H. and Verl (Wheeler) Cain.
Mr. Cain was a former resident of Newport, Arkansas, where he owned and operated the Newport Bakery for fifteen years and veteran of World War II. Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Fairfield Bay, where they had been residents for twenty-five years. Mr. Cain loved fishing and worked as a fishing guide at Fairfield Bay, where he was known by his fishing buddies as "Jarhead." He retired from the United States Marines with twenty years of service and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Cain's religious belief was of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by: his wife: Virginia Fratellio Cain of Fairfield Bay, A; one son, Malcolm Cain of Albany, Georgia; one daughter, Priscilla Tennyson of Grubbs, AR; one brother, Larry Cain of Louisiana; one sister, Juanita Hughes of Searcy, AR; three grandchildren, Allen Tennyson and Anthony Tennyson, both of Grubbs, AR and Jessica Sykes of Jonesboro, AR; and two great grandchildren, Sam Tennyson and Emily Tennyson, both of Grubbs, AR. Mr. Cain is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
A memorial service for Mr. Cain was held Thursday, April 17 at Olmstead Woodland Chapel in Edgemont with Rev. Junior Ray Barham officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Buxton "Fishhawk," Charlie Hooks "Hillbilly," Terry Kane "Highway Man," Jack Burbridge "Happy Jack," Roger Cronk "Candy Man," Jerry Shaum "Spook," Richard Davis "Richard #1," Roger Faust "Tenderfoot," Jay Kidder "Jaybird," Randy Johns, Jim Stancil, Dick Bailey, Kenny Kruse, and Tommy Dunn. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., 601 W. Main, Heber Springs, AR 72543.

Robert C. Berrong
Robert C. Berrong, 80, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Zion, Illinois.
Robert was born May 27, 1922, and grew up in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, and lived in Zion, Illinois, until retiring from Johnson Motors at which time he made his home in Arkansas. He was a member of Holiday Hills Methodist Church in Greers Ferry. Survivors include: one daughter: Beth (Chris) Riesterer of Zion; grandchildren: Elisha and Luke Riesterer and brother: Earl (Betty) Berrong of Winthrop Harbor. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, sister Dorothy Cliff, and by his parents Polie and Rena Berrong.
A celebration of Mr. Bob's life was held Saturday, April 19, 2003 at his home in Greers Ferry.

Rosemary F. Traylor
Rosemary F. Traylor recently passed away. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the Little Red River Audubon Society.
She is survived by: husband, Robert Traylor; sons: David and John Traylor of Seattle, Washington; daughters: Cindi Traylor of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, Sue Revai, Racine, Wisconsin and Sandra Webb of Mt. Home, Arkansas and eight grandchildren.
Services were held at the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church and interment was at Woodland Memorial Park.

Robert Michael Williams
Robert Michael Williams 61, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed at his home April 7, 2003. He was born September 29, 1941 in Kansas, Missouri, the son of the late Robert and Dena Chastain Williams. He was a Golf Pro. Survived by his wife Patricia Seaton Williams of the home, his father-in-law Tommie and Wilma Seaton of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.

Christopher Todd York
Christopher Todd York 20, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away April 6, 2003. Born September 2, 1982 in Fort Ord, CA, the son of Tony York and Kimberlee Shawn Sexson, he was in the Construction business and attended Eglantine Church of Christ. He is survived by his mother Shawn and stepfather Paul Jacka of Fairfield Bay, AR, his father Tony York of Horn Lake, Mississippi, two brothers, Anthony York and Marty Sullivan both of Fairfield Bay, grandparents Jim and Doris Sexson of Fairfield Bay, AR, Virginia York of South Haven, MS, Glen and Bobbie York of MS, and Charles and Paulette Leach of Choctaw, AR.
Services were held Wednesday April 9, 2003 at 4 p.m. in Shirley School Auditorium with interment at Eglantine cemetery with Steve Sexson and Walter Clark officiating. The family asks in lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund is set up at Union Planters Banks of Clinton and Fairfield Bay for Chris York.
