Lloyd B. James
Lloyd B. James of Fairfield Bay, AR passed on Thursday morning, May 22.
Mr. James, formerly of Topeka and Kansas City, KS was born March 16, 1926 in Bogue, KS to Bert L. and Clara (Kling) James.
He had 3 sisters Mary Stifthem, deceased, Edna Clark and Helen Clark along with many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Anita (Mills) James.
The couple have 3 children, David of Kearney, MO, Rhonda Schulze pf Wichita, KS and Darrell also of Wichita.
There are 3 grandchildren
Mr. James grew up in western Kansas and served with the Army in the Pacific during WWII.
He made a career with Union Pacific Railroad, retiring as Traffic Agent in 1985.
He and his wife retired to Fairfield Bay and have lived there continuously since.
He was an avid golfer and square dancer with the Sugar Loafer Club and took great delight in giving "yellow rock" hugs.
He was a life member of VFW Post 4513 and the United Methodist Church.
The James's traveled extensively in the U.S. golfing together and always seemed to find people they knew wherever they went.
Another of what Tom Brokaw calls "the greatest generation" has passed on.
He made life better and will be truly missed.
Donations to the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church or favorite charity can be made in lieu of flowers.
The visitation was Saturday, May 24 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, AR with the Memorial Service Sunday, May 25 at the church in Fairfield Bay at 2 p.m.
Patricia Elaine Carman Vierregger
Patricia Elaine Carman Vierregger, 73 of Edgemont, devoted wife of Robert "Bob" Vierregger for 43 years and retired executive secretary, demised this life Tuesday, August 24, 2004 after a courageous struggle with complications of surgery performed April 2, 2004 for cancer.
Pat was a member of Holiday Hills United Methodist Church and had served on finance, building and pastor/parish relations committee.
She was a 53-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron, Lakeview chapter No. 609, Order of the Eastern Star in Edgemont and Past District Grand Lecturer, Order of the Eastern Star of Arkansas.
She was an active member of her sorority, XI Gamma Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Fairfield Bay and had served as its president.
Over the years, Pat was president of PTA/PTSO, Brownie den mother, Girl Scout leader and campaign fund raiser for cancer, heart and diabetes foundations.
At Brighton High School, she's been class vice president and valedictorian.
She was a 10 plus year member of Indian Rock Village Health Care Center Auxiliary, vice president of the Lake Park/Circle Acres Water Improvement District, member of the Red Hat Fillies Club and co-owner of The Real Estate Center, Inc.
Pat's hobbies were reading, ceramics, crafts, painting, caring for others and southern cooking.
She lived her life by Proverbs 3:5-6.
Preceded in death by her parents Floyd E. and Hilma L. Wheat Carman, Pat is survived by husband Bob, daughter, son-in-law and grandson Zachary, Ron and Stacy Tyra of Prague, OK and first cousin Jo Ella Womack of Metairie, LA.
Services with Rev. Denzel Stokes officiating, will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 27 at Holiday Hills United Methodist Church in Greers Ferry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holiday Hills United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 254, Greers Ferry, AR 72067 or the Greers Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 1264, Greers Ferry, AR 72067.

Mary Virginia Risi Luck
Mary Virginia Risi Luck, longtime resident of Fairfield Bay, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004.
She was born March 23, 1911 in Springfield, IL.
She was a member of Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, Ladies Rock Golf Club and Ladies Club in Fairfield Bay.
Mrs. Luck was preceded in death by her husband, Joel W. Luck, three sisters and one brother.
Memorial service, Tuesday, September 28 at 11:30 a.m., Woodland Memorial Park Chapel.
Mr. Denzel Stokes will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital or Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church.
Cloy M. Berry
Cloy M. Berry, 83, of Shirley, Arkansas passed away September 27, 2004 at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
He was born October 1, 1920 at Rushing, Arkansas the son of the late Richard Lex and Hattie E. Ross Berry, also preceded by a son Gary Lane Berry.
He was a veteran of World War Two in the U.S. Army, a retired truck driver and timber worker, of Baptist Faith.
Survived by a daughter Karen Denton of Oklahoma, a brother Kenneth Berry of Shirley, Arkansas and a sister Lois Compton of Houston, Texas, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services were September 30, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church with burial in Rushing cemetery, with Glen Williams officiating.

Mary Ann Gundersen
Mary Ann Gundersen, age 80, quietly entered into eternal peace, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, on Friday, Sept. 24, 2004.
The former Mary Ann Doring was born to Donald and Florence (Lahm) Doring in Park Ridge, Ill., on Oct. 7, 1923.
She was raised in White Fish Bay.
After attending Lawrence College she worked for the Wisconsin/ Illinois Railroad.
She married
Raymond Gundersen on Jan. 25, 1947.
They made their home in Monona, where they raised five children.
In 1983, they retired and moved to Fairfield Bay, Ark., where she did volunteer work at the local library.
Throughout her life Mary Ann enjoyed tennis, swimming, word games, books, ceramics, bird watching and chocolate.
Mary is survived by her five children, Marilyn (Jay) Jacoby of Madison, Carol (Steve) Bethel of DeForest, Don (Sue) of McFarland, Jim (Janine) of Madison, and David of Stoughton; her eight grandchildren, Nathan, Jared, Jeffry, Kayleigh, Nelia, Jason, Dario and Tanya; her two great-granddaughters, Bailey and Jada; and her life long friend, Florence Franke. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant grandson, Jimi.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jon Gerdts presiding.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004.
Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care Inc., or the Monona Public Library.
The family would like to thank the care givers who gave Mary Ann such kind and loving attention, especially Danielle and Helen and the staff at Altera Sterling House in Sun Prairie; and Cheryl and Christy and staff at Hospice Care.
Mary Ann will be remembered for her quick wit, her never ending sense of humor and her best-in-the-world spaghetti.
Phyllis Ann Rose
Phyllis Ann Rose, 58, of Golden, Colorado, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 1:32 a.m. October 8, 2004 at St. John's Hospice in Lakewood, Colorado.
She was born August 2, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ray C. and Jean Ann Roberts Rose.
She attended Ottumwa schools through the 7th grade and graduated from Oskaloosa High School.
She received a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Iowa.
She moved to the Denver, Colorado area before moving to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, returning to Denver in 1995.
She was a computer programmer analyst, working most recently for First Banks of Colorado.
Surviving are two sisters, Shirley D. McCauley of Ottumwa, Iowa and Sharon E. Check of Ankeny, Iowa; a brother, Dr. Dennis R. Rose of North Liberty; 8 nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Lila Mae.
Her body was cremated.
Joint services with her mother, Jean Rose, were October 14, 2004 at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Paul Smith officiating.
Inurnment will be in Chisman cemetery near Ottumwa.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
Jean Ann Rose
Jean Ann Rose, 88, died at 7 a.m. October 7, 2004, at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa, Iowa.
She was born December 28, 1915 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Paul H. and Lila Dorothy Roberts.
She married
Ray Chisman Rose July 8, 1933 and lived in Wapello County and Ottumwa from 1940 to 1959.
During that time, she was a member of the Ottumwa Women's Club.
An accomplished pianist, she accompanied the Wapello County Rural Women's Chorus and a state-wide chorus at Iowa State University in Ames.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir.
From 1959 to 1973 she lived in Oskaloosa, Iowa where she served as president of the Mahaska County Hospital Auxiliary, president of Kiwanis Ladies, and served on the administrative board of Central United Methodist Church.
In 1973, Jean and Ray retired and moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
They moved back to Ottumwa in August 1995.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Dennis Rose of North Liberty, Iowa; daughters, Shirley McCauley of Ottumwa, Iowa and Sharon Check of Ankeny, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Phyllis Rose, died October 8, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, Lila Mae, and her parents.
Joint funeral services with her daughter, Phyllis Rose, were held October 14, 2004 at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Paul Smith officiating.
Cremation followed the service.
Inurnment was in Chisman cemetery near Ottumwa.
Memorials have been established to Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa or Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
Madeline Warner Goforth
Madeline Warner Goforth, age 86 of Fairfield Bay, formerly of Cabot, passed away October 16, 2004.
She was born July 13, 1918 at Augusta, Arkansas to the late Marshall D. Warner, Sr. and Maudie Blakley Warner.
She was a homemaker and member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Beebe.
She worked at the ammunition plant during the war and also at the Redmond Motor Plant both in Jacksonville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall & Maudie Blakley Warner and her husband, Lee Goforth.
She is survived by her daughter, Freddie Ann Huff of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and numerous other family members.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 21 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Chris Depriest officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant cemetery under direction of Cabot Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Danny Ray, Ernie Arnold, Jerry Swaum, Wayne Jervis, Hank Harris, and Ed Edwards.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 20 from 6-8 PM at Cabot Funeral Home.
Arrangements are by Cabot Funeral Home.
Charles Abbott, Sr.
Charles Abbott, Sr., the son of Charles B. and Helen O'Noon Abbott was born in Salina, Kansas on December 9, 1923 and passed away at his home in Edgemont, Arkansas on October 21, 2004 at the age of 80 years.
Mr. Abbott was a very devoted husband and father.
He was an electronics technician and a veteran of World War II, having served as radioman in the United States Navy.
Mr. Abbott was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4513 and served on the honor guard.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Fairfield Bay where he served as a sacristan.
Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his wife, June Lillian Abbott; one son, William; and one sister, Beulah Schulte.
He is survived by three sons, Richard of Alexander, Arkansas, Ronald of Tinley Park, Illinois, and Charles, Jr. of Flower Mound, Texas; one daughter, Mary Therese of Joliet, Illinois; and a daughter-in-law, Anita Abbott of Orland Park, Illinois; and one brother, Frank Abbott of Simi Valley, California.
Mr. Abbott is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren besides other relatives and many friends.
A Rosary was held Sunday, October 24 at 7 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at Fairfield Bay.
A memorial service was held Monday, October 25 at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Keller officiating.
Interment was in the Church Columbarium.

Merrill Yandell
Merrill Yandell of Fairfield Bay passed away at the V.A. Hospital on October 29, 2004.
He was 80 years old.
Mr. Yandell was preceded in death by his parents William and Sara Yandell, four sisters Alma Barnard, Bea Pappin, Ersey Yandell, and Wilba Welling, one brother Glenn Yandell, and one daughter Donnetta Yandell.
A Veteran of the Normandy invasion, he was a prisoner of war for nine months.
He was a trucker, an operation manager, and a decent fisherman.
He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
He is survived by a loving wife, Betty, son Glenn Yandell, three granddaughters Shanna Shirneffs, Tara Boland, and Adriene Yandell, two great-granddaughters and one brother Herman Yandell.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church.
Charles William Galeazzi
Charles William Galeazzi, age 84, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at St. Vincent Doctors Hospice in Little Rock. Born December 15, 1919, at Melcher, Iowa, he was the son of the late Joe and Leona Galeazzi.
A former resident of Knoxville, Iowa, Mr. Gaeazzi had been a resident of Fairfield Bay since 1975.
He was a retired construction worker, and he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Galeazzi was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene Galeazzi.
Survivors include his wife, Mae (Pearson) Galeazzi of Fairfield Bay; three sons, Charles Galeazzi and his wife, Elaine, of Knoxville, Iowa, Joe Galeazzi of Overland Park, Kansas, and Jeff Gaeazzi of Fairfield Bay; three daughters, Marilyn Ridnouer and her husband, Mike, of Marshville, North Carolina, Mary Crandall and her husband, Bruce, of Des Plains, Illinois, and Michelle Kirkendoll and her husband, Terry, of Clinton, Arkansas; one sister Ila M. Walton of Iowa City, Iowa; twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Mr. Galeazzi is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
A rosary will be held Friday at 5:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Keller officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Matt Ridnouer, Tim Galeazzi, Peter Scarpelli, Nick Galeazzi, Jake Kirkendoll, and Blaine Galeazzi.
