Marsh A. Potter
Marsh A. Potter, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas died January 18, 2005, he was 84 years old. Marsh was born on February 27, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Louis and Louise Potter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Preceding him in death were his daughters Laurel and Lynne, his wife of 34 years Arleen, and his second wife of 18 years Carol.
Marsh graduated from East Division High School in Milwaukee. He later graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in education. During college Marsh played on two national championship football teams and ran on the track team. Marsh served in World War II in the Coast Guard for three years. After graduation Marsh served as a public school teacher in Grand Rapids, Round Lake, Elmore and Fairmont, Minnesota. In 1957 Marsh and family moved to Wisconsin where he taught school and coached from 1957-1980. In 1980 Marsh was awarded Coach of the Decade for the 1970s as Track and Field Coach at Milwaukee Custer High School. In 1991 Marsh was inducted into the Wisconsin Track and Field Hall of Fame. Marsh was known as the 'Dean of Coaches'.
Marsh is survived by: Jeff Potter, Tom Potter, Kim Schmitz, Lew Potter, Dan Potter, Robert Potter, David Potter, Kathy Cote, Michael Kauth, Pat Franklin, Susan O'Conner and Cindy Stefanovic. Marsh had 38 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 29 at Westbrook Church in Hartland, Wisconsin.
Rosemary J. Weaver
Rosemary J. Weaver, 84, died on Thursday, January 13, 2005, having recently relocated to Norman, OK, from her home in Fairfield Bay, AR, which she had shared with her husband,
Abram C. Weaver since 1975. Mr. Weaver preceded his wife in death.
Rosemary is survived by her son Tom Weaver and his wife Elaine, Rosemary's granddaughter Laurie Humiston and her husband Dan, and Rosemary's great granddaughter Aerin. Rosemary is also survived by her daughter Madonna Noble.
A memorial celebration will be held in Fairfield Bay in the Spring, on a date to be announced by the family.
Clarence Ira Darrow
Clarence Ira Darrow passed away on Friday, January 7, 2005 in Clinton, AR, following a three-month battle with cancer. He was born July 9, 1933, in Houston, TX. While in the U.S. Air Force he attained the range of Sergeant then, upon his discharge, Clarence joined the ranks of the Houston Police Department in 1959, working in the Patrol and Narcotics Divisions. During this time he also became a 32nd degree Mason. After holding the rank of Sergeant in the Robbery Division for 14 years, he retired on July 19, 1988.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and May Darrow. He is survived by his loving wife Diane, and his two daughters Lorie Karen Darrow Farrell and her husband Ron, and Beverly Lynn Darrow Pietzsch and her husband Kevin. He is also survived by grandson Kevin Chandler and wife Traci; grandson Trey Farrell; granddaughter Krista Lynn Hughs; great granddaughter Kaleigh Chandler; two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all their wonderful friends in the Bay for their support, and the FFB paramedics and the nurses, doctors and staff at Ozark Health Medical Center for their extraordinary care and compassion. Clarence was buried with full Police Honors on Wednesday, January 12 at SouthPark cemetery, Pearland, TX. At Clarence's request, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
Robert W. Kucera, Sr.
Robert W. Kucera, Sr., beloved husband of the late Marqugrite (Weichel) Kucera, died peacefully on January 19, 2005, at his residence in Indian Rock Village, Fairfield Bay, AR. Mr. Kucera was born in Moline, IL on June 28, 1915, attended St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IO and was graduated from the University of Iowa (1938). He served this country in the U.S. Army as Tech-Sergeant S-2 in the European Theatre of Operations. It was during furlough on the Riviera in the Fall of 1945 that he met Marqugrite (Peg), who was then a representative of the Red Cross. The two were married
in November of 1946. Mr. Kucera was then employed with Barnes and Crosby and, later, with Kieffer Nolde of Chicago in photo-engraving services. The Kuceras resided for 20 years in Wilmette, IL, raising their two sons before retiring to Fairfield Bay in 1976. In Fairfield Bay, Mr. Kucera was active in community theatre, helped to establish an outreach program to broaden Hospice volunteer services and worked diligently to raise funds and awareness for the establishment of Indian Rock Village Retirement Facility.
Mr. Kucera is survived by his brothers: Joseph Kucera of Galesburg, IL, and Thomas Kucera of Rock Island, IL; his loving sons and daughters-in-law Robert W. Kucera, Jr. (Judith) of Chicago, IL; and Daniel T. Kucera (Arma) of Oakland, CA.
Plans for a memorial service are incomplete at this time.
Dr. Glen Edward Minton(2)
Dr. Glen Edward Minton(2) took his final flight Friday, January 21, 2005. He was 83 years young. Glen was born on September 30, 1921, in Hennessey, OK to Harry and Rita Minton, who preceded him in death, along with his first wife Frances Merritt Minton; his sister, Louise Brown; his brother, Charles Minton, and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Minton.
Glen is survived by his wife, Grace and here children: Bruce and Lisa Bynum and their daughter Anna of Riverton, WY; Barbara and Larry Berkley and their children Megan, Kimberly, Justin and Tim of Little Rock, AR; Robert and Carla Bynum and their children Robb, Mikel, Katie and Cayla of Columbia/Sturgeon, MO; Betty and Dale Smith and their children Gretchen and Cooper of Buena Vista, CO. He is also survived by his brothers and their families: Harry and Mary Minton of Canton, TX; Max and Connie Minton of Ft. Worth, TX; Dick and Faye Minton of Mesquite, NV; Haden Minton of Midland, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Glen proudly served his country for five years during WWII in the 397th Bombardment Squadron. He was a B-17 pilot graduating from the 43e Gulf Coast Air Command of the 6th Air Force. He served not only as an instructor of new pilots but as personal pilot for General Jamison in the Canal Zone. He had the honor of flying Commanding Officers of all the Military Academies and the President of Peru. After an honorable discharge, he attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from the University of Missouri Dental School in Kansas City, MO. He established his private practice of 40 years in Richmond, MO.
He had been active in the American Dental Association, the K.C. Dental Association and the Ray-Layfette Dental Society. He was also a member and President of the Richmond Rotary Club; served on the Board of Directors of Shirkey Golf Course; and participated in his 43E Gulf Coast reunions. After retiring to Fairfield Bay, AR in 2000, he joined the Nine Hole Men's Golf Association and the Methodist Church.
Cremation will be with the Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, AR. A Memorial service will be held in Hennessey, OK at the Corday-Gritz Funeral Home on Saturday, February 12. An endowment has been established at the Central Wyoming College in honor of Dr. Glen E. Minton. Memorials in Glen's name may be made to CWCF Endowment Scholarship Fund, 2660 Peck Ave., Riverton, WY 82501, where the College will donate matching funds in his name.
Rosemary J. Weaver(2)
Rosemary J. Weaver(2), 84, died Thursday, January 13, 2005, succumbing to cancer and congestive heart failure. She was born and lived in Des Moines for 55 years, and nurtured her family and friends with uncommon grace.
Rosemary's daughter Madonna Noble; son, Tom and wife Elaine; granddaughter, Laurie Humiston and husband Dan; and great granddaughter Aerin Humiston miss her love and elegant nature.
Rosemary retired from Des Moines, Iowa to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas in 1975 with her husband Abram C. Weaver, who preceded her in death. She spent her remaining years
enjoying her friends, and her "wonderful home in the woods by the lake".
An active member of PEO, past president of Toastmistresses, Rosemary was also a founding member of the "Wild Women of Wilshire" neighborhood group in Fairfield Bay. Rosemary often volunteered for hospice care, and was a proud supporter of the Fairfield Bay community, which she cherished.
Rosemary loved literature and had a quirky sense of humor; a passage from Don Marquis' "archy and mehitabel" is fitting: "girls we was all of us ladies, we was O what the hell, and once a lady always game, by crikey blood will tell" According to her wishes (and her family's), a celebration of her life will be held this spring in Fairfield Bay, on a date to be announced by the family.
Clifford Henning Raaum
Clifford Henning Raaum, age 81, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Monday, January 31, 2005, at the Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas. Born in Fortuna, North Dakota, on June 1, 1923, he was the son of the late Carl John and Hannah (Christianson) Raaum. A former resident of LaGrange, Illinois, Mr. Raaum had lived at Fairfield Bay since 1986. He was a retired tool and die maker for International Harvester.
Mr. Raaum was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He was proud to be a Navy veteran, and his name is in the Archives Navy Museum in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Elva F. (Morehead) Raaum of Fairfield Bay; two sons, Keith Raaum and Kevin Raaum and his wife, Heide, all of Illinois; one daughter, Kristie Barber and her husband, Michael, of Illinois; one sister, Mildred Thompson of Illinois; two grandchildren, Lauren and Alex;
and his nieces and nephews. Mr. Raaum is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
A memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date. Interment will be in the Mount Auburn Memorial Park in Stickney, Illinois. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Adean A. Fulton
Adean A. Fulton, 82 of Fairfield Bay, passed away February 5, 2005. She was born February 5, 1923 in Ames, Nebraska to the late John Bennett and Laura May Hager Bennett. She was the widow of George Fulton, a member of the Eastern Star, a retired bookkeeper, and a Baptist. She is survived by: two sons, James Fulton of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; and Leo Fulton and wife Mary Ann of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Sarah Nash of Wichita, Kansas; and Marian Calvert and husband Tom of Rich Hill, Missouri; one sister Betty Benedict of Cabot, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church, with Ronnie Waycaster officiating.

Loyd B. Braden
Loyd B. Braden, the son of Raymond and Olga Ulven Braden, was born in Soldier, Iowa on August 29, 1919 and passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 4, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Mr. Braden was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay where he was a 3rd and 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and member of the VFW, and he had been a resident of Fairfield Bay since 1984.
Mr. Braden is survived by his wife Evelyn Siepker Braden. They had been married
since 1947. He is also survived by: one son Bennett Braden of Dallas, Texas; and one daughter JoAnn Allee of Flaxville, Montana; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be held Monday, February 7 at 7 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay, and funeral mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with interment at Woodland Memorial Park by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs.
Danielle Lauren Brugman
Danielle Lauren Brugman, infant daughter of Nathaniel Dwayne and Lea Loreen Brugman died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Saline Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her grandparents, Bryan and Ann Helzer of Conway and Danny and Kathy Williams of Fairfield Bay; great grandparents, Corrine Anderson of Great Falls, MT, Wayne and Catherine Rooks of Fairfield Bay, Mamie Smith of DeValls Bluff, John and Geneva Mulherien of DeValls Bluff, and Gene and Barbara Williams of Tupelo, AR; great-great grandmother, Lori Taylor of Devalls Bluff; aunts, Celeste Williams of Devalls Bluff and Shelly Regan of Denver, CO, and uncles, Kerry Williams of Fairfield Bay and Joshua Mendenhall of Pensicola, FL.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005 in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047). Pallbearers are Bobby Engebretson and Kerry Williams. Interment will follow at Babyland in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
Jack H. Carr
Jack H. Carr passed away at the age of 84 of congestive heart failure on January 31, 2005. He was born in Appanoose County, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mariam, his parents and five brothers and sisters. He leaves his wife Elizabeth, his daughter and two step-sons, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He had lived in Fairfield Bay since 1979 and leaves his golfing buddies and many, many friends both here and in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Memorial services were held at Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, on February 3, 2005 and services and internment were held at Shrine of Memories in Ottumwa, Iowa on February 8, 2005.
Virginia Chalk Sanders Cullum
Virginia Chalk Sanders Cullum passed away at the age of 91, on Monday, February 14, 2005 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born in Higden, Arkansas on March 23, 1913. She graduated from Heber Springs High School in 1933, then went on to attend nursing school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, graduating in 1936. During her 40 year career as a Registered Nurse, she worked in both John Gaston and St. Joseph's Hospitals then finished the last twenty years of her career with the Visiting Nurses Association of Memphis. Upon retiring in 1976, she returned home to Higden, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents Luther Steve Chalk and Sada Hammond Chalk of Higden, Arkansas; her two sisters Bessie Chalk Gadberry and Edna Chalk Rickert, both of Higden, Arkansas; one brother Willie Chalk of Higden, Arkansas; two husbands Vernon Ezekiel Sanders of Grand Junction, Tennessee and Roy W. Cullum of Higden, Arkansas. She was survived by two daughters Jeanette S. Jennings of Memphis, Tennessee and Doris S. Nipp of Greers Ferry, Arkansas; four grandchildren Yvette J. Boyles of Lakeland, Tennessee, Lauren J. Placencia of Huntington, Tennessee, Dana Carek of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Brooke J. Toelle of Omaha, Nebraska. She was also survived by eight great grandchildren Megan Placencia, Austin Boyles, Aaron Boyles, Addison Boyles, Haden Carek, Conner Toelle, Ryan Christian and Reagan Toelle.
Visitation will be held at West Side Baptist Church in Greers Ferry, Arkansas at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 17 with Funeral Services on Friday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Gideons International, P.O. Betty J. Wooden
Betty J. Wooden, age 76, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the Conway Regional Medical Center. Born in Shirley, Arkansas, on August 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Tamlage H. and Bramlet (Towery) Bradford.
A resident of Arkansas most of her life, Mrs. Wooden was a homemaker and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wooden, who passed away in 2001. Mrs. Wooden is survived by one son, Danny Wooden of Conway, Arkansas. She is also survived by other relatives and her friends.

Mrs. Faye Aileen (Snippy) Leon
Mrs. Faye Aileen (Snippy) Leon, age 76, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Friday, March 25, 2005. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on August 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Faye Aileen (Whitley) Collie.
A resident of Fairfield Bay for twenty years, Mrs. Leon was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Roland Leon, on December 4, 2004. Mrs. Leon is survived by her many friends. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Pansy Fern (Clark) Kechely
Pansy Fern (Clark) Kechely was born December 30, 1916, the third child to Sidney and Jessie (Akin) Clark on a farm south of Liberty, NE. She was fatally injured in a car accident on March 29, 2005, in Beatrice, NE. She was 88 years old.
Pansy attended Pawnee County rural schools. She attended Liberty High School in 1930 and 1931. Due to her mother's illness she quit high school to stay home and help with her younger siblings.
She was married
to Darroll Kechely of Odel, NE on February 16, 1942. Pansy tried to follow Darroll whenever possible while he was in the Army. They lived in Lawton, OK and Bracketville, TX. Their first home was in Liberty, NE where their children Dean and Gloria were born. They lived in Burchard and Wymore but spent 35 years in Beatrice, NE.
Pansy worked at the telephone office in Liberty, NE, Bracketville, TX, Wymore, NE and Beatrice, having spent 17 years as a telephone operator. She also worked at Formfit in Beatrice for nine years. Her last job was a school bus driver for the Beatrice Schools.
Pansy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the glue that held a large family together. She enjoyed having her grandchildren come to visit and was the world's best babysitter. Pansy loved to travel and boasted of being in every state in the U.S. except Washington DC, Alaska and Hawaii.
After Darroll's retirement they moved to Fairfield Bay, AR where they spent 14 'golden years' with wonderful friends. They enjoyed camping and traveling with their camping club. Darroll's failing health brought them back to Lincoln to be near the family in 1994. For the next four years Pansy was a devoted caregiver to 'Pete'. Since his death in 1997 Pansy continued to stay in Lincoln. She loved to travel to Canada to visit Dean and Carol, and Gloria and Oran in Texas. She was also a frequent traveler to her out of town grandchildren and sisters.
Pansy was a member of the Capitol City Christian Church in Lincoln where she enjoyed a Bible Lesson Study Group. She was also a member of a Social Hospice in Lincoln, The Natural Gas Pipeline Retirement Group and Telephone Operators Retirement Club in Beatrice and American Legion Auxiliary of Liberty.
Husband Darroll and infant son Richard preceded her in death, as well as her parents Sidney and Jessie (Akin) Clark, brothers Lavern and Marvin Clark, and sisters Evelyn Van Winkle and Edna Clark.
She leaves in her passing: daughter Gloria Bain and husband Oran of Rockwall, TX; and son Dean Kechely and wife Carol of Toronto, Canada.
Grandchildren: Deana Unger and husband Greg of Lincoln, NE; Rae Bain-Darby and husband Daryl of Tampa, FL; Jamie Kechely and wife Deb of Lincoln, NE; Matt Kechely and wife Kerry of Fort Collins, CO; Tara Bain of Houston, TX; Step-grandchildren Bill Bain and wife Stacey of Austin, TX; Edward Bain and wife Karen of Whitesboro, TX; and Dow Bain of Temple, TX.
Great Grandchildren: Nick, Tallie and Noah Unger; Kragen and Konner Kechely; Kennedy and Schuyler Kechely; Stone and Scarlett Bain-Smith and Ryan Darby; Step-great grandchildren Trevor and Megan Bain; Bri, Morgan and Kylnn Darby; and Jessica and Shauney Bain.
Sisters: Mildred Black and husband Robert of Beatrice, NE; Marge Hoffman and husband Fritz of Overland Park, KS; Donna Coots and husband Larry of Foley, AL; and brother George Clark of Lincoln, NE; and many special nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE, with William Thornton officiating. Interment will be in the Liberty cemetery, Liberty, NE. The body will lie in state Friday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday until the time of the service at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. A family prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel. A memorial has been established to the Capital City Christian Church Building Fund and the Liberty cemetery with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge. They will be forwarded to the family.
William Robert Florance
William Robert Florance, 82 of Fairfield Bay, AR passed away Sunday April 3, 2005 at his home. He was born May 7, 1922 in Kansas City, MO to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Florance. He was a U.S. Veteran in the Air Force during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Edna Mae Florance, and a brother Tom Florance.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Maxine Burke Florance of the home, a sister Catherine Montgomery of California, nieces, nephews, great nieces and many loving friends.
