Angelo Joseph Haislip
Angelo Joseph Haislip passed away on June 13, 2005, at the age of 58. He was the son of the late Sam and Florence Haislip. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 31, 1946, and was a resident of Shirley for most of his life.
He was Senior Vice Commander and Lounge Manager of the VFW Post 4513 in Fairfield Bay, AR. He was honorably discharged from the Army, and served our country in Vietnam and Korea.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Haislip; two brother, Tony and Sam, Jr.
He is survived by his wife April Haislip; sons Angelo, Jr. of MI, and Brian of OK; one brother Charles (Buddy) of Shirley, AR; three sisters Gail Anderton of Heber Springs, AR, Maryann Dollar of Shirley, and Florence Griggs of KS; in-laws George and Una Reed; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; numerous nephews, nieces and aunts and uncles.
Memorial services for Angelo will be Friday June 17 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, AR at 10 a.m.. Honor Guard will be provided by the Heber Springs American Legion #64.
Marie Frances Harper
Marie Frances Harper, age 93, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away Monday, June 13, 2005 at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on January 24, 1912 she was the daughter of the late H.C. and Frances (Zajicek) Jensen.
Mrs. Harper was a retired department store clerk for Cramers in Cedar Rapids. She had been a resident of Fairfield Bay since 1972, and she was a member of the Eglantine Church of Christ. Her husband, Earl Harper, preceded her in death on May 6, 1978.
She is survived by her cousins, other relatives and her friends, including Joyce Bradford and Fred Stearns, who were her caregivers in Fairfield Bay.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harper will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Eglantine Church of Christ with Walter Dub Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Eglantine cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Norma Jean McKeever
Norma Jean McKeever, age 67, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs. Born in Ewing, Nebraska on February 14, 1938 she was the daughter of the late George and Ester (Lieswald) Ruroede.
Mrs. McKeever was a homemaker and mother, and she was a retired employee of Guarantee Mutual Insurance of Omaha, Nebraska (now Jefferson Pilot). She was a graduate of Omaha Business. Mrs. McKeever was a Telephone Pioneers partner of international, state and local chapters, and she was awarded the Telephone Pioneer (SBC region) Partner of the Year Award in 1994 and was a finalist for the National Award. She enjoyed traveling, including cruises and foreign travel, and she was a member of Arkie Bells Telephone Pioneer Camping Club, Good Sams Camping Club, and SMART (Special military Active and Retired Travelers). Mrs. McKeever served as assistant treasurer of POA Hidden Valley Ranch Subdivision in south Texas and was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, as well as many other organizations. Her hobbies included playing cards and games, working crossword puzzles, sewing and reading. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church at Fairfield Bay.
Survivors include her husband of fifteen years, James W. McKeever of Fairfield Bay; two sons, David Garabrandt and Steven Garabrandt and his wife Kathie, and one daughter Jone Garabrandt, all of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother Gerald Ruroede of Orchard, Nebraska; three sisters Dorothy Schell of Gillette, Wyoming, Evelyn Peden and her husband Warren of Red Bluff, California, and Arlene Engler and her husband Lavern of Grand Island, Nebraska; and four grandchildren Michaela, Matthew, Christopher and Laura. Mrs. McKeever is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church at Fairfield Bay with Rev. Allen Freudenburg officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at Omaha, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Knights of Columbus Perpetual Mass Fund with St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at Fairfield Bay.

Linda Shull White
Linda Shull White, 56, of Camden, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Ouachita County Medical Center. She was a 1967 graduate of Shirley High School and a member of the Church of Christ of Bearden, AR. She is survived by her mother, Audrey Shull of Shirley, AR; her husband David White of Camden; brothers Charles E. Shull of Waycross, NC, and Jimmy D. Shull of Texarkana, TX; sister Glenda L. Tyler of Shirley, AR. She was preceded in death by her father Roy C. Shull. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and a host of friends that mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Bearden Church of Christ. David White will officiate the service. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at Davis Special cemetery in Fairfield Bay, AR. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden and Friday evening at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Rosa Christina Lollar
Rosa Christina Lollar a resident of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas since 1988 passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2005 in the Indian Rock Village Nursing Home at the age of 88 years.
The daughter of the late Arthur R. Amendt and Elma M. (Achtemeir) Amendt, she was born August 24, 1916 in Marshall County, Iowa. She was a graduate of Newton, Iowa High School and received an accounting certificate from South College of Commerce, Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a retired accountant and typist having been employed by the Iowa State Telephone Company, the Maytag Company, Ft. Worth, Texas National Bank and Neward Electronics. She held memberships in several organizations: AARP, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Fairfield Bay Community Club.
She and her husband Vernon enjoyed traveling and had visited all of the United States including Hawaii and Alaska as well as several European Countries, the Caribbean Islands and Nova Scotia. She was a member of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lollar was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Ruby, and brothers Gilbert and Lester Dale Amendt. She is survived by her husband Vernon Lollar, a sister Wanda Peterson of Fairfield Bay, a brother Leroy Amendt of Murrieta, California, nieces and nephews and great and great great nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and her friends.
Visitation was Saturday afternoon, July 16, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. in Heber Springs. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 18 in the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church with Rev. Bonda Moyer officiating. Interment followed in Woodland Memorial Park. Pallbearers were A.L. Richardson, Jim Phillips, Rusty Hamper, Clair McGriff and Larry McGriff. Arrangements were by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Mary Harper Sowell
Mary Harper Sowell, 81 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas died July 10, 2005 at her home in Fairfield Bay.
Born in Little Rock, she was the daughter of Riley and Allie Aldridge Harper. She was a retired teacher from the Arkansas School for the Blind, a member of the Arkansas School for the Blind Alumni Association, the Poet's Roundtable of Arkansas and Arkansas Penwomen. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Willy Sowell, and his significant other Denice Tullis of Shirley, AR; her daughter, Cissy Dowdy, and her husband Richie of Batesville, AR; grandchildren Chris and Sarah Sowell and Rana and Resa Dowdy; two brothers, John Harper and Jim Harper, both of North Little Rock, AR; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held on July 13, 2005 at Bradford cemetery Chapel in Shirley with Jarla Collier officiating. Burial was at Bradford cemetery under the direction of Olmstead Funeral Home of Heber Springs.
Gail V. Carlson
Gail V. Carlson, age 66, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Greers Ferry, Arkansas. Born October 2, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Rodney C. Carlson and Ruth (Dobbins) Carlson.
Gail was a travel agent and a member of the Peace Lutheran Church at Edgemont. She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Clearwater of Fairfield Bay, AR; one daughter, Tracy Lynn Smallen and husband, Dewey, of Farmington, MO; one stepson, Vance Clearwater of Columbia, MO; one stepdaughter, Megan Mosier of Park Hills, MO; one sister, Kay Johnson of Florissant, MO; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Cloverdale, Indiana, with Father William D. Wieland officiating. Interment will follow in Cloverdale cemetery. Local arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Services will be conducted by Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale, Indiana.
Elizabeth Louise Reardon Gilbert Carr
Elizabeth Louise Reardon Gilbert Carr passed away July 29, 2005 at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock.
Bette was born March 6, 1934 to Josephine Cicelia Luscian Reardon and Harold Joseph Reardon in Norwich, Ct. She was preceded in death by her parents, baby brother, son, Robert M. Gilbert, and husband Jack H. Carr.
She leaves two sons, John C. Gilbert of Key Biscayne, FL, James P. Gilbert of Hilton Head, SC, stepdaughter, Connie Hansen of Des Moines, IA, six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
After spending most of her life in Miami, FL raising three sons, she retired to Arkansas in 1977 and moved to Fairfield Bay in 1980. She married
Jack H. Carr in 1983 and remained in Fairfield Bay until her death.
She was an active volunteer in hospitals and Crippled Children Society in Florida and various volunteer organizations in Fairfield Bay. She retired from her beloved job as school bus driver and went into the Dade County, Florida, School System in the 60's and 70's.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Arkansas Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Martha Mae Rohrer
Martha Mae Rohrer, Edgemont, Ark., beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away August 19, 2005. Mrs. Rohrer is survived by her husband, George, children, their spouses and grand children, Jacquelyn and Martin Berbusse (Laura, Gregory) Michael and RoxeAnn (Madalynne, Amy, Travis) and John and Linda (John Jr.).
Mrs. Rohrer gave her time and talent unselfishly to her family, friends and peace Lutheran Church, Edgemont, Ark. She was an accomplished artist in oil painting, quilting and home arts.
Memorial services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, Thursday, August 25 at 2 p.m. Flowers and monetary gifts may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church or to the Greers Ferry Ambulance Fund in Mrs. Rohrer's honor.

Barbara "Bobbie" Salter Freeman
Barbara "Bobbie" Salter Freeman, loving wife and mother, age 78, and a resident of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, since 1984, died at her home on Tuesday, August 23, 2005.- Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 19, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Clements L. and Minnie (Atkinson) Salter of Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by her husband, Louis Starr Freeman of Fairfield Bay; one daughter, Starr Louise Murray of Potomac Falls, Virginia; two sons, David Salter Freeman of Marrero, Louisiana, and Ross Armistead Freeman of Somersworth, New Hampshire; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church. Memorial gifts may be made to that church at P. O. Box 1399 designated to be used for the Choir of which Bobbie had been a member.
Mrs. Ruth B. Krauskopf
Mrs. Ruth B. Krauskopf, age 92, of Greers Ferry passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. Born in Maryville, Illinois, on October 30, 1912, she was the daughter of the late William and Wilhelmine (Gronemeyer) Blass.
A resident of Cleburne County, Arkansas for twelve years, Mrs. Krauskopf was a homemaker and mother. She was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Maryville, Illinois and attended Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont for the past twelve years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl O. Feldman and Theodore H. Krauskopf.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John and Joyce Feldman of Hillsboro, Illinois; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and David Wieduwilt of Greers Ferry, Ark., Janet and Lester Boegemann of Claremore, Oklahoma and Diane and Oliver Clarke of Cape Coral, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Krauskopf is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville, Illinois from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Dealey officiating. Helen Angela Hill White
Helen Angela Hill White was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, November 27, 1915.
Her parents were John William Hill and Vashti Mooring Hill who were descendents of early settlers in Woodruff County, Paul and Lula Shelton Hill and Captain John Blackwell and Emma Angela Johnson Mooring. After graduating from the Cotton Plant High School in 1934 she attended Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway, Arkansas, and graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 1938. Helen's two brothers William Mooring Hill and Paul Blackwell Hill predeceased her.
She taught the first and second grades in the Cherry Valley, Arkansas school system for three years. On June 5, 1941 she married
James Ellis White, also a former resident of Cotton Plant, who was employed by the Standard Oil Company of Louisiana. During the fourteen years residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she became the mother of Anita Louise and Virginia Carol. Helen was active in the Sunday School of the First Presbyterian Church, served on the Board of the Baton Rouge Girls Scouts and participated in several local service groups during World War II.
In 1955 she and her family moved to Chatham, New Jersey. She became active in the Ogden Memorial Presbyterian church and in the school PTA. Upon graduation from the Chatham High School both daughters attended and graduated from the University of Delaware with Bachelor of Education Degrees. In 1966 Helen and Jim were transferred to London, England. From her home in Epsom, Surrey, England Helen developed two interesting hobbies, brass rubbing and attending country auctions. During her eleven years in England she transferred over 350 brass images set in the floors of the old Norman churches onto paper. Also during her stay she attended lectures and tours of the museums, manor houses, silver vaults, Houses of Parliament and churches that provided a background for her visits to the country auctions. Holiday trips and joining her husband on business trips took her to most of the countries in Europe and to Iran.
Upon Jim's retirement in 1977 they moved to Montville, New Jersey, to be near their daughters. She renewed participation in activities of the Ogden Memorial Presbyterian church in Chatham, became a volunteer in a nursing home and caught up on the activities of her five growing grandchildren. The eldest daughter Anita is the mother of Christine Elizabeth and Jeffery Clayton, Virginia "Ginger" is the mother of Heather Lliane, Carrie Michelle, and Tawny Whitehill.
In October 1987 Helen and Jim moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. Helen became an active member in several organizations, including Questers Antiques, AARP, Audubon and The Literary Club.
She is survived by her husband James E. White, two daughters, Anita Wellings of White Plains, NY, and Ginger Lane of Bakersfield, CA. Five grandchildren, Christine Miller of Brandon, FL, Jeffery Quinn of Valley Cottage, NY, Heather Olson of Palo Alto, CA, Carrie Chet of Fullerton, CA and Tawny Lane of Chicago, IL and one great grand child, Megan Elizabeth Olson.

Darlene Louise Dykstra
Darlene Louise Dykstra, the daughter of Peter Rosella Hoyne Page was born in Valley Springs, South Dakota on April 29, 1929 and passed away in Shirley, Arkansas on September 30, 2005 at the age of 76 years.
Mrs. Dykstra moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1942. She graduated from Washington High School in 1948. She and her husband Louis moved to a farm in Coleman, South Dakota in 1961 and farmed there until 1977 when they moved to Mt. Grove, Missouri and were in the dairy farming business until 1982. They started working in the motel management business and continued in this until retiring to Fairfield Bay in 1996. Louis passed away on June 18, 1997. Mrs. Dykstra was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont. Everywhere she lived she was active in her church, she was a member of the mission group, taught Sunday school class, vacation bible school, and was a substitute school teacher everywhere she lived. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, bird watching, and reading. She is survived by two sons Dan and his wife Lisa of Shirley, Jeff and his wife Melinda of Columbus, Nebraska; three brothers, Pete Page and his wife Loraine of South Dakota, Jim Page and his wife Vivian of South Dakota, and Don Page and his wife Delores of Arizona; five grandchildren Kayla, Jaime, Michelle, Michael, and Joshua Dykstra and three great grandchildren Clayton, Mio, and Collin Dykstra. Mrs. Dykstra is also survived by other relatives and many friends. Visitations will be Monday October 3, 2005 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home Woodland Memorial Park with funeral services at 11:00 AM Tuesday October 4, 2005 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont, Arkansas. Interment services will follow at Woodland Memorial Park by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs.
Wallace Eugene Hope
Wallace Eugene Hope the son of William Eugene and Morlie Dier Hope was born in Amite, Louisiana on September 12, 1919 and passed away in Heber Springs, Arkansas on September 30, 2005 at the age of 86 years.
Mr. Hope was retired from management in Amoco Oil Company. He attended the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church and was a member of the Fairfield Bay Lions Club. He was active in the Future Farmers of America and was a judge for the Agri-Business award for many years in the Kansas City area. Mr. Hope was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corps. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Gann Hope, a son William M. Hope, a sister Ester Harper and a grandson Spence Hope besides nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be Monday October 3, 2005 from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at Olmstead Funeral Home Woodland Memorial Park, a memorial service will be at 2:30 PM at Woodland Memorial Park by Rev. Ronnie Waycaster. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army with arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs, Arkansas.
Paul G. Allee (1933-2005)
Paul Glen Allee, 71, of Shirley, Arkansas, formerly of Cedar Falls and Belle Plaine, Iowa, died September 22, 2005, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born October 21, 1933 in Belle Plaine, Iowa he was the son of Ora McKinley Allee and Dora Belle Miller Allee. In 1953 he married
Mary Jane Gould and raised their three children Debbie, Randy, and Cindy. On November 1, 1997 he married
Donna Decker Davis whom he retired with to their home in Shirley, Arkansas.
Mr. Allee served in the U.S. Army from 1954 - 1956 and served some time, stationed in Korea. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation until 1968. At that time he moved his family to Cedar Falls, where he became the General Manager of Aerial Services, Inc. In 1973 he became the sole owner and remained as such until his retirement in 1988. Paul stayed active in the aerial mapping business even after retirement, forming Paul G. Allee and Associates. He spent many community service hours as an active member of the Vintage Car and Flying Fez Unit of the El Kahir Temple. During his latter years, he was a member of the Fairfield Bay Methodist Church in Shirley, Arkansas. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Donna; 3 children, Debbie (Craig Zeimer) of Waterloo, Randy (Pamela) of Muscatine, Iowas, and Cindy (Timothy Sr.) Perry of Richmond, Virginia; 3 step-children Kim (Tammy) Davis, Shan (Bonita) of Cedar Falls, IA., Lori, & David of Gentry, AR., 6 Grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; 4 step Great-Grandchildren, and 1 brother Bob (Millie) of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings; Gordon, Clell, Claire, Leo, and Olive 'SIS' Hadenfeldt.
SERVICE INFORMATION: Funeral will be held on Monday, September 26, 2005 at Hrabak FH in Belle Plaine at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery with Military Rites by Jennings-Bradshaw American Legion Post #39 of Belle Plaine, Iowa. There will be a Masonic Service held Sunday evening about 7 p.m.
Casket bearers include: Justin Allee, Shane Davis, Nick Davis, Ryan Larrabee, Brent Griffin, and Mike Meagan.
