Adena Turner
Mrs. Adena Turner, 88, of Hornersville, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. Born in Senath, Mo., the daughter of John and Fannie Mae Patton, she was a lifelong resident of the Senath-Hornersville area. She was a member of the Hornersville Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Turner leaves four sons, Odell Jackson of Holcomb, Mo., Leverett Jackson of Troy, Mont., Harlan Jackson of Leachville and Allen Turner of Hornersville;
One daughter, Edna Mae Graham of St. Louis;
One brother, Vester Patton of Leachville; and
Two sisters, Bertha Patton of Portageville, Mo., and Gertrude Bing of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. today at the Horner Cemetery
in Hornersville, with the Rev. David Powell officiating.
Burial was under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.
Leo D. Jeffers
Mr. Leo D. Jeffers, 92, of Blytheville died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Blytheville. He was a steward and member of Enoch Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
Mr. Jeffers received his bachelor of arts degree in 1933 from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., and his master of science degree in education from Indiana University. He did further studies at the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University.
Mr. Jeffers served as principal of schools in Smale, Noxube, Lafayette County Training School in Stamps and Richard B. Harrison High School in Blytheville from 1952 to 1970. He was the director of special programs for the Blytheville Schools from 1970 until his retirement in 1973. Mr. Jeffers also served as superintendent of schools in Tollette.
He holds life membership in the following organizations: The National Education Association, Arkansas Teachers' Association, National Retired Teachers Association, American Teachers Association, Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, St. Andrew's Masonic Lodge No. 131, Blytheville chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Arkansas Administrator Association, of which he was a founding member, the Peach Blossom Relays and Chickasawba Teacher Federal Credit Union.
Mr. Jeffers leaves his wife, Mrs. Lurene D. Jeffers of Blytheville;
Three daughters, Mrs. Mary J. Moss of Chicago, Mrs. Pamela Prude and Mrs. Melissa J. Evans, both of Memphis;
One sister, Mrs. Cussie Hilliard of Gary, Ind.;
Two brothers, Edward Jeffers of Forrest City and John W. Jeffers of Cleveland, Ohio;
Seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends; and
A nephew, Mylas Jeffers of Blytheville.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday at Lane Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Forrest City. The Rev. Ronald Williams and the Rev. Leroy Payne will officiate. Burial will follow in Haven Rest Cemetery
in Brinkley by McDonald-Horne Funeral Home of Blytheville.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
James Melvin
Mr. James Melvin, 61, of Blytheville died today at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Cobb Funeral Home.
Peggy Ann Tucker
Mrs. Peggy Ann Tucker, 53, of Blytheville, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Blytheville. Born June 6, 1946, in Birmingham, to William and Ada White Herron, she was a lifelong resident of Blytheville and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Tucker was a dedicated mother making a home for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Tucker leaves four sons, Robert McMinn of Luxora, Scott McMinn, Johnny Blagg and Willie Tucker, all of Blytheville;
Four daughters, Sandy Combs of Lost Cane, Patricia Wingate of Lone Oak, Molly Wheetly of Hickman and Candy Shaw of Blytheville;
Six brothers, Jack Herron and Bill Herron, both of Blytheville, Bob Herron, John Herron and James Herron, all of Luxora; and Roger Herron of Paragould;
Four sisters, Evelyn Kelley, Eva McMinn, Dorothy Dixon and Betty Riddle, all of Blytheville; and
Eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. George Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ada Bell Robinson
Mrs. Ada Bell Robinson, 75, of Osceola, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Arkansas Baptist Hospital in Osceola. Born in Sunflower County, Miss., she was a housewife and a member of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church of Osceola.
Mrs. Robinson leaves one daughter, Mordie Lewis of Osceola;
One sister, America Galloway of Indianola, Miss.;
Two brothers, Albert Mitchell of Cleveland and Walter Mitchell of Chicago; and
A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola, with burial following in Whiteside Cemetery. The Rev. Leon Walker will officiate.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.
Helen Brantley
Mrs. Helen Brantley, 76, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at her home. Born June 10, 1923, at Chute 16 in Pemiscot County, Mo., the daughter of William Edward Lane and Bertha Hood Lane, she attended school in Pemiscot County.
She was united in marriage to Carl William Brantley Nov. 11, 1939, in Caruthersville.
She was a member of the Caruthersville Wesleyan Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death two sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Brantley leaves four daughters, Carolyn Oatsvall and Margaret Reed, both of Caruthersville, and Barbara Vaughn and Carla Lewis, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.;
One sister, Rosabelle Barbee of Caruthersville;
Eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and
Other relatives and a special friend, Jay Chappell.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wesleyan Church in Caruthersville, with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Burial followed in the Maple Cemetery. Pall bearers were Kevin Kulpeksa, Joseph Kulpeksa, Jerry Vaughn, Tim Brantley, Scott Lewis and Charlie Oatsvall. Jeff Oatsvall served as honorary pall bearer.
The H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of services.
June Elizabeth Besharse
Mrs. June Elizabeth Besharse, 77, of Rockwall, Texas, formerly of Blytheville, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000. She was born March 13, 1923, to Walter and Zena Bush, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Besharse leaves her husband, Herschell Besharse, whom she married Oct. 18, 1949;
Three sons, Joseph Cupp Besharse of Milwaukee, Herschel Besharse Jr. of Dallas and David Wagonhurst of Springtown, Texas;
Two daughters, Susan Faye Johansen of Denver and Dianne Currin of Rockwall; and
One sister, Denise Wasp of Garland, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday at Lyons Funeral Home in Rockwall.

Addie Maxine Rewitzer
Mrs. Addie Maxine Rewitzer, 76, of Blytheville, the widow of Jack Rewitzer, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem. Born Aug. 28, 1923, in Tomato, she was a lifelong resident of Blytheville, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Rewitzer leaves two daughters, Barbara Acup Dusto of Camp and Ollie Curtis Spain of Blytheville;
One sister, Christine Hodge of Luxora; and
Two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. John Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Eddie John Fine
Mr. Eddie John Fine, 65, of Dyess, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in Memphis. Born Oct. 21, 1934, in Council Hill, Okla., he was of the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Ann Fine, and two brothers, Donald Ray Fine and Leon Fine.
Mr. Fine leaves his wife, Helen Fine, of the home;
One daughter, Betty Barnes of Walnut, Miss.;
Five sons, Clyde Edward Fine of Manila, James Matthew Fine of Burdette, Charles Jeffrey Fine of Lepanto and Cheyenne Fine and Rusty Dewayne Fine, both of Dyess;
Four sisters, Mary Lou Moore of Muskogee Okla., Freda Mae Jackson of Luxora, Betty Jean Uselton of Huntington and Bonnie Litterell of Sand Springs, Okla.;
Two brothers, Gordon Jack Fine of Seattle, Wash., and James Roscoe Fine of Owasso, Okla.; and
Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Carrolls Corner. Burial followed in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, and the Rev. Gary Porterfield officiated.

Willie Mae Bullington
Mrs. Willie Mae Bullington, 80, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Beverly Health Care in New Madrid, Mo. Born Sept. 17, 1919, in New Madrid, the daughter of Lawrence Bullington and Willie Mae Brown Bullington, she attended the McCarty schools. She was engaged in the grocery business prior to her retirement and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, J.B., Earnest and Robert Bullington.
Mrs. Bullington leaves three brothers, Felix Bullington and Clarence Bullington, both of Caruthersville, and Ralph Bullington of St. Louis, Mo.;
Two sisters, Cecil May Hunt of Louisville, Ky., and Virginia Wolfe of Lilbourn, Mo.; and
A number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Burial followed in the Maple Cemetery. Pall bearers were Danny Bullington, Arthur Bullington, Ernest Bullington, Jimmy Bullington, Berl Bullington and Jack Hunt.
