Stanley Armstrong Wells Stanley Armstrong Wells, 83 of Fairfield Bay passed away on October 3, 2006. Stan, as he preferred to be called, was born in Hansell, Iowa, on August 19, 1923 to Horace G. and Sybil Armstrong Wells. One of nine children, he was preceded in death by all but one sister, Eleanor Tamm, of Fonda, Iowa and one brother, Bill Wells, of Estes Park, Colorado. He is also survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Holm Wells and four children, Iris Wells of Wheaton, Maryland; Russell Wells of Falls Church, Virginia; Joanna Workman of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Melissa Kluthe of Omaha, Nebraska. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law, many nieces and nephews, plus a host of other relatives and friends. Stan attended Hamilton School of Commerce in Mason City, Iowa, but his education was interrupted by World War II, when he enlisted in the Air Force. Stan married Shirley Joan Holm on June 8, 1945 and a few months later, in January of 1946, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force. He went on to finish his education and then began his long career as an accountant for cooperatives, initially working for Farmland Industries. Stan traveled extensively for his company, doing tax work and auditing throughout the Midwest. In 1968, he moved his family to Lincoln, Nebraska where he spent the final years of his career at the Coopertive Service Company as head of their Special Services Division. Stan retired in 1987 and he and Shirley moved to Fairfield Bay. Even after retirement, Stan continued to travel, lending his many talents to projects all over the globe. It is estimated that he volunteered in over 20 countries. In addition, he has assisted nearly every organization in the Bay area when needed by preparing tax filings and by helping to establish by-laws and articles of incorporation. Over the years, Stan belonged to many organizations, serving as president of several, including the -National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives (NSAC) and AARP. Other organizations that he belonged to include Agricultural Coopertive Development International (ACDI), Partners of America, Tax Aides, Outreach, the American Legion and the Lions Club, among others. He and Shirley were also active members of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church. A memorial service to commemorate and celebrate the life of Stan Wells will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 2 p.m. at the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Ella Pauline Bohn Ella Pauline Bohn, 84 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas died on Thursday, October 5, 2006, the day after her birthday, at Indian Rock Village Nursing Center. She was a member of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, a well-known Avon lady for over 30 years, belonging to the President's Club. She was also a TOPS member and a breast cancer survivor. Pauline was a charter member of the Fairfield Bay International Toastmistress Club, club president, Council 4, Dixie Region president, and a delegate to Council, Region and International meetings. She attended her first International Conference in St. Louis in 1980. She is survived by one daughter, Florence Darlene Emmendorfer, who spent the past year caring for her mother; a grandson, Aaron Emmendorfer, her pride and joy; two sons, Ronald Lee Bohn of Bethany, Illinois and Paul Robert Bohn, of Norfolk, VA.; 6 grand children and 8 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Muffy. Ella Pauline Reeter was born October 4, 1922 in Fayette County, Missouri to the late Ethel and Paul Reeter. She was preceded in death by Robert Bohn, her husband of 55 years. They moved to Fairfield Bay in 1978 from Decatur, Illinois. Arrangements were made by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs with a small service for family and she will be at rest beside her husband, Robert in Eglantine cemetery. She was a friend with a smile and helpful to those in need. Pauline would like to re remembered with joy and laughter. Memorials can be made to the Pauline Bohn Memorial Fund at the Fairfield Bay branch of Simmons Bank. Ramiro A. Anaya Ramiro A. Anaya was laid to rest on Wednesday, October 11, 2006. A native of Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico, he spent 50 years in the Chicago area where he worked as a golf master craftsman for Wilson Sporting Goods. He retired in 1996 and moved to Fairfield Bay in 1997. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diamantina and is survived by his wife, Dolores, and 3 sons, Frank (Karen) Richard and John (Bridget), 3 grandchildren Sean, Megan Xander, sister, Socorro Anaya, and sister-in-law, Marie Niec (Alphonsus) brother-in-law, Roger J. Valles (Ann) and numerous nieces and nephews. As a member of the Fairfield Bay community, he was instrumental in the beautification of the area by planting flower gardens at the Top of the Mountain entrance and at St. Francis Catholic Church. Ramiro was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, past officer of the FFB Yacht Club, and former member of the Lions Club. He was an accomplished chef, and the best coffee maker that the Thursday Nine-Hole golf group ever had. Ramiro was the epitome of what a Christian gentleman represents. He gave to all with a kind heart and a generous soul. He was loved by all who knew him, and we will miss him. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter and Indian Hills Beautification Fund. Jim Wayne Muhs Jim Wayne Muhs was born on June 21, 1953, the son of Wayne and Gloria 'Jeanie' (Knott) Muhs. He spent his childhood years in Hartley and graduated from Hartley High School in 1971. In 1973, Jim entered in U.S. Navy, where he served for 7 years as an electronics technician. Fter leaving the Navy, he stayed in Southern California, working for the Raytheon company. His work there involved assisting in the development of radars used on modern nuclear submarines. Jim later returned to his Iowa roots, settling once again in Hartley. Here his life took on more of a humanitarian role. He spent five years at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, IA. Where he had the privilege of being a advocate for a very special person there: Rochelle 'Shelby' Roberts. When Rochelle moved out of the area, Jim went to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Community Memorial Health Center Mann Wing in Hartley. He was known as a 'Teddy Bear' who always worked hard and gave compassionate care. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a collector f many things: Teddy Bears, Harley Davison Miniatures and hammered aluminum just to name a few. Above all, Jim's favorite hobby was LIFE! His compassionate heart and ready smile will surely be missed. Jim is survived by his parents Wayne and Jeanie of Fairfield Bay, AR.; one brother Mark and his wife LaVonne of Nixa, MO.; one sister Sheryl and her husband Larry Dickens of Sioux City, IA.; his cherished nieces and nephews, including 13 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles and Emma Muhs, and Vern and Leila Donnenworth. Don Willard Shelton Don Willard Shelton, age 87, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 1st, 2007, at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Miami, Oklahoma, on August 14, 1919, he was the son of the late William P. and Nancy E. (Finley) Shelton. Mr. Shelton was retired from the Adjunct General's Office of the Department of Defense in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. A resident of Fairfield Bay since 1973, Mr. Shelton was a member of the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mae Shelton, on January 11, 2005, and by one son, Gary Alan Shelton in 1989. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Shelton, and a sister, Ruth Shelton. Survivors include his son, James W. Shelton and wife, Leah Raye, of Independence, Missouri; and his aunt, Ruth Johnson of Webb City, Missouri. Mr. Shelton is also survived by other relatives and his many friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6th, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ronny Waycaster officiating. Interment will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7th, at 10:00 a.m. in the G.A.R. cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs. Charles W. Nance Charles W. Nance, age 76, of Shirley, Ark., passed away in his home on January 23, 2007. Born July 30, 1930 in Gosnell, Arkansas, he was raised in Missouri where he graduated from Cooter High School in 1948 and was a farmer. Mr. Nance also resided in Crown Point, Indiana for over 40 years. Charles is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Mary Nance; two sons, Rick (Cheri) Nance of Crown Point, Indiana & Scott (Debbie) Nance of Mesa, Arizona; Four daughters, Carolyn Nance of Scottsdale, Az., Marsha (Robert) Seiler of St. Petersburg, Fl., Terry Guerre of Portage, Indiana, & Debbie Mills of Mesa, Arizona; three step-children, Ronald Ooms of Demotte, Ind., Brenda (Darryl) Wiederhold of Hebron, Ind., Sharon (Donald) Rush of Crown Point, Ind.; seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother, James (Pat) Nance, of Steele, Mo., three sisters, Rhena (Jerome) Lindsey, Wilma Barnes of Steele, Mo., and Joyce (Jim) Fairfield, of Shirley, Ark., many more family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mary Nance, Jean Nance, his wife of 34 years, a daughter Ruthie Nance, step-son Nelson Perry, son-in-law Edward Gurerre, and brother-in-law William Barnes. Charles was a carpenter with Calumet Construction, in supervision for many years and a member of Local 1005 Carpenters Union for over 45 years. He was also a former member and past president of the Crown Point Lions Club for many years. Charles loved to hunt and fish and garden. He was a real people person who dearly loved his family and loved life. Chuck was a member of Pleasant Valley Church in Shirley, Ark. Funeral will be Saturday, January 27, 2007 @ 10 a.m. at Geisen's Funeral Home, Larry Fairfield will officiate. Burial at Calumet Park. A local memorial service will be announced at a later date. Lawrence M. Sullivan Lawrence Michael (Larry) Sullivan, aged 70, passed away at his home in Greers Ferry, Arkansas, on January 10, 2007, of lung cancer. Born in Iron Belt, Michigan, he grew up in Hurley, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Air Force working on electronics maintenance for the first C-130's at Smyrna Air Force Base near Nashville, Tennessee. He worked in Alaska on the 'White Alice' radar project that protected the U.S. from potential Russian attack. He moved to Channel Five, the CBS affiliate in Nashville, where he supervised audio operations and managed the sound on 'Hee-Haw' for many years. He was brought to Los Angeles to head audio operations for the largest post-production facility in Hollywood. He retired to Greers Ferry in 1996 and became a well-known actor in the Fairfield Bay community, starring in every play in which he performed. An avid runner, he completed a number of marathons, half's and 5K's. Larry was a member of the Heber Springs EdenSong Chorale, the FFB Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church Choir and its hand bell choir. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Dr. Michael Sullivan (Dr. Becky); twin son an daughter, Lee and Laura Sullivan; daughter, Mrs. Julie Fortune (Dr. Scott); two step-daughters, Jeannie Fields Mulkins and Elizabeth Fields Godwin (Michael), one step-son, Lee Fields (Ann); five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday, January 20, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Kirk of the Hills. Interment will be in Hurley, Wisconsin. Memorials may be given to the Kirk music program or the EdenSong Chorale, Heber Springs, in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs Dorothy (Dottie) Lucille Neimeyer Born: September 1st, 1915--Frankfort, IN / Died: December 29th, 2006--Fairfield Bay, AR Preceded in death by her husband Charles Neimeyer (1994). No children. Two surviving relatives, a nephew and a niece on husband Charles' side, Gary Kautsky, Muncie, IN, and Mary Louise Solbeck, Livermore, CA. Dorothy and her husband lived on Tee Pee Lane in Fairfield Bay from 1976 to 1995. Dorothy then moved to #208, Indian Rock Village and resided there until her passing. Dorothy was active in the Literary Club, the 9 Hole Ladies Golf, as well as bowling and fishing. She and her husband traveled throughout the U.S. for many years in their RV. Dorothy worked for the U.S. Civil Service during WWII and several years afterwards, assisted in the Quartermaster Division, the Maritime Commission, and the Army Commissary Dept.. Her final years of employment before retirement in 1972, was as a secretary/bookkeeper for a pediatrician. Dorothy was a member of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church. A memorial service lead by Pastor Bonda Moyer is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13th at 2 p.m. at Indian Rock Village. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Indian Rock Village Auxiliary, a volunteer organization which ministers to the residents of the Nursing Wing at Indian Rock Village. James Fines Campbell James Fines Campbell, 92, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, died Friday, December 15, 2006, at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Elizabeth, Arkansas, on May 25, 1914, he was the son of the late Jess and Artie May (Wilkins) Campbell. Mr. Campbell had been a resident of Fairfield Bay since 1985 and was a former resident of Memphis, Tennessee. He was a retired employee of B.F. Goodrich Company where he was employed for thirty-two years. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Greco) Campbell, and by one son, John Campbell. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Trisha Campbell of Marietta, Georgia, and Jerry and Lindalyn Campbell of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Jim, Jeff, and Boyd; one great-grandchild, James; two brothers, three sisters, and his companion, Mary Graff of Fairfield Bay. Mr. Campbell is also survived by other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 5th, 2007, at 1:00p.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Sue Flemr officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, or Peace Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Janie Marlene Lucas Janie Marlene Lucas, age 18, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born in Lakeland, Florida, on June 25, 1988, Janie was the daughter of Wade Thomas Lucas Sr. and Marlene Yvonne Barron Lucas. She was a student and resident of Shirley for the past four years. Janie was a member of the Parma Full Gospel Church. She is survived by her parents, Wade and Marlene Lucas of Shirley; two brothers, Wade Thomas Lucas Jr. and Luke J. Lucas, both of Shirley; one sister, Mary Mae Lucas of Shirley; her grandparents, David and Yvonne Barron of Shirley, and Ken and Betty Lucas of Plant City, Florida; her great-grandfather, Jackson M. Barron of Lakeland, Florida; and her uncles and aunts, Tim and Brenda White of Shirley, and Hank and Marlene Evering of Bradenton, Florida. Janie is also survived by other relatives and her many friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2006, from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. in Heber Springs. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 22, at 2:00p.m. in the West Side School Gym with Rev. Dennis McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Memorial Park.
