Donald Johnston Weibmer

Donald Johnston Wiebmer, M.D., of Fairfield Bay, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Madeline, his wife of 64 years whom he loved deeply, survives.
Don was born in Quincy, Illinois, on November 6, 1918, the only child of Anton and Laura (Johnston) Wiebmer. His closest childhood friend and double cousin, Bill (and Barbra) Wiebmer of St. Charles, Illinois, also survives. Don was an Eagle Scout. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois and did his internship at St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago where he met a nurse, Madeline Olson, Whom he married
on November 23, 1943.
Immediately following the wedding, Don left for England to serve as a physician in the Army Air Force. He has postings in England, France, and Germany during his three years (1943-46) of WWII service.
Upon return from the war, Don and Lynn settled in Alton, Illinois, where he maintained a private medical and surgical practice for 35 years. Don was board certified with the Fellows of the American Collage of Otolaryngology.
Survivors include four children: Judy (Bill) Crichton of Spokane, Washington; Mary (Steve) Culp of Atlanta, Georgia; John (Ning) Wiebmer of Peoria, Illinois; and Ann (Scott) Strang of Little Rock. Survivors also include 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 26, 11am at Pearce Lutheran Church in Edgemont, Arkansas, officiated by Pastor Dean Fodness. Memorials for Don may be made to the American Cancer Society or peace Lutheran Church.
Marjorie Stearns

A member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Salem, Oregon, Marjorie Stearns, (born June 9, 1927, Everett, Massachusetts) slipped the bonds of earth on January 8, 2009, leaving behind her life long love and soul mate of 61 years, Fred; four sons, Clark Stearns, of Corpus Christi, Texas; Robert Stearns, of Salem, Oregon; Karl Stearns, of Bedford, Texas; and Kenneth Stearns, of LaGrange, Wyoming; nine grand children, and eight great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and loving extended family members. A ready and welcoming smile, a helping hand, love of family and a sincere love of 'fellow-man' characterized a life rich with life-long friends, relatives, and accomplishments in service for others.
While raising her family, Marjorie found time also to be a Den Mother, a PTA activist, and in 1969 led a citizen's movement in Texas which resulted in an overwhelming defeat of a motion in the Texas Legislature which would have established a sales tax on food in that state. Her leadership resulted in the establishment of TROT, (Taxpayer's Revolt of Texas) a group dedicated to keep an eye on the fiscal plans of the Texas Legislature.
Her culinary skills were outstanding, and her annual Christmas parties for family, friends and business associates were legendary; resulting in later years in the establishment of her catering business which occupied her until retirement in 1989. She continued her service to others during her retirement years in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, through church work, civic organizations, and community outreach, and Preceptor Alpha Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of which she was president for a number of years; remaining active until health considerations required relocation to Salem, Oregon, to be near one of her sons. Once in Salem, she transferred her Beta Sigma Phi membership to the Salem Alpha Master Chapter, and served as president for a year. She was also a volunteer for the Salem Police Department.
Having open arms, heart, and house, she believed and practiced Matthew 25:40, " . . . . . Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
Memorials may be made to Central Asia Institute, P.O. Box 7209, Bozeman, MT 59771, or charity of choice. A memorial service is planned for 2 pm February 7, 2009 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3737 Liberty Road South, Salem, Oregon.

WILLIAMSON (nee McSpedden) - Mrs. Vicki F. Williamson, aged 69 of Comstock Park, MI, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn McSpedden; brother, John Larry McSpedden; sister, Judy Gerbert; brother-in-law, Huey Posey; and her best friend, Peg Baca of San Antonio, TX. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, David; sons, Gregory of Grand Junction, CO., Gary (Erin) of Newburgh, IN., and Bo (Anne) of Conklin, MI; grandchildren, Lindsey, Emma, Tara and Keaton Williamson all of Newburgh, IN; Owen and Carter Denslow, Noah and Ryan Williamson of Conklin, MI; sisters, Jean (Blaise) Netardus of Jourdanton, TX, Delvyne Posey of Brady, TX; sister-in-law, Nancy McSpedden of San Angelo, TX; many nieces and nephews. Vicki was a loving wife and mother, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing bridge, solving crossword puzzles, antiquing and working in her garden. Vicki worked at the Petoskey News Review as a Classified Ads Manager for many years. She was a member of XI Gamma Sorority of Boyne City, MI. Vicki was a member of the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Fairfield Bay, AR. Todd Searight Neff

Todd Searight Neff undertook his greatest adventure as he passed into eternal life on Saturday, January 3, 2009. Though his departure at a mere 40 years of age was sudden and unexpected, he entered naturally into his Father's waiting arms.
A man of passion, Todd pursued life without limits. Born March 14, 1968 to Searight and Patricia Neff, he embraced every opportunity from the very beginning. By his father's side he developed a love for nature, through hiking, camping, fishing, trapping and exploring. As he grew, his passions grew to include experiences that tested his abilities and challenged him personally. An expert snow skier, he also mastered surfing, cliff jumping, soccer, lacrosse, and other extreme activities. Yet Todd was also a man who found joy in simple pleasures. He loved rainy days, animals, playing with children, good books, and poetry. What he couldn't experience himself, he experienced through his favorite writers such as Robert Frost. And though he was no musician, he embraced that as well by becoming a passionate follower of the band The Grateful Dead.
Todd gave his whole heart to whatever he pursued, but most especially when it came to people. A living example of God's greatest commandments, Todd pursued the love of God with his whole mind, searching for the truths of faith and finding them by loving people. He had the uncommon quality of allowing others the luxury to be who they really are and still be fully and utterly accepted. No one appreciated this gift more than his mother who found a rare and liberating freedom in being herself in the presence of her son. In him she found "love + light" as he had wished it innumerable times.
Todd was not a man who accumulated earthly possessions. He had little esteem for what could be owned, but used what he did have generously to help others. Instead of living to work, Todd Searight Neff worked only to the extent that it allowed him to live life to its fullest. An excellent communicator he used his talents at speaking and free lance writing, as well as pursuing work that would allow him the freedom he sought. Not tied to a career or location, he took every opportunity to forge new paths to new places, always ready to meet new challenges, yet some places became dear enough to return time and time again. Though he most recently resided in Post Falls, Idaho, he loved Ligonier, Pennsylvania where he spent much of his childhood, attending The Valley School and Western Reserve Academy. He completed school at Cape Henlopen High School in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware growing to love the community. Attending college in California added that state to his list of favorite places; but it was time spent with his family on Greer's Ferry Lake that made Arkansas a place he would return to often.
Though outwardly Todd was a wanderer, home was always with his family. His legacy is written on the hearts of those he leaves behind. Todd is survived by his parents, Searight and Patricia Neff of Nacogdoches, his sister and brother-in-law, April and Matt Rocco of Nacogdoches, and daughter Sadie A. Neff of Michigan. Todd is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Emeline Thompson of Nacogdoches, whom he affectionately named Nana Banana. Surviving aunts and uncles include Sam and Virginia Yeingst, Donnie and Sondy Neff, Jim and Cathy Neff, Roene Neff, and Judy Neff all of Pennsylvania, as well as Bonnie Neiman of Florida. He is also survived by nephews Nicholas and Matthew Rocco and niece Lexie Rocco all of Nacogdoches, and a multitude of cousins and close friends. Among treasured friends are Kelci and Jim Iyoob of Nacogdoches, Jeanne Travis and Tyler Wagner of Idaho, Janet Yuhasz of Pennsylvania and the Reverend Bob Hadley of Fairfield Bay.
Todd is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Dorothy and Elmer Neff, Sr., maternal grandfather Douglas Thompson and uncles Robert Neff, Elmer Neff, Jr., Ken Neff, and Vernon Neff.
To know Todd Neff was to know a man of humor, quick wit, compassion, generosity and an unending capacity to love people. It is that life that will be celebrated at a funeral service Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Cason Monk Funeral Home, with Pastor Justin Beadles of Grace Bible Church officiating. In keeping with his heart for others and his great love for his Nana, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association.
Though much briefer than any who loved him hoped, Todd lived a life many could envy because he had the courage to do what few others have dared - in the words of Robert Frost, Todd Searight Neff took the road less traveled through this brief life.

Norma Jean Thompson, age 79, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her home. Born on February 2, 1929 in Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jasper.
Mrs. Thompson was a retired school teacher and a member of the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Lloyd Thompson; two sons, Chant Thompson and wife Marsha, and Tannen Thompson; several grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Reece officiating.

Robert Andrew Rybibki, 80, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2008 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Hammond, Indiana on December 23, 1927. After being stationed in Japan with the Army, he graduated from the University of Illinois in 1952. Bob was a Certified Public Accountant and retired from The Hertz corporation in 1988 after 30 years with the company.
Bob is survived by his wife Nancy of 50 years; his sisters Joyce Adams and Carol Kacocha; son Robert Jr. and daughter-in-law Joni of Oklahoma City; daughter Ann Mills and son-in-law Barry of San Antonio; and seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Elizabeth.Bob loved his family, his garden, and fishing and golfing with his many friends. He was a long time fan of the Chicago Cubs. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his wisdom and his sense of humor, all of which will be greatly missed.A memorial service was held at the Presbyterian Kirk of the Hills on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 11a.m. A graveside service was held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Kirk of the Hills, 250 Dave Creek Parkway, Fairfield.

Steve Owen had his first breath of life on December 2, 1955 in Margarittesville, New York, and crossed over the river on November 2, 2008 at his home in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.He attended school and graduated from Livingston Manor, New York. Since 1982, Steve has been a resident of Fairfield Bay and has been a faithful employee for the Community Water System for the past 16 years.Steve was a loving, dedicated husband and father and needs to be recognized for all his volunteer work for the Shirley Baseball Association. He also helped in many other ways for the community.He is preceded in death by his grandparents.He left behind his wife, Rose, of 13 years; his son, Stephen; daughter, Nikki; son, Joseph; and grandson, Braylon. He also is survived by his father, Bowman, and stepmother, Jeanette; his mother, Katherine; and four sisters, Sharon, Susan (Wayne), Sheila, and Sandra (Tom); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
Lowell F. Emert

Lowell F. Emert, a 25 year resident of Fairfield Bay died at age 92 on November 26, 2009 at the home of his son Alan Emert in Black, Missouri. Mr. Emert was born near Hillview, Illinois to Floyd Emert and Esther Witty Emert. His parents and brother Gene and sister Eck and daughter Patricia Dombrosky (Edward) preceded him in death. Mr. Emert leaves behind his devoted wife of 72 years Helen (nee Tempel) and sons Alan (Elaine) and Robert (Margaret), 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Mr. Emert retired in 1984 as a Vice President after a 45 year career with Fru-Con Construction Company. During his career with Fru-Con, Lowell and Helen lived in many different parts of the country. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States visiting family and friends and sightseeing. Mr. Emert was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, past president of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Carpenter's Union and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Donations in Lowell Emert's memory to the Knights of Columbus would be appreciated. A service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2009. A Rosary will also be said on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Church.

Shirley M. LaFay passed away on November 24th, 2009, She was 82. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Jack LaFay. She had two sons; Richard LaFay of Slidell, La. And Jack LaFay Jr. of Charlevoix, Mi.; She had 4 grand children, Michelle Foley, Catherine LaFay, Jeff LaFay, and Richard LaFay. She had 3 great grand children, Jack, Nigel and Archer LaFay. Shirley was a retired executive assistant for Oakland Schools in Pontiac, Michigan, A Fairfield bay resident for over 20 years and a volunteer at the local library. Her internment will be at the Maple Hill cemetery in Cadillac, Mi at a later date.

Cathy Jo Rucks 54, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Ozark Health Nursing Center of Clinton, Arkansas. She was born February 11, 1955 at Duluth, Minnesota to the late James Robert and Marie Sophie Payne Nelson.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years Ronald Jay Rucks of the home, daughter, Michele Amber Gomes (Rucks) and husband Kleevan of Ndola Zambia, Africa, two grandchildren, Ezra, and Quinn, sisters, and brothers, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Shirley J. Thompson, age 84, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, formerly of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2009, at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Ottawa, Illinois, on September 5, 1925, she was the daughter of Otto and Vina (Jacobson) Rygh. She married
William A. Thompson on May 5, 1946, in DeKalb.
Shirley has been a resident of Fairfield Bay for over 30 years, having moved from DeKalb when she and her husband retired. She formerly worked at St. Mary's Hospital, Brody Coats, and the DeKalb Bank. She was a tireless volunteer for the American Legion Post 66 in DeKalb and Post 333 in Fairfield Bay. Shirley recently retired from the nationally recognized Color Guard team sponsored by the VFW of Fairfield Bay.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William A. Thompson; her parents, Otto and Vina (Jacobson) Rygh; son, Mark Thompson; and brothers, Cliff and Arnold Rygh.
She is survived by two sons, William Thompson and wife, Cindy, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Robert Thompson and wife, Irene, of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Marlene Sherrill and husband, Steve, of DeKalb, Illinois; one sister, Otta Ritzman and husband, Allen, of DeKalb, Illinois; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lois and Don Seitzinger of DeKalb, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Fairfield Bay. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.

Kyle Dean Bradford, 47, of Shirley died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at his home. Born in Heber Springs on July 11, 1962, he was the son of Joyce (Cullum) Bradford and the late Garner Bradford. A lifelong resident of Shirley, he was self employed and a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garner Bradford; his grandparents, Claude and Effie Bradford and Monte Cullum; and his twin brother, Lyle Christopher Bradford. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Carner Bradford; his mother, Joyce Bradford of Fairfield Bay; his grandmother, Lucille Cullum; one son, Nicholas Alexander Bradford of Shirley; one daughter, Jordan Brooke Bradford of Conway; one stepson, Chad Wood of Hot Springs; one stepdaughter, robin Wood of Little rock; one brother, Chris Bradford of Shirley; one sister, Faith Wilson of Conway; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Eglantine Church of Christ with Tim Caldwell officiating. Interment was at the Eglantine cemetery.

Edmund August Woerner 93, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Ozark Health Medical Center Clinton, Arkansas. He was born November 25, 1916 at Chicago, Illinois to the late August and Wilhelmena (Dahlberg) Woerner.
He is a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard Woerner, and George Woerner, three sisters, Agnes Curry, Dorothy Paglusch, and Cora White.
He is survived by his wife Ann May (Siecker) Woerner, of the home, son, Raymond Woerner and wife Toni of Naples, New York; two daughters, Jean Rumps and husband Norb of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; and Shirley Rudolph and husband Jim of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two sisters, Lorraine Divis and Mary Denges.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00am Friday, December 11, 2009 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
Cremation Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.
