Lila Dillard

Lila Dillard, 99, of Hot Springs died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999.

born July 25, 1900, at Russellville, the daughter of Mary and Leonard Berry, she was a graduate of Louisville Conservatory at Louisville, Ky., and College of the Ozarks at Clarksville where she studied art, and was a concert pianist and studied with George Copeland in New York City, and charter member of Business and Professional Women’s Club at Russellville, member of the John Homer Scott U.D.C Chapter and an Episcopalian.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lealand F. Dillard.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crestview Mausoleum with the Reverend Dr. Larry Williams officiating.

Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Florence E. W. Harper

BUCKVILLE - Services for Florence E. Wilhite Harper, 94, of Buckville, who died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmie Scott and Curtis Stillwell officiating.

Pallbearers will be Junior Murders, Norban Kinsey, Ray Lawrence, Darrell Bratton, Lonnie Harper, Robert Harper, Jim Harper and Dewey Harper.

Honorary pallbearers are brother Joe Thompson, Members of Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church, Ruth Sharp, Danny and Barbara Cockman, James Murders, Tom Gates, Vernon McClelland, John Keener and St. Joseph’s Regional Health Center 3 West staff.

Burial will be in Mount Tabor cemetery.

Arrangements are by Caruth Village Funeral Home of Hot Springs Village.

Calvin A. Hessert

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - Calvin A. Hessert, 80, of Hot Springs Village died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at his home.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines with the Reverend Samuel Pope officiating.

The body will be cremated.

Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, 275 Austurias Drive, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909, or the Shrine Club, 2 Badalona Drive, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909.

Arrangements are by Caruth Village Funeral Home.

Gloria B. McCullough

Gloria Belle McCullough, 64, or Hot Springs died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at a Little Rock hospital.

Born Aug. 10, 1935, at Chicago, she was a member of Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, John McCullough of Hot Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lisa McCullough of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Jane McCullough of Lewisville, Texas; three brothers, James Graham of Nevada, Richard Graham of Washington and Robert Graham of Illinois; four sisters, Claudia Heneghan, Dale Beasley and Sylvia Miller of Illinois and Linda Hertog of Florida; and one grandson, Daniel McCullough of Nashville.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Maxie Haynes officiating.

Burial will be in Morning Star cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Anna Sudges

Anna Sudges, 91, of Hot Springs died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at a local nursing home.

Born Nov. 24, 1907, at Chicago, she was a homemaker and member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Catholic Council Women and Daughters of Lithuania. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Genevive Sudges of Mexico; three granddaughter and her husband, Teresa and Dan Gibble of Champaign, Ill.; two grandsons and wives, Michael and Lori Sudges and John and Shelly Sudges, all of Aurora, Ill.; and six great-grandchildren, Erik Hall, Ann Gibble, Kate Gibble, Kyle Sudges, Sarah Gibble and Jessica Sudges.

Rosary recitation will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint John’s Catholic Church with Father James West officiating.

Burial will be in Crestview cemetery.

Mary A. B. Vestall

ARKADELPHIA - Mary Alice Blmfield Vestal, 76, of Arkadelphia, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at a Hot Springs hospital.

Born Feb. 20, 19232, at Arkadelphia, the daughter of the late Ed and Laura Howell Blmfield, she was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church of Arkadelphia.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Vestal.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary F. Vestal of Arkadelphia; one son, Michael E. Vestal of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Anne Evans of Arkadelphia; and one grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Betty McCommas officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Visitations will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Arrangements are by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Oren Wolfe

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - Oren Wolfe, 68, of Hot Springs Village died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at his home.

Born Dec. 18, 1930, he was a U.S. Army veteran, member of Evening Lions Club and the administration board of Village United Methodist Church and president and chairman of the education committee of the Methodist Men’s Club.

He was predeceased by one son, Brian Wolfe.

Survivors include his wife, Greta Goering Wolfe of Hot Springs Village; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Amy Wolfe of Havertown, Pa., and Eric and Paula Wolfe of Frankfort, Ill.; three sisters Helen Dillon of Martinez, Calif., Vera Lamka of Miami, and Ruby Quick of Cody, Wyo.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Village United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tom Jarrell and David Protho officiating.

The body will be cremated.

Memorials may be made to Levi Hospital, 300 Prospect Ave., Hot Springs, AR 71901-4097.

Arrangements are by Caruth Village Funeral Home.

Don M. Black

POCATELLO, Idaho - Don Maurice Black, 68, of Pocatello, Idaho, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999.

Born Aug. 2, 1931, in Hot Springs to William Arthur and Myrtle Brown Black, he was a graduate of Weber College, U.S. Air Force veteran, retired electrician and member of IBEW 449 and Highland Men’s Golf Association. He was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel Arthur Black and Franklin Rsevelt Black; three sisters, Jeanette Black Garner, Betty Joe Black and Ruth Margaret Black; and one grandson, Milo Maurice Black.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Weenig Black; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Kay Black of Pocatello, Cindy Ann Black of Elko, Nev., Barbara and Pat Ayling of Boise, Idaho, and Susan Black and Sy Stras of West Valley City, Utah; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael Don and Paulette Black of Atlanta and Mark William Black and Brian Lynn Black, both of Pocatello; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Thomas and Tackett Black and Myrna Lou Black, all of Hot Springs, and Kathleen Black of Houston; two sisters, Lavern “Babe” Gwyn of Brinkley and Martha Jean Richardson of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Latter-day Saints Second Ward Chapel, Pocatello.

Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery with full military honors provided by the Pocatello Veteran’s honor guard.

Memorials may be made to Idaho Youth Ranch.

Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Mary E. Black

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Black, 96, of Hot Springs Village died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, in a local nursing home.

Born Nov. 16, 1902, in Ecru, Miss., to Samuel and Dola Robbins Gates, she was Baptist. She was predeceased by her husband, Dayton Black; one brother, Marvin Gates; two sisters, Codenia Jackson and Willie Holcomb; and one son, Buford Black.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Deloris and Ira Walker and Retus and Chuck Zierke, all of Hot Springs Village; one sister, Resa Newsum of Ponotoc, Miss.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cario Baptist Church, Ecru, with the Rev. Sam Holcomb officiating.

Burial will be in Ecru cemetery, Ecru.

Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gd Samaritan Nursing Home.

Arrangements are by CedarVale Funeral Home.

Nancy L. Carter

Nancy Lett Carter, 64, of Hot Springs died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at home.

Arrangements will be announced by Gross Funeral Home.

Mae S. Cke

Services for Mae S. Cke, 82, of Hot Springs who died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Little Rock National cemetery with Rabbi Harley Karz-Wagman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charity of donor’s choice.

Arrangements are by Gross Funeral Home.
