Ewell J. Shinaberger
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -– Ewell Jack Shinaberger of Hot Springs Village died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in a local hospital.

A retired U.S. Air Force major, he served during World War II, was a meteorologist, U.S. Navy Civil Service weather forecaster, Boy Scout leader, Sunday Schl teacher, member of Barcelona Road Baptist Church and ordained a deacon at First Baptist Church of Selma, Ala.

Survivors include his wife, Rosabel Shinaberger; two sisters, Jean Hayden of Charleston, S.C., and Jill Copelin of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Joseph Shinaberger of Colton, N.D.; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Patricia Shinaberger of Bradford, Pa.; and one grandson, Lee Shinaberger.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Caruth Village Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Elton Gray officiating.

Memorials may be made to Bradford Area Public Library, 350 West Washington St., Bradford, PA 16701; or charity of donor’s choice.

The body will be cremated.

Melia J. Smith
Melia Jarusha Smith, 3 months, of Hot Springs died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at home.

Born Nov. 26, 2000, in Hot Springs, she was Baptist.

Survivors include her mother, Alissa M. Tracey of Hot Springs; her father, Quincy T. Smith of Hot Springs; two brothers, Collin K. Smith and Deshun R. Smith, both of Hot Springs; her grandparents, Barbara Contreras, Geraldine Solomon and Rickey Osborne, all of Hot Springs; her great-grandparents, Stanley and Hazel Smith of Hot Springs and Ida Mae Smith of Lima, Ohio; her great-great-grandmother, Etta Hill of Royal; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Gross Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Leroy Hill and Harold Turner officiating.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Tracey, Daniel Contreras, James Isom and Ronald Hurd.

Honorary pallbearer is Chaston Watson.

Burial will be in Lowe cemetery, Royal.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Melia Smith Memorial Fund, Regions Bank.

Joann Trupiano
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -– Services for Joann Trupiano, 77, of Hot Springs Village who died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Caruth Village Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tom Jarrell officiating.

Burial will be in National cemetery, Little Rock.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

James H. Williams
KIRBY – Services for James Harold Williams, 86, of Kirby who died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Brothers Bobby Golden and James Winston officiating.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Grant, Ray Ck, Joe Mason, Clay Crump III, Harlon Duren and Johnny Fry.

Honorary pallbearers are Tom Wd, Roy Johnson and Johnathan Fry.

Burial will be in Mount Joy cemetery.

Arrangements are by Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwd.

Dollie N. Canada
MALVERN - Dollie Nutt Canada, 90, of Malvern died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at her home.

Born June 10, 1910, in Malvern to Robert Lee and Annie Mobley Nutt, she was a housewife and member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey L. Canada; one son-in-law, Mel Pennington; and four sisters, Sudie Hohrine, Eather Riggan, Lela Nutt and Melissa Ipock.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Pennington of Malvern and fiance, Lloyd Masoner; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Nancy and Pat Walsh of Anaheim, Calif.; one sister, Iva Caldwell of Benton; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Atkinson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Billy Bosley officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Smoke, A.C. Cunningham, Chuck Pennington, Pete Canada, Michael Smoke and Eddie Canada.

Honorary pallbearer is Hot Spring County Health Department Hospice.

Burial will be in Damascus cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or Damascus cemetery Fund.

Allen Miller
BENTON - Allen Miller, 85, of Benton died Wednesday April 11, 2001.

Born Jan. 2, 1916, in Cortez, Colo., to Charley and Eva Miller, he worked at Reynolds Metals Co. He was predeceased by three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Ema Jean Miller of Benton; seven sons, Allen B. Miller of San Francisco, John H. Miller of Hot Springs, Donald G. Miller, Thomas H. Miller, Bobby R. Miller and Jacky L. Miller all of Benton, and Charles W. Miller of Bryant; one brother, Charley Miller of Benton; two sisters, Anna Parsons of Siloam Springs and Ruth Stowell of San Jose, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ashby Funeral Home chapel with Brother Keith Huling officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Rachel F. Morris
Rachel Faye Morris, 67, of Hot Springs died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in a local hospital.

Born Feb. 6, 1934, at Hot Springs, she was a homemaker and Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Dilmon Morris of Hot Springs; two sons, Robby Breshears of Hot Springs and Tommy Breshears; one daughter, Brenda Miller of Hot Springs; one brother, Jerry White; two sisters, Gerdie White and Judy Phillips, both of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Robert Garner, Stoney Garner and Kevin Miller; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Hollywd cemetery.

Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Corene S. Nichols
STOREY - Corene S. Nichols, 79, of Storey died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in a Hot Springs hospital.

Born Oct. 20, 1921, in Storey to J.W. and Lou Southard Stachey, she was a department store clerk; housewife; and member of Storey Church of God. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Freeman Nichols of Storey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Ann Nichols of Flower Mound, Texas, and Terry and Theresa Nichols of Little Elm, Texas; one sister, Geneva Irons of Mount Ida; seven grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Muddy Creek Church of God with Brothers Ronnie Noles and Roger Harper officiating.

Pallbearers will be J.W. Abbott, Tim Davis, Lon Nichols, Norman Nichols, Kyle Abbott and Howard Roland.

Burial will be in Reed cemetery.

Arrangements are by Thornton Funeral Home, Mount Ida.

Emerson J. Short
MOUNT IDA - Emerson J. 'E.J.' Short, 68, of Mount Ida, died Thursday April 12, 2001.

Born Feb. 15, 1933, at Soper, Okla., to A.J. and Juanita Elizabeth Tom Short, he served as alderman for Mount Ida city council; was a retired Gibson Supersave manager; Korean War veteran; and member of Assembly of God Church. He was predeceased by one son, Jeremy Short.

Survivors include his wife, Vi Dillard Short of Mount Ida; eight sons, Rickey J. Short, Ray Short and Rodney Short, all of Eagletown, Okla., Randall Short of McCaskill, Robert Short of Quincy, Ill., Gary D. Stovall and Leon Stovall, both of Pencil Bluff, and Donnie Stovall of Mount Ida; three daughters, Ramona Compton of Broken Bow, Okla., Ranell Walker of Muncie, Ind., and Bonnie Gulick of Mount Ida; 31 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother of DeQueen; six brothers, James C. Short of Horatio, Kermit Short of Gold Beach, Ore., Thomas Short of DeQueen, Nick Short and Kenneth Short, both of Gillham, and Edmond Short of Dierks; one sister, Maggie Ruth Alsobrk of Horatio; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pencil Bluff cemetery with the Revs. Charles Castell and Art Parker officiating.

Pallbearers will be Allen James, Greg Black, Zane Wallace, Brian Fryar, Mark Plyler and Tommy Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are L.J. Warneke, Bill Ed McKinney, Johnny Mre and Doc Plyler.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montgomery County Library.

Marion Todd
VISALIA, Calif. - Marion 'Duell' Todd, 76, of Visalia, Calif., died Friday, April 6, 2001.

Born March, 4, 1925, in Malvern, to Marion and Ida Lee Todd, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, farm implement parts clerk, volunteer for the Farm Show and Antique Farm Show, both in Tulare, Calif., and Senior Gleaners, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Tulare, American Legion in Corcoran, Seqouia Square Dance 8 Club, and Grace Community Church and associated with Fd Link. He was predeceased by his four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Carlyn “Joyce” Todd of Visalia; five sons, Gary Lee Todd of Shelton, Wash., Daniel Bruce Todd of Port Orchard, Wash., Everette Earl Todd of Union, Wash., Ralph Edward Todd of Clallam Bay, Ore., and Michael Duell Todd of McKenzie Bridge, Ore.; one daughter, Sheila Karen Stumbaugh of Lemre, Calif.; his mother of Mount Ida; four brothers, Gary E. Todd of Kennedale, Texas, Paul Dean Todd of Las Vegas, Melvin Roy Todd of Granberry, Texas, and Teddy Lee Todd of Mount Ida; two sisters, Joyce Smith of Joplin and Mary Leona Alldredge of Winterhaven, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Big Creek cemetery, Malvern, with Brother Paul Burke officiating.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to American Red Cross Bld Bank.

Arrangements are by Atkinson Funeral Home, Malvern.
