Thomas L. Endsley
ARKADELPHIA - Thomas L. Endsley, 86, of Arkadelphia died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in an Arkadelphia hospital.

Born Jan. 25, 1915, at Coles County, Ill., to William "Mack" and Minnie Harwd Endsley, he was a teacher, administrator, Methodist, U.S. Army World War II veteran and received a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois. He was predeceased by two wives, Mary Catherine Smith Endsley and Kathryn Swickard Endsley.

Survivors include one daughter, Anita Holt of Redondo Beach, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Paula Leming of Arkadelphia; two brothers, Carroll Endsley of Decatur, Ill., and Norman Endsley of Bartonville, Ill.; and three granddaughters, Mary Kathryn Holt, Jill M. Holt and Sarah Kathryn Leming.

There will be no local service.

The memorial service and burial will be in Charleston, Ill.

Memorials may be made to Henderson State University Foundation, 1100 Henderson St., Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Arrangements are by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Billye J. Hughes-Pillard
ARKADELPHIA - Billye Jean Hughes-Pillard, 70, of Arkadelphia died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in an Arkadelphia nursing home.

Born March 14, 1931, at Hollywd to Hancel and AB Cash Hughes, she received a bachelor's degree from Henderson State University, was a home economics teacher, realtor and member of Third Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Wes Wingfield of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Jill Halpern of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Chandler Halpern and Grace Olivia Halpern.

The service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Arrangements are by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Peter Kloppenburg
Peter Kloppenburg, 88, of Hot Springs died Wednesday, June 13, 2001.

Born Dec. 23, 1912, at Davenport, Iowa, he was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was predeceased by one sister, Elizabeth Kell.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gertrude Kloppenburg of Hot Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and David Lagerlof of Hot Springs Village and Kay Kloppenburg and Tim Butterworth of Chesterfield, N.H.; and three grandsons, Mark Lagerlof, Todd Lagerlof and Lateef Jackson.

The body will be cremated.

Etta S. Riddle
Etta Sims Riddle, 95, of Hot Springs died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in a local hospital.

Born Nov. 7, 1905, at Emmett, Texas, she was a member of Pullman Heights United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Tobe Riddle.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Dee and Bobby Hecke and Janice Queen, all of Hot Springs, and Linda and Tom Conly of Port Lavaca, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald J. and Lynn Riddle of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

The service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Gross Funeral Home chapel with Chaplain Rose Poag officiating.

Pallbearers will be Robby F. Hecke, George L. Queen, Jay Conly, Chris Conly, Todd Conly and Randy Hall.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. George P. Queen, Daniel L. and Jan Hecke, Ron and Kay Lynn Harris, Mike and Valerie Bearden, Paula and Mike Riley, Mike and Robin Marco, Karen Mourad, Lori Soutee, Donna Roberts, Darla Hall, Becky Conly, Kevan Queen, St. Joseph's Regional Health Center Advance Care Unit and third flr nurses and staff, Quality Care Nursing Center, Bill Medcalf and Vickie Loris.

Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Pullman Heights United Methodist Church.

Norman V. Sloan
The service for Norman Virgle Sloan, 71, of Hot Springs who died Monday, June 11, 2001, will 2 p.m. today in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Davis officiating.

Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and nephews.

Burial will be in Lowe cemetery, Royal.

Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Mandy I. Stembridge
MALVERN - Mandy Isabell Stembridge, 97, of Malvern died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in a Malvern nursing home.

The service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Atkinson Funeral Home chapel.

Burial will be in Antioch cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today.

The family will be at the home of Dorothy and William Carr, Highway 84.

Darrell W. Ballowe
Darrell William "Dally" Ballowe, 53, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in a Little Rock hospital.

Born Aug. 7, 1947, at Hot Springs, he was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, sergeant in Special Forces and Purple Heart recipient. He was predeceased by his father, James F. Ballowe.

Survivors include his mother, Iva Ballowe of Hot Springs; one daughter, Carey Gates of Hot Springs; two sons, Darren Ballowe of Fordyce and Terry Ballowe of Hot Springs; four grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carol Brke and Patricia and C.J. Young, all of Hot Springs; and four brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Augusta Ballowe of El Centro, Calif., Greg and Debbie Ballowe of Fayetteville, Randy Ballowe of Hot Springs and Richard Ballowe of Oklahoma.

The memorial service will be held later by his brothers and sister of H.H. Cycle, 3188 Timberlake Road, Royal, AR 71968.

Jasmine K. Brown
Jasmine Keyera Brown, infant, of Hot Springs died Sunday, July 29, 2001.

She was born July 6, 2001.

Survivors include her mother, Kristie Honey of Hot Springs; her father, Jasmas Brown of Grambling, La.; her grandparents, Geneva Honey and Michael Easter, both of Hot Springs, and Lorrane Lewis and Derrick Lewis, both of Grambling; and her great-grandparents, Fred and Pearlie Honey of Mountain Pine.

The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Friendship cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Howard officiating.

Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.

The family will be at 312 Wdlawn.

Arrangements are by Brandon's Mortuary.

Melvin Cogburn
FANCY HILL - The service for Melvin Cogburn, 87, of Fancy Hill who died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, will be 10 a.m. Friday in Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel with Brother Joe Cogburn officiating.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Griffith, Harvey Cogburn, Brent Vaughn, Jared Vaughn, Mindy Griffith and Marvin Wolfenbarger.

Burial will be in Fancy Hill cemetery.

Oma V. Cox
ARKADELPHIA - Oma Ved Cox, 82, of Arkadelphia died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001.

Born Aug. 25, 1918, to G.O. and Beulah Nelson Hawkins, she was past president of Arkansas Veterinary Medical Auxiliary, former state revenue inspector for Clark County and member of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church in Donaldson. She was predeceased by one brother, Buford Hawkins.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Joe E. Cox of Arkadelphia; one daughter, Jo Elaine Cox of Arkadelphia; and two brothers, Quinton Hawkins of Paris, Texas, and Byrd Hawkins of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

The service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home chapel with Elder Sonny Phelan officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bill Campbell, Bud Reeder, Kenny Scott, Buford Newman, Tim Phelan and Paul Quattlebaum.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Clark County Cat Shelter Fund or Harmony Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 61, Donaldson, AR 71941.
