Albert Neeley

NEWPORT -- Albert Neeley, 72, of Newport died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006.

He was born June 13, 1933, the son of Richard and Edna Mae Neeley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Rushing Neeley, a brother and a sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Neeley of Newport; two sons, James Dale Neeley of Tuckerman and Thomas Albert Neeley of Texarkana; a brother; a sister; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Watson Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Jackson's Funeral Home of Newport.

Mildred Virginia Waller

TRUMANN -- Mildred Virginia Waller, 85, of 304 Gum St. in Trumann died Saturday at the family residence.

Mrs. Waller was born in Jonesboro and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a retired factory and café worker and of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Waller was preceded in death by her husband, William Monroe "Bill" Waller; one son, Bobby Lee Purcell; one daughter, Nancy Louise Purcell Thompson; two sisters; and her parents, Rufus and Sylvia Howard Cooper.

Survivors include two sisters, Wanda Lee Warden of Tunica, Miss., and Cliffia Rutherford of Bay; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner, with the Rev. Leon Minick officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Melva Jo Williams

PARAGOULD -- Melva Jo Williams, 72, of Paragould died Sunday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was retired from food service and driving a bus at Oak Grove School. Melva was a member of Harvest Time Church at Gainesville.

She is survived by five nieces, Corda Mae Seal and Virginia Vaughn of Piggott, Mildred Rogers and Zatta Mouser of Rector and Wava Rogers of Paragould; two nephews, Sam Rogers of Pocahontas and Curtis Rogers of Beebe; a stepdaughter, Jenny Garner of Paragould; six step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heath Colonial Chapel, with the Revs. Danny Webb and Len Bunting officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Betty Jean Bornhoft

WEINER -- Betty Jean Bornhoft, 69, died Sunday, Jan. 1, at UAMS in Little Rock.

Born at Harrisburg, she was a registered nurse at St. Bernard's Medical Center, St. Bernard's Home Health and Greenleaf, and a member of Weiner Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Overton of Bryant and Cheryl Webb of Weiner; two brothers, Donald Clark of Fisher and Bill Clark of California; two sisters, Bobbie Bruce of Powhatan and Barbara Craddock of Utah; five grandchildren, Renee Cronin, Jason Webb and Jessica Webb, all of Weiner, and Jennifer Simpson and Stephanie Brown, both of Bryant; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Cronin, Skyler Cronin, Maddy Webb and Bailey Webb, all of Weiner, and Spencer Jones of Forrest City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, S.J. Bornhoft, and her parents, Luther and Maxine Clark.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Weiner Baptist Church with Jeff Junyor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. today at the church.

Pallbearers will include Don Webb, Donald Clark, Tyler Cronin, Alton Overton, Brent Lisko and Jason Webb.

Memorials may be made to the Weiner Volunteer Fire Department, Weiner Baptist Church, or the Lupus Foundation of America, P.O. Box 631047, Baltimore, Md. 21263-1047.

Clifford Harry Collar Sr.

PARAGOULD -- Clifford Harry Collar Sr., 88, of Paragould died Monday, Jan. 2, at his residence.

Born Feb. 15, 1917, at Eakly, Caddo County, Okla., Mr. Collar had been a resident of Greene County since 1935. He was a member of Walcott Baptist Church and served as a member of the Greene County Tech School Board from 1959-1969. He was among the first rice farmers in Greene County and pioneered rice farming techniques during the early 1950s.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Nell Marie Lyon of St. Louis, Sandra Gayle and Dr. Everett Rogers, Shirley Jean and David Wilson, and Debra Lynn and Kenny Newberry, all of Paragould. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Alvin Collar of Little Rock; grandchildren and spouses, Jeffrey and Michelle Lyon of New Orleans, Michelle and Mark Drumbl of Lexington, Va., Michael and Leigh Rogers of Paragould, Brian and Chandra Rogers of Bella Vista, Casey and Devon Rogers of Paragould, Kristen and Jennifer Boyd of Oklahoma City, and Kelsey Wilson, Eric Newberry, and Jeremy Newberry, all of Paragould; and by great-grandchildren, Killian Lyon, Jenna Rogers and Korinah Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Josef Collar Jr. and Grace May Piersol Collar; his wife, Wilma Ednas Noles Collar; two infant sons, Clifford Harry Collar Jr. and Jackie Wayne Collar; three brothers, Grant Harold Collar Sr., Raymond Leroy Collar, and Olive Carl Collar; and by five sisters, Hazel Ernestine Blucker Albin, Esther Grace Webb, Velma Onita Englert, Agnes Ina Collar and Clara Elizabeth Collar.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today in the Mitchell Funeral Home at Paragould.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Walcott Baptist Church with Rudy Ring and L.R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Mangrum, Bill Mangrum, Larry Mangrum, Glen Mangrum and J.H. Burton.

Joanne Thompson Cox

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Joanne Thompson Cox, 72, of Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away Jan. 2 in Scottsdale.

She was united in marriage to Jimmy Mack Cox on Aug. 12, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1994.

She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Ann Smith and Sarah Lynn Carpenter; two sons, Richard Mack Cox and James Steven Cox; five grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Alice Elizabeth Dortch

GRANITE BAY, Calif. -- Alice Elizabeth Dortch, age 90, of Granite Bay, Calif., died Thursday, Dec. 29, at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Roseville, Calif.

Mrs. Dortch was born March 6, 1915, in Thayer, Mo., to the late William D. and Sara Elizabeth Huff Wooldridge. She was married March 19, 1932, to Roy A. Dortch, who also preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jim Wooldridge; two half-brothers, Lloyd Smith and Clarence Smith; and three half-sisters, Hallie Ward, Esther Gardener and Clessie Watson.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Mozelle Dortch of Paragould and Randal and Sharon Dortch of Lancaster, Ohio; two daughters and son-in-law, Mae Kellim of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Ima and Robert Lyles of Granite Bay, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Chip Dortch, Kim Varvil, Jim Kellim, Mike Kellim, Tom Dortch, Pamela Anderson, Teresa Sundstrom and Steven Lyles; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a longtime member of the Rock Springs Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with the Rev. James Henry Dortch officiating.

Burial will be at the Rock Springs Cemetery in Knob under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Jim Kellim, Mike Kellim, Steven Lyles, Josh Noel, Zach Noel and Cody Noel.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Rock Springs Cemetery Fund.

Ruby Mae Green

MARKED TREE -- Ruby Mae Green, age 71, of Marked Tree died Jan. 1 of kidney failure in St. Bernard's Medical Center at Jonesboro. Born Jan. 30, 1934, at Centerville, Tenn., she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Green of Joiner; three daughters, Jo Ann Dorris of Tyronza, Sue Ryals of Braggs, Okla., and Linda "Gail" Green of Joiner; one son, Steve Green of Joiner; seven sisters, Effie Cooley of Lepanto, Mamie Bailey of Decatur, Ill. and Betty Robinson, Susie Thompson, Amy Stacey, Hazel Allen, and Janice Rock, all of Amory, Miss.; two brothers, Terry Cates of Amory, Miss., and Larry Cates of Smithville, Miss.; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Joe Green.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wilson Funeral Home at Osceola with Patrick Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Bassett Cemetery at Bassett.

Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola is in charge of arrangements.

Harry Thomas Greene

WYNNE -- Harry Thomas Greene, 81, of Wynne died Jan. 1.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Greene and Fannie Rhodes Greene, six brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Smith Greene of Wynne; daughter, Peggy Collins of Oklahoma City; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He served his country during World War II, was a lineman for A P & L for more than 30 years and a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Kernodle Funeral Home with burial at Crosslawn Cemetery in Wynne.
