GENE BAKER, 79

Gene Baker, 79, of Antioch, died March 4, 2006. He was a retired constable for Antioch Township.
He is survived by his son, Billy and wife Teresa Baker of Beebe; his daughter, Jamie and husband Bobby Brown of Antioch; five grandchildren, Joshua Hackler, Christopher Hackler, Madison Brown, Sean Henderson and Sarah Baker; one great-grandchild, Nathan Lovell; four brothers, Doug Baker and Wayne Baker, both of Cabot, J. D. Baker and W. C. Baker, both of Beebe; two sisters, Anne Schultz of Ohio and Evelyn Blake Hodges of Kensett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and a sister, Lois Baker.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Antioch cemetery.

VERNIE MCEUEN, 92

Vernie Haynie McEuen, 92, of Beebe, was born Nov. 26, 1913, at McRae, (16th Section) to Samuel and Susie Evans Haynie, and she died March 6, 2006.
She was Past Worthy Matron of Forrest Park Chapter of Eastern Star in Little Rock, and a delegate to Delaware in 1960.
She was a 50 member of Eastern Star in 2004, was active in Railroad Engineers Wives Club for many years, and was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church in Beebe.
She was always a very loving mother, an excellent cook, and was known for the wonderful pies that she baked. She loved to fish, and not too many years ago raised a huge garden.
She is survived by two sons, Ray McEuen, Jr. and wife Sue, and James M. McEuen and wife Donna, all of Beebe; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Powell of Escondido, Calif.; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray McEuen, Sr. who was a retired engineer for Missouri Pacific Railroad, after almost 70 years of marriage; also, her parents, one brother, two sisters and one grandson.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home. Burial will be in Weir cemetery. Rev. Tommy Miller will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Union Valley Baptist Church, 932 Hwy. 64 West, Beebe, Ark., 72012.

JAMES REAVES, 76

James W. 'J.W.' Reaves, 76, of Beebe, was born Nov. 3, 1929, to Issac E. and Mary Ethel Island Reaves. He went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2006.
He retired from Arkansas Best Freight System after 38 years of service.
He served four years in the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Auxiliary and then worked as the animal control officer for the city of Beebe for seven years.
He was a member of Harrison Chapel Church at Beebe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Syble Reaves; two sons, Randy Reaves and wife Sandy of Cabot and David Reaves and wife Nancy of Beebe; two daughters, Vicky Reed of Cabot and Holly Reaves Dugger of Searcy; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Naomi Jenkins of Beebe and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved pets and best friends, Teddy and Charlie.
J.W. sincerely loved his family as well as dogs and all animals. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, woodworking, gardening and decorating for Christmas.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens at Beebe.

MATTHEW WHITLEY, 27

Matthew Dallas Whitley, 27, of Beebe, died Feb. 23, 2006. He had attended ASU Beebe. He is survived by his parents, Rick and Ann Whitley; his brother, Michael Whitley, all of Beebe; grandparents, John and Nancy Whitley of Benton; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services were Tuesday, at Westbrook Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Lions World Services for the Blind, 2811 Fair Park Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72204.

MILTON PRUITT, 81

Milton L. Pruitt of Antioch, born in 1924 at Antioch to Charlie and Mamie McCall Pruitt. He died Feb. 26, 2006, at the age of 81. Milton was an Army veteran of World War II.
He served in Germany and was awarded three Bronze Stars for service. He was also a retired dairy farmer.
Milton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vera Maxine Pruitt; two sons, Bill Pruitt and wife Linda of Searcy and Bobby Pruitt and wife Kim of Beebe; six grandchildren, Jason, Brook and Bryce Pruitt, Amy Pruitt McDuffie, Tisha Hamilton and Robby Boland; two great-granddaughters, Tori McDuffie and McKenna Hamilton.
Survivors also include a sister, Mildred Secrest of Pasadena, Texas and a sister-in-law, Aline Pruitt of Beebe and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Delton, Helen, Jack and Russell Pruitt and Christine Wisdom.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Community Church at Antioch in White County. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery.

JIMANNA KORNEGAY, 90

Jimanna Kornegay, 90, of Jacksonville, died April 17, 2006 at Rebsamen Medical Center. Born April 26, 1915, in Oktibbeha County, Miss., she was a daughter of the late James Robert and Ruby A. McIntosh Ferguson.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alton Kornegay; two sisters, Gussie Mae Hall and Florence Coleman; and a brother, Hugh Ferguson.
A devout Christian, she and her husband were charter members of Marshall Road Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed participating in the choir and the senior group activities. They helped organize the MAC group (making age count).
was always a believer and contributor of the Lottie Moon Offering. Jimanna enjoyed fishing and playing cards with friends and family.
She belonged to the garden club, the Homemakers Extension Club and also worked as a poll worker.
Survivors include her two daughters, Colleen Van Nostrand, and Mary Odell and husband Phillip Ford; grandchildren, Karen Wisniewski, Robert Stephen Van Nostrand and Kenneth Scott Ford; eight great-grandchildren, Bill Kennedy, Charleen and Jake Van Nostrand, Kenneth, Blake, Catherine and Peter Ford and Meagan Wisniewski; two brothers, C.R. Ferguson, Paul Cloyce Ferguson; and a sister Ruth Betts Vickers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Moore’s Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville, with Rev. John Sammons and Rev. Cliff Hutchins officiating.
Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marshall Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 821 Marshall Road, Jacksonville, Ark., 72076 or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

MARILYN CASH, 73

Marilyn M. Lester Cash, 73, of Modesto, Calif., and a native of Santa Maria, Calif., died April 14, 2006 at her home.
She was born April 20, 1932.
She is retired from Tri Valley Growers and was formerly employed by the Sharp Army Depot.
She was a member of Moose Lodge Women’s Auxiliary and the fraternal Order of Eagles Women’s Auxiliary as well as a volunteer at Doctors Medical Center with the auxiliary.
She is survived by her children Sandra Cash of Modesto, Calif., and Johnette Smith of Dublin, Texas; brother James Lester of Antioch; sisters Joyce Usiak of Modesto, Calif., and Carolyn Piper of Powder Springs, Ga., and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Cash.
Funeral services were held April 19 at Colonial Chapel-Franklin & Downs.
Memorials may be sent to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, Calif., 95356. Arrangements by Colonial Chapel-Franklin and Downs in California.

M.J. ADAMS, 65

M.J. 'Knockout' Adams, born Dec. 31, 1940, died April 16, 2006. He was a member of Palm Street Church of Christ, Lonoke, a graduate of Jacksonville High School and was a retired self-employed building contractor.
In earlier years he built a 10-acre subdivision in Lonoke County.
He was an avid hunter with many trophies to attest to his skills. He had a log cabin in Stone County where he spent a large portion of his time during the winter and summer. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren at the cabin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Louise Adams; a son, Michael J. Adams of Cabot and a baby sister.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kathleen Chapman Adams; two daughters, Robin and hsuband Jimmy Prince and Karen Adams; seven grandchildren, Bailie and Marlie Prince, Jared, Tyler and Alex Adams, all of Jacksonville, Nolan and Brandon Hidalgo of S.C.; one brother, Don and wife Kaye Adams of Greers Ferry; two sisters, Patty and husband Carl Peters of Jacksonville and Barbara Hiner of Benton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel with Interment in Bayou Meto cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
Great appreciation to the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice and St. Vincent’s Family Clinic in Jacksonville. Memorials can be made to www.pancan.org to aid in research for a cure of pancreatic cancer.

KENT MCDONALD, 13

Kent Edward McDonald, Jr., 13 of Beebe, died April 17, 2006. Kent, better known as Kentster to many, was a funny, loving, happy-go-lucky 13-year-old who attended Beebe Junior High School.
Kentster was loved and adored by all who knew him because of his gift of compassion for others before himself.
He filled his days with skateboarding, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers with cousins and friends, and most of all, looking out for his little sister, Nikki.
Those who knew Kentster were truly blessed to have known such a wonderful person and he will be missed tremendously; however, we know he is with his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his grandparents, Wayne and Shirley McDonald of Beebe, and Janett Tazelaar of Little Rock; parents, Kent and Tammy McDonald of Beebe; one sister, Nikki McDonald of Beebe; and four cousins, Chris Cummings of Beebe, Brandi Bartlett and husband Mike of Jacksonville, Eric and Sydney Rowell of Beebe.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Weir cemetery.
