Jerry Clebern Brown

POCAHONTAS -- Jerry Clebern Brown, 62, died Saturday at his home.

His father, Clebern Brown, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Velma Jane Brown; his mother, Mary Brown of Pocahontas; a sister, Mary Ann Balk of Oklahoma; a brother, Doug Brown of High Ridge, Mo.; a son, Dwight "PorkChop" Brown of Success; two daughters, Janet Brown of Orlando, Fla., and Carla Brown-Pratt of Pocahontas; and a granddaughter, Bailey Brown-Pratt of Pocahontas.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McNabb Funeral Home, with William Richmond officiating. Interment will follow in Chesser Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at McNabb Funeral Home.

Edna Clark Mills

BATESVILLE -- Edna Clark Mills, 91, of Batesville died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Batesville.

She was born July 21, 1914, at Corinth, Miss., to James Edward and Sara Marinde Cummins Clark. She retired from Arkansas Poultry in Batesville, worked for Clark's Army Navy Store in Batesville for several years and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Qualls Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Batesville. Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Service of Batesville.

Juanita Shawver Rainey

JONESBORO -- Juanita Shawver Rainey, 87, of Jonesboro, formerly of Heafer, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Roller-Citizens Chapel with interment following in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery at Marion.

Mrs. Rainey, a homemaker, was a member of Marked Tree First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E. C. Pap Rainey; daughter, Molly Ann Rainey; and her parents, Taylor Roy and Grace Milton Shawver.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vanita and Nelson Catalina of Jonesboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Nancy Grobmyer of Forrest City; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family requests any memorials go to the House of Hope in Brazil, Ind.

Martha Laird Wall

JONESBORO -- Martha Laird Wall of Jonesboro died early Sunday morning at St. Bernard's Medical Center. She is the widow of Bryan Wall.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Ruby Mae Andrews

BROOKLAND -- Ruby Mae Andrews was born on Sept. 27, 1937, and went to heaven on Jan. 9, 2006, at 8:10 p.m. at St. Bernard's Medical Center at the age of 68. She was born in Lake City and had lived most of her lifetime in the Brookland area. She was of the Church of Christ belief. She retired from Colson Caster Corp. and worked there from Oct. 2, 1967, until April 12, 1996, for 2912 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Don Andrews; one son, Larry Don Ray Andrews; three brothers, Arty Woodward, George Woodward, and Walter Woodward; and two sisters, Brenda and Earnestine Biggers.

Ruby is survived by eight children, Sue Lamars and her husband Charles of Goobertown, Ernie Randel of Brookland, Gary Randel and his wife Sharon, Darlene Brandon and her husband Jesse, and Terrie-Ann Randel, all of Jonesboro, Patty Lane of Dixie, George Andrews of Vanzant, Mo., Michael Andrews and his wife Misty of Heber Springs; five sisters, Earnestine Mullen of Newark, Texas, Joyce Childres of Van Buren, Barbara Hatfield of Bonanza, Glenda Sue Nichols of Fort Smith and Niniadale Narty of Illinois; brothers, Toney Biggers of Blue Mound, Texas, Henry Bearce of Charleston, Deamos Woodward of Farmington; 24 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Leonard Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery in the Finch community near Paragould.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Teddy Brandon, Donny Armstrong, Jason Lammers, Blake Randel, Jerry Moore, John Yarbro and James Shirley.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.

Clifton Barber

JONESBORO -- Clifton Barber, 92, of Jonesboro died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at St. Elizabeth's in Jonesboro.

He was born in Jamestown and lived in the Jonesboro area all his life. He was the food service supervisor at Arkansas State University and a member of Nettleton Baptist Church.

He was a Master Mason and a Past Worshipful Master at the Lake City Lodge. He was a master gardener and had been a Sunday school teacher at Lake City Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ellen Barber; one son, Jim Barber; and one daughter, Jan McKinney.

Survivors include his wife, Velores Barber of the home; a daughter, Donna Watkins of Jonesboro; grandchildren, David McKinney, Traci Smith, and Robyn Beavers, all of Jonesboro, Blake Barber of Lake City, Scott Watkins of Salem, Karen Underwood of Wichita Falls, Texas, Bart Barber of Farmersville, Texas, and Ashley Warrick of Dallas; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bart Barber and David McKinney officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

The Nettleton Baptist Church men's Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

A graveside committal service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Egner Cemetery near Salado.

For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family requests you please consider the Cancer Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Emerson Memorial Chapel.

Jimmie D. Blunk

TRUMANN -- Jimmie D. Blunk, 66, of Trumann died Monday at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born in Corning and had lived in Trumann for the past 20 years. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, a former Trumann police officer, a deputy for the Poinsett County Sheriff's Department and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Owens; and his parents, James and Evelyn Nesbit Blunk.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Blunk of the home; three daughters, Lawanna Kay Blunk, Loretta Lunsford and Leanna Brinson, all of Corning, a brother, Larry M. Blunk of Trumann; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday morning in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with the Rev. Bill Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmie Lunsford, Charles Ross Lunsford and Adam Anderson.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. tonight at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.

Mary Ellen Davis

ASH FLAT -- Mary Ellen Davis, 70, of Ash Flat, formerly of the Monette area, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, in White River Medical Center at Batesville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, with Gregg Funeral Home of Monette in charge.

Millie May Dorton

JONESBORO -- Millie May Dorton, 88, of Jonesboro died Monday, Jan. 9, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Jonesboro, she lived here all her life. She was retired from Frolic Footwear and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, T.W. Dorton of the home; a daughter, Wilma Smith of Jonesboro; a brother, Virgil McNatt of Monette; a sister, Willadean Dunn of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Debra Young of Jonesboro and Roanne Worsham of Lepanto; five great-grandchildren, Stacia Gallion of Marked Tree, Kevin Young of Jonesboro and Cara Pilgrim, Rachel Worsham and Amelia Worsham, all of Lepanto; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ethan Gallion and Chaney Gallion, both of Marked Tree.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Geraldine Dorton; a granddaughter, Becky Smith; and six brothers.

Active pallbearers will be Lonnie McNatt, Alvin McNatt, Tim Albert, Josh Gallion, Jeff Worsham and Kevin Young. Honorary pallbearer will be Homer Coward.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Leonard Lingenfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Ransome Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday at the funeral home.

Hardy Garrison

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Hardy Garrison, 85, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, Jan. 8, at Sharp Nursing Home in Sidney. He was born Aug. 16, 1920, at Cushman to Clarence W. and Minnie F. Satterwhite Garrison.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Providence Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant with Jessie McDaniel and Charles McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 10 miles west of Cave City. Arrangements are by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
