Bobby Ray Holland

RAVENDEN -- Bobby Ray Holland, 73, died Sunday in Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; one son, Charles Holland of Benton; one daughter, Carolyn Florez of Bakersfield, Calif.; two stepsons, Jerry Stephens of Millstadt, Ill., and Mike Stephens of Belleville, Ill.; stepdaughter, Paula McLean of Polk City, Fla.; and a sister, Barbara Jones of Ravenden.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with interment following in Dail Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at McNabb's.

Linda Jones

NEWPORT -- Mrs. Linda Jones, 53, of Newport lost her life in an accident along with her mother, Ruby Rice, on Monday.

She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew "Red" Rice.

Mrs. Rice is survived by her husband, David Jones of Newport; two sons, D.J. Jones and Justin Jones, both of Missouri; two daughters, Milissa Wheeler of Missouri and Jennifer Plummer of Newport; a brother, Henry Rice of Bradford; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Interment will be in Coffeyville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today.

Myrtle Elizabeth Ketchum

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Myrtle Elizabeth Rittenberry Ketchum, 95, of Claremont, Calif., died Dec. 29 in Country Oaks Care Center at Pomona, Calif.

Born in southern Illinois, she moved to Lake City at the age of 16. She was married to Ardell Ketchum from Lake City at the age of 17. She moved to LaVerne, Calif., in 1943 and was employed by Vortox Co. in Claremont for almost 30 years. She was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Survivors include a grandson, William E. Ketchum and his wife Candy of Claremont; two great-granddaughters, Valerie Lynn Bock-Pinero of Alta Loma, Calif., and Christina Marie Nolan Howard of Claremont; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Ketchum, and a son, Billy Jack.

There will be a private burial in the Nettleton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30-12:30 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Ruby Rice

NEWPORT -- Mrs. Ruby Rice, 72, of Newport lost her life in an accident along with her daughter, Linda Jones, on Monday.

She was born June 10, 1933.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew "Red" Rice; her father, Luther Baker; mother and stepfather, Jewel and Fred Courtney; two brothers; and one sister.

Mrs. Rice is survived by one son, Henry Veta Rice of Bradford; one son-in-law, David Jones of Newport; four brothers; one sister; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Coffeyville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today.

Arrangements are by Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Mary Florence Ruff

MAYNARD -- Mary Florence Ruff, 78, died Monday in Randolph County Medical Center. She was a beautician and a veteran of World War II.

Her husband, Glenn Ruff, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Wilbanks of Alexander; three granddaughters, Terri Knowlton, Mary Moore, and Debra Stafford; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with interment following in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. this evening at McNabb's.

Francis Jeanette Smith

SAN ANTONIO -- Francis Jeanette Smith, 83, of San Antonio, formerly of Monette, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, in St. Luke's Baptist Hospital at San Antonio.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, with Gregg Funeral Home of Monette in charge.

Jerry Don Stevens

JONESBORO -- Jerry Don Stevens, 47, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Stevens of Ash Flat; sons, Jeremy, Michael, and Andrew Stevens of Ash Flat; daughters, Savannah and Brittney Stevens of Ash Flat; brothers, Gary Stevens of Cash, Danny Stevens of Ash Flat, and Rocky Stevens of Swifton; sisters, Dianna Lewis of Ash Flat and Brenda Hively, Teresa Glidewell, and Tammy Stites, all of Jonesboro; his mother, Grace Stevens of Cash; and five grandchildren.

All services will be private.

Juanita Taylor

MAMMOTH SPRING -- Services for Juanita Taylor, 84, of Mammoth Spring will be held at 2 p.m. today in Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer, Mo. with Mike Stone officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Mammoth Spring.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Paula Taylor of Mammoth Spring; two daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Larry Patton of Bono, and Wanda and Bobby Wood of Mammoth Spring; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Taylor of Yakima, Wash.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Lorene Erwin of Prescott, Ariz., and Velma Sutherland of Cherokee Village.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Kenneth Taylor, and five brothers.

Martha Laird Wall

JONESBORO -- Martha Laird Wall, 87, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

A descendant of pioneer Clay County families, she was born in Jonesboro, where she graduated from Jonesboro High School. She was a 1940 graduate of Duke University, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

She devoted her life to her family and friends and volunteered her time and abilities to her community. As a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, she taught Sunday school, was youth division superintendent, served as president of the Women's Society of Christian Service of First Methodist, was president of the district WSCS, served on the church's administrative board as chair of several committees, and was a member of the board of trustees for the church. She served on the board of the Wesley Foundation at Arkansas State University. She was a charter member, the first president, and life member of the Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary. She served on the board and as joint chairwoman of the Foundation of the Arts. She was president of Friends of the Forum. She was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader. She served on the boards of the Jonesboro Craighead County Public Library and the Council for International Visitors. She received a citation from ASU for fund-raising for the university through its Community Development Council. She was an active member and president of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a member of the Northeast Arkansas Symphony Guild, and the American Association of University Women. She was chairwoman of the Craighead County Arkansas Sesquicentennial Celebration.

She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile, St. Bernard's Hospital Auxiliary, Helping Neighbors Food Pantry, and for the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Wall Trimarchi of Jonesboro and Janet Wall Hendricks of Sherman Oaks, Calif., three grandchildren, Stephanie Trimarchi Giesecke of Washington, D.C., Felicia Trimarchi Hart of Calgary, Canada, and Kyle Bryant Hendricks of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Bryant Wall; her parents, Thomas Burgess Laird II and Maude Mobley Laird; and two brothers, Thomas Burgess Laird III and Knight Laird.

A graveside committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Rex Dickey officiating. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro with the Rev. Rex Dickey officiating. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sara Love, Rosalee Grisham, Anita Parker, Betty Sloan, Jerri Kimmell, Doreen and Jack Deacon, Betty Grace and Frank Snellgrove, Joyce Williams and the members of P.E.O.

Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, the Jonesboro Craighead County Library, or the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.

Doulph G.B. Ward

FLIPPIN -- Doulph Ward, 75, of Flippin died Jan. 2 at Twin Lakes Nursing Center. Born Jan. 18, 1930, in Trumann, he moved to Yellville 19 years ago. He was a retired service station attendant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Margarite Smith Ward.

Survivors include his son, Rick Ward of Springdale; brother, Troy Ward of Redding, Calif.; and sisters, Evelyn Branlett of Chireno, Texas, and Virginia Qualls of Sheridan.

Private burial will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery. No funeral services or visitation is planned.
