Phylis Myrl Hall

JONESBORO -- Phylis Myrl Hall, age 75, of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006.

Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Lenard Hall; her parents; her daughter, Mrs. Myrl Wingo; a brother and four sisters.

Mrs. Hall is survived by several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Interment will be in the Worley Cemetery under the direction of the Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Tiffeny LaVivian Jones

MIDDLETON, Tenn. -- Ms. Tiffeny LaVivian Jones, age 34, of Middleton, Tenn., died April 6, 2006.

She was the daughter of the late Robert L. Jones and Mrs. Vivian S. Jones of Jonesboro.

Jackson-Highley Funeral Home, 126 Panama Road, in West Helena will be in charge of the service.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Mt. Gillian Baptist Church at Houlb Crossing.

Interment will be held in Gill's Cemetery at Gills.

Bonnie Jo Thompson Lowe

WEST MEMPHIS -- Mrs. Bonnie Jo Thompson Lowe, 71, of West Memphis died April 4, 2006, at her residence.

Mrs. Lowe, a homemaker, is survived by two sons, Larry Baxter and Gary Baxter of West Memphis; four sisters, Kathryn Headrick of St. Louis, Maxine Reppell of Mountain Home, JoAnn Phillips of Southaven, Miss., and Sue Smith of Clinton, Tenn.; two brothers, Bill Thompson of Maumelle and Harold Box of Trumann; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lyndon Lowe; and a sister, Ruth Garris.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 201 Pine St., West Memphis, with visitation from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Norman McMurray

CHEROKEE VILLAGE -- Mr. Norman McMurray, 77, of Cherokee Village died Wednesday at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.

Mr. McMurray was a retired railroad conductor. He was a member of Cherokee Village Methodist Church and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Lorrain McMurray; three daughters, Rae Ann McMurray of Cedarville, Ill., Lynn Morre of Pueblo, Colo., and Kayla White of Madison, Wis.; one sister, Betty Milks of Brodhead, Wis.; one brother, Kenneth McMurray of Valier, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, in Cherokee Village Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Heath Oak Hill Chapel, with Pastor Bob Burton officiating.

Bernice Vivian Newson

BIRDSONG -- Bernice Vivian Newson, 69, of Birdsong died April 4, 2006, at her home.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra Herd and Sherry Newson; sons, Larry Newson, Jerome Newson and Gregory Newson, all of Osceola, and Adrian Newson; sisters, Maude Burks, Ruth Davis, Ollie Tyler and Lillie Newson, all of Birdsong, and Helen Gillespie of West Memphis; brothers, Albert Newson and Algie Newson, both of Keiser; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Burial will follow in Gilfield Cemetery in Gilmore.

Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Cleveland Painter

JONESBORO -- Cleveland Painter, 82, of Jonesboro died Thursday at his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Cain Painter, in 2004.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Pearlie Mae Riley

NEWPORT -- Mrs. Pearlie Mae Riley, 78, of Newport died Thursday.

Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Riley; her parents; one brother; and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Riley of Grubbs and Jerry Riley of Weiner; two daughters, Sue Addington of Newport and Ludene Thornton of California; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ballew's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight.

Allie Vaughn

JONESBORO -- Mrs. Allie Vaughn, 87, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, April 6, 2006, at the Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Walnut Ridge. She was of the Baptist belief and an employee of the quality control department at Riceland Foods in Jonesboro.

Allie was born to Dr. Allen and Pearl Reeves.

She is survived by her two sons, Darrel Vaughn of Jonesboro and Dannie Vaughn of Cabot; four daughters, Shirley Smith of Tulcare, Calif., Norma June White of Harligen, Texas, Willa Fay Gibson of Jonesboro and Carrol May of Paragould; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Alllie was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Allen and Pearl Reeves, and a son, Sammie "Cotton" Vaughn.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, in Oaklawn Cemetery, with Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, with Langford-Bookout Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mildred Maxine Walters

CORDOVA, Tenn. -- Mildred Maxine Walters, 82, of Cordova, Tenn., died Wednesday at Cordova Rehab and Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Beech Grove, the daughter of the late Carl and Hester Cooper Garner. A brother, Edsel Garner, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by daughters, Gilda Maynard and Judy Wardlow, both of Memphis; a brother, Billy Garner of Lake City; four grandsons, Keith Maynard of Palmdale, Calif., and Charles Jr., Michael and Tim Wardlow, all of Olive Branch, Miss.; and one great-granddaughter, Shannon Maynard of Palmdale.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Greene County Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Tommy Toombs officiating.

Floyd Leon Bonham

JONESBORO -- Floyd Leon Bonham, 78, of Jonesboro died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at NEA Medical Center.

Born in Harrisburg, he lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a quality control supervisor at General Electric for 39 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1957 and served as an usher and Sunday school leader for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Bonham of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Paula and Louie Asher and Sandi and Buddy Johnston, all of Jonesboro; two brothers, Robert Bonham of Jonesboro and Ben Bonham of Harrisburg; three grandsons, Alan Johnston of London, Ark., Gregg Asher of Dallas and Marcus Asher of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Abria Johnston and Angela Harris, both of Jonesboro; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Ila Vee Milstead Bonham; two brothers; and four sisters.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 9, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Archie Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as active pallbearers are Lonnie Talbert, Bill Gibson, Charles Willhite, Jerry Cooper, Gene Beal and Jim Clouse; and as honorary pallbearers, the Adult 4 and 5 Sunday School Department of Central Baptist Church.
