Demetrus Shelley Jr.

TRUMANN -- Demetrus Deshay "D.J." Shelley Jr. was stillborn Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his parents, Wyquita Brown and Demetrus Shelley, both of Trumann; one sister, Serenity Shakiyah Shelley, of the home; maternal grandparents, Ricky and Brenda Brooks of Nashville; and paternal grandparents, William Garner and Brenda Shelley, both of Trumann.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Cherry Beam Cemetery in Tyronza, with the Rev. Terry Carter officiating.

Active pallbearers will be William Garner and Cleve Shelley. Honorary pallbearer will be Wallace Brown.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gaylord Steffen

GLENCOE -- Mr. Gaylord "Steve" Steffen, of Glencoe was a graduate from Iowa State University. He and his wife were the owners of Engineering Supply Co. in Davenport, Iowa, for 22 years before moving to Horseshoe Bend. They owned Lindsay Water in Horseshoe Bend for 14 years. After retiring he worked at Wal-Mart as a door greeter in Ash Flat for more than 14 years until his death on Wednesday in Ash Flat at the age of 83.

He was a Navy veteran and a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Friedholdt Steffen; one sister, Birdine Tucker of Davenport, Iowa; and many loving friends.

A memorial service will held at a later date by Heath Oak Hill Chapel of Hardy.

Marian C. Beall

WILSON -- Marian C. Beall, 91, of Wilson went to be with the Lord Friday, April 7, in Blytheville.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Thomas W. Beall and John W. Beall; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Her husband of 51 years, Elstner D. Beall, and her brother, the Rev. Billy Cooley, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at United Methodist Church in Wilson, with services beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Bassett Cemetery, with the Revs. Allen Rainey and Charlotte Staggs officiating.

Troy Booth

CARAWAY -- Troy Booth, 92, of Caraway died at his residence Saturday, April 8, 2006.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

James 'Cecil' Burch

SCOTT, Miss. -- James "Cecil" Burch, 87, of Scott died Friday, April 7, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Miss.

He was a lifelong farmer. At the time of his death he was co-owner of Cecil Burch Farms Partnership at Scott. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Freshour Burch, mother of his two daughters.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Burch of Cleveland; two daughters, Joann Weathers and her husband Donald of Eudora and Joyce Morgan and her husband Jim of Keiser; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 10 a.m.-noon Monday at Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto, with the funeral services following at noon, with Todd Vinson officiating.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Keith Weathers, Henry Morgan, Chad Story, Joe Girdley, Justin Weathers, Bob Serio and Robby Casevechia.

Burial will follow in Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto, with Murphy Funeral Home in charge.

Retha M. Hill

LUXORA -- Retha M. Hill, 84 of Luxora died April 7, 2006, at SMCR Medical Center in Osceola.

She was born to Arthur Lee and Anna Lee Butler in Luka, Miss., and was a homemaker.

Son, Jimmy Harris of Luxora; grandchildren, Sheila Diane Jaramillo, Joann Vernon, Angela Stevenson, all of Luxora, Crystal Gail Jaramillo of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Florence Evans of Pensacola, Fla.; and 12 great-grandchildren survive her.

Graveside services are at 1 p.m. April 10 in Leachville Cemetery.

Visitation is from 11 a.m.-noon April 10 at Cobb Funeral Home.

Mae Vandagriff McElroy

OZARK -- Mae Vandagriff McElroy, 91, of Ozark died Thursday, April 6, 2006.

She was a retired secretary and deputy county clerk; a charter member and past president of Ozark Garden Club; member of Ozark First United Methodist Church; member of United Methodist Women's group, board of stewards and Sunday school teacher; member of county election committee; and past president of Parent Teacher Association.

Survivors include two sons, John McElroy of Texarkana, Texas, and David McElroy of Fort Smith; three daughters, Ann Hall of Bryant, Charlene Creech of Jonesboro and Shirley Bell of Monticello; a sister, Gean Dickerson McSwain of Fort Smith; a brother, Dell Harmon of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ozark First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ron Newberry officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Memorials may be made to Ozark First United Methodist Church, 503 West Commercial, Ozark 72949; or Alzheimer's Association, Western Arkansas Chapter, 320 North Greenwood Ave., Fort Smith 72901.

Cleveland Paxton Painter

JONESBORO -- Cleveland Paxton Painter, 82, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, April 6, at his residence.

He was born in Grubbs and lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was retired from Cooper Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include four sons, Larry Painter of Yakima, Wash.; Rickey Painter and Darren Painter, both of Jonesboro, and Terry Painter of Hardy; four daughters, Wanda Shelton of Columbia, Mo.; Donna Beck and Janet Haas, both of Jonesboro; and Christy Cook of Bono; one sister, Doris Beakley of Jonesboro; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Painter in 2004; parents, Dewie and Katie "Willie" Eich Painter; and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Ranny Rodgers, Jonathan Crymes, Tony Beck, Donald Wayne Sartin, Josh Caldwell and Michael Lozano.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pine Log Cemetery, with Bill Thornton officiating.

Visitation will be from noon-1:15 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Edward Leon Poe

PIGGOTT -- Funeral services for Edward Leon Poe, 76, of Life Care Center of LaCenter, Ky., formerly of Piggott, who died April 7, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott, with Richard Tippitt and Boyd Wicker officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Poe was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva "Pillow" Poe; four brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors are a daughter, Brenda Pemberton; a brother, Harold Poe; nieces; nephews; and many friends and relatives.

Hazel Lorene Randolph

PIGGOTT -- Hazel Lorene Randolph, 75, of Piggott died April 8, 2006.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Jack and Marie Wiley Warren; her husband, Landon Randolph; one brother; and three sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Sonya Randolph of Piggott; and two sisters, Mary Rogers of Rector and Francis Grissom of Upland, Calif.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, in the Chapel of Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home, with Mark Book officiating.

Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from noon until funeral time on Monday.

William A. Starnes

CARAWAY -- William A. Starnes, 87, of Caraway died Saturday, April 8, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
