Wilma Alice McDaniel
RECTOR -- Funeral services for 90-year-old Wilma Alice McDaniel of Rector will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel of Rector. Burial will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery
at Rector.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
She is survived by one daughter, Lucille and her husband Leroy Mills of Rector; one grandson, Keith and wife Kim McDaniel; and great-grandchildren, Kegan and Kara McDaniel, all of Jonesboro.
Sam ORing
WYNNE -- Sam ORing, age 83, of Wynne died April 7, 2006, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was a Baptist and member of Brotherhood of Maintenance of Away. He retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Frances ORing of Wynne; sons, Gregory Williams and James Gary, both of Wynne, Arthur Gary and Curtis Pearson, both of Chicago, George Gary of Little Rock, David ORing of North Little Rock and Donald ORing of Conway; daughters, Donnie Frazier of Bastrop, La., and Arlene Gary of Wynne; sisters, Luevnia Hampton of Helena, Rosie Gaines of Cleveland and Magnolia King of Rochester, N.Y.; 30 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Jones Temple Church of God in Christ in Wynne, with Elder Alvin Coleman Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery
at Cherry Valley.
Woodard Funeral Service of Wynne is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Woodard Funeral Chapel.
Helen Marie Rowland
POCAHONTAS -- Helen Marie Rowland, 91, died Sunday at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann Coffman of Pocahontas; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas.
Services will be held at a later date.
Charles M. Ryan
JONESBORO -- Charles M. Ryan, 71, of Jonesboro died Monday afternoon at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ryan.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.
Wanda F. Draughon Sanders
WYNNE -- Wanda F. Draughon Sanders, age 78, of Wynne died Sunday at CrossRidge Community Hospital in Wynne.
She was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Wynne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Minnie Thomas; brother, Arthur Draughon Jr.; and sister, Juanita Nichols.
Mrs. Sanders graduated from Wynne High School. On Jan. 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Yuell "Shorty" Sanders. They were married for 55 years. Wanda was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies and was known in the Harris Chapel Community as the "community babysitter."
Wanda loved all children, but most of all loved the time she spent taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. Wanda was a devoted wife and mother; she loved her children and her grandchildren dearly. She put everyone's needs before her own and was always there for her family. Wanda had the patience of a saint and was a friend to all. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. A special thank you to the Wynne Healthcare Center Staff and CrossRidge Community Hosptial for their kindness and support to Wanda's family.
Survivors include husband, Yuell "Shorty" Sanders of Wynne; son, Jeff Sanders and wife Joy of Wynne; daughters, Dian Mowery and husband Steve of Maumelle, Ramona McAvoy and husband Gene and Lisa Carter and husband David, all of Wynne; brother, Love Draughon and wife Dora of Wynne; sisters, Frieda Woods and husband Bill of Magnolia and Delores Findlay and husband Bob of Lafayette, Ind.; grandchildren, Amber Mowery of Little Rock, Stephanie Mowery of Maumelle, Brittany Dollar and husband Ricky of McCrory, Courtney Sanders, Danielle Carter, Justin Sanders, Hayley Fuller and Katelyn Sanders, all of Wynne, and Skylar Sanders of Cherry Valley; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Harris Chapel Cemetery
at Wynne.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 tonight at Kernodle Funeral Home.
Memorials can be sent to the memorial fund established in Mrs. Sanders' name at Harris Chapel Baptist Church and Arkansas Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
James B. Stout
PARAGOULD -- James B. Stout, 85, formerly of Paragould, died April 4, 2006, in Montrose, Mich.
Surviving are one son, James Stout of Corning; one daughter, Paula Chant of Arkansas; one brother, Arlan Caroll; one sister, Thelma Stout; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, with the Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery.
Douglas K. Tompkins
SWIFTON -- Douglas K. Tompkins, 90, of Swifton died Sunday.
He was born Dec. 31, 1915, at Dayton, Ohio, the son of Earl and Effie Tompkins.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Templeton Tompkins of Swifton; one son, David Tompkins; one daughter, Judith Tompkins; and six grandchildren, Nathan Tompkins, Michael Wonzong, Jessica Tompkins, Deanna Shadden and husband Justin, Sarah Tompkins and David Andrew Tompkins.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swifton Church of Christ. Interment will be in Swifton Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9 tonight.
Arrangements are by Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.
Linda McCord Anderson
JONESBORO -- Linda McCord Anderson, 64, of Jonesboro died Monday in St. Bernard's Medical Center at Jonesboro.
She was born Nov. 21, 1941, in Monette to James Chester McCord and Lillian Lenore Peoples, who precede her in death.
Mrs. Anderson was a devoted wife of 46 years to Terry Anderson Sr. Linda and Terry were members of Calvary Chapel of Jonesboro. She loved to work in the nursery and spoil all the little ones. She was always "taking care of others." That was her gift from God. Everyone who came in contact with her can testify to this gift.
Linda is survived by her husband, Terry; two sons and their wives, Tracey and Terry E. Anderson Jr. of Jonesboro, and Holly and Randy Anderson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Larry Drummond, Connie and Bob Hurst of Monette, and Patricia and Ruben McClelland of Jonesboro; a brother and his wife, Sharon and Ronnie McCord of Monette; six grandchildren, Derrick Anderson and his fiancee, Kara Tate, and Zachary Anderson of Jonesboro; Olivia, Clay, Joe and Claire Anderson of Broken Arrow; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Langford-Bookout Funeral Home with John Lawrence of Calvary Chapel officiating. Special music will be provided by Linda's brother Ronnie McCord and nephew Mark Hurst. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be nephews James Paul McCord, Clint McCord, Bobby Hurst and Andy Hatch of Monette, Bryan Drummond and Keith Rubottom of Jonesboro, and Jodie Anderson of Wentzville, Mo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Derrick Anderson and Kara Tate, Zachary Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Clay Anderson, Joe Anderson, Claire Anderson, Sophia Drummond and Natalie Drummond.
The family asks that the Calvary Chapel Building Fund, 411 Calvary Cove, Jonesboro 72401, be considered for memorials.
Jerry Ferguson
BAY -- Jerry Ferguson, 46, of Bay died Monday, April 10. Born in Jonesboro, he lived most of his life in the Bay area and was employed at Arkansas State University.
Survivors include his wife, Dana Smithson Ferguson of the home; three daughters, Jerra Ferguson, Jordan Ferguson and Katlyn Ferguson, all of Bay; his mother, Betty Ferguson of Jonesboro; four brothers, Danny Ferguson of Jonesboro, Tim Ferguson of Hot Springs, and Rick Ferguson and Randy Ferguson, both of Bay; and a sister, Susie Bollinger of Bay.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Toot" Ferguson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Danny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Danny Ferguson, Rick Ferguson, Randy Ferguson, Tim Ferguson, Randy Bowers and Derick Smithson.
Honorary pallbearers will include Bay Girls Athletics.
Visitation will be from 5-8 tonight in the funeral home.
Herschel Gillins
JONESBORO -- Herschel Gillins of Jonesboro died April 9, 2006. Born at Dallas, he resided in Jonesboro for 16 years. He was an air-traffic controller, a first lieutenant in the Army and an Episcopalian by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Fran of the home; two sons and their wives, Herschel L. and Sharon Gillins of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Christopher L. and Mary Ellen Gillins of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Alexandria Gillins of Mountain View, Jordan Gillins and Abigayle Gillins, both of North Little Rock; two stepgrandchildren, Meagan Eaton Gillins of Fort Bragg and Tony L. White of Germany; four sisters and one brother, all of Dallas.
Services will be at Dallas under the direction of Black and Clark Funeral Home.
Local arrangements are handled by Woodard Funeral Service of Jonesboro.
