Barbara L. Nicola, 50, of Texarkana, Ark., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Nicola was born Dec. 30, 1953, in Texarkana, Texas. She was a homemaker, a retired LPN and a member of Grace Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jess Nicola of Texarkana; two sons, Shayne Coats of Kansas City, Mo., and Harley Thornton of Texarkana; two stepsons, Andrew Nicola and Keith Nicola of Green Earth, Minn.; one sister, Marie King of Gurdon, Ark.; three brothers, Donny Moore and Randy Moore of Texarkana and Tommy Moore of New Boston, Texas; her grandmother, Thelma Moore of Texarkana; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Church with the Rev. Orville Farren officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Abigail Simpson, the infant daughter of Terry and Melissa Simpson of Texarkana, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in a Little Rock hospital.
Arrangements are pending with East Funeral Home, downtown.

HOPE, Ark. - William Curtis Yates, 80, of Hope died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in Hope.
Mr. Yates was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Hope. He was retired from Burner - Ivory Co. and a member of Southside Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Wayne Yates.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Evans Yates of Hope; one daughter, Sonya Yates Marcet Stanley of Pearland, Texas; four brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery
with the Rev. Spencer Plumley officiating. Burial will be under direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

De QUEEN, Ark. - Ronald Finley Mize, 60, of Kemp, Texas, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in a Dallas hospital.
Mr. Mize was born June 11, 1943, in Ben Lomond, Ark. He was self - employed and a veteran.
Survivors include three children, Rosalyn, Ronda and Luke; one stepdaughter, Crystal; one brother, David Mize of Arlington, Texas; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Ben Lomond Cemetery
with Mike Mize officiating. Burial will be under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Bennie Johnson, 85, of Texarkana, Ark., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Johnson was retired from the Texarkana, Texas, Parks & Recreation Department and an Army veteran.
Survivors include two sisters, Lottie Mudford of California and Pauline Walsh of Nevada; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today in Rose Hill Cemetery
with the Rev. Kevin Holt officiating. Burial will be under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

PRESCOTT, Ark. - Syble M. Hooks Brown, 82, of Prescott died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in a Hope, Ark., hospital.
Mrs. Brown was born May 11, 1921, in Prescott. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Brown in August 1999.
Survivors include one son, James Roy Brown of Prescott; two daughters, Johnnie Jo Brown of Houston and Judy Allen of Prescott; one brother, Willie Hooks of Prescott; three sisters, Katie Holder of Port Arthur, Texas, Margie Lucas and Mary Ann Lucas of Prescott; 10 grandchildren; 14 great - grandchildren; and 17 great - great - grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al Womack officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery.

HOPE, Ark. - Helen Joyce Miller, 75, of Waxahachie, Texas, formerly of Prescott, Ark., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004.
Mrs. Miller was born April 9, 1928, in Prescott. She was retired from Nevada County Library, employed with Nevada County Home Extension Office, McRae High School and Lone Star Depot, a member of Prescott Church of God, pianist for the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, member of the Board of Directors for Ila Upchurch Center and a former member of the Baptist Congress Chorus and McRae Reunion Choir.
Survivors include one daughter and son - in - law, Lyndia and Kennith Washington of Waxahachie; one son, Samuel Richardson of Little Rock; her stepmother; one sister and brother - in - law, Irma and Willie H. Gilmore of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one brother, Robert Miller Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisc.; two grandsons; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prescott Church of God. Burial will be in DeAnn Cemetery
under direction of Hicks Funeral Home.
A musical tribute will be 7 p.m. today at the church.
