Edith Marie Laywell Cornelius, 88, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Cornelius was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Pottsville, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman "Bear" Cornelius.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter - in - law, Harry "Hick" Cornelius of Texarkana and Joe Cornelius and Paula Hamilton of Wake Village, Texas; two grandchildren and one grandson - in - law, Misty and Chad Honea and Matthew Cornelius of Texarkana; two great - grandchildren, Reece Cornelius and Riley Cornelius; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Monday in Harmony Grove Cemetery
with Bill Hardesty officiating. Burial will be under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 212 Jeffrey Lane, Wake Village.

Iris Ineta Crabtree, 74, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in a local hospital.

De QUEEN, Ark. - Edith Eloner Madewell Wilson, 89, of Horatio, Ark., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, in a local hospital.

FL FRICKS
Velvie FL Fricks, 86, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Fricks was born April 18, 1917, in Miller County, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jab Ward in 1949 and Bill Fricks in 1993; and one granddaughter, Tammy Potts Pettit, in 2002.
Survivors include four daughters, Glenda Hawkins of Emory, Texas, Sue Potts of Genoa, Ark., Nelda Davis of Minden, La., and Lisa Fricks of Texarkana; two sons, David Ward of Genoa and Troy Ward of Texarkana; one brother, J.A. Nall of Texarkana; 18 grandchildren; 44 great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Texarkana Funeral Home Fuqua - Everett Memorial Chapel with Tim Wilder and the Rev. Orville Farren officiating. Burial will be in Genoa Central Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of Troy Ward, 1000 Short Horn Drive, Miller County Road 136, Texarkana, Ark.

Louise Cannon, 74, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in a local hospital.

BILL FISCHER
ASHDOWN, Ark. - Bill Fischer, 94, of Ashdown died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Ashdown.
Mr. Fischer was born Aug. 10, 1909, in Washington, Pa. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Fischer.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Fischer of Ashdown; one son, Bill Fischer of Texarkana; one brother, Lewis Fischer of Washington; one sister, Gertrude Amon of Shinstown, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Greg Fischer and Lauren Fischer.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Ashdown Cemetery
with the Rev. Ronnie Ledford officiating. Burial will be under direction of Madden Funeral Services.
WANDA SCOGGIN
NASHVILLE, Ark. - Wanda L. Harden Scoggin, 83, of Nashville died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Scoggin was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Fort Towson, Okla. She was a homemaker, election worker and member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Scoggin, on April 5, 1993.
Survivors include one daughter, Judi Scoggin Cauley of Nashville; one grandson, Brett Cauley of Birmingham, Ala.; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Nashville Funeral Home Chapel with Glen Green officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery
under direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
C.W. FEATHERSTON JR.
STAMPS, Ark. - C.W. Featherston Jr., 79, of Lewisville, Ark., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Featherston was born July 11, 1924, in Lafayette County, Ark. He was a farmer, a member of Canfield Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Hill Featherston of Lewisville; three sons, Steve Featherston and Jeff Featherston of Hope, Ark., and Homer Featherston of Lewisville; two daughters, Joanna Billingsley of Violet Hill, Ark., and Judy Golden of Arkadelphia, Ark.; two brothers, John Lewis Featherston of Lewisville and Eugene Featherston of San Antonio; one sister, Fannie Covington of Mojave Valley, Ariz.; one brother - in - law, Terrell Delaney of Lewisville; nine grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at A.O. Smith Funeral Home with Charles Bell officiating. Burial will be in Demoss Cemetery, Canfield.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

GENEVA FALKNER
ASHDOWN, Ark. - Geneva C. Falkner, 85, of Atlanta, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, in Texarkana, Texas.
Mrs. Falkner was born Oct. 22, 1918, in Atlanta. She was a member of Queen City Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hercial Lafayette Falkner.
Survivors include one son and daughter - in - law, Hercial Wayne and Nancy Falkner of Ashdown; one daughter and son - in - law, Dorothy Elizabeth and Jerry Chamblee of Atlanta; one sister, Florence Milligan of Atlanta; three grandchildren; and eight great - grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Ashdown Cemetery
with the Rev. Becky Reber officiating. Burial will be under direction of Madden Funeral Services.

HERBERT MITCHELL JR.
TULSA, Okla. - Herbert L. Mitchell Jr., 77, of Texarkana, Ark., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Mitchell was born March 13, 1926, in Cabot, Ark. He is a former employee of Phillips Petroleum, Gulf Oil and Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, retired from INCOG and a World War II Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeanne Bacon Mitchell.
Survivors include one daughter, Katherine Mitchell Detwiler of Tulsa; two sons, David Mitchell of Tulsa and Dennis Mitchell of Stanly, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Sarah Detwiler, Alex Detwiler, Kyle Detwiler, Grant Detwiler and Deven Dobrowolski of Tulsa and Zachary Mitchell of Glenpool, Okla.
Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4562, Texarkana, Ark. Arrangements are under direction of Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home, Westwood Chapel.

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - John William Whitten, 60, of Fort Worth, Texas, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in a Fort Worth hospital.
Mr. Whitten was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Bogata, Texas. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include one son, John Michael Whitten; his parents, John Clovis and Ann Guess Whitten; two sisters, Margaret Whitten Blair of Flower Mound, Texas; one brother and two sisters - in - law, Randy and Betsy Whitten of Conway, Ark., and Jane Whitten Cranfill of Fort Worth; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bogata Cemetery
with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will be under direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
