ALONDRA GUERRA

NASHVILLE, Ark. - Alondra Fernandez - Guerra, 17, of Nashville died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Little River County from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Alondra was born Nov. 7, 1986, in Monclova, Coahila, Mexico. She was employed with Electrolux Home Products and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Jorge Jesus Fernandez - Guerra of Mexico and Cristina Esobedo Barrios of Nashville; two sisters, Isabel Cristina Fernandez - Guerra of Mexico and Rosa Cristal Fernandez - Guerra of Nashville; and one brother, Jesus Salvador Fernandez - Guerra of Mexico.

Services will be at a later date in Terrell, Texas.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Latimer Funeral Home.

HERBERT MITCHELL JR.

TULSA, Okla. - Herbert L. Mitchell Jr., 87, of Texarkana, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Mitchell was born March 13, 1926, in Cabot, Ark. He was retired from INCOG, a former employee of Phillipis Petroleum and Gulf Oil, a member of Tulsa Chamber of Commerce and a World War II Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeanne Bacon Mitchell.

Survivors include his daughter, Katherine Mitchell Detwiler of Tulsa; two sons, David Mitchell of Tulsa and Dennis Mitchell of Stanly, N.C.; six grandchildren, Sarah Detwiler, Alex Detwiler, Kyle Detwiler, Grant Detwiler and Deven Dobrowolski of Tulsa and Zachary Mitchell of Glenpool, Okla.

Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. today at VFW Post No. 4562, Texarkana, Ark. Arrangements are under direction of Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home.

LIZZIE CALLOWAY

ASHDOWN, Ark. - Lizzie Calloway, 55, of Ashdown died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, in a local nursing home.

Arrangements are pending with Hamburg Funeral Home.

LOU McGOOGAN

Lou McGoogan, 69, of Texarkana, Ark., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at her home.

Mrs. McGoogan was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Texarkana, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church, Walkers Creek, Ark.

Survivors include one son, John Truitt McGoogan of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Sara Lynn Short of Mena, Ark., and Amanda Kay Graham of Conway, Ark.; two brothers, Steve Montgomery of Dry Prong, La., and Ray Montgomery of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Jean Horrocks, Sue Jones and Shirley Hood of Texarkana; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Mars Hill Cemetery, Stamps, Ark., with the Revs. Steve Montgomery and Timothy Montgomery officiating. Burial will be under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

The family will be at their home, 4207 Morningvue, Texarkana, Ark.

DAVID PRESTON

David Preston, 81, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, in a local hospital.

Mr. Preston was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Texarkana, Texas. He was retired from Buchanan Bottling Company, a member of Christian Church and a decorated World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Pearl Purifoy Preston of Texarkana; one son and daughter - in - law, Charles David and Shellye Preston of Ashdown, Ark.; two daughters and sons - in - law, Patrecia and T.J. Adams of Texarkana and Barbara and Ronnie Binning of Nash, Texas; one sister, Nellie Volentine of Texarkana; 14 grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

Memorial services were Feb. 12, 2004, at Highland Hills Baptist Church with Buddy Smeltzer officiating. Arrangements were under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

The family will be at their home 2906 Division St., Texarkana, Ark.

GRADY GRUBBS

De QUEEN, Ark. - Grady Edward Grubbs, 75, of Dierks, Ark., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in a Nashville, Ark., hospital.

Mr. Grubbs was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Marion County, Ala. He was a retired truck driver and a pilot.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Grubbs; seven sons, Larry Grubbs of Joplin, Mo., Jerry Grubbs of Grove City, Minn., Randy Grubbs, Rickey Grubbs and Carl Grubbs of Dierks and Glen Grubbs and Craig Grubbs of Lockesburg, Ark.; six daughters, Paula Fugitt of Dierks, Martha Ewert of Nashville, Linda Grubbs, Lisa Grubbs, Julie Deer and Karen Grubbs of Lockesburg; one brother, Lebrun Grubbs of Oakdale, Calif.; one sister, Patricia LaFevers of Mo.; and a number of grandchildren and great - grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce Short officiating. Burial will be in Dierks Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

BILLY RICHARDSON JR.

Billy Wayne "Still Bill" Richardson Jr., 23, of Texarkana, Ark., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, in New Boston, Texas.

Mr. Richardson was born Sept. 14, 1980, in Texarkana. He was a member of Maud, Texas, First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Octavein J. Richardson of Maud; one daughter, Cadagcin N. White of Texarkana; his parents, Billy W. Richardson Sr. and Shelia Richardson of Maud; three sisters, Lakeisha Richardson of Maud, Shaka Richardson of Texarkana and Shunae Ball of San Diego, Calif.; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Hall and Emma S. Thompson of Maud.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Maud High School Cafeteria with the Rev. Willie E. Terry officiating. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CLARA MOODY

HOPE, Ark. - Clara M. Moody, 84, of Hope, Ark., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in a North Little Rock hospital.

Mrs. Moody was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Hope. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Moody.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Moody Tarasewicz of North Little Rock and Virginia Gill of Hot Springs, Ark.; two grandchildren, Jon Poe of Hot Springs and LeAnna Tarasewicz of North Little Rock; and three great - grandchildren, Grace Mills of Hot Springs, Donovan Emerson and Katlyn Poe of Emmet, Ark.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Huckabee Cemetery with Earl Cumbie officiating. Burial will be under direction of Herndon Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

SYBIL WATSON

HOPE, Ark. - Sybil Watson, 77, of Hope died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in Hope.

Mrs. Watson was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Hampton, Ark. She was a homemaker, a charter member of Melon City Good Sams and founding member of Hope Community Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Watson; two daughters and sons - in - law, Barbara and Gene Brunner of Little Rock and Debbie and Michael Malek of Hope; three grandsons and one granddaughter - in - law, Bart and Jenny Bledsoe of Las Vegas and Collin Brunner and Grant Brunner of Little Rock; and one great - granddaughter, Taylor Ann Bledsoe of Las Vegas.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Hope Community Church. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Watson Cemetery, Tinsman, Ark., under direction of Herndon Funeral Home.

DOUGLAS DYAS

Douglas M. Dyas, 57, of Fouke, Ark., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in a local hospital.

Mr. Dyas was born Sept. 23, 1946, in Fouke. He was a retired welder and a member of Pipe Liners Local 798.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Dyas of Fouke; one son, Dustin Douglas Dyas of Fouke; two daughters, Robin Rivere of Fouke and Peggy Sue Heller of Bemidji, Minn.; his mother, Esther Lee Dyas of Texarkana; one sister, Carolyn Odom of Fouke; two brothers, Terry Dyas of Fouke and Gary Dyas of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Church on the Rock with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.

The family will be at the Dyas residence at 2472 Miller County Road 20, Fouke.

KATHRYN RILEY

STAMPS, Ark. - Kathryn Pope Riley, 67, of Bodcaw, Ark., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at her home.

Mrs. Riley was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Camden, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Home Extension Club and Willisville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Haskell Riley of Bodcaw; one son, Mike Riley of Bodcaw; two daughters and one son - in - law, Patricia and Marlin Jordan of Rayville, La., and Anita Riley of Derby, Kan.; one sister - in - law, Cortney Pope; six grandchildren; and two nieces.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Sandiford Hankins and Keenan Williams officiating. Burial will be in Falcon, Ark., Cemetery.
