STAMPS, Ark. - Cleo Lawson, 85, of San Francisco, Calif., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at her home.

Ms. Lawson was born June 4, 1918, in Lewisville, Ark. She was a member of Crossroad Baptist Church.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Crossroad Baptist Church with Imond Washington officiating. Burial will be in Crossroad Church Cemetery under direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

HELEN GADDIS

De QUEEN, Ark. - Helen Merisdean Gaddis, 81, of Dierks, Ark., died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in a Nashville, Ark., hospital.

Mrs. Gaddis was born May 25, 1922, in Minden, La. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, T. Gaddis; two sons and daughters - in - law, Thearl Fayne and Linda Gaddis of Lubbock, Texas, and Teddy Gene and Linda Gaddis of Stinnett, Texas; two grandchildren; one great - grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today in Greens Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial will be under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

JONATHAN PETTIGREW

MURFREESBORO, Ark. - Jonathan Pettigrew, 21, of Murfreesboro died Thursday, March 18, 2004, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Mr. Pettigrew was born Sept. 29, 1982, in Hot Springs, Ark. He was a member of Murfreesboro Church of Christ.

Survivors include his parents, Robbie and Carletta Pettigrew of Murfreesboro; three brothers and two sisters - in - law, Alonzo I. and Tina Pettigrew of Farmington, Ark., Ronald D. and Shelly Pettigrew of Murfreesboro and Joshua L. Pettigrew of Monticello, Ark.; his grandparents, Carl and Ferrell Lovell of De Queen, Ark., and Sybel Young of Bossier City, La.; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Murfreesboro Church of Christ with Tommy Mounts officiating. Burial will be in Murfreesboro Cemetery under direction of Latimer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Barton Bible Camp or Murfreesboro Church of Christ.

Willie Parker, 63, of Ashdown, Ark., died Friday, March 19, 2004, in a local hospital.

Edith Mae Crabtree, 72, of Texarkana, Ark., died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, in a local hospital.

MATTIE THOMPSON

Mattie Thompson, 69, of Ogden, Ark., died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Thompson was born Dec. 24, 1934, in Ogden. She was a production worker and a member of New Canaan Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Emmitt Elkins of Ashdown, Ark., and Roland Elkins of Ogden; three daughters and two sons - in - law, Gwendolyn and Eugene Crockett and Charlotte Elkins of Ogden and Tammy and Herbert Farr of Texarkana; two brothers and one sister - in - law, James Shepard of Ogden and Iree and Lydia Shepard of Maywood, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and five great - grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Ogden, with the Rev. Herman Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Cemetery under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CHARLES MARTIN

HOPE, Ark. - Charles Henry Martin, 47, of Prescott, Ark., died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mr. Martin was born April 8, 1956. He was an employee of Ward Wood and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Joyce Martin of Prescott; three daughters, Kelly Beasley and Kerri Bryant of Prescott and Tanisha Woodley of Hot Springs, Ark.; one brother, Daryle F. Anderson of Detroit; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wards Chapel AME Church, Prescott, with the Rev. Angela Piggee officiating. Burial will be in DeAnn Cemetery, Prescott, under direction of Brandon's Mortuary.

MARSHA JONES

De QUEEN, Ark. - Marsha Ann Pippin Jones, 54, of Gillham, Ark., died Friday, March 19, 2004, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 15, 1949, in Texarkana, Ark. She was a former employee of Alamo Title Co., Pasadena, Texas, and a member of Gillham First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, David Gerald Jones of Gillham; one son and daughter - in - law, James Lee and Angie Durrett of Deer Park, Texas; her parents, A.Z. Pippin of Pearland, Texas, and Wanda and Robert Sartwelle of Gillham; and one granddaughter, Amanda Durrett of Deer Park.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob McManus officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery under direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

LOIS STEEN

STAMPS, Ark. - Lois Steen, 83, of Lewisville, Ark., died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in a Texarkana, Ark., nursing home.

Mrs. Steen was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Camden, Ark. She was a seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Steen.

Survivors include two cousins, Marilyn Vanmeter of Stonewall, La., and "Doc" Hunter of Lake Village, Ark.; and a number of other cousins.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Wilson Cemetery, Lewisville. Burial will be under direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

BLUFORD ELLIOTT

Bluford Elliott, 88, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, April 2, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Elliott was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Hooks, Texas. He was a retired vice president of Walsh Lumpkin Drug Co., a member of Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer and Kiwanis Club of Texarkana and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Elliott of Texarkana; one son and daughter - in - law, Doug and Becky Elliott of Austin; two daughters and one son - in - law, Pam and Sherman Williams of Texarkana and Cindy Lanier of Lake View, Ark.; one stepson, Richard Markham of Columbus, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Diane Smiley of Columbia, Mo.; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great - grandchildren; three stepgreat - grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Texarkana Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Gray officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

RUBYE FRENCH

De QUEEN, Ark. - Rubye Jean French, 82, of De Queen died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. French was born Oct. 24, 1921, in Lockesburg, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oswald Clyde French.

Survivors include one son, Timothy Clyde French; two daughters, Teresa Joan Thurber and Lisa Jean French of Castle Rock, Colo.; two brothers, James Ross of Centraila, Wash., and Tommy Ross of De Queen; five sisters, Minnie Mae Ross of Cove, Ark., Lille Bell Livingston of Garland, Texas, Frances Stevens and Elsie Fay Mandujano of De Queen and Bessie Lee Sexton of Chino Valley, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Redmen Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

EFFIE SMITH

Effie L. Smith, 87, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, April 4, 2004, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Smith was born June 11, 1916, in Genoa, Ark. She was retired from St. Michael hospital and a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorene Lane and Janiece Drewery of Texarkana, Texas; two sons, Teddy Smith and Jimmy Smith of Fouke, Ark.; two sisters, Grace Justice of Queen City, Texas, and Zelma Adcock of Texarkana, Ark.; one brother, Elmer Davenport of Texarkana, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 19 great - grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Texarkana Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Herbert Wren officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will be at 6258 Line Ferry Road, Texarkana, Ark.
