Nancy L. Rhoads of Wheaton
Funeral services for Nancy L. Rhoads (nee Leatherman), 61, willbe held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Wheaton Bible Church, Main at Franklin, Wheaton.
Born June 1, 1937, in Mansfield, Ohio, she died Saturday May 15, 1999, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.
Nancy graduated from Wheaton College with a bachelor of science degree in nursing and was employed for 38 years by John Oberhelman, M. D. (of Wheaton) as a nurse.
Mrs. Rhoads was a member of the Wheaton Bible Church, active in the choir and played violin in the orchestra.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by her husband of 34 years, Dr. David Rhoads; children, Brad (Susan) Rhoads of Carol Stream and Brenda (Mark)Scifo of Wheaton; mother, Bertha Leatherman of Wheaton; grandson, David Richard Rhoads of Carol Stream; brother, Douglas (Moree) Leatherman of Vero Beach, Fla.; sisters, Ramona (Bill) Gray of Ottawa, Canada and Paula (Terry) Hildreth of Carol Stream; and many dear friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the church.

Joan Roets of Batavia
Memorial services for Joan Roets will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at The Congregational Church in Batavia. Rev. David Foxgrover will officiate.
Joan was the daughter of Clarence and Gladius (nee Shaw) Kias, she passed away Sunday, April 25, 1999, at home. She was united in marriage to Francis Walton Roets on Sept. 24, 1955, in Coulterville, Ill.
Joan was a member of the Batavia Womans Club, its fine arts club and devoted a great deal of time to volunteer work.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Reese) Peck of Naperville; stepdaughter, Patricia (James) Dorband of Skokie; stepsons, Peter James (Heather) Roets of Encino, Calif., Robert (Eleanor) Roets of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Myron Roets of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren; brother, Michael (Susan) Kias of Indianapolis, Ind.; and sister, Kay (Irving) Waltman of Miami, Fla.

Mary Bowen Sanford of Park Ridge
Memorial services for Mary B. Sanford, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge, 418 W. Touhy Ave., Park Ridge.
Born Jan. 17, 1913, at Bowen's Mill, located near Richland Center, Wis., to William J. and Bertha Chitwood Bowen, she passed away Friday, May 14, 1999, at Bethany Terrace Nursing Home in Morton Grove.
Mary attended the Fairgrounds School, a one-room country school located near the Richland County Fairgrounds. She graduated from Richland Center High School in 1931 and theUniversity of Wisconsin - Madison in 1935.
While still a young girl, Mary developed a keen interest in the culinaryarts. It was not unusual for her to bake cupcakes for the family's school lunch pails before walking more than a mile to school. She graduated from the university with a degree in home economics. Shortly thereafter she was employed in the test kitchens of several well-known companies, including Libby's, Lever Bros., and National Biscuit. While she was with Lever Bros. she also gave cooking demonstrations using Spry shortening throughout the eastern half of the United States. After taking time off to raise a family, she resumed her occupational interest by serving as a food services manager in the elementary school system in Park Ridge.
Mary married Edwin A. Sanford in New York City, N. Y., during World War II. After the war they established a home in Park Ridge. Mary was a member of P. E. O. Chapter FP in Park Ridge and the First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge.
Surviving are two sons, Richard B. Sanford of Houston, Texas, and Scott (Blair) Sanford of Park Ridge; three grandchildren, Cherise and Janine of Houston, and William of Park Ridge; two sisters, Joanne (Robert) Hanson of Barrington and Margaret (Ben) Chaps of Arlington Heights; and a very dear cousin, Lois (Ken) Barry of Richland Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Frank Bowen of Richland Center.

Edith Laurel `Edie' Sauers formerly of Wonder Lake
A funeral Mass for Edith Laurel `Edie' Sauers, 74, recently of Woodstock and formerly a longtime resident of Wonder Lake, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, atChrist the King Church in Wonder Lake, the Rev. D. Tranel officiating.
Mrs. Sauers died with her family by her side Saturday, May 15, 1999, at Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock, of complications from breast cancer. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Harvard.
Edie was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Chicago, to Fredrick and Elizabeth J. (nee Kekek) Nagle. She married Norbert W. `Bud' Sauers on Jan. 28, 1950, in Chicago.
Raised and educated in Chicago, she moved to Harvard where she lived for a number of years. In 1958 she moved to Wonder Lake where she resided until moving to Woodstock four months ago.
A longtime member of Christ the King Church in Wonder Lake, Edie served as a liturgist for daily Mass. She enjoyed participating in activities as a member of the Wonder Lake Senior Citizens Club. Described as an adventurer by her family, she enjoyed taking trips and playing bingo.
She was the beloved mother of Laura (Chip) Cynowa of Wonder Lake, Norbert C. (Brenda) Sauers of Woodstock, and Mary Ann (Steve) Taylor of Woodstock; dear grandmother of Jason Cynowa, Jenness (Scott) Stvrtecky, Shelly, Amy, Valerie, Scott and Jeffrey Sauers, and Rose Victoria Taylor; loving great-grandmother of Joshua and Emma Lynn Stvrtecky; and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert W. `Bud' Sauers on March 26, 1985; an infant daughter, Lila Ann; two sisters, Mildred Watkins and Jeanette Johnson; and three brothers, Lawrence, Benjamin and Fredrick Nagle.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home, 7611 W. Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake.

Services for Jeanette Scheckman (nee Osterman) will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Temple Chai, 1670 Checker Rd. (at Arlington Heights Rd.), Long Grove.

She was the beloved wife of the late Meyer D.; devoted mother of Ina Feldman; cherished grandmother of Robert (Dawn), Susan (Carl Pius Weibel) Feldman and Laura (Mike) Iosue; adoring great-grandmother of Jessica, Daniel, Rachel, Alleya and Jonathan; dear sister of Ruth (late Lou) Weiner, and the late Joseph (late Gertrude), Marvin and Sidney (late Esther) Osterman; and dear sister-in-law of Helen Osterman.

Richard F. Schoepke of Arlington Heights
Services for Richard F. Schoepke, 77, will begin with prayers at 8:45 a.m. today, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, and continue with Mass at 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights.
Born Dec. 27, 1921, in Arlington Heights, he died Friday, May 14, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Lake Street Frontage Road, Elmhurst.
A lifelong resident of Arlington Heights, Mr. Schoepke served in the Navy during World War II and continued in the service for 25 years, including time in the Reserves. He retired from the Daily Herald after more than 38 years of service and had also worked for Willard Typesetters, Inc., located in Chicago. After his retirement, he worked for Glenbrook Patrol Service, Inc., as well as Glenview Naval Air Station Golf Course.

Irvin G. Stenborg of Libertyville
Services for Irvin G. Stenborg, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Kristan Funeral Home P. C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176), Mundelein. Rev. Cavers will officiate.
Born April 26, 1920, in Bagley, Minn., he died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at Evanston Hospital. Interment will be private.
Mr. Stenborg had been a resident of the Mundelein-Libertyville area for more than 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the Moose, a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Libertyville and the American Legion Post #0329 in Libertyville, a volunteer at Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein, and a member of the Senior Men's League at Countryside Golf Course. He had also attended the American Bowling Congress Annual Tournament for the past 34 years and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Stenborg (nee Krans); children, JoAnne (Terry) Celba of Vernon Hills, Susan (Jim) Bonollo of Franklin, Mass., Pete Stenborg of Round Lake Beach and David Stenborg of Vernon Hills; sister, Ruth (Bufford) Fullhart of Decorah, Iowa; grandchildren, Heather (Doug) Tirzmalis of Gurnee, Susan (Jay) Pickens of Mundelein, Lindsey Celba of Vernon Hills, Megan Celba of Vernon Hills and Allison Stenborg of McHenry.

Veronica V. `Verne' Wardenski of Naperville

Born April 1, 1913, in Evanston, she died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Ms. Wardenski was a lifelong resident of Evanston. She was employed for many years by Northwestern University in Evanston as a manager of the campus bookstore. Ms. Wardenski was a longtime member of Ascension Catholic Church in Evanston.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Lewandowski of Naperville; brother, Joseph (Harriet) Wardenski of Evanston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Casimera (nee Papierski) Wardenski; sister, Rose Reynolds; and brother, Casimer Wardenski.

Harry Lennart Wickstrom formerly of Arlington Heights
A memorial service for Harry Lennart Wickstrom, 71, of Dana Point, Calif., also formerly of Chicago, will be held at 3 p.m. today, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 33501 Stonehill Dr., Dana Point.
Mr. Wickstrom passed away Thursday, May 13, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer. To commemorate his love of the ocean, his immediate family will commit Mr. Wickstrom to the Pacific Ocean in a private ceremony.
He served with distinction in the Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Wickstrom attended Michigan State University and graduated with honors in electrical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. He was an electrical engineer for 40 years, and retired in 1989, as chief engineer with the StewartWarner Corporation in Chicago. He was the author of six patents.
Mr. Wickstrom enjoyed family, sailing, fishing, bridge, golf, computer programming, swimming, walking, travel, John Wayne movies and spy novels.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Muriel A. Wickstrom; devoted children, Lorie R. (Gary) Hughes of Billings, Mont., Paul L. (Debbie) Wickstrom of Utica, Mich. and Alan J. (Liz) Wickstrom of Dana Point; grandchildren, Sarah, Michael and Amy Hughes, Stephen and Erica Wickstrom, and Julie Wickstrom; and nephews, Daniel DePriest and Mark DePriest of Franklin, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Marie Wickstrom; and loving sister, Trudy DePriest.
