Mark Andrew Couch
March 6, 1975 - April 20, 2007

Mark Andrew Couch, 32, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Couch was born March 6, 1975 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Mike and Gina Henson Couch.

He was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. Mr. Couch was currently a senior at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he was president of the Collegiate Farm Bureau.

Mr. Couch was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Homer Couch and maternal grandfather, Ralph Henson.

Survivors include parents, Mike & Gina Couch of Pine Bluff; brother, Scott Couch of Auburn, Alabama; paternal grandmother, Mildred Couch of Pine Bluff; and maternal grandmother, Bertha Henson of Pine Bluff.

Visitation will be Monday, April 23 from 5-7 PM at Ralph Robinson & Son.

Services will be held at Lakeside United Methodist Church, Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim Brooks and Reverend John Embrey officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Memorials may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 1500 Olive Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71601.

Carol Sue Douglas (Hankins)
March 2, 1941 - April 20, 2007

Carol Sue Hankins Douglas, 66, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007 at Allegiance Specialty Hospital of Little Rock.

She was born, March 2, 1941 in Monticello, Arkansas the daughter of the late Fred Hankins and Wilma Edwards Hankins.

She was reared and received her early education in Monticello, Arkansas, graduating from Monticello High School. She received a degree in Elementary Education from Arkansas A&M, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She began her teaching career in 1962 in the Sheridan Public Schools. She then taught at Greenville Elementary in Pine Bluff for the majority of her career and before retirement she taught at Sam Taylor Elementary in Pine Bluff. She retired from her thirty year teaching career in 1992.

Carol Hankins married Larry Douglas July 4, 1968 at First United Methodist Church of Monticello.

During her retirement she was a homemaker, and enjoyed tending to her animals and house plants. She was an avid reader and enjoyed painting.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Monticello and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Teddy Hankins.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry Douglas of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 PM, Sunday, April 22 at Ralph Robinson & Son.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son, Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Reverend John Hagan officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Louise Lavon Walters
September 18, 1930 - April 22, 2007

Louise Lavon Walters, 76, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

She was born September 18, 1930, in Pine Bluff, a daughter of the late Zelvie and Effie Renfroe Walters.

She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, but graduated from high school in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Miss. Walters had worked for Bell South for 33 years, before retiring in 1984, and moving back to Pine Bluff.

She was a member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church, the Good News Sunday School Class, the Golden Fellowship, past secretary of the United Methodist Women, a volunteer at Davis Life Care Center, and a member of Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include her caregiver, Anne L. Langston of Pine Bluff.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Carr Memorial United Methodist Church, with Reverend Mary Susan Hilliard officiating.

Arrangements by Ralph Robinson & Son.

Memorials may be made to Carr Memorial United Methodist Church, c/o Building Fund, 909 Wisconsin Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71601.

Bernice Amelia Beard (Bradley)
March 14, 1924 - April 22, 2007

Bernice Amelia Bradley Beard, 83, of White Hall, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born March 14, 1924, in Bradley County, Arkansas, to the late Hugh Doyle and Mary Francis Armstrong Bradley.

She had worked as a security guard for Southern Bag.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include, two sons, Billy Max Bradley of Banks, Wallace Murray of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Carloyn Edwards of Pine Bluff, Sherri Clinton of Tucker; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Doyle Bradley; and a sister, Betty Hugh Adair.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday, at Robinson's.

Services will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Charles Spillyards officiating.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.

James Philip Dunklin
August 21, 1919 - April 26, 2007

James Philip Dunklin, 87, of Pine Bluff, died at Trinity Medical Center on Thursday, April 26, 2007. Born in Spiro, Oklahoma on August 21, 1919, a son of the late Irby W. and Ruth Hailey Dunklin, he was reared and received his early education in Spiro, graduating from Missouri military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. He attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He served in the United States Army in the Philippines.

Mr. Dunklin was a partner with his family in Planters Cotton Oil Mill in Pine Bluff before retiring.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

His survivors include three brothers, George H. Dunklin of Pine Bluff, William H. Dunklin of Pine Bluff, and Louis M. Dunklin of Dallas, Texas.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Dunklin at Two Elm Woods in Pine Bluff.

Graveside services are Saturday. April 28, at 2:00 PM in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Fred H. Arnold officiating.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church, 6501 S. Hazel, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.

Mary Catherine Pashkevich (Byrne)
March 10, 1920 - April 28, 2007

Mary Byrne Pashkevich, 87, of Pine Bluff, died at Trinity Medical Center on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Born in Hull, Massachusetts on March 10, 1920, daughter of the late Michael and Katherine McDermott Byrne, she was reared in a military family in several locales including Hawaii.

She married Michael Pashkevich in Hawaii at the beginning of World War II and they resided in many places as her husband pursued a career in the United States Air Force including Hawaii, Germany, France, California, Nebraska, and Arizona. After Colonel Pashkevich retired they resided in Roseville, California. Colonel Pashkevich died in 1995.

Mrs. Pashkevich was a homemaker and enjoyed swimming, gardening, and showing dogs. In addition to her parents and Colonel Pashkevich, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Jones, and a son, Michael Pashkevich, Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Michele A. Pashkevich, MD, of Pine Bluff and her son-in-law, Clarence M. Rittelmeyer, MD.

Services are Monday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverend Fred H. Arnold officiating. Visitation follows the service at Robinson's. Interment will be in Roseville District Cemetery in Roseville, California.

The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to the Jefferson County Humane Society, P. O. Box 2233, Pine Bluff, AR 71613.

Mary L. Young
December 17, 1930 - April 30, 2007

Mary L. Young, 76, of Cabot, Arkansas, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock.

Mrs. Young was born December 17, 1930 in Altheimer, Arkansas to the late Trance and Esther Salvestrini Palazzi.

She was reared and received her early education in Altheimer.

Mrs. Young was a homemaker and later worked as a private duty nurse for the elderly. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leonard Young.

Survivors include her daughter, Maggie Durley of Cabot; son, Robert Lee Young of Houston, Texas; brother, Trance Palazzi, Jr. of White Hall, Arkansas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Catholic Rosary will be held Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. at Robinson's.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Monsignor Jack D. Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 7434, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71611.

Willis H. "Bill" Sargent
May 21, 1931 - April 22, 2007

Willis Sargent, 75, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Sargent was born May 21, 1931, in Ogdensburg, New York, to the late Harold and Beaulah Miller Sargent. He was reared and received his education in Rensselaer Falls, New York, where he graduated from Canton High School. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force and retired after 22 years of service.

Mr. Sargent worked for the Department of Corrections for 18 years before retiring in 1996. He had served as the Warden at the Cummins Unit and the Jefferson County Regional Jail Correction Unit.

Mr. Sargent married Jacquelyn Havill on July 29, 1956, in Kingsland, Georgia.

He was a member of the Southern States Correctional Association and the Arkansas Department of Correction Retiree Organization.

Mr. Sargent is survived by his wife, Jackie Sargent, of Pine Bluff; two sons, Chris Sargent of Fort Drum, New York, and Craig Sargent of St. Cloud, Florida; a daughter, Lynda Sargent of Pine Bluff; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Sargent was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 24, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Robinson’s.

A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at 10:00 AM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Chaplain Herbert Holley and Chaplain John Hagan officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
