Mary Helen Fallis Dobbins
July 19, 1927 - September 23, 2004

Mary Helen Fallis Dobbins, 77, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Trinity Village in Pine Bluff. She was born July 19, 1927 in Charlotte, Arkansas to the late Marvin and Esther Churchill Fallis.
She was valedictorian of Charlotte High School in 1944. She graduated from Arkansas College (now Lyon) in 1948 and received her masters from Henderson State University in 1965 and post-graduate work from Henderson and the University of Arkansas.
She taught English for 31 years, 28 years in the Pine Bluff School system, 12 years as Chairperson of the English Department.
Her honors include named Distinguished Alumna of Lyon College in 1995, the Lynn Leach Distinguished Services Award in 1991, nominated for Teacher of the year in 1985-1986, and Project coordinator of Promising Young Writers Program.
She served Delta Kappa Gamma Society International at all levels. Mary was the recipient of the 2001 Kappa State Achievement Award.
She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. She has served on the Administrative Board, Neighbor Group Care leader, Vacation Bible School Teacher, volunteer in church office and United Methodist Women.
She participated in Community Concert and Arts and Science Center of Southeast Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Ed Dobbins, sister Virginia Kosser.
She is survived by her son, John Stephen Dobbins of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; brother, Dr. Charles Fallis and his wife Betty of Tucker, Georgia; sister, Charlotte Smith and her husband JB of Marianna, Arkansas. She was Aunt Til to six nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 25, 2004, 10:00 AM, at Lakeside United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jim Brooks officiating. Burial will be 3:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville, Arkansas by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 PM at Robinson's.
Memorials will go to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 1500 Olive Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71601.

Elmer Fitt
April 29, 1932 - December 26, 2001

Elmer Fitt, 69, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born April 29, 1932 in Natchez, Mississippi, he was a son of the late William Joseph Fitt and Gertrude David Smith.
Mr. Fitt was retired from International Paper Company. He was also the owner of Fitt's Fiberglass Boat Repair. He was a member of the West 28th Avenue Church of Christ and the Quarter Century Society, Inc. of International Paper Co.
Survivors include one son, Clifford Odale Fitt of Jacksonville; two brothers, George Fitt of Vidalia, Louisiana, Henry Fitt, of Vidalia, Louisiana; and one grandaughter, Jennifer D. Fitt, of Ward, Arkansas.
The family will hold a memorial service 2:00 PM Sunday, December 30, 2001 at the West 28th Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Clarence Fell officiating. The body will be cremated.

Corby Ray Boudra
December 14, 1952 - October 03, 2004

Corby Ray Boudra, 51, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at home.
Mr. Boudra was born December 14, 1952 in Pine Bluff, a son of the late Howard Boudra and Virginia Reed Boudra Hammondtree.
He was reared and received his early education in White Hall, graduating from White Hall High School. After high school, Mr. Boudra entered the Marine Corps and fought in Vietnam. After Vietnam, Mr. Boudra came back to Pine Bluff and worked for International Paper and in Security for the Pine Bluff Arsenal.
Corby Ray Boudra married Bonnie Taylor.
Mr. Boudra was a member of the 212 Hunting Club, National Rifle Association and Wild Turkey Federation.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Wasson.
Survivors include two sons, David Ray Boudra and Robert Allen Boudra of Pine Bluff; daughter, Christina Gilbert of Sheridan; brother, Howard Boudra of Rison, Arkansas; two sisters, Linda Carter of Pine Bluff and Lillian Boudra of Kernesville, North Carolina; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverend Brad Warren officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Robinson's.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6635, Pine Bluff, AR 71611 and Hospice Home Care, 3801 West 28th Avenue, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.

Billy T. Black
January 04, 1947 - October 04, 2004

Billy T. Black, 57, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, October 4, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 4, 1947, in Pine Bluff, a son of the late Robert L. and Viola Bass Black.
He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff. He worked 30 years for the Arkansas Highway Department. He retired in 1995 as superviser of the paint and body shop.
He was a Baptist.
Mr. Black was preceded in death by three brothers, J. C. Black, Carl Black, and Buddy Black.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo McMickle Black, whom he married on September 19, 1986, in McGehee; one daughter, Mary Teresa Donaldson of Suffolk, Virginia; two step-sons, Robert P. Miller of Pine Bluff, Michael Joe Miller of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Huckaby of Pine Bluff, Pauline Black of Camden; two granddaughters; and two step-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held, 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 7, 2004, in Fitzhugh Cemetery with Reverend Larry Hendren officiating. Service arrangements handled by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors.

Darliene Cheshier
July 31, 1938 - October 06, 2004

Darliene Cheshier, 66, of White Hall, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born in Ogden, Utah on July 31, 1938, a daughter of the late George Lee and Alice Reeves Chism.
She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff and White Hall, graduating from Pine Bluff High School.
Mrs. Cheshier retired in 1999 from the Dollarway School District where she worked as a Nurse's Aide and a Reading Tutor.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Chism.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald A. Cheshier, to whom she was married on May 25, 1956, in Pine Bluff; a son, Douglas Cheshier and his wife, Sue, of Conway; two daughters, Rondia Cheshier of Hot Springs, Crystal Fortier and her husband, Mark, of Jefferson; a brother, Richard Chism of Pine Bluff; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 PM at Ralph Robinson & Son.
Funeral services are 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 9, 2004 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Bryan Jarrett officiating.
Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.

Tommy O. Guenther
December 03, 1954 - December 30, 2001

Tommy Guenther, 47, of 2918 Edgewood, Pine Bluff, died Sunday, December 30, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Guenther was born December 3, 1954, in Star City, he was the son of the late Oscar Ben and Marie Hendricks Guenther.
He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff where he attended Pine Bluff High School.
Mr. Guenther was a real estate maintenance supervisor, employed by his brother, Forrest. He also helped his brother haul grain during harvest season. He was also formerly employed by Century Tube.
He was a Baptist.
His survivors include, one brother, Forrest Guenther, sister-in-law, Karen Guenther, three nieces, Curenda Moseley, Andrea R. Guenther, Lauren M. Guenther, all of Pine Bluff; one nephew, Gregory F. Guenther of Pine Bluff.
The funeral service will be Thursday, January 3, 2002, 1:00 P.M., Graveside service at Hazen Cemetery in Hazen, Arkansas. Reverend Van Saunders will officiate the service and the service will be conducted by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Raymond Alexander ( Bud ) Irwin, Jr., MD
September 30, 1924 - October 18, 2004

Raymond A. Irwin, Jr., MD, 80, of Pine Bluff, died at home Monday, October 18, 2004. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas September 30, 1924, a son of the late Raymond Alexander and Ada Barnard Irwin, he was reared and received his early education in Texarkana, Arkansas, graduating from high school there in 1942. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville before serving in the Pacific Theater with the United States Army Air Corps in World War II. He also served with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Returning to UA-Fayetteville where he received his bachelor's degree, Dr. Irwin then attended and graduated first in his class from the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock in 1951. Continuing his medical education, he served his internship at US Public Health Service Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, on the staff of the US Public Health Service Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and his residency in general and thoracic surgery in Little Rock from 1953 to 1958 serving as an instructor in surgery there in 1957.
Dr. Irwin came to Pine Bluff in 1958 when he joined the staff of Davis Hospital and The Doctors Clinic. He continued his medical practice as a general and thoracic surgeon at Davis and then Jefferson Regional Medical Center with The Doctors Clinic and Surgeons, PA in Pine Bluff until retiring as an active surgeon. During that time he served terms as Chief of Surgery at JRMC and two terms as Chief of Staff in 1963-64 and 1994-95. He also served as Medical Director of JRMC from March 1, 1993 until October 1, 2003, then serving as Medical Director Emeritus until September, 2004. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Jefferson County and Arkansas Medical Societies, serving on the Council of the Arkansas Medical Society and with peer review and credentialing groups.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
His survivors include his wife, Eve Dilley Irwin; three sons, Scott Irwin, Raymond A. Irwin III, and Rob Irwin, all of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Lyn Webb of Little Rock and Jan Irwin of North Little Rock; one brother, Robert B. Irwin of Tyler, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Raymond Scott Gaddis, Lander Dilley Irwin, Robert Alexander Irwin, William Carter Irwin, Carson Hayes Irwin, Sarah Evelyn Irwin, and Alexandra Favre Irwin.
Services are Thursday, October 21 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Reverend Walter Van Zandt Windsor officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son. Visitation is Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Robinson's. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 West Third Avenue, Pine Bluff, AR 71601.

William Fredrick Frazier
December 10, 1945 - October 17, 2004

William F. "Fred" Frazier, 58, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Sunday, October 17, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Frazier was born December 10, 1945, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late William F. "Jelly" and Frances Roebuck Frazier. He was reared and received his education in Pine Bluff, where he graduated from Pine Bluff High School. He attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Over the years, Mr. Frazier was employed at several different retail paint stores, including Sherwin-Williams Company, Bryan Paint and Carpet, and Pine Bluff Paint Company.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.
Mr. Frazier is survived by one brother, James Frazier of Phoenix, Arizona; aunt, Christine Bass of Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Robinson's.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 20, 2004, 10:00 AM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Jimmy Watson officiating. Cremation will follow funeral service.

Velma Marie Koonce
August 31, 1934 - October 19, 2004

Velma Marie Koonce, 70, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at her home. She was born August 31, 1934, in Ladd, to the late Arthur and Della Burrow Jacks.
She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Watson Chapel High School.
She married Clifton Maurice Koonce, Sr., July 9, 1955, in Reno, Nevada. She spent her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was an avid fisherman. Mrs. Koonce was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Stephen Koonce; and a brother, Arthur Jacks.
Survivors include a son, Clifton Maurice Koonce, Jr. and his wife Daphne, of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Margaret Dee Ann Fannin of Tucker; a sister, Margie Spharler of Pine Bluff; and five grandchildren, Kevin, Rachael, & Rusty Koonce and Sarah & Joey Fannin.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 21, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held by Robinson's, Friday, October 22, 2004, at 10:00 AM at Harmony Cemetery.
