Tom Arsenios Priakos
February 18, 1917 - May 20, 2002

Tom A. Priakos, 85, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Born February 18, 1917, in Almyros, Greece, to the late Father Aristides Priakos and Fotine Vasiliades Priakos, he came to the United States with his family at age 4. He moved with them to Little Rock a few years later when his father became the priest for the Greek Orthodox congregation there. His father died in 1924 and the family moved to Pine Bluff to live with his mother's relatives, the Gus Pappas family. They lived with the Pappas family until after Mr. Priakos returned from his naval service.
He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. He became a United States citizen in 1935. As a young man, he worked in several fields before joining the United States Navy. He served in Panama and then as quartermaster 1st Class on the USS Lauderdale during World War II. After the war, he returned to Pine Bluff and entered the restaurant business here. He operated and managed Pine Bluff restaurants for 53 years, The Rendezvous at 1400 Main Street and Tommy's Drive-In at 812 Poplar Street.
Mr. Priakos married Juanita "Nita" Fokakis on September 25, 1949, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Mrs. Priakos died February 4, 1996. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Maestro Vasilios Priakos.
He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Little Rock.
Survivors include a son, Tommy A. Priakos, Jr. of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Kathryn "Katie" Priakos Harrison of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren, Ted, Thomas, and Nia Harrison of Houston.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Father Nicholas Verdaris officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Graceland Cemetery. A memorial prayer service will be held in Robinson's Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1100 Napa Valley Road, Little Rock, AR 72211.

Polly Carolyn Smith Tanner
August 11, 1925 - May 24, 2002

Polly Carolyn Smith Tanner, 76, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, May 24, 2002 at her home. She was born August 11, 1925 to George and Miriam Greenlee Smith in Rison, Arkansas.
She was reared and educated in Rison where she attended school. She married Carl George Tanner on July 28, 1941 in Rison.
Mrs. Tanner was a cosmetologist. She owned and operated Mona Lisa Cottage of Hair Design in Pine Bluff for 20 years before retiring in July of 2001.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Tanner is preceded in death by her parents, George and Miriam Greenlee Smith; brothers, Bobby Smith, Jessie P. Smith and a sister, Elva Jean Spadoni.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Tanner of Pine Bluff; son, Dr. Ronald Tanner of Arlington, Texas; daughters, Kay Brodnax of Rison, Lisa Taliaferro of Pine Bluff; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Graveside service, 11:00 AM, Monday, May 27, 2002, in Cypress Memorial Gardens.

Clifford Delmar Pennington
July 22, 1920 - May 25, 2002

Clifford Delmar Pennington, 81, formerly of 14715 Dollarway Road, died Saturday, May 25, 2002 at White Hall. He was born July 22, 1920 to John Monroe and Nellie Blake Pennington in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mr. Pennington was reared and educated in Hot Springs where he attended Pleasant Valley School. He married the former Wilma Marcrum on October 14, 1941 in Dumas.
Mr. Pennington was a farmer and later in his life a truck driver for 30 years before retiring in 1982. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1966 from Dumas.
Mr. Pennington was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his wife Wilma Marcrum Pennington; sons, Thurston and Hershal Pennington; parents, John Monroe and Nellie Blake Pennington; brothers, Nelson, Sherman, Verdell, Austin, Monroe and Herman Pennington and a sister Margie Beatty.
Survivors include his sons, Clifford W. Pennington of White Hall, Robert Pennington of White Hall, James Pennington of Emerson, (Columbia County), Mike Pennington of White Hall; daughters, Flora Cosby of Camden, Linda Welch of Bentonville, Carol Higginbotham of Little Rock, Cynthia "Cindy" Stucks of Warren; brother, Marvin Pennington of Dumas; twenty-six grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of Robert Pennington, 1506 James Drive in White Hall.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 6 to 8 PM at Ralph Robinosn and Son.
Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Ralph Robinson and Son Chapel with Reverend Leonard Ricketts officiating. Burial will follow in White Hall United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family ask that memorials take the form of contributions to the Diabetes. Association, Arkansas Affiliation, 212 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72205-1573.

Ima Jean Peterman
February 28, 1931 - May 31, 2002

Ima Jean Peterman, age 71, of Pine Bluff, passed away at her home Friday afternoon.
Jean was born February 28, 1931, in Nevada County Arkansas, near Hope, a daughter of C.A. And Melva Magalene Stewart May. She was reared in Hope and Bearden and received her education from the Bearden School System. Ima Jean married Willis G. Peterman on August 28, 1949 in Eagle Mills, Arkansas. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1949. They attended the Grace Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, the church clerk, and was the bible school director. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 7 years, as well at the camp director for 3 years. Ima Jean was president of the Little League Auxiliary and secretary for the Pony Tail Softball in White Hall.
Mrs. Peterman is survived by her husband, of 52 years, Willis; two (2) sons, W.G. (Nancy) Peterman, Jr of Nashville, Tennessee, and Bryan "Andy" Peterman of Pine Bluff; two (2) daughters, Glenda Jean (Gene) Earnest of Pine Bluff, and Roxane Hale of Judsonia, Arkansas; her mother, Melva May of Camden, Arkansas; one (1) brother, Darwin (Avie) May of Camden, Arkansas; and two (2) sisters, Virginia Kirk of Pahrump, Nevada, and Austie (John) Combs of Little Rock, Arkansas; ten (10) grandchildren, Donna Peterman, Robin Henry, Roger Evans, Daniel Evans, Brooke Hale, John David Hale, Sara Hale, Dayton Peterman, Christina Hill, Jerrica Mayer and two (2) great grandchildren, David Peterman and Taylor Peterman..
Funeral services will be on Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and
Son Funeral Directors at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be today, 2-5 pm. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.

Webster Nelson ( Lindy ) Lyche
February 13, 1914 - September 29, 2001

Webster Nelson "Lindy" Lyche, 87, of Austin, Texas, died September 29, 2001 in Austin. Born in Halton, North Dakota, on February 13, 1914, the son of the late Charles Albert and Elizabeth Ellen Nelson Lyche, his early education took place in Halton. He met his wife 56 years, Martha Frances Grothe Lyche, while stationed in Pine Bluff as an officer in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and she was a native of Pine Bluff and a civilian employee of the Air Corps. The couple was married in the First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff with a small reception following at Mrs. Lyche's mother's home.
After his Army service, he continued his education in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Lyche had a long career with Caterpillar, Corp. Mr. and Mrs. Lyche resided in many cities in the midwestern United States where Caterpillar assignments took the couple.
In 1977 he retired and the Lyches moved to Austin, Texas. Avid golfers, both Lyches enjoyed an active life in the Onion Creek golf community in south Austin. Mr. Lyche was instrumental in forming a Saturday Senior Golf Group there. Both worked as volunteers in the Legends of Golf Senior PGA tournament that was held for many years at Onion Creek. He was a charter member of American Legion Post #326 in Austin, a member of the Ben Hur Shrine Temple in Austin, and a member of Pine Bluff Lodge #69, Free and Accepted Masons.
Survivors include three sisters, Thelma Bickford of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Rachel Goodwin of Temple, Arizona, and Inez Hoff of West Covina, California; one brother, Charles Lyche of Spring, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. His wife died in 1999 in Austin. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Lyche, Charlotte Newell, and Avis Leslie, and by four brothers, Cyrus, Rolf, Prentice, and Wilhelm Lyche.
Visitation and funeral services were held in Austin. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 20, 2001, at Bellwood Cemetery in Pine Bluff with Reverend Jimmy Watson officiating, directed by Ralph Robinson & Son. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to a Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Ozell Clark Trammell
June 23, 1922 - June 01, 2002

Ozell Clark Trammell, 79, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday at Trinity Village Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Trammell was born June 23, 1922, in Conway, Arkansas, a daughter of the late John and Florence Cartwright Clark.
She was reared and received her early education in Conway.
Mrs. Trammell married Mr. Hershell H. Trammell on June 13, 1940, in Jefferson County and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2001.
Mrs. Trammell was a Homemaker and a member of Hazel Street Baptist Church (now Meadowview Baptist Church) where she was a Sunday School teacher and nursery worker.
She is survived by a son, David Fredrick Trammell of Abingdon, Maryland; a daughter, Trudy Beth Crouse of Marietta, Georgia; three brothers, Henry Clark of Klamath Falls,Oregon, Harrell Clark of Chicago, Illinois, Leon Clark of White Hall; five sisters, Leona Barrong of Grants Pass, Oregon, Marlena Abernathy of Conway, Mary Jones of Azalea, Oregon, Mada Belew of Marshall, Texas and Maxine Smith of Harrison; four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 2:00 PM, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors, with the Reverend John Burleson and Reverend W. C. Malone officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 6:30 to 8 PM Monday.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Meadowview Baptist Church, 7900 Middle Warren Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71603.

Valana Turchi Rinchuso
September 01, 1918 - June 02, 2002

Valana Turchi Rinchuso, 83, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1918 to Warren and Teresa Massanelli Turchi in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff where she attended Pine Bluff High School. She married Joseph J. Rinchuso on November 5, 1938 in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Rinchuso worked as a cashier for both Baim's 401 Supply & Baim's Department Store for over 30 years. She worked as an usher at the Pine Bluff Convention Center after her retirement.
Mrs. Rinchuso was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Altar Society, and a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Teresa Massanelli Turchi; husband, Joseph J. Rinchuso; brothers, Aldo and Nello J. Turchi and a sister, Zada Rinchuso.
Mrs. Rinchuso is survived by a son, James Edward "Eddie" Rinchuso of Pine Bluff; daughters, Patricia R. Elmore of Pine Bluff, Judy R. Ellison of Benton; brother, Valentino "Shorty" Turchi of Pine Bluff; sister, Mary Brock of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mass for a Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Andrew Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Joseph's Catholic School, P O Box 7434, Pine Bluff, AR., 71611.

Agnes Isabel Pierce McGann
February 22, 1909 - June 03, 2002

Agnes P. McGann, 93, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, June 3, 2002 at her home. She was born February 22, 1909 to Charles Arthur and Flora Irene Wingard Pierce in Jefferson County.
Mrs. McGann was reared and educated in the Watson Chapel area.
She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dan E. McGann, Sr. (who she married November 25, 1933), a son, Dan E. McGann, Jr. of Kingsland, two daughters, Helen J. Palmer of Pine Bluff, Irma Petty of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, one brother, Charles A. Pierce of Pine Bluff, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, with Brother Billy West offficiating. Burial will be in Fitzhugh Cemetery, by Ralph Robinson and Son.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's, Wednesday, 5-7 P.M.

Memorials may be made to Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 9127 Sulphur Springs Road, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.

Lila M. West
October 04, 1919 - June 03, 2002

Lila M. West, age 82, of Pine Bluff passed away Monday morning at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Lila was born October 4, 1919, a daughter of Bedford and Pearl Easterly Phillips in Pine Bluff. She was reared in Pine Bluff and Hardin and graduated from the Hardin High School. She married Rev. Halley O. West Sr. on June 14, 1941 in Pine Bluff. She enjoyed her life as a pastor's wife, mother. Lila was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse.
Mrs. West is survived by her husband of 61 years, Halley; one (1) daughter, Phyllis ( Travis) Smith, five (5) grandchildren and seven (7) great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one (1) son, Halley, Jr.; three (3) brothers and one (1) sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 6, 2002, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. The Rev. Terry Ivey, Rev. Travis Smith and Rev. Dale Hill will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
