Stanley Walton Corley
October 20, 1929 - June 06, 2002

Stanley Walton Corley, 72, a loving husband, father, and grandfather was taken away by angels to Heaven, Thursday, June 6, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Corley was born October 20, 1929, in Pine Bluff to the late William Leslie and Ethel Gould Corley. He was a native of Pine Bluff where he graduated from Pine Bluff High School. After high school he joined the United States Air Corps and served during World War II.
Mr. Corley was employed for 22 years by the Pine Bluff Fire Department. He retired from from there as a fireman in 1972. He then went to work as a Deputy Sheriff for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and worked there for seven years. He then served as Altheimer (AR) Chief of Police for 14 years before retiring in 1991. He then was employed by Jefferson Dental Lab for eight years before having to retire from there due to ill health.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a Past Master of the Robert E. Lee Lodge F&AM in Altheimer, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a Shriner. He was also a member of the V.F.W.
His survivors include his wife, Ivy W. Corley, whom he married August 16, 1980, in Pine Bluff; son, Dennis Corley of Pine Bluff; daughter, Barbara Clement of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Dana Floyd of Little Rock, Arkansas, Monica Corley of Pine Bluff, and Brad Clement of Rogers, Arkansas; and a brother, Vernon Corley of Sheridan, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two sisters.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Robinson's.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2002, at 2:00 PM, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverends Bert Thomas and Bill Corley officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Brenda Sanders Sipes
February 06, 1955 - June 06, 2002

Brenda Sipes, 47, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born February 6, 1955, in Pine Bluff. She was a daughter of Norman Ray and Maycel Sanders of Pine Bluff. She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School. She was the owner of Brenda's Antiques and Collectibles.
Brenda was preceeded in death by a brother, Norman Sanders.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Sipes of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Melanie Lunsford of White Hall; one grandson, Conner Lunsford of White Hall; her parents, Norman and Maycel Sanders; and four brothers, Johnny Burton of Texas, Bill Gresham of White Hall, Bob Gresham of Watson Chapel, and Wayne Gresham of Florida.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, June 10, 2002, at First Baptist Church of White Hall with Dr. Bob Harper officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2002 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son.

George Jefferson ( Jeff ) Ashcraft
June 10, 1911 - June 07, 2002

George "Jeff" Ashcraft, age 90, passed away Friday evening at Pathfinders Nursing Center.
Jeff was born June 10, 1911, in Bradley County, Arkansas, a son of Robert Nolan and Laura Jane Hayes Ashcraft. He was raised in Bradley and Cleveland Counties and attended Cleveland County Schools. Jeff was a member of the Armed Forces and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Ashcraft moved to Pine Bluff in 1955. Jeff retired from the Arkansas Department of Transportation in 1974 after 19 years of service.
Mr. Ashcraft was a Baptist.
Jeff is survived by two (2) sons, Earnest (Janetta) Ashcraft of Redfield, Arkansas and Gene (Janet) Ashcraft of White Hall.; three (3) daughters, Jewel ( Rodger) Stewart of Rison, Arkansas, Jinnie(Mark) Fallis of Pine Bluff and Ellie (Mark) Chambers of Quitman, Arkansas; eleven (11) grandchildren and one (1) great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three (3) brothers and five (5) sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with the Rev. Allan McKinley and Brother Clark Colbert officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prosperity Cemetery near Warren.
The family will receive friends at 3508 E. Lake Drive, Pine Bluff.

Minnie Biggs
December 29, 1913 - October 15, 2001

Minnie Biggs, 87, of Pine Bluff, died Monday October 15, 2001, at her home.
Born December 29, 1913, in Paris, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late Homer L. Green and Sally Franklin Green.
She was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Billy Biggs of Pine Bluff; four daughters, Virginia Wheeler of Heber Springs, Ruth Hill of Moore, Oklahoma, Pat Merritt of Pine Bluff, and Helen Robinson of Wabbaseka; two brothers, Bill Green and Murray Green, both of Paris, Arkansas; two sisters, Estelle Green of Fort Smith, and Velma Mayfield of Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Code James Biggs; one daughter, Lynn Biggs; three sons, C.J. Biggs, Carl Biggs, and Kenneth Biggs; one sister, Gladys Martin; and four brothers, Jeff Green, Arie Green, Virgil Green, and Allen Green.
Services are 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2001, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Jason Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ethan Joseph Small
May 22, 2002 - June 10, 2002

Ethan Joseph Small, 19 day old son of Michael M. and Patricia McArthur Small of Pine Bluff, died Monday night at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born May 22, 2002, in Little Rock, Ethan is also survived by a brother, Alex Michael Small of Pine Bluff; his grandparents, Bob and Jo Small and Homer and Wanda McArthur, all of Pine Bluff; and his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Womack of Danville, Arkansas.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Cemetery in Jefferson County by Ralph Robinson & Son, with Rev. Mack Chambers and Dr. Tim Goodman officiating. The family will be at the home of Brent and Pam Hall at 10 Stratford Lane in Pine Bluff. They request that memorials take the form of contributions to the Summit Baptist Church Building Fund, 1218 Main Street, Pine Bluff, AR 71601.

Billy Bob Manning
September 07, 1929 - June 10, 2002

Billy Bob Manning, 72, of 5408 Old Buncombe Road, Greenville, South Carolina, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Cherokee Indian Hospital.
Mr. Manning was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Duke and Myrtie Lee Elrod Manning. He retired from WYFF-TV4 where he was Maintenance Supervisor and a member of Hampton Park Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Claire M. Iler and husband Jerry of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; granddaughter, Patti Gibbons of Roswell, Georgia; aunt, Ruby Shannon of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Kathryn Dodd Manning, and a brother, Ray Manning.
Graveside services will be Monday, June 17, 2002, 11:00 AM, at Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Reverend Dick Couch will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends after the funeral service at the home of Janice White, 2100 West 26th Avenue, Pine Bluff.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Leslie Franklin Russell
February 08, 1919 - June 14, 2002

Leslie Franklin Russell, age 83, passed away Friday, June 14, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Leslie was born February 8, 1919, in Kingsland, Arkansas, the son of the late Edward and Beulah O'Neil Russell. He was reared and educated in Kingsland, graduating from Kingsland High School.
Mr. Russell married Vera Mae Smith on March 8, 1942, in Pine Bluff. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2001.
Leslie served in the European Theatre during World War II. He was in the Engineering Battalion of the First Division that saw combat at Omaha Beach and through the end of the war.
After the war, Mr. Russell returned to Pine Bluff and worked for the Finkbeiner Packing Company prior to starting Russell's Gulf Service Station in 1965. In 1970, he became the Gulf Oil Products Distributor for Southeast Arkansas. Then in 1973, he founded the Leslie F. Russell Oil Company of Pine Bluff. He retired from the Oil Company in 1985 after becoming ill.
Mr. Russell was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the John and Roy Horn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4455.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Lindsey, Stell, W.B., Clarence and Nelson Russell all of Fordyce.
Mr. Russell is survived by two sons, Jim Russell of Pine Bluff and Leslie Russell Jr. of North Carolina; two grandsons, Kenneth J. Russell of Star City and Petty Officer John Leslie Russell of Fort Gordon, in Augusta, Georgia; one sister in law, Nan Russell of Fordyce, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Leslie C. Russell of Star City and one great grandson, Austin K. Hayden of Whitsett, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2002, at 10:00 a.m, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverend Richard Pope officiating. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Anna Meeks Taylor
November 22, 1897 - October 13, 2001

Anna Meeks Taylor, 103, of Grandview, Missouri, died October 13, 2001. Born November 22, 1897 to Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Meeks of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she was reared and educated in Pine Bluff. She married the late Iverson L. Taylor in 1915. She was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff for many years. After her husband's death in 1975, she made her home with her daughter in Grandview and was active in St. Matthew Presbyterian Church there. Survivors include Wanda Silverthorn of Las Cruces, NM, and Mary Ann Burns of Grandview, daughters; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Following services in Grandview, graveside services were held Thursday, October 18, at 11:00 AM, directed by Robinson's.

Edward Eugene ( Gene ) Lyon
August 19, 1923 - June 23, 2002

Edward Eugene "Gene" Lyon, 78, a resident of Hot Springs and formerly of Altheimer died Sunday at Saint Joseph's Regional Health Center in Hot Springs. Born August 19, 1923 in Bucyrus, Ohio he was a son of the late Harley Nelson and Anna Marie Rice Lyon. Gene came to Arkansas in 1935 settling in Altheimer. He graduated from Altheimer High School in 1941. Gene married Agnes Gray Clary in Pine Bluff on February 27, 1948.
Gene served in the United States Army during World War ll. Upon returning to civilian life he went to work for the Elms Planting Company in Altheimer from which he retired as Vice-President and General Manager. Gene was also the owner of the Diantha Planting Company in Jefferson County.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Agnes Gray Clary Lyon of Hot Springs; 2 sons, H. Gene Lyon of North Little Rock and G. Scott Lyon of Little Rock; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom Norton of Hot Springs; 2 daughters, Marsha Ann Lyon of Mountain Home and M. Catherine Lyon of Bentonville; two brothers, Thomas A. Lyon of San Francisco, California and Lewis H. Lyon of Boise, Idaho; a grandson and spouse, Robert and Tracy Jones of Springdale; one grand-daughter and spouse, Melissa Gray and David Blandford of Wilmington, Ohio; 2 great grand-children, Heath and Madeline Blandford of Wilmington, Ohio.
A funeral mass was celebrated at 5:00 PM Monday, June 24, 2002 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Hot Springs with Msgr. Leo Reidmueller officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son of Pine Bluff. A Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff with Msgr.Leo Reidmueller officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son of Pine Bluff. Memorials may be made to the Altheimer United Methodist Church.

Cynthia Lawrence Hill
September 19, 1961 - June 25, 2002

Cynthia Lawrence Hill, 40, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at her home.
Born September 19, 1961, she was a daughter of William Robert "Bob" and Holly Stewart Lawrence. Cindy was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff. She moved to White Hall at the age of 14. She was a 1979 graduate of White Hall High School. Cindy worked 17 years at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at the University Hospital before transferring to the Pine Bluff UAMS- Area Health Education Center.Cindy was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Ronnie Hill, whom she married September 26, 1989 in White Hall; a daughter, Alisha Lynn Priddy of Sharon Pennsylvania; three step-daughters, Tonia, Rebecca and Monica Hill; two sisters, Debbie Farmer and Lori Turney, of White Hall; two nephews; and several step grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday June 29, 2002 at Memorial Park Cemetery with brother Gary Akers and Chaplain Gene Triplett officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son. The family will receive friends at #5 Patrick Henry Drive in White Hall.
Pallbearesr will be; Lindsey Turney, Lawrence Turney, Bryan Farmer, Richard Lawrence, Tommy Lawrence and Ralph Huneycutt.
