Nancy Jo Price Jehlen
June 05, 1930 - July 01, 2002

Nancy Jo Price Jehlen, 72, of Warren, Texas, died July 1, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center of East Texas at Lufkin, Texas.
Mrs. Jehlen was born June 5, 1930 to A. J. and Ione Owen Price in Cornerville, AR. She was a former resident of Port Arthur, Texas, and a longtime resident of Warren. She was a retired English teacher from Warren Independent School District, having previously taught in Port Arthur Independent School District and former member of TSTA and PTA in Port Arthur and board member of Warren Independent School District. She had been a silver sister of Alpha Delta Kappa, and a member of Tyler County Retired Teachers Association at Texas. She was also a member of Warren United Methodist Church in Texas.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Rex Jehlen, Sr. of Warren, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Joannie & Billy Atkinson of Warren, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Charlie & Sheri Jehlen of Groves, Texas; and five grandchildren, Brad Atkinson, Jennifer Atkinson, Meagan Jehlen, Chris Jehlen and Hannah Jehlen.
Funeral services will be at Wednesday, July 3rd at 7:00 PM at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home at Woodville, Texas, with Dr. Richard A. Burnham officiating. There will be a service Friday, July 5th at 2 p.m. at the White Hall United Methodist Church at White Hall. Burial will be in White Hall United Methodist Church Cemetery at White Hall by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors at Pine Bluff.
Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. until service time at Woodville at the funeral home. There will be a visitation at White Hall United Methodist Church Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be made to ADK Scholarship Fund, Post Office Box 575, Warren, Texas 77664.

Dorothy Elaine Strovers
July 21, 1932 - October 17, 2001

Dorothy Elaine Strovers, 69, of White Hall died Wednesday at her home. She was born July 21, 1932 in McGehee, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Delbert and Dorothy Leisure Creek.
Mrs. Strovers was reared and educated in McGehee where she graduated from McGehee High School. She married Vernon "Smokey" Strovers in 1972 in Texas. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1994. Mrs. Strovers retired in 1994 after 15 years as a private bookkeeper. She was a Baptist by faith.
Mrs. Strovers was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon "Smokey" Strovers.
She is survived by a son; Keith Durham of White Hall, daughters; Elaine Bowden of Hensley, Ann Durham of San Antonio, Texas, brother; Cotton Creek of McGehee, sister; Janie Herring of McGehee, and four grandchildren.
Memorial service being handled by Ralph Robinson and Son 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 20, 2001, in Robinson's Chapel. Reverend Jimmy Watson will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Mrs. Stovers residence, 2109 Whippoorwill Lane, White Hall, after the service.

Lee Donald Layson
June 22, 1903 - July 19, 2002

Lee Donald Layson, 98, of Wabbaseka died Friday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1903 to Leslie and Elizabeth Pfister Layson in Mason Illinois.
Mr. Layson was reared and educated in Mason, Illinois. He received his higher education from LaSalle University at Chicago, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Layson married the former Alice Mayleen Hays on February 3, 1949 in Pine Bluff. He worked for W. W. West Company as a bookkeeper until he retired in 1978. He also enjoyed working for the municipal government as City Recorder and Treasurer for Wabbaseka for 32 years.
Mr. Layson was a member of the Wabbaseka United Methodist Church where he served many years as Church Treasurer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Elizabeth Pfister Layson, and a brother, Lester M. Layson.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Hays Layson, of Wabbaseka; sister-in-law, Lelia M. Layson, of Mtn. Home, formerly of Pine Bluff; and caregivers, John and Sherry Layson and family, of Mtn. Home; sister-in-law, Reba Hazelip, of Pine Bluff; nephew, Jimmy (Helen) Hazelip and family of Cottonwood, Arizona; great niece, Laura (Russell) Bearden and family of White Hall; great niece, Carol Maurer of Danville, New Jersey; and a late great nephew's wife, Mrs. George Maurer and family of Searcy.
Visitation, Monday, 5 to 7 PM, at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Funeral services are 9 AM, Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Ralph Robinson's Chapel with Reverend George Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hildred Trotter
September 09, 1912 - October 20, 2001

Hildred Trotter, 89, of LaMar, formerly of Pine Bluff died Saturday at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville.
She was born September 9, 1912 to Oscar K. and Ellie Williams Langford. She was reared and received her early education in Hector. She married Thomas Melton Trotter, November 29, 1931 in Hector. He preceded her in death in 1966. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Leslie and Hob Langford.
Mrs. Trotter worked as a cook in the Dollarway Schools, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors; son, Charles Trotter of Pell City, Alabama, daughters, Floy Jones of Pine Bluff, Sue Albright of Clarksville, brother, Arbon Langford of Russellville, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services; 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Dr. J.R. DeBusk and Steve Monk officiating. Burial, Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 PM Monday, at Robinson's.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer Disease & Related Disease Association, the American Heart Association, or to the donor's favorite charity.

Ruth Bylander Hollis
December 23, 1921 - October 21, 2001

Ruth Bylander Hollis, 79, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, October 21, 2001, at her home. Born in Sedalia, Missouri, on December 23, 1921, to the late Ernest Gerhardt and Flora Elizabeth Schwald Bylander, she was reared and received her early education in Little Rock. She was a graduate of Little Rock High School (now Little Rock Central High School) and of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Mrs. Hollis attended the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, before joining the United States Navy in World War II. She received her naval basic training in New York before being transferred to Oakland, California. In Oakland she worked as an administrative assistant to the military police and to the diplomatic corps. Because she was from Arkansas, she was chosen to christen a Victory ship, the USS Pine Bluff.
She married Cal P. Hollis in 1945 in Oakland. She and Mr. Hollis moved to Pine Bluff in 1946. For a short time she was executive director of the Girl Scouts in Pine Bluff. She taught at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School in Pine Bluff for several years. Later she was a substitute teacher in the Pine Bluff School District and at Jefferson Preparatory School. She also served as executive director of CONTACT teleministries in Pine Bluff before retiring. Mr. Hollis died in Pine Bluff on January 10, 1986.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Pine Bluff. She was also a member for more than fifty years of Delta Gamma sorority.
Survivors include Betty Hollis Garman of Pine Bluff and Mary Cal Hollis-Frazer of Boulder, Colorado, daughters; Mack C. Hollis of Russellville, Arkansas, and Bob Hollis of Pine Bluff, sons; and eight grandchildren.
The family will be at the Garman home at 2401 Beau Monde in Pine Bluff. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff with Reverend Charles Settle and Reverend Roy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 8003, Pine Bluff, AR 71611, or to the donor's favorite charity.

George C. Litton
January 19, 1924 - August 10, 2002

George C. Litton, 78, a resident of Pine Bluff died Saturday, August 10, 2002 at his home.
George was born January 19, 1924 in Noble, Louisiana, the son of the late G.W. and Rebecca Higgonbottom Litton. He married the late Ruby Graham on April 8, 1945, in Shreveport Louisiana
Mr. Litton was reared and received his early education in Fisher, Louisiana. He graduated from Fisher High School and then served in the United States Navy during World War ll. After his military service he went to work for Cities Services Oil Company in Shreveport. In 1947, he moved to Pine Bluff where he worked as a chemist for the Cotton Belt Railroad until his retirement in 1983.
George was a long time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and he was also a member of the Rosswood Country Club.
George is survived by one son, Gary Charles (Nadean) Litton of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; one daughter, Ruby Kay (Jerry) Wayman of Holiday Island, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Steve (LeeAnn) Wayman, Debbie (Michael) Kaschik, Dawn Litton, and three great grandchildren, Mitchell and Nicholas Wayman and Alex Kaschik..
The graveside services will be at 11:30 AM Monday, August 12, 2002, at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend Richard Pope and Reverend Zig Johnson officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The visitation will be held Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church 3010 S. Hazel St. Pine Bluff Arkansas, 71603 or the Jefferson Regional Medical Center Hospice, 1515 W. 42nd St., Pine Bluff Arkansas, 71603.

Calvin Oliver Prince
November 01, 1928 - October 21, 2001

Calvin Oliver Prince, 72, of Pine Bluff died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born on November 1, 1928 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to the late Oliver and Ida Marlow Prince.
Mr. Prince was reared and received his education in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Cotton Plant High School. He married the former Ruby Swink on January 28, 1950 in Brinkley, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on November 30, 1997.
After moving to the Pine Bluff area, he went to work for Central Transformer (now Central Moloney). He was employed by Central Transformer for 20 years. He would later own a small grocery store and a tavern named Creamland Bar in Pine Bluff.
Survivors include son, Charles Ricky Prince of Jefferson, Arkansas; daughter, Alice Jeanette English of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; brother, Ira Prince of Biscoe, Arkansas; sister, Giva Cofield of West Monroe, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Ralph Robinson and Son from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 4:00PM in Biscoe Cemetery in Biscoe, Arkansas by Ralph Robinson and Son.

Robbie Lee Ashcraft Koonce
July 14, 1927 - August 26, 2002

Robbie Lee Ashcraft Koonce, 75, of 3103 Riverside Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Monday, August 26, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Koonce was born July 14, 1927, in Pansy, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Hattie and Della Shelby Ashcraft. She was reared and educated in Woodlawn. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1945.
Ms. Koonce worked for the Arkansas State Department of Correction for 14 years as a security guard in the Women's Unit, retiring in 1989. She also owned and operated the Ben Pearson Cafe for 27 years. She attended the Assembly of God church and was a member of the A.A.R.P. She enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Norton of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Margie Floyd of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Troy Ashcraft, and two sisters, Lois Spakes and Ruby Mitchell.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 PM at Robinson's.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 29, 2002, 10:00 AM, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverend Henry Bateman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
