Ann Lawing
February 02, 1914 - October 21, 2001

Ann Lawing, 87, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, October 21, 2001, at Trinity Village Medical Center. Born February 2, 1914, in Pine Bluff, she was the daughter of the late George R. Hill and Mary Borecky Hill. Mrs. Lawing was a lifetime resident of Pine Bluff, where she attended Pine Bluff High School. She was a self-employed seamstress for 30 years. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Fullbright Sunday School Class and Women of the Church. She was a past member of the American Business Women Association in the duBocage Chapter. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and traveling during her spare time.
Her survivors include a son, Charles F. Lawing, Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee, two daughters, Patsy Powers of Rison, Arkansas, Peggy Holden of Yulee, Florida, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert L. Hill of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, three sisters, Hazel McCook of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Dorothy Bragg of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Mary Fleming of Little Rock, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Lawing, Sr., two brothers, Martin Hill and George R. Hill, Jr., one sister, Willie Brown, and one grandson.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 11:00 A.M., at Central Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dan Loomis officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Robinson's. The family will be at the home of Patsy and Gary Powers, 330 Highway 212, Rison, Arkansas.

Louis Otto Bluerock, Sr
November 30, 1929 - August 31, 2002

Louis Otto Bluerock, Jr., age 72, of Conway, formerly of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday morning, at the Conway Regional Medical Center.
Louis was born November 30, 1929, the son of the late Louis O. and Geraldine Enderby Bluerock, Sr., in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff and graduated from the Pine Bluff High School class of 1947. Louis graduated from Arkansas A&M (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello) with his Baccalaureate in Education and received his Masters from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Mr. Bluerock was a teacher at Henderson State University, Pine Bluff Schools, and at the Star City School System for fifteen (15) years. He was Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Dumas for 24 years. Louis was a former member of Central Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff, the Star City Optimist Club, Dumas Lions Club, Arkansas and National Education Associations. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Conway.
Mr. Bluerock is survived by two (2) daughters, Beth Bluerock-Hays of Conway, Arkansas and Nancy Bluerock of Sherman, Texas; three (3) sisters, Barbara Harris of Pine Bluff, Mary Harris of Murfreesboro, North Carolina and Evelyn Crow of Leslie, Arkansas and two (2) granddaughters, Laura and Sarah Hays.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at Graceland Cemetery, Pine Bluff. The family will receive guests at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home, 807 Cherry Street, Monday from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church of Conway, 2400 Prince, Conway, Arkansas. The Reverend Rebecca Spooner will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Conway Building Fund, 2400 Prince, Conway, Arkansas, 72034.

Perry Dean Freeman
November 28, 1942 - September 06, 2002

Perry D. Freeman, 59, of 1620 N. Spears Street, Pine Bluff died Friday, at his home.
He was born November 28, 1942 in Coy, Arkansas to Edward Leo and Louise Schott Freeman.
He attended Wabbaseka schools. He worked for Central Maloney for 35 years.
He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of God, where he had served many years on the Trustee Board.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Brown Freeman, whom he married April 11, 1968, a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Pam Freeman of Benton, three brothers, Harold, Carrol Ray and J.L. Freeman, a sister, Patsy Freeman Bacon, all of Pine Bluff. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, at First Pentecostal Church of God, with Reverends Charles Scott, Donald Shipley, Ronald Grundy and Freddie Burcham.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son
Visitation: Sunday, 2-4 P.M. at Robinson's
Memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Church of God, 5400 W. Windham, Pine Bluff, AR 71602

James W. Cogbill
June 01, 1925 - September 05, 2002

James W. Cogbill, age 77, of Pine Bluff, passed away Early Thursday morning (September 5, 2002) at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
James was born June 1, 1925, the son of Delmon and Lillian West Cogbill in Star City, Lincoln County Arkansas. He was reared and educated between Star City and Pine Bluff. James married Irene Stephenson on April 16, 1946, in Ft. Smith. Mr. Coghill worked as a carpenter out of the Carpenters Union Hall in several states (Richmond, California, Oklahoma City, and Pine Bluff.) He received his 50 year pin in March 2002. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1968. He loved to hunt, fish and watch "Wild" west movies.
Mr. Cogbill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene; two daughters, Patsy Newby and Jorja Torres both of Pine Bluff; three grand-daughters and grandsons-in- laws, Ashley and Todd Prather, Courtney Torres-Brown (fiance Robby Ellison) and Janna and Bobby Wright all of Pine Bluff. and five great grandchildren.
Private services were held Friday, September 6, 2002, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son.

James Thomas Doss, Sr.
May 17, 1945 - September 09, 2002

James Thomas Doss, Sr., age 57, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday morning, September 9, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
James was born May 17, 1945, a son of the late Marvin Roy and Nellie Marie St. John Doss, Sr., in Warren, Arkansas. He was reared in Pine Bluff and graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1963. He volunteered for the US Air Force and serviced two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his military duty, James attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with his Baccalaureate degree in Political Science and Criminal Science. Mr. Doss went to work for the Pine Bluff Arsenal and retired as a Captain in the Police Department in 1991.
Mr. Doss is survived by his son, James Doss II of Pine Bluff; his mother, Mrs. Nellie Marie Singleton of Pine Bluff; one brother, Marvin R. (Barbara) Doss of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Mary (Delton) Stratton and LaNell Williams both of Pine Bluff; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Donald and Harold; and one sister, Bennie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, September 11, 2002, at 2:30 pm at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, 807 Cherry Street, Pine Bluff. Reverend Ricky Andreas will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery , 6707 Dollarway Road, Pine Bluff.

Dorothy Duff Bogy
July 01, 1911 - September 09, 2002

Dorothy Duff Bogy, 91, of Wabbaseka died Monday, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1911 in Wabbaseka to Lawrence Walker and Ella Mae Lytle Duff.
Mrs. Bogy was reared and educated in Wabbaseka where she graduated from Wabbaseka High School. She married Jesse Core Bogy on April 5, 1931 in Wabbaseka.
Mrs. Bogy worked as a Postmistress at the Wabbaseka Post Office for 32 years before retiring in 1978. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Wabbaseka United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for 42 years.
Mrs. Bogy is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Walker and Ella Mae Lytle Duff; brothers, Hoyt Duff, L. W. Duff, Jr., Edward Taylor Duff; sisters, Hazel Gibson, Lillian Ragland, and Lois Mosley.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Core Bogy of Wabbaseka; son, David Beauregard Bogy of El Cerrito, California; daughters, Barbara Thomas Lemmon of Dallas, Texas, Nancy Graham of Little Rock, Sara "Sally" Bonnett of Dallas, Texas; sister, Thelma Quillen of North Little Rock; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5 to 7 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Services are 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2002, Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend George Mitchell and Dr. Robert Clanton officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Bayou Cemetery.

Eleanor Jane Berry
August 12, 1918 - September 22, 2002

Jane Berry, age 84, of Pine Bluff, died at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Sunday, September 22, 2002. She was born August 12, 1918, in Benton, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Elzer and Laura Ely Ferguson.
She was reared and received her early education in Benton, Kentucky. She also attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.
Mrs. Berry moved to Pine Bluff in 1963. She owned and operated Berry Aviation of Pine Bluff for thirty-five years, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Reverend Gordon Topping officiating. Interment will be Thursday, September 26, 2002, at 2:00 PM, in Strow Cemetery in Benton, Kentucky by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday evening.

Marie A. Ferrara
March 05, 1908 - September 23, 2002

Marie A. Ferrara, 94, of Pine Bluff died Monday, September 23, 2002 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1908 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Joseph and Marguerite Pizzalato Ferrara.
She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff where she attended the Annunciation Academy and Judkin's School of Business.
Miss Ferrara worked at The Perdue Company in Pine Bluff for 65 years before retiring in 1995. While employed there she worked as an Executive Secretary, and Bookkeeper/Credit Manager.
Miss Ferrara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Altar Society and the Pilot Club.
Miss Ferrara is preceded in death by her parents, and her six sisters, Frances Mucaria, Josephine Calandrella, Laura Failla, Ann Johnson, Jane Ferrara, and Mary Virginia Ragar.
Survivors include her caregivers, George Patrick Johnson of Washington, DC,
Dr. William Ferrara Johnson of Yarmouthport, Massachusetts, Robert Joseph Johnson of Pine Bluff, Richard Mike Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee, Margaret Ragar Woodyard of Dumas, Anthony Ferrara Ragar of Cabot, Felton Henry Ragar of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Gloria Failla Kambur of Metairie, Louisiana, Harry Failla of New Orleans, Louisiana, Robert James Failla of Pine Bluff, and Joan Failla Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana.
There will be a vigil, 6:30 PM, Tuesday, at Ralph Robinson and Son.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at
St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Andrew Smith officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials take the form of contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 412 West 6th Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71601.

Evelyn Gray Fadick
March 21, 1920 - September 23, 2002

Evelyn Fadick, 82, of Gulfport, MS, former Pine Bluff resident, died Monday, September 23, 2002, in Gulfport.

Mrs. Fadick was a native of Roe, Arkansas, the daugter of the late Sam and Myrtle Fry Gray. She was a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1985. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, and later worked as a registered nurse at Driftwood Nursing Center in Gulfport. She was a member of Ramsey Springs United Methodist Church, and was an avid animal lover. In Pine Bluff, she was a longtime member of Lakeside United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Fadick was preceded in death in 1972 by her husband, Fred T. Fadick, Sr., and a grandson, Jonathan Temple Fadick. Survivors include two sons Greg Fadick, of Plantation, FL, and Ted Fadick of Keller, Texas; a daughter, Kate Fadick, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Lloyd "Jake" Gray, of Gulfport; and a grandson, Fred T. Fadick III.

Visitation will be at Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue in Gulfport, on Friday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. until a service at 11:00 AM there. Visitation in Pine Bluff will be Monday, September 30, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Ralph Robinson & Son. Graveside services will be at 11:30 AM Monday in Graceland Cemetery with the Reverend George Williams officiating, directed by Robinson's.
