Edward Ray Faver
August 12, 1948 - October 04, 2002

Edward Ray Faver, 54, a resident of England died Friday, October 4, 2002 in a Little Rock hospital. Born Aguust 12, 1948 in Pine Bluff he was a son of the late Marcus Dee Faver and Imogena Faver Butcho. He was reared and received his early education in Althiemer, and was a graduate of Althiemer High School. Mr. Faver also attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello, formerly Arkansas A. & M. Ray married the late Mary Joyce Crawford on July 5, 1993 at Eureka Springs.
Ray served in the United States Air Force for four years. He was also a lieutenant in the Arkansas Department of Corrections serving at the Tucker Maximum Security Unit. Ray worked for a time at the Althiemer Warehouse. In addition to this employment Ray was a farmer on the family farm in Swan Lake, Ar. Ray was an avid outdoorsman and a lifelong member of the Shady Oaks Hunting Club. His generosity and friendship touched many lives.
Mr. Faver was preceded in death by his loving wife of seven years, Mary Joyce Faver, and by his father. He is survived by his mother, Imogena Faver Butcho of England; two brothers, Mark Faver of Gethsemane, Ar. and Allen Faver of Little Rock.
The funeral will be at 2:00 PM Monday, October 7, 2002 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverend John Sandine and Mr. Vernon Tarver officiating. Burial will follow at Flat Bayou Cemetery. The visitation will be at Ralph Robinson & Son from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, October 6, 2002.

Leroy Allen
December 27, 1926 - October 29, 2001

Leroy Allen, 74, of Pine Bluff, died Monday at his home. He was born December 27, 1926, in Star City, Arkansas and was the son of the late Lee Allen and Hester Woodard Allen. Mr. Allen was reared and received his early education in Star City, having attended the Star City schools.
Mr. Allen was retired from the Arkansas Craft Paper Company, where he was a master electrician. He had also worked for McDonald-Douglas and Brown and Root Construction Company and T and N Electric Company.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife in 1995, Laura Frances Brewer Allen, whom he married July 1, 1954, in Pine Bluff, his parents and three brothers, Archie Allen, John T. Allen and William Amoson.
Mr. Allen is survived by two sons, George Terrance Allen of Center Ridge, Arkansas and John Timothy Allen of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Mary Archine Exum of Beulaville, North Carolina and Xandira Roxanne Neal of Bakersfield, California; two sisters, Helen Bush and Peggy Gardier both of Pine Bluff and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will Wednesday, 7:00 P M in the evening at Ralph Robinson & Son Mortuary with the Reverend M. D. Briam officiating. The body will cremated. The family will be at the home of John Allen at 9603 Huntley Trail, Pine Bluff.

Sammie Gray Keahey
September 10, 1923 - October 04, 2002

Sammie Gray Keahey, 79, of Grady, died October 4, 2002, at his home.
He was born September 10, 1923 in Monticello to Samuel George and Alice Gray Keahey.
He was reared and received his early education in Southeast Arkansas, graduating from Sherrill High School, and later received a degree from Purdue University. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer in aeronautics and robotics for All American Engineering in Wilmington,Delaware and then later for AMP in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, from which he retired.
He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, where he served in the Northern France and German Campaigns. He was awarded two Bronze Campaign Stars, Expert Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Ribbon, Purple Heart, and the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon.
He attended Grady United Methodist Church and was a member of the Grady Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Keahey of Grady (married October 7, 2001), a son, Stephen James Keahey of San Diego, California, a daughter, Roberta Keahey Smoker of Loudon, Tennessee, two step-sons, Wayne Keahey of Star City, Neal Keahey of Grady, two half-sisters, Ouida Johnson of Beeville, Texas, Mary Docia Keahey Williams of Vilonia, and two step-granddaughters, Katherine and Christine Boone.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, LaFawn Siegfried.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Monday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Reverend David Ashcroft officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Branch Cemetery in Grant County, by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors.

Suzanne O'Neal Corkins
April 02, 1945 - October 06, 2002

Suzanne O'Neal Corkins, 57 of Pine Bluff died October 6, 2002 after a 15 year bout with cancer.
She was born April 2, 1945 in Pine Bluff, to Granville and Bobbie O'Neal.
She is survived by her husband, N.Cliff "Corky" Corkins, a son, Brad Corkins, a step-son, Lee Corkins, a step-daughter, Kelly Railsback, and two grandchildren, Clay and Meagan Corkins of Pine Bluff. She was preceded in death by her mother.
She is a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and attended Henderson State University and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a degree in elementary education.
She was a former member of ABWA, Jefferson County Cancer and Lung Societies, Arkansas Public Health Association.
She worked for the Jefferson County Health Department and American Cancer Society.
She was a substitute teacher at White Hall, and taught at the Annunication Academy and the Pine Bluff Public Schools. She retired from teaching in 2001.
Memorial services will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at Lakeside United Methodist Church with the Reverends George Williams, Ted DeWeese and Mary Susan Hilliard officiating. Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to the Wesley Sunday School Class, at Lakeside United Methodist Church, or to the donor's favorite charity.

Iva Lee Arther
December 11, 1916 - October 06, 2002

Iva L. Johnston Arther, 85, of Grady, Arkansas, died Sunday, October 6, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff.
Born December 11, 1916, at Tichenor, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Lelia Francis Bitely Johnston.
She was reared and educated in Gillett, Arkansas. She married John E. Arther on April 24, 1936 in Tichenor, Arkansas. They moved to Grady in 1954. She was a homemaker and a member of Campshed Methodist Church. She attended Linwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed raising chickens and gardening.
Her survivors include two daughters, Earvena Arther Brown of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Earlene Arther Brown of Grady, Arkansas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Arther, who passed away July 29, 2001, two infant sons, Edward Hugh and Vernon Wayne Arther, four brothers, and one sister.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 8, 2002, 6-8 P.M., at Robinson's.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2002, 1:00 P.M., Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Lex Eaker officiating. Interment will follow at Hockenberry Cemetery in Nady, Arkansas.
The family will be located at the home of Earvena and Kenneth Brown, 4416 West 28th Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Van C. Dunn
July 13, 1942 - October 04, 2002

Van C. Dunn, of Wichita, KS, died Friday, October 4, 2002 in Wichita, KS. He was the son of Ocie Browning of White Hall, AR and the late Van C. Dunn.
Mr. Dunn was born July 13, 1942 in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1982. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Dunn was employed by Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas.
Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife, Patsy Link Dunn of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Gail Poe and Laura Heath of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, JoAnn McGeorge of Pine Bluff, AR, Debbie Levy of Little Rock, AR; brother, Tom Browning of Bearden, AR; step-brother, Willie Browning of Bull Shoals; step-sisters, Tina Goss and Diane Ridgway of Pine Bluff, AR; and nine grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Dunn will be handled by Resthaven Mortuary, Inc. Of Wichita, Kansas, with the family requesting memorials to be made to the American Heart Association, 909 West 2nd St., Little Rock, AR, 72201.

Lura George Brown
January 01, 1911 - October 08, 2002

Lura George Brown, 91, of Pine Bluff died Tuesday at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 1, 1911 in Humphrey to James William and Emma Rowe George.
She was reared and received her early education in Humphrey, and then moved to Pine Bluff in 1932. She worked as a Nurse for Jefferson Hospital for 14 years, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, where she had taught the Ladies Sunday School Class.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Smith, and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George David Brown.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Brother Ron Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's, Thursday evening, 6-8.
The family ask that memorials go to Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Youth Department, Upper Room, 5510 West Malcomb Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71602.

Emil S. Burns
May 19, 1914 - October 08, 2002

Emil S. Burns, Age 88, of North Little Rock, formerly of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday at the Central Arkansas Veterans Hospital.
Emil was born May 19, 1914, a son of James and Lucy Barnes Burns in Taylor, Arkansas. He was reared in Taylor and attended school in Springhill, Lousiana. Emil married Orlene Coyle on October 31, 1940 in Taylor, Arkansas. She preceded in him death on December 27, 1999. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1965. Emil worked as a building contractor with Professional Builders. He retired in 1980. Mr. Burns was a member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mr. Burns is survived by a daughter, Kay Hodges of Denham Springs, Lousiana, two grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Dale Burns, a grandson, Justin Carl Shirley, four brothers, Andy Burns, Fred Burns, Lloyd Burns and Jesse Burns and five sisters, Mary Souter, Eva Wise, Esther Connelly and twin infant sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, October, 11, 2002, at 12:00 Noon, at the Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, Lousiana. The visitation at Bailey Mortuary, 304 1st Street, NW, Springhill, LA. on Friday from 9:30 - 11:30 am. In Pine Bluff, the family will receive guests at the home of Ronnie Womack, 8410 Gaddy Koonce. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery.

Arthur E. Leath
August 27, 1909 - October 12, 2002

Arthur E. Leath, 93, of 510 Brookside Drive in Little Rock, Arkansas, longtime Pine Bluff resident, died Saturday, October 12, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born August 27, 1909 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Edgar Ellsworth and Laura Belle Johnson Leath. He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, where he graduated from Pine Bluff High School.
Mr. Leath married Florence L. Kennedy on June 5, 1932, in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Leath died January 9, 2000.
Mr. Leath joined the St. Louis-Southwestern (Cotton Belt) Railroad as a young man becoming a professional blacksmith. He retired as the assistant general car foreman in Pine Bluff for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1971.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pine Bluff. He served as a Pine Bluff City Alderman for 16 years and was a former 12 year member of the Pine Bluff Civil Service Commission. He was a lifetime member of the Pine Bluff Masonic Lodge #69, F& AM; the York Rite Bodies of Pine Bluff; the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Little Rock; and the Pine Bluff Lodge and Jacob Brump Lodge Joint Board of Directors. He was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #40. He was a past Eastern Star Grand Patron of Arkansas.
Survivors include Everett Leath of Little Rock, son, and two grandchildren, Kay Bowen of Little Rock and Tom Leath of Conway; and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne E. Leath, and a sister Pansy A. Leath Woolems Littleton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Robinson's.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 16, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Charles T. Settle officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Order of the Eastern Star Benevolent Fund through your local OEO chapter.
