Nellie Payne
February 06, 1917 - November 01, 2001

Nellie Payne, 84 of Pine Bluff died Thursday. She was born February 6, 1917 in Texarkana, Arkansas to the late Roy West and Arkie West Reed. She was reared by Robert Reed from a young age.
She was reared and received her education in Texarkana and McGehee, Arkansas. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Payne, son, Michael Payne and a baby, Frank Payne, Jr..
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Huffman of White Hall, Arkansas, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 10:00 AM in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son. Reverend Gordon Topping will officiate.

Bertha Lavonia Abernathy
November 05, 1903 - December 03, 2002

Bertha Lavonia Abernathy, age 99, of Pine Bluff, passed away early Tuesday morning, at the Arkansas Convalescent Center .
Mrs. Abernathy was born November 5, 1903, a daughter of the late Joe and Etta Duncan Wilson in Sheridan, Arkansas. She was reared and educated in Sheridan. She married Percy J. Abernathy on April 9, 1926 in Pine Bluff. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1977..
They farmed at Noble Lake for many years. Mrs. Abernathy was a charter member of Linwood Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Percy Abernathy, Jr. of Pine Bluff ; two (2) grandchildren and five (5) great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Abernathy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Floyd Preston Wilson; two sisters, Thelma Jo Fountaine and Jamie Ward.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2002, at 10:00 am, at Graceland Cemetery, 2118 West Pullen, Pine Bluff. Directed by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Reverend Lex Eakers will officiate.
Memorials should be made to the Linwood Baptist Church, 8932 Highway 65 South, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603 or to the Donor's choice.

Lucille Davis Dunkum
January 05, 1919 - December 05, 2002

Lucille Davis Dunkum, 83, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, December 5, 2002, at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born January 5, 1919, in Kennett, Missouri, to the late Arthur Cummings and Marguerite Dobbins Davis, she was reared and received her early education in Humphrey, Arkansas, and in Pine Bluff. She married Vador Blanton Dunkum, Jr., in Pine Bluff on September 22, 1940, and they made their home in Pine Bluff. Mr. Dunkum died January 12, 1961.
Mrs. Dunkum was a homemaker who worked as a secretary after Mr. Dunkum's death. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church where she was a member of United Methodist Women and the Loafers.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three sons, Vador Blanton Dunkum, III, of San Jose, California, David Michael Dunkum and wife, Valerie, of Summit Point, West Virginia, and Gregory Davis Dunkum and wife, Beverly, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Angela Christian Dunkum and Gregory Alan Dunkum of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and three sisters, Janette Davis Musiello of Naples, Florida, Carolyn Davis Alonge of Brooklyn, New York, and Marlene Davis Magnan of Naples, Florida.
Services are Monday, December 9, 2002, at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverend Ted DeWeese officiating. Private interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 1500 Olive Street, Pine Bluff, AR 71601, the American Diabetes. Association, or the American Cancer Society.

Harold Frank Hogue
August 31, 1921 - December 05, 2002

Harold Frank Hogue, 81, of Little Rock died Thursday at his daughters house. He was born August 31, 1921 in Wilmar, Arkansas to William C. and Annie Halley, Hogue, Sr.
Mr. Hogue was reared and educated in Pine Bluff where he graduated from Watson Chapel High School.
He married the former Nell Fisher on May 15, 1946 in Pine Bluff.
Mr. Hogue served during World War II in the United States Air Force. He was a Prisoner Of War in Japan and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He worked for the United States Postal Service in Pine Bluff for 30 years, before retiring.
Mr. Hogue was a member of the First Baptist Church in Little Rock.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Annie Halley, Hogue, Sr.; a brother, Bobby Hogue; sisters, Martha Albright and Mildred Shollmier.
Mr. Hogue is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nell Fisher Hogue of Little Rock; daughters, Barbara McNeal of Walnut Ridge, Judy Davis of Little Rock; brother, William C. Hogue, Jr., of Pine Bluff; sister, Virginia Fort of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 PM, at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Graveside service, 10:00 AM, Monday, December 9, 2002 at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend Gary Akers officiating.

Muriel E. Hall
April 12, 1925 - December 08, 2002

Mrs. Muriel E. Hall, age 77, of Pine Bluff, passed away early Saturday morning at her home.
Muriel was born April 12, 1925, a daughter of the late Joseph Snider and Jeannie Guy Bottom in Graniteville-Barre, Vermont. She moved to Pine Bluff as a child and attended Pine Bluff High School. After high school, Miss Bottom went to work for Davis Hospital until her marriage to Malcom Earl Hall on September 24, 1944 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1987. After Mr. Hall's military tour of duty they returned to Pine bluff, where she has lived out her lifetime. Muriel was a homemaker and loving mother throughout her life. She was a member of the Olive Street Baptist Church,
Mrs. Hall is survived by two sons, David Hall of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Wendell "Buster" Hall of North Little Rock; two daughters, Debbie Morrow of Waco, Texas, and Cindy Plunkett of Star City, Arkansas; one brother, Joe Guy Bottom of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two sisters, Margaret Oliger of Kingsland, Arkansas, and Betty Nugent of Camden, Arkansas; seven (7) grandchildren and three (3) great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Hilliard Bottom and one sister, Dorothy Furgason.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, December 10, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors, 807 Cherry Street. The Reverend Roger Stewart, will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon, 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery, Pine Bluff.

James Gordon Culpepper
October 28, 1911 - December 08, 2002

Mr. J. Gordon Culpepper,age 91, of Pine Bluff, passed away, early Sunday morning, at Trinity Village Medical Center.
Mr. Culpepper was born October 28, 1911, a son of the late LeRoy and Mabel Higgins Culpepper in Faith, Arkansas. He was raised and educated in Faith, prior to moving to Pine Bluff. He married Natalie Stone in May 1928 in Pine Bluff. She preceded him in death on October 19, 1990. Gordon worked with his father-in-law in the family dairy, then worked for Ben Pearson and Somcomi Coffee. He retired in October 1978, when he closed the Culpepper Grocery Store in Watson Chapel. He was a charter member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Trustee, and Bookkeeper.
Mr. Culpepper is survived by one daughter, Marlene Culpepper-Venus of Jacksonville, Arkansas; one sister, Maggie Mae Greenleaf of Red Bluff, California; five (5) grandchildren and eight (8) great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Gordon Jr. and one grandson, Charles Fredrick.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2002,at 10:30 am, at Watson Chapel Baptist Church, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, Pine Bluff. Reverend M. L. Faler and Reverend Edward Hinkson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Pine Bluff.
The family will be at the home of Mrs. Jan Robinson, 4301 Ryburn Road, Pine Bluff.
Memorials should be made to: Watson Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.

Jettie Marie Ham
September 09, 1913 - December 12, 2002

Jettie Marie Ham, 89, of Pine Bluff died December 12, 2002, at Conway Health Care and Rehab Center in Conway, Arkansas.
She was born September 9, 1913 in Sedgewickville, Missouri, to the late Eli and Evaline Niswonger Seabaugh.
She was reared and received her early education in Jackson, Missouri. She married Harvey Ham on July 3, 1937, in Chaffee, Missouri. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1939.
She had worked in sales for Olan Mills Studio and was a volunteer worker for the the Pine Bluff Community Concert Association.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pine Bluff.
Survivors are a son, Harvey Ham of Pine Bluff, two sisters, Virgie Templeton of Cape, Girardeau, Missouri and Myrtle Allen of Jackson, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite Smith, and a brother, Truman Seabaugh.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM on Monday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Reverends Mitch Shelburn and Delores Stroud officiating. Burial will be private at Lightner Cemetery in Illmo, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

Bennie Jean Pierce Blackerby
October 05, 1921 - December 13, 2002

Bennie Jean Pierce Blackerby, 81, of Maumelle, Arkansas, and formerly of Altheimer died Friday, December 13, 2002, in Maumelle.
Born October 5, 1921, in Grapevine, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Eva Pierce. She was reared and received her early education in Grapevine and attended Grapevine High School. She married Thurman Carter Blackerby in Grapevine on September 17, 1938. They moved to Altheimer in 1952.
Mrs. Blackerby worked for Martin Brothers Gas and for Synergy Gas Company. She was the bookkeeper for the Altheimer office of Martin Brothers and Synergy for 34 years until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of the Altheimer United Methodist Church until her move to Maumelle where she became a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Blackerby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Truman Clement. Survivors include two daughters, Bettye Nelson, and son-in-law, Bill, of Maumelle, and Joan Nichols and son-in-law, John, of Little Rock; one brother, Milford Pierce and wife, May Lee, of Grapevine; sister, Ada Mae Banks of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren, Sherri Nelson Keesee and husband, Scott, Kimberly Nelson Reynolds and husband, John, Benjamin, Matthew, and Jeffrey Nichols; seven great-grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors (online register: www.ralphrobinsonandson.com) in Pine Bluff with the Reverend Jerry Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Clement Cemetery near Grapevine. The visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2002 at Ralph Robinson & Son. Pallbearers will be her nephews. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Bill Tranum and his staff, and to Arkansas Baptist Hospice. Memorials may be made to Altheimer United Methodist Church, 502 W. Front St., Altheimer, AR 72004, or the United Methodist Children's Home.
