LUCY WARD

STAMPS, Ark. - Lucy Ward, 92, of Stamps died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in a Magnolia, Ark., hospital.

Mrs. Ward was born April 26, 1911, in Athens, La. She was a member of Greenville Baptist Church, where she was a mission sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyree Ward; and two sons, William Ward and Jimmy Lee Ward.

Survivors include five sons, Elder Melvin Ward, Calvin Ward, John Ward and Wilson Ward of Stamps and Arvester Ward of Tyler, Texas; and one daughter, Jearlene Ward of Stamps.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Fred Williams and Elder Melvin Ward officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

EVELYN HILDEBRAND

PRESCOTT, Ark. - Nevada Evelyn Grayson Hildebrand, 83, of Prescott died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at her home.

Mrs. Hildebrand was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Prescott. She was a retired certified nurse's aide and a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyce Stell Hildebrand.

Survivors include one daughter and son - in - law, Janet Lynn and Alex Gordon of Prescott; one brother, Bobby Ronald Grayson of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Francis Harvey of Prescott; two grandchildren and grandchildren - in - law, Alexander Tate and Jennifer Lea Gordon of Sheridan, Ark., and Katie Lynn and Richard Anderson of West Monroe, La.; four great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jerry G. Westmoreland and Jeremy Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery, Bluff City, Ark.

ERMA JOSEPH

ASHDOWN, Ark. - Erma Jean Winfrey Joseph, 55, of Baton Rouge, La., died Friday, April 9, 2004, in a Texarkana hospital.

Ms. Joseph was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Ashdown. She was a schoolteacher.

Survivors include one daughter, Felecia Joseph of Baton Rouge; her mother, Lepha Mae Winfrey of Ashdown; one brother, Curtis Winfrey of Ashdown; one sister, Ollie Laverne Gulley of Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren.

Closed casket services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Earl Jones officiating. Burial will be in Newson Cemetery under direction of Moore's Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

HAYES SMITH

HOPE, Ark. - Hayes C. Smith, 79, of Hope died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in a local hospital.

Mr. Smith was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Winnsboro, La. He was a member of New Testament House of Prayer.

Survivors include his wife, Arnett Smith of Hope; four sons, Issac Ray Smith and Hayes Smith Jr. of Dallas and Charles Smith and Leon Smith of Hope; two daughters, Ethel Vickers and Vera McNeal of Hope; one sister, Racheal Ratcliff of Dallas; two brothers, Earl K. Smith of Dallas and S.W. Smith of Philadelphia; 28 grandchildren; 16 great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at New Testament House of Prayer, Guernsey, Ark. Burial will be in Westmoreland Cemetery, Fulton, Ark., under direction of Hicks Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

ED WILLIAMS

Ed Williams, 89, of Texarkana, Ark., died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at his home.

Arrangements are pending with Lyles Funeral Home.

MARY WILLIAMS

MURFREESBORO, Ark. - Mary Jackoline Cogdell Williams, 78, of League City, Texas, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, in Houston.

Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Roy, Ark. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Williams Taylor and Audria Williams Dinwiddie of Houston; two brothers and one sister - in - law, Billy and Naomi Cogdell of Athens, Texas, and Bobby Cogdell of Murfreesboro; two granddaughters, Angela Dinwiddie and Elizabeth Taylor of Houston; one grandson and granddaughter - in - law, Robert and Irene Taylor of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roy Cemetery, near Nashville, Ark.

JEARLENE WARD

STAMPS, Ark. - Jearlene Ward, 65, of Stamps, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, at her home.

Arrangements are pending with Smith Funeral Home.

JOHN MARQUARDT

CINCINNATI - The Rev. John. J. Marquardt, 84, of Cincinnati, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, in Cincinnati.

Rev. Marquardt was born April 13, 1920, in Chicago. He was a home mission priest with Glenmary Home Missioners assigned to Atlanta, Texas, from 1983 - 1995.

Survivors include one sister, Mary June Mitchell of Morton Grove, Ill.

Mass was said April 21 at St. Matthias Church. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery under direction of Schmidt Dhonau Funeral Home.

JAYDA ROBINSON

ASHDOWN, Ark. - Jayda LouAnn Jester Robinson, 1 - year - old daughter of Demetrius Robinson and Tonya Jester of Ashdown, died Saturday, April 24, 2004.

Jayda was bon March 5, 2003, in Texarkana. She was a Christian.

Other survivors include one sister, Melissa Ann Coleman of Ashdown; and her grandparents, Bill and Glenda Jones of St. Michaels, Md., Norman and Linda Jester of Ashdown and Parthene Robinson of Texarkana.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Ashdown Cemetery with the Rev. Butch Riddle officiating. Burial will be under direction of Madden Funeral Services.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

FRANCES WRIGHT

ASHDOWN, Ark. - Frances L. "Frankie" Wright, 80, of Ashdown, died Friday, April 23, 2004, in Ashdown.

Mrs. Wright was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo. She was a member of Ashdown Golf Club and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Wright Jr.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter - in - law, Fred C. III and Annie Wright of Melbourne, Fla., and Calvin E. Wright of Vancouver, Wash.; one brother and two sisters - in - law, Zane Dale and Charly Marie Wright of Holly Hills, S.C., and Elaine Wright of Ashdown; 14 grandchildren; 16 great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Ashdown Cemetery with Allen Green officiating. Burial will be under direction of Madden Funeral Services.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the home of Mrs. Buck Wright, Ashdown.

DORA DORSEY

DE QUEEN, Ark. - Dora Dorsey, 96, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, April 25, 2004, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mrs. Dorsey was born Feb. 4, 1908, in Enid, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.F. Dorsey.

Survivors include one son, Lawrence Dorsey of Texarkana; two grandchildren, Gayla Book of Texarkana and Archie Dorsey of Lockesburg, Ark.; and four great - grandchildren, Corrine Book, Lorne Book, Jason Dorsey and Tracie Sutton.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today in Greens Chapel Cemetery, Dierks, Ark., with the Rev. William V. Garner officiating. Burial will be under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Barbara E. Pettigrew, 74, of Texarkana, Ark., died Monday, April 26, 2004, in a local hospital.
