Barbara Dean Davis
February 28, 1945 - January 30, 2002

Barbara Dean Davis, 56, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at her home in Altheimer.
Mrs. Davis was born February 28, 1945, in Sherrill, AR, the daughter of Willie "Bill" and Faye Morgan Bolin. She was reared in Sherrill and graduated in 1963 from Altheimer High School. Barbara married Todd Davis on December 27, 1963 in Sherrill. They owned and operated Davis Merchantile in Altheimer until 1985. Davis Merchantile was a family business that was started over 100 years ago. She presently was working, in White Hall, AR, as the office manager for Mallard Express, formerly the Altheimer Oil Company. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Altheimer United Methodist Church, where she was the treasurer. She was a life-time member of the United Methodist Women's Ministry.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 38 years, Todd Davis of Altheimer; two sons, Brian (Melody) Davis of Harrison, AR and Neil (Tammy) Davis of Bryant, AR; one daughter, Lori (Joe) Clements of Jonesboro, AR; her mother, Faye Bolin of Pine Bluff; three brothers, Willie (Alice) Bolin Jr. of Ocean Springs, MS, T. J. (Carolyn) Bolin of Sherrill, AR and Billy (Claudette) Bolin of Pine Bluff, AR; three sisters, Nina (Ray) Talley of Shallow Water, TX, Joyce (Hank) Kalkbrenner of Pine Bluff, AR, and Linda Lindsey of Van Buren, AR; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2002, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home, 807 Cherry Street, PineBluff, AR with Rev. John Sandine officiating.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, 2118 West Pullin, Pine Bluff, AR.
Memorials should be made to the Altheimer United Methodist Church, 502 West Front Street, Altheimer, AR.

Charley Williams
August 11, 1920 - January 30, 2002

Charley Williams, 81, of 2804 Kimberly in Pine Bluff died Wednesday at Pathfinders Health Care.
He was born August 11, 1920, in Gilbert, Louisiana, to John Edwin and Flora Jane Crane Williams.
He was reared and received his early education in Gilbert, Louisiana, and Lake Village, Arkansas. He married Lessie J. Hollis, March 2, 1947, in Greenville, Mississippi. They moved to Pine Bluff in the 1950s.
He was a truck driver for Arkansas Power and Light, retirng in 1984.
Mr. Williams was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake Village, and attended First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. He was a member of Pine Bluff Lodge #69 F.&A.M.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Dianne Morris of Pine Bluff, a son, Aurby Ray Williams of Batesville, Arkansas, a sister, Floy Duncan of Meridan, Mississippi, a brother, B.R. Williams of Stevenson, Alabama, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Charles Williams, and five brothers.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Friday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Dr. David Harris officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son. Memorials may be made to First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1500 W. 73rd, Pine Bluff, AR 71603

Jo Anne Mitosinka
July 22, 1925 - January 31, 2002

Jo Anne Mitosinka, 76, of Pine Bluff died January 31, 2002 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Born July 22, 1925 in Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the late Harvey M. Milner and Helen Henderson Milner.
Mrs. Mitosinka was a retired school teacher. She received her BSE from Arkansas State Teachers College, (now UCA) and her Master's Degree at the University of Houston. She taught in Texas for a number of years before returning to Pine Bluff in 1952. She taught Home Economics for Pine Bluff Public Schools, retiring from Pine Bluff High School in 1985. She was also a past chairman of the Home Economics Department for Pine Bluff Schools.
Mrs. Mitosinka was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Pine Bluff Duplicate Bridge Club, and the American Duplicate Bridge Club. She was the Arkansas Home Economics Teacher of the Year in 1975, and a member of the Retired Teacher's Association.

She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church of Pine Bluff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mitosinka, and one brother, Maurice Milner.
Survivors include her son, Harvey Mitosinka of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Lynette Attardo of Pine Bluff and Vonda Taylor of Clearwater, Florida and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at Robinson's.
Services will be 10:00 AM Monday at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Reverend Ted DeWeese officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery by Robinson's.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 1500 Olive Street, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.

Antoinette Marie Turchi
June 13, 1927 - February 04, 2002

Antoinette Marie Rinchuso Turchi, 74, of 912 Nebraska, Pine Bluff, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in North Little Rock on Monday. Mrs. Turchi was born June 13, 1927, in Pine Bluff, to the late Rosalino Russell and Laura Lupo Rinchuso.
Mrs. Turchi was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She was a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff and had worked for Federal Compress as a bookkeeper for thirty-five years before retiring in 1980.
She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and the St Joseph Altar Society.
Mrs. Turchi was preceded in death on March 29, 1982, by her husband, Frank James Turchi, whom she married January 17, 1948.
Mrs. Turchi is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Turchi of Bartlett, Tennessee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Scott Cooper, Sr. and Cindy and David Craft III all of Little Rock; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Mary Faye Rinchuso of Maumelle, Arkansas; four grandsons, Bo Turchi, David Craft IV, Jeff Craft and Scott Cooper II; two granddaughters, Laura Craft and Leslie Cooper and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 8, 2002, at St Joseph Catholic Church at
10:00 AM with Father Andrew Smith officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday evening at Ralph Robinson & Son Chapel. The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to St Joseph Catholic Church, 412 West 6th Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas,71601 or Christ The King Catholic Church, 4000 North Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72212.

Nedgie Goodman Cearley
May 31, 1928 - February 10, 2002

Nedgie Goodman Cearley, 73, died February 10, 2002 at her home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. She was born in Grapevine, Arkansas on May 31, 1928, the daughter of the late Dreyfus and Maysel Benfield Goodman.
Nedgie was dedicated to her family, and they always came first in her life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and much beloved "Granny". Nedgie was a great storyteller and even better listener. In her home, the kitchen table was the setting to share problems, stories, joy and laughter. The love and memories we all share will be with us forever.
She is survived by Charlie M. (C.M.) Cearley, her husband of 58 years; children, Carol Kincade of Metamora, Michigan, Loxi Webb of Durant, Oklahoma, Ed Cearley of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Mark Cearley of Canton, Georgia; son-in-law, Darrell Kincade and daughters-in-law, Mary Margaret Cearley and Leslie Cearley; sisters, Mary Kathleen Taylor and Ruth Ross; grandchildren, Ashley Kincade, Noah Kincade, Kimberly Sommers, Brandon Webb, Alexander Webb, John Cearley, Adam Cearley, Sean Cearley, and Sarah Cearley. Her son, Matthew, and sister, Nelda Jo Eastwood, preceded Nedgie in death.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 2:00 PM by Rev O. J. Ramick at the Sardis Baptist Church in Grapevine, Arkansas, with interment at Ramick Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Henery Loyd Austin
May 29, 1919 - February 14, 2002

Loyd Austin, 82 of Black Oak, Arkansas died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro.
Mr. Austin was born May 29, 1919 in Mississippi to Eli Saxton and Dora Tennel Austin. His family moved to Helena, Arkansas where he attended school. He married the former Annie Marie Harrison on May 9, 1941 in Star City.
Mr. Austin was a retired farmer from Star City and had worked in the construction field as a heavy equipment operator for a short period of time.
They eventually moved to Pine Bluff and lived here for 32 years, before moving to Black Oak to be near their daughter.
Mr. Austin was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Marie Harrison Austin of Black Oak, Arkansas; son, Gerald Austin of Gilmer, Texas; daughter, Joyce Holst of Black Oak; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 4 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, February 18, 2002 at Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Jimmy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Dark Corner Cemetery near Gould, Arkansas.

Nancy "Sunny" DeFir Shalmy
November 12, 1914 - February 14, 2002

Sunny Shalmy, 87, of 6810 South Hazel Street in Pine Bluff, died Thursday, February 14, 2002, at Davis Life Care Center. Born November 12, 1914, in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Haley M. and Margaret L. Edmunds DeFir.
Mrs. Shalmy was reared and educated in McGehee, Arkansas, where she was a 1932 graduate of McGehee High School.
She married Brewster M. Shalmy on May 14, 1938, in Dermott, Arkansas. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1939. Mr. Shalmy died in 1986.
A homemaker, she was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, and a charter member of Eden Park Country Club. She served 22 years as a Red Cross Volunteer at old Davis Hospital and Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She also served on the Advisory Board of Area Agency on Aging.
Her survivors include two sons, Pat Shalmy of Henderson, Nevada, and John T. Shalmy of Rison, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Brewster M. Shalmy, one son, Michael Brewster Shalmy, and two sisters, Mary Frances Stainbrook and Leslie Johnson.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-4:00 PM at Robinson's.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 18, 2002, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Mary Susan Hilliard officiating Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials take the form of contributions to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 1500 Olive Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71601.

Violet Killion Bugher
May 14, 1915 - February 17, 2002

Violet Killion Bugher, 86, of Pine Bluff died at home Sunday, February 17, 2002. Born May 14, 1915, in Sandborn, Indiana, a daughter of the late John Walter and Emma Sanders Killion, she was reared and received her early education in Sandborn, graduating from high school there.
She married Paul A. Bugher on January 16, 1936, in Epson, Indiana. As a young woman she worked for 14 years as a long distance operator for the telephone exchange company in Sandborn. She and Mr. Bugher moved to Pine Bluff in 1970. Mr. Bugher died December 30, 1992. A lifelong Methodist, she attended Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff for many years.
Survivors include one son, Ron Bugher of Sandborn, Indiana; one daughter, Paula King of Pine Bluff; one sister, Ruby Puckett of Bicknell, Indiana; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at graveside, 10:00 AM Thursday, February 21, 2002 in Sandborn Cemetery by Anderson-Poindexter Funeral Home of Sandborn, Indiana. Arrangements in Pine Bluff were by Ralph Robinson & Son. Pine Bluff visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at Robinson's.

Carlton R. Norton
December 08, 1923 - February 23, 2002

Carlton R. Norton, 78, of Pine Bluff, died at his home on Saturday, February 23, 2002. He was born December 8, 1923, in Woodlawn, (Cleveland County), the son of the late Ernest R. and Lois Faver Norton.
Mr. Norton was reared and educated in Woodlawn and was a graduate of Woodlawn High School. Upon graduation, Mr. Norton entered the U. S. Army and served in World War II. After returning from military duty he began working for the Kroger Company in the Meat Department. At the time of his retirement in 1982, after thirty-five years of service, he was the Manager of the Meat Department at the Jefferson Square store.
Mr. Norton had been a resident of Pine Bluff most of his life and was a member of Olive Street Missionary Baptist Church and Quapaw Masonic Lodge #730, F&AM.
He was preceded in death by a son, John David Norton, in 1959 and a brother, Wendell Norton.
Mr. Norton is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gavin Norton, whom he married in July of 1943; a son, Jerry Norton of Pine Bluff; one grandson, Ryan Norton of Fort Smith and one great-granddaughter, Rylee Norton, also of Fort Smith.
Funeral services will Monday, February 25, 2002, at 3:30 PM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Reverend John Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 2 to 4 PM Sunday.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Jefferson Regional Hospice, 1515 West 42nd Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.

Jewell Gladys Stone Bolin
March 21, 1905 - February 24, 2002

Jewell Gladys Bolin, 96, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, February 24, 2002, at the Arkansas Convalescent Center.
Born March 21, 1905, at Camden, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Sarah Ann Bramley Stone.
She was raised and received her early education at Harmony Grove School in the Ouachita County School District.
She was the oldest living member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff and a member of the Union Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harley Bolin.
She is survived by a brother, Jesse R. Stone of Little Rock, and a nephew, Jack T. Stone of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Pete Beevers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5:30 PM Tuesday at Robinson's.
Memorials may be made to Carr Memorial United Methodist Church, 909 Wisconsin, Pine Bluff, AR 71601, or to the donor's favorite charity.
