Oscar N. Matlock
September 16, 1915 - April 11, 2002

Oscar N. Matlock, 86, of 3605 Holly Street, Pine Bluff, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Davis Life Care Center. He was born in Pine Bluff, September 16, 1915, a son of the late Freeman Kirkwood and Gertrude Elizabeth Mitchell Matlock.
Mr. Matlock received his early education in Pine Bluff where he graduated from Pine Bluff High School. He attended Louisiana State University. He was a noted football player in both high school and college, being named All-American while at LSU. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He worked in sales for various furniture sales companies during his career, mostly in Pine Bluff and for six years in Dermott, Arkansas. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class there. While in Dermott, he was a member and president of the Rotary Club there.
His survivors include his wife, Vella Harriet Blankenship Matlock, to whom he was married November 24, 1937; one son, Oscar Matlock, Jr., of Chesterfield, Missouri; one daughter, Pamela Elizabeth Hyslop of Jackson, Mississippi; one brother, Leo Matlock of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one sister, Katie Stone of Pine Bluff, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Matlock was preceded in death by one brother, Andy Matlock.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverends Mary Susan Hilliard and Ted DeWeese officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery.

Darrell G. ( Skip ) Dorris
August 15, 1945 - April 19, 2002

Darrell G. "Skip" Dorris, 56, of Hot Springs, died Friday, April 19, 2002. Born in Conway, Arkansas, on August 15, 1945, he was the son of Bettye Fry Leibenguth of Pine Bluff and the late Elwin Edison Dorris.
He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff. He was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School, attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi at Oxford (Ole Miss).
A resident of Hot Springs for ten years, he was the owner and operator of Spa City Properties. He was a member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association.
Survivors include his mother; sister, Janis D. Kientz of Jackson, Mississippi; and niece.
Private graveside services were held Tuesday, April 23, in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son of Pine Bluff. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor's choice.

A. Juanita Baldwin
September 19, 1918 - April 24, 2002

Juanita Baldwin, 83, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was the daughter of the late James Williamson and Bertha Reach Baldwin. After receiving her early education in Pine Bluff, she earned a bachelor of arts degree from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, and a master of science degree from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She continued her graduate education later at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, and the University of Arkansas.
She used this acquired knowledge during her thirty-seven year career with the Pine Bluff School District as a classroom teacher and guidance counselor, retiring as head of the Marketing Education Department of Pine Bluff High School in 1980.
She was a lifelong member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, serving her church in numerous and varied capacities. Her other community activities included memberships in Pilot Club International, the Order of the Eastern Star, RSVP, and local, state, and national educational organizations. She was a charter member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
She was a longtime member and held state offices in many historical societies including the Arkansas Society of the Daughters of Colonial Wars, Magna Charta Dames, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Huguenot Society of Arkansas, Daughters of the American Revolution, United States Daughters of 1812, Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Society of the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, Dames of the Court of Honor, and the Order of the First Families of Mississippi.
She is survived by her caregivers, Hal Gunter and Wanda Heritage of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services are Friday at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Ted Deweese officiating. Interment will follow in Bellwood Annex Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the donor's favorite charity or foundation.

Betty Jane Miller Anderson
July 05, 1924 - April 28, 2002

Betty Miller Anderson, 77, longtime Pine Bluff resident, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in Little Rock. Born in Paducah, Kentucky, July 5, 1924, her parents were the late John Edward and Nell Vining Miller. Moving to Pine Bluff as a child, she was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1942. She married George Taft Anderson in Pine Bluff in October of 1943. The Andersons resided in Pine Bluff, then in El Dorado from 1948 until 1955 when they returned to Pine Bluff. Mr. Anderson died January 20, 1996.
An active member of First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff for many years, she served on the staff there as Church Hostess for almost 14 years until her retirement in August 1998. Her hostess duties included receiving visitors, answering the phone and serving as consultant for church weddings. She was also in charge of overseeing receptions, meetings, and banquets at the church. She was a member of United Methodist Women, held several offices in UMW, and was honored with a special membership and honorary membership in UMW. She was a member of the Danho Sunday School Class.
Her activities outside the church included working for Central Moloney in their Marketing Department and work for Dr. Tom Ed Townsend. She was a member of the Garden Lovers Garden Club, Paper Doll Investment Club, Bible Study Fellowship, and a Bridge Club.
Survivors include a daughter. Jane Brightop of Little Rock, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Martha Nell Ivener, died in 1999.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2002, in Wheeler Chapel at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Charles Settle officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. They request that memorials take the form of contributions to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 8003, Pine Bluff, AR 71611 or to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall, Little Rock, AR 72202.

Norma Lee Bush
August 28, 1920 - May 29, 2002

Norma Lee Howe Bush, 81 of Pine Bluff died Monday evening at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Bush was born August 28, 1920, in Pine Bluff, the daughter of the late Winfield Sidney Howe and Bhula Mary Satterwhite Howe.
Mrs. Bush was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, a 1939 graduate of Pine Bluff High School, a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff, a housewife and a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of Rosswood Country Club and an avid golfer.
She was married to Mr. Jarrell V. Bush on September 17, 1942, in Pine Bluff and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1999.
Mrs. Bush is survived by her children, Jerry and Marlene Bush of Hot Springs and David and Margaret Bush of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren, Tammy Bush and Lori Bush, both of Hot Springs, Michael Bush of Pine Bluff, Rusty Bush of Benton and Angela Bush of Pine Bluff and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 5/02/02, 10:00 AM, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Ted DeWeese officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Annex Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday evening. The family will be at the home of David Bush, 4 Lone Wolf Cove, Pine Bluff.
The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to United Methodist Church Children's Home, Post Office Box 4848, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72214-4848.

Pauline Hayes Kellogg
August 01, 1918 - April 29, 2002

Pauline Hayes Kellogg, 83, of White Hall died April 29, 2002 in Sheridan.
Born August 1, 1918, at Bauxite Ar. Mrs. Kellogg was the daughter of the late Talbert
Hayes and Georgia Ann Burnett Hayes. Mrs. Kellogg was a lifelong resident of White Hall and Pine Bluff. She was reared and received her early education in the Pine Bluff Schools.
Mrs. Kellogg married Mr. Ray Kellogg on July 31, 1965 in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Kellogg was a telephone operator for the Pine Bluff Arsenal for 25 years retiring in 1971. She was also a member of Central Baptist Church.
Mrs. Kellogg was preceeded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Mildred Scarlett and Francis Pittman, and 3 brothers, Almos, Talbert and Bual Hayes.
Mrs. Kellogg is survived by her spouse Ray W. Kellogg of White Hall, 2 daughters; Paulette McVay of Redfield, and Jane Cleary of Goodyear Arizona 2 Sons; Charles Kellogg of Madison Mississippi and Don Kellogg of LaPorte Texas; 6 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday May 1, 2002 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 4:00 PM, with Brother Gary Akers officiating. Prior to the service, the visitation will be from 12:00 noon till 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors
Memorials may be made to the Bus Fund at the Central Baptist Church 6107 Dollarway Rd. Pine Bluff Ar.71602.

George M. Fallis
February 04, 1935 - October 14, 2001

George M. Fallis, 66, of Pine Bluff died Sunday at his home. He was born February 4, 1935 in DeQueen, Arkansas to the late Moody Irl and Maggie Marie Lovewell Fallis. He married the former Theresa Ann Brown on June 25, 1956 in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Fallis was reared and educated in Pine Bluff where he graduated from Watson Chapel High School. He served in the United States Air Force and the Civil Service during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era before retiring as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Fallis also retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal.
He attended Southeast Arkansas College where he graduated and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mr. Fallis was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and Jefferson County Mounted Patrol.
Mr. Fallis was preceded in death by his brothers; Harold O. Fallis, Moody Earl Fallis and a sister; Mildred Juanita Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his wife; Theresa Ann Brown Fallis of Pine Bluff, son; Mark Fallis of Pine Bluff, daughter; Vicki Lynn Turner of Pine Bluff, brother; Hershel L. Fallis of Pine Bluff, sister; Mary Louise Thurman of Idabel, Oklahoma, and four grandchildren.
Visitation, Monday 6 to 8 PM at Robinson's. Service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 16, 2001, in Ralph Robinson's Chapel with burial in Lee Cemetery.
The family ask that memorials take the form of contributions to Watson Chapel Baptist Church, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71603.

Robert Amon Nordin, Sr
March 13, 1913 - May 05, 2002

Robert Amon Nordin, Sr., 89, of Pine Bluff died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Arkansas Convalescent Center.
He was born March 13, 1913 in Birta, Arkansas, to George Quincy and Nancy Lou Della Parker Nordin.
Mr. Nordin was reared and received his early education in Pope County. He married Jessie V. Kinser, October 13, 1930, and they moved to the Pine Buff area in 1941, where he farmed. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a son, Robert Amon Nordin, Jr.
Survivors are a grandson, Mark Nordin and great-grandson, Christopher Nordin of Sheridan, and a nephew, Billy Boyce of Pine Bluff.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, at Birta Cemetery.

Twyla Jean Crossett
December 16, 1937 - May 04, 2002

Twyla Jean Crossett, 64, of Pine Bluff died Saturday May 4, 2002 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born December 16, 1937 in McGehee Arkansas the daughter of Mrs. Lois Roberts Stueart and the late Ira Stueart. Mrs. Crossett was reared and received her early education in McGehee and was graduated from El Dorado High School in 1955. Mrs. Crossett was employed as a bookkeeper/controller by the Arkansas State Boys Training School in Pine Bluff for twenty five years retiring in 1997. She was also a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Crossett was preceeded in death by her father, Ira Stueart and by a daughter Michelle Crossett, 1 Brother Jerry Stueart.
Survivors include: 1 son Robert Crossett of Pine Bluff, her mother Lois Davis of Pine Bluff, 2 sisters; Glenda Martin of Pine Bluff and Debbi Stueart of Little Rock, 1 brother; Robert Stueart of Wellsley Massachusetts.
The visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday May 6, 2002 at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors in Pine Bluff.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday May 7, 2002 at Graceland Cemetery with Brother M.L. Faler officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson and Son.

Margaret Marie Boyd
March 19, 1940 - May 04, 2002

Margaret Marie Boyd, 62, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was born March 19, 1940, in Pine Bluff, the daughter of the late L. C. and Marie Salvestrini Hulse.
She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff. She attended St Joseph Catholic School and was graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1958.
Mrs. Boyd was a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff, a homemaker and a member of St Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Boyd, Jr and her parents.
She is survived by a daughter, Tonya Hoover of Pine Bluff; a brother, Louis Hulse of Pine Bluff and a granddaughter, Sydney Hoover also of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:00 AM, at St Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Bernard Keller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 5 to 7 PM and a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday.
