Barbara Peyton Womack

Barbara Peyton Womack, 60, of Clarksville, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at home.
She was born September 5, 1950 in De Witt, daughter of Marshall and Lois Maples Peyton.
Barbara and her late husband, James, opened their doors and hearts to countless foster children for many years through DHS and unofficially through the love of their home.
Mrs. Womack was a member of White Hall United Pentecostal. After moving to Clarksville, Mrs. Womack became a member of Christian Life Center.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Womack, whom she married July 22, 1973 in Gridley, Arkansas; and brother, Dee Peyton.
Survivors include her daughter, Katrina McMahan of Scranton; two sons, Keith Womack of Pine Bluff and Kevin Womack of Poteau, Oklahoma; parents, Marshall and Lois Peyton of White Hall; two sisters, Anita Bond of Pine Bluff and Shirley Townsend of Moro, Arkansas; two brothers, Jeff Peyton of White Hall and Donny Peyton of Pine Bluff; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2011 at White Hall United Pentecostal Church with Reverend A.D. Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at White Hall United Pentecostal Church. Arrangements are by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Helen Elizabeth Lindsey (Munn)
October 1, 1916 - July 22, 2011
Helen Munn Lindsey, 94, of Pine Bluff died Friday, July 22, 2011 at Davis Life Care Center in Pine Bluff. Born October 1, 1916 in Laneburg (Nevada County), Arkansas, a daughter of the William Neil and Omah Lee Orr Munn, she was a graduate of Prescott (AR) High School, Magnolia (AR) A&M College and Draughon's Business College (San Antonio, TX).
She was employed in Pine Bluff by the Cotton Belt Railroad and worked for and retired from Pine Bluff Arsenal. Later she worked for the Federal Land Bank in Pine Bluff.
She married Robert C. Lindsey in Pine Bluff in 1945.
Mrs. Lindsey was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, George R. Munn; and sister, Sara Reader Munn.
She was a member of South Side Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Cash (Tommy) of Pine Bluff, and grandson, Bryan Cash of Rogers, AR.
Services are Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Dr. Ed Gillham officiating. The family will greet friends for an hour before service time at Robinson's. Private interment follows.

John Michael LeGros
January 2, 1958 - July 22, 2011
John Michael LeGros, 53, of Jefferson, died Friday, July 22, 2011.
He was born January 2, 1958 in Fordyce, son of Charlene Pennington LeGros and the late Earl John LeGros.
John was reared and received his early education in Fordyce and White Hall, graduating from White Hall High School.
Mr. LeGros served in the United States Army.
He worked as a manager of Sonic Drive-In in White Hall. John volunteered as a soccer coach in White Hall for many years.
Mr. LeGros was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Earl LeGros.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan LeGros of Jefferson; son, Joshua LeGros of Jefferson; mother, Charlene Pennington LeGros of Jefferson; four sisters, Wannetta Clowers of Sheridan, Michelle LeGros of Redfield, Jackie LeGros of White Hall and Sheila Graber of Indiana; and two brothers, Byron LeGros of Jefferson and Kenny LeGros of Little Rock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father L. Warren Harvey officiating. A Vigil service will be Monday evening at 6 p.m. at Robinson's. Visitation will follow the Vigil until 8 p.m.
Boyce "Bo" Cope
July 23, 1940 - July 22, 2011
Boyce "Bo" Cope, age 70, of White Hall, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Cope was born July 23, 1940, in Woodlawn, a son of the late Claude and Cloma Dixon Cope.
Mr. Cope was reared and educated in Woodlawn, where he attended the Woodlawn schools.
He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and worked for Interstate Landscaping for forty seven years, retiring as forman.
Mr. Cope enjoyed spending time with both family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Marie Turpen Cope, whom he married August 1, 1964, in Memphis, Tennessee and a brother, Bobby Henderson and son-in-law, Joe Miller.
Mr. Cope is survived by two sons, Chris (Marti) Cope of Jacksonville and Boyce "Bobo" (Sharon) Cope of Pine Bluff; four daughters, Shelly (Shawn) Griffin of Jacksonville, Tracy (Victor) Dickson of Pine Bluff, Denise Miller of Dewitt, Rhonda (Brooks) Sanders of Monticello; two brothers, Donald Cope of Rison and Kenneth Cope of Missouri; two sisters, Anna Bell Locke of Mississippi and Ruthie Lee Breech of Pine Bluff; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren and his companion, Vicki Kendrick of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Brooks Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Hospice Home Care, 3063 West 28th Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
The family will be at 9520 Aaron Road.
Joe Hart Madding
February 20, 1920 - July 23, 2011
Joe Hart Madding, 91, formerly of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died July 23, 2011 in Parma, Ohio, while visiting there for the summer.
He was born February 20, 1920 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas being the second son of T. E. Madding and Joanna Hart Madding.
Mr. Madding was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Madding, and great-nephew, Dan Madding.
Survivors include his nephew, Thomas Madding, Jr. (Jane); great-niece, Joanna Madding as well as his friend and caregiver, Greg Hendershot.
Joe left Pine Bluff at a young age to pursue his passion of becoming a professional musician. He achieved his goal and worked as a drummer and arranger in Miami, New York, and Las Vegas.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army Air Corps.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Fort Myers, Florida.
Jesse Steve Cook
November 22, 1922 - July 25, 2011
Steve Cook, 88, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at North Metro Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Born November 22, 1922, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Elige Thomas and Lottie Lee Raley Cook.
Mr. Cook was reared and received his early education in Star City. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1942. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Jesse Steve Cook married Gladys M. Lindsey on February 14, 1948, in Pine Bluff.
Mr. Cook worked twelve years as an auto body instructor at Pines Vocational Technical School, retiring in 1987. He also worked twelve years as an auto body repairman for Smart Chevrolet. He was a life-long body and fender man, and a farmer.
Mr. Cook was a member of Pine Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Star City. He was a Sunday School teacher at the church. He was a member of the Jefferson County Coon Hunters Association. He was an avid raccoon hunter. Mr. Cook was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys Cook; one brother, Aaron Cook; one sister, Loreen Nolan.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Joyce Bates of Star City, and Beverly Ann Boyd of Rison; two sons, Steve Randall Cook of Walnut Ridge, and Rodney Keith Cook of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Clara Lee Ridgway of Pine Bluff, and Eva Mae Clayton of Moultrie, Georgia; five grandchildren, Ann Massey, Leigh Boyd, Payton Robbins, Michella Tenneson, and Joshua Cook; four great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Ralph Robinson & Son.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2011, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Revered James Watson, and Reverend Steve R. Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Drake Cemetery, near Star City, by Ralph Robinson & Son.
Hersey C. Nelson
January 26, 1918 - July 27, 2011
Hersey C. Nelson, 93 of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at his home.
He was born, January 26, 1918, in Pine Bluff to John M. and Mary Herring Nelson.
Mr. Nelson was reared and educated in Pine Bluff.
He served in the United States Navy.
Mr. Nelson had worked for Ben Pearson for 30 years where he became so well known as an archery expert that people called from all over the country for advice.
He also owned and operated Sportsman's Haven for 25 years and worked at Jim's Trading Post for 10 years before retiring as an Archery Consultant.
He loved the Lord, fishing, archery and most of all, his family. He was a kind hearted person who took pride in his work and providing for his family.
He has seen the world through his career and lived a very fulfilling life.
He is loved and will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Morris Nelson; daughters, Teresa Crumpton of Pine Bluff, Belinda Hughes (Michael) of Woodstock, Georgia, Leslie Watkins of Pine Bluff, Linda Scallion Eifling of Pine Bluff; son, John Nelson of Little Rock; grandsons, Johnny Jones (Laura), Russell Locke; granddaughters, Cacee Crumpton, Sara Crumpton, Brittany Hughes, Melanie Miller; and a great-granddaughter, Lillia Jones.
Visitation will be 10 AM, Saturday, July 30, 2011, until service time.
Service will be 11 AM, Saturday, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Bobby Matthews officiating.
Burial will follow in Hardin Cemetery.
John D. Wilbourne
February 4, 1919 - July 28, 2011
John D. Wilbourne, 92, of Memphis, Tennessee died July 28, 2011. The Pine Bluff, Arkansas native, born February 4, 1919 to John and Merle Williams Wilbourne, was reared in Pine Bluff and was a Hendrix College graduate.
He worked for Senator Hattie Caraway as an aide in Washington, DC and for Arkansas Oak Flooring Company in New Jersey before joining the Commercial Appeal in Memphis as administrative assistant to the editor, a post he held for 37 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.
Services are Monday, August 1 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff with the Reverend Lance Clemmons officiating.
Carlon Josephine Marcum (Elkins)
April 24, 1926 - July 28, 2011
Carlon Elkins Marcum, 85, a resident of Beebe, was promoted to her eternal glory Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital.
Born April 24, 1926, in Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of Charles Joseph and Beignon Wray Elkins.
Mrs. Marcum was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff. She was a 1945 graduate of Watson Chapel High School. Carlon Josephine Elkins married Elbert Lee Marcum on July 13, 1946, in Pine Bluff. They enjoyed sixty years of marriage until Mr. Marcum passed away in 2006. Mrs. Marcum was a member of Philadelphia Church of God.
Mrs. Marcum was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Survivors include two sons, Elbert Lee Marcum, Jr. of Deer Park, Texas, and Joel Matthew Marcum of Ocala, Florida; three daughters, Carolyn Beignon Marcum Davis of Beebe, Teresa Marcum Jones of Cabot, and Melissa Kay Marcum Campbell of Deer Park, Texas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren
The visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 AM Monday, August 1, 2011, at Ralph Robinson & Son.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, August 1, 2011, in Providence Cemetery
with Mr. Robert Brown officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Valerie Anna Raines (Radziewicz)
January 12, 1924 - July 29, 2011
Valerie Anna Radziewicz Raines, 87, of Pine Bluff died Friday, July 29, 2011. Born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Bernard and Josephine Dumbrowski Radziewicz, she was reared and educated in Brooklyn, New York. She served in the US Navy WAVES during WWII. She remained in the Navy serving in Washington, DC.
She and her late husband, James William Raines, Jr. met in Hawaii when both were serving there with the Navy.
After her Naval career, Mrs. Raines moved with her husband to Pine Bluff where she worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. A civil servant, she moved to Denver, Colorado in 1974 working in several capacities with government agencies and hospitals. After leaving Denver she returned to Pine Bluff, moved to Arizona, and returned to Jefferson County, Arkansas in 2000.
When in Pine Bluff she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Robert K. Raines of Hot Springs, Arkansas, James E. "Jimmy" Raines of Clearwater, Florida, Donald R. Raines of Guffey, Colorado; brother, Bernard Rogers of Ireland; sisters, Joan Moore of Oceanside, NY and Ann Fitton of Bayville, New Jersey; grandchildren, Chris Raines, Amy Raines Woods, Adam Raines, Katie Raines, Dylan Raines, and Alex Raines.
