September 1, 1927 - September 20, 2011

Ramona Marie Seagraves, 83 of Pine Bluff died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Davis Life Care East.

She was born September 1, 1927, in Pine Bluff, to Raymond R. "Jack" and Aunita Mitchell Seagraves. She received her early education in Pine Bluff.

Miss Seagraves was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

She worked as a office secretary.

There are no immediate survivors.

There will not be any services at this time. This information furnished by Ralph Robinson and Son.

Johnnie Elizabeth Tidwell (Raymick)
November 14, 1929 - September 26, 2011

Johnnie Elizabeth Tidwell, 81, died Monday, September 26, 2011, at her home.

She was born November 14, 1929, in Pine Bluff, to the late John and Gussie Raymick.

She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and worked for Young's Cleaners for over 20 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Culpepper and Thelma Brasher, a son Ray Tidwell, and a grandson Steven Benjamin Tidwell.

She is survived by two sons, Harry Allen (Cindy) Tidwell and Steve (Debbie) Tidwell; a daughter, Lynn Tidwell, three grandsons, Allen (Ashley) Tidwell, Jason (Theresa) Tidwell, and Steven (Mandy) Tidwell; two great granddaughters, Laini Tidwell and Macee Tidwell, a brother, Dorsey (JoAnn) Raymick; and a sister, Marie (Havis) Hester.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at Robinson’s.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 28, 2011, 12:00 PM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverends Billy West and Willis Findley officiating. Burial will follow in Raymick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.

William M. "Reece" Owen
May 31, 1949 - September 26, 2011

William Maurice “Reece” Owen, 62, of Grady, Arkansas died Monday, September 26, 2011 in Hot Springs.

He was born May 31, 1949 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Dr. Maurice and Ruby “Nan” Gillett Owen. He and his late sister, Nancy, and parents lived in Memphis while his father was in dental school, moving to Pine Bluff in 1953. He married Nancy Glover of Star City in 1990.

Reece was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1967. He attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Reece was in automotive after-market parts sales and in 1999 formed and operated Long Lake Irrigation and later formed Durapipe of Arkansas and Grady Agri.

He was a member of the Grady United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors and especially duck hunting. He had a passion for horse racing and was a partner in Lower Arkansas Stables.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Owen Davis; and his grandparents, Claude Gabriel and Ann Thompson Gillett and V. O. and Eula Owen.

Survivors include his wife Nancy; children, Shannon Owen Terry and husband Kent of Bryant, Amber Owen of Bryant, Leslie Owen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Chuck Owen and wife Kris of Chicago, Gayle Harris Konermann of Dallas, Jill Harris Williams of Springdale; brothers, John Owen and wife Sammye of Dumas, Joe Owen and wife Roxann of Little Rock, Lee Owen and wife Tammy of Eagle River, Alaska; brother-in-law, Larry Davis of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Taylor Bryant, Charlie, Henry and George Terry, Jordyn and Riley Bilger, James, Isabella and Zack Owen, and Jackson Williams.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Robinson’s Chapel with Rev. Lee Zuehlke officiating. Burial will be in Leek Cemetery.

The family requests memorials take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, 909 West 2nd Street, Little Rock, AR 72201 or to the donor’s favorite charity.

L. D. Lovell
May 3, 1932 - September 28, 2011

L.D. Lovell, 79, of Little Rock, Arkansas formerly of Pine Bluff, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

Born May 3, 1932, in England, Arkansas, he was a son of the late James Henry and Ethel Knight Lovell. After the death of his mother, he was reared by his father and step-mother, the late Etta Mae Jackson Lovell. He received his early education in Sherrill, Arkansas attending school there and then finishing his education in the Army.

At the age of 18, he joined the United States Army in 1951. Achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class, he served two tours of duty in Korea and three tours of duty in Viet Nam. He also spent nine years in occupied Germany. He was a Senior Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor at the time of his retirement in 1972, after twenty-one years of service.

After his career in the US Army, Mr. Lovell chose a career in Law Enforcement, becoming a Deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff Department. He became a JROTC instructor at Warren High School and then at White Hall High School. After working for the Pine Bluff Arsenal as a Federal Police Officer, he retired in 1992.

Mr. Lovell was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Quapaw Lodge, as well as a member of the Shriners and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Lovell was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Patron. He was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Pine Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Flora Jean Bradshaw Lovell; a step-son, James Wallace Mitchell and brothers and sisters, Clarence, Claudie, D.R., Bertha and Joyce.

Mr. Lovell is survived by his wife of twenty years, Donzella Mote Lovell; his children, Marcus Brian Lovell, Dianne Lovell, both of Mountain View, Arkansas and Kenneth Wayne Lovell, of Pine Bluff; his step-children, Marcia Gartman, Roseann Mitchell and Ellen Thompson; one granddaughter, Taylor Rainey; nine step-grandchildren, Stacia, Blake, Julie, Erica, Lauren, Bethany, Ian, Aaron and Andrew; six step-great grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Dale Lovell, R.D. Lovell, Jimmy Lovell, Carolyn Lea, Ellen Lunsford and Dorothy Isham.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2011, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Paul Huenefeld officiating. The family will receive friends 9:00 AM, Saturday morning until service time. Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday October 3, 2011 in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Lawrence Mae Moseley Pollard
May 1, 1913 - September 28, 2011

Lawrence Mae Moseley Pollard, 98, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Trinity Village Medical Center.

She was born May 1, 1913 in Coffee Springs, Alabama, daughter of Andrew Robinson and Hattie Lawrence Carmichael Moseley.

Mrs. Pollard was reared and received her early education in Enterprise and Sylacauga, Alabama, graduating from Sylacauga High School. She attended Alabama College in Montevallo, Alabama.

She worked as a sales woman at Hafter's in Greenville, Mississippi for many years before moving to Pine Bluff. Mrs. Pollard worked at Cohen's in Pine Bluff.

Mrs. Pollard was a member of South Side Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where she taught Sunday school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Stark Pollard, whom she married November 27, 1934 in Sylacauga, Alabama; her parents; three brothers, Andrew Robinson Moseley, Jr., Ralph Carmichael Moseley, John Henry Moseley; and sister, Frances Moseley Allison.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Biedenharn of North Little Rock, Arkansas; two sons, William Stark Pollard, Jr. of Clarksdale, Mississippi and Ralph T. Pollard of Knoxville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011 at South Side Baptist Church with Dr. J.R. Debusk officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Village, 6400 Trinity Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.

Clarice Want (Wilson)
April 24, 1913 - September 28, 2011

Clarice Want, 98, a life-long resident of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Trinity Village Nursing Center.

Born April 24, 1913, in Watson Chapel, she was a daughter of N. H. and Margie Vogel Wilson.

Mrs. Want was reared and received her early education in Watson Chapel. She was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School. Clarice Wilson married E. Cleve "Buddy" Want on May 1, 1933, in Sherrill. Mrs. Want was a licensed beautician at Orchid Beauty Shop for ten years, and at Glamour Bar for ten years.

Mrs. Want was once a member of Good Faith United Methodist Church. She then became a very active member of First United Methodist Church. She was the past president of the Wesley Friendship Sunday School Class, taught Sunday School for a number of years, and visited shut-ins.

Mrs. Want was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Dr. Cleve Want, two sisters, three brothers.

Survivors include one grandson, Bob Want; five granddaughters, Lori Sanderson, Diane Molinaro, Eileen West, Julie Castleberry, and Cathy Hunter; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 3, 2011, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend David Fleming, and Pastor Edna Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.

Memorials may be made to: First United Methodist Church, 200 W. 6th Ave. Pine Bluff, AR 71601, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Elaine Smith McHan Benton
June 8, 1956 - September 29, 2011

Elaine Smith McHan Benton, 55, of Little Rock, died Thursday, September 29, 2011.

She was born June 8, 1956 in Crescent City, California, daughter of Ralph and Martha Tully Smith of Pine Bluff.

Elaine was reared and received her early education in White Hall, graduating from White Hall High School. She attended SEARK College.

She worked for Friday, Eldredge and Clark LLP in Little Rock as a legal secretary.

Elaine was a member of East Side Pentecostal Church of God in Pine Bluff.

Other survivors include her husband, Larry Benton of Little Rock; daughter, Lesley McAfee of Little Rock; two sons, Brandon Shawn McHan and Jeffrey Todd McHan of Pine Bluff; brother, Larry Wayne Smith of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren, Lillith May McAfee and Aiden Shawn McHan; step-daughters, Jessica Benton of heber Springs and Leah White of Little Rock; and step-son, Aaron Benton of Fort Smith.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Brother David Shipley officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Robinson's.

Sara M. Gaston (Butcalis)
March 3, 1915 - September 30, 2011

Sara M. Gaston, 96, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at INOVA Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg, Virginia.

She was born March 3, 1915, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of the late Anthony and Loretta Trabona Butcalis. Her family moved to Pine Bluff in 1920 and she attended Pine Bluff High School.

She was a well known Cosmetologist and Electrologist in Pine Bluff for 65 years. She owned and operated several beauty salons including the Ma Ru Beauty Salon and the Sara-Jane Beauty Salon.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a past member of the choir and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include a son, Lt. Col. James S. Gaston USAF/Ret. And wife Bobbie of Leesburg, Virginia; two grandsons, James S. Gaston, Jr. And wife Anne of Round Hill, Virginia and Mark D. Gaston and wife Christy of Leesburg, Virginia; and four great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Sarah, Michael, and John Paul Gaston.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Joe Butcalis, Paul Butcalis, Tony Butcalis, Vick Butcalis, Sam Butcalis, and Charles Butcalis, and three sisters, Josephine Barbarotto, Mary Barbarotto, and Loretta Butcalis.

A vigil will be held Monday, October 3, 2011, at 7:00 PM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with a visitation following the vigil.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend L. Warren Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
