Wanda Land
Wanda Lea Land, 79, of Raytown, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at a hospital. She was a member of High Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Richard L. Land; four sons, Richard W. Land of Warsaw, Mo., Gary Land and Donald Land, both of Fayetteville, and Mark Land of Springfield; two daughters, Kathy Land of Melbourne, Fla., and Marsha Tice of Spokane, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 26 at High Point Baptist Church. Burial was at Brooking Cemetery under the direction of Floral Hills Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to High Point Baptist Church.

Vera Taff
Vera “Tootsie” Taff, 86, of Mulberry died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003. The native of Mulberry attended Mulberry Public Schools and was retired from Avon Packing Center in Glendora, Calif.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Taff; two sons, Don Taff of Alma and Mike Taff of Ozark; one daughter, Cheryl Howerton of Searcy; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren. Bural will be at Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of Oakdale Mortuary in Glendora, Calif.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway.

Mary Flippin
Mary Elizabeth Earp Flippin, 56, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at her home. She was an office receptionist for A.D. Jenkins Eye Clinic and a member of 43 Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, David; a daughter, Lori Earp of Van Buren; a son C.B. Earp Jr. of Van Buren; two stepdaughters, Cathy Ferguson and Nancy Leslie, both of Van Buren; a stepson, David Flippin of Springfield, Ore.; her mother, Helen Wescott of Van Buren; three sisters, Carol Reeves, Lenora Hines and Frances Hunt, all of Van Buren; one grandchild; and seven stepgrandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 22 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Derek Brewer, Kyle Daniels, Mike Reeves, Bill Hunt, Tim Hines and Larry West. Honorary pallbearers were Judge John Holland, Dr. A.D. Jenkins, Lois Harris, Paul Gant, Ronnie Cappelle and Steven Peer.

James Shettleworth
James D. Shettleworth, 74, of Dyer died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired employee of Riverside Furniture Co. and of the Pentecostal faith. He was born March 24, 1928, in Stigler.
Survivors include his wife, Dories Shettleworth; two sons, Benny Wayne Shettleworth of Alma and Randy Jay Settleworth of Dyer; one sister, Macklean Gates of Bartlesville, Okla.; two brothers, Roy Shettleworth of Spiro and Kenneth Settleworth of Altus; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 24 at Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Hugh Rhoades
Hugh Torbett Rhoades, 53, of Mountainburg died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Mountainburg. He was a truck driver for D.T.I. and a veteran of the Marine Corps.
A private family memorial service was held Feb. 22 at New Beginnings Church in Mountainburg. Cremation was under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Crystal Rhoades of Jackson, Miss., and Cynthia Rhoades of Mountainburg; three sisters, June Simms of Antlers, Okla., Kathy of Gary, Ind., and Roberta Jones of Ada, Okla.; two brothers, Tom Rhoades of Rattan, Okla., and John Rhoades of Houston; and three grandchildren.

Margaret Guinn
Margaret Guinn, 88, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Chester Guinn; two sons, Darwin Guinn of Fort Smith and Larry Guinn of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 21 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kyle, Nathan and Wesley Guinn, Chris Feris, Marcus Mulson and Bobby Stone. Honorary pallbearers were Missionary Baptist pastors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 12515 Arkansas 253, Fort Smith, AR 72916.

Edith Titsworth
Edith Peggy Titsworth, 83, of Fort Smith died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was a member of City Heights Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was the widow of Howard Titsworth.
A private family committal were held Feb. 20 under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Titsworth of Spiro; a sister, Dorothy Truax of Lincoln, Neb.; two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gladys Roberts
Gladys F. Roberts, 74, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at her home. She was a retired owner and operator, secretary and bookkeeper for Roberts Construction and of the Missionary Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred; a daughter, Linda Roberts of the home; two sisters, Hope Ellington of Sweet Home, Ore. and Betty Mainard of Charleston; two brothers, Floyd Williams of San Pablo, Calif. and J.T. Williams of Alma.
Funeral was held Feb. 21 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Charles Mainard, Melvin Williams, Harold Hill, Ronnie, Tommy and Jimmy Roberts.

Ruby Patterson
Ruby J. Patterson, 78, of Mulberry died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Odell; six daughters, Shirley Maez of Mesa, Ariz., Faye Pate of Coppell, Texas, Patricia McCarver and Elaine Baty, both of Van Buren, Diane Sheridan of Fort Smith and Bonnie House of Alma; four sons, Wesley and Verlon Patterson, both of Fort Smith, Charles Patterson of Ozark and Terry Patterson of Mountainburg; three sisters, Opal Montgomery and Ada Johnson, both of Ozark, and Betty of Idaho; four brothers, Truman, Wadie and Bob Johnson, all of Ozark, and Roy Johnson of Charleston; 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 21 at Oak Bower Church with burial at Oak Bower Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Myrtle Bell
Myrtle Reeves “Reva” Bell, 89, of Wichita, Kan., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003. She was a private nurse at Sedgwick County Hospital and a retired private nurse with 35 years of service from St. Francis Hospital. She was the widow of Hugh Bell.
Funeral service was held Feb. 21 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita, Kan.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Gifford of Wichita, Kan.; two sons, Marion of Wichita, Kan. and Aaron Sr. of Sedgwick; a sister, Opal Pitman of Muskogee, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

Alvin Pearcy
Alvin H. Pearcy, 82, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired supervisor for General Motors in Van Nuys, Calif. He was a woodworker and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia; a daughter, Carol Verner of Van Buren; a son, David Means of Booneville; a sister, Polly Crockett of Modesto, Calif.; two brothers, Leroy Pearcy of San Antonio and Eldon Pearcy of Canoga Park, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 22 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Brad Goff, Justin Burcham, Dee Tankersly, Austin Robison, Robin Garrett, Bobby Wilhite, Donny Jones and James DeHart.

Justin Cameron
Justin L. Cameron, 16, of Uniontown died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at a local hospital. He was an 11th-grade student at Cedarville High School, attended Oliver Springs Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the Cedarville FFA.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Doug and Patti Cameron of Uniontown; his mother and stepfather, Eddie and Vernene Parker of Charleston; his maternal grandfather, Vernon Smith of Roland; his paternal grandparents, Bud and Juanita Cameron of Uniontown; his maternal step-grandparents, Brice and Freda Parker of Dayton; two sisters, Leslie and Jennifer Cameron, both of Fort Smith, a stepsister, Amanda Hall of Uniontown; and a stepbrother, Joshua Parker of Lavaca.
Memorial service was held Feb. 18 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Justin Weems, Josh Parker, Brandon Mizell, Jimmy Boston, Bobby Davis, Hugh Huckabee and Jared and Adam Cluck.
